So, i set this up mainly for those in my weight loss challenge, but anyone (runner or run-phobic) can join up for extra motivation to get out there and move!
Here is a link to the website for C25K:
http://www.c25k.com/
Which also has pod casts for Ipods which will tell you when to start and stop jogging/running.
But, you can count in your head if you don't have an ipod, or you can just set small distances.
Perhaps, run to the next letterbox, then walk for two?
Or, run to the next power line if you live in the country like me! lol.
And here is a link to the program... I find its good to print it out and keep it on your wall, then you can put a tick on the runs when you have completed them:

I will be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and plan to begin next Monday (7th July) because i like the "orderly-ness" of starting on a Monday lol.
However, feel free to start which ever day you like!
Everyone needs motivation to work out sometimes :) so lets support each other to reach our goals!
Happy running everyone!
did my run - although it all kinda went wrong.
Long story short, went to fast, made it up the hill, then 3 minutes into my 5 minute stint I HAD TO STOP, well, walk. so I walked for 3 mins and continued running after.
So.. I was all bummed becuase of that, got back, MY BEST TIME EVER!!! 31.17 seconds. So, yeah, tomoz I'm gonna SLOW DOWN!!!
Completed wk 1/day 2 of c25k training. Went well. On the last jog, the 8th, I was going up a slight hill and my hr hit 122. I could feel that I was at an exertion level of about 7, I could talk to myself but didn't want to. The funny thing is that on the other intervals my max hr was 115 +/-, then would climb a few beats after the transition to walking, before coming down into the low 90's. Boy the drugs I'm on behave weird... I don't know what to expect. If anyone else monitors hr like I have to (for whatever reason) I'd like to compare notes.
Anyway, I am looking forward to wk 1/day 3 on Friday. Will probably go to the gym tomorrow and use the C2 rower and use the c25k podcast to time intervals and see how many meters I can row. I've been doing about 5300 in 30 minutes with the way I have been training on it.
Lets keep at it folks! We can do this!
YAY!!!
congrats to lozzle!!!!!!! ****rawr --- the crowd goes wild!!!****
that stinks about the meds, bob --- scary stuff! cool idea using the podcasts for other workouts too.
I am skiipping out today in favor of a super long bike ride and Bowflex since my tummy hurts and I do not trust it outside bouncing around. =P
So, run today. Did it, a little slower but a hell of a lot easier. I didn't feel ready to collapse. I worked too hard yesterday, and it was silly of me, I could have ended up having an astma attack!
No more runs now for a couple of days - saturday I think. Should give the legs a rest!
I just wanted to those who would understand my super happy mood that I did it! I survived the 20 minute run (Week 5, Day 3)! Those of you who said it isn't as hard as it seems it will be were absolutely right. Sure, it was tough, but it was totally do-able ![]()

*claps* Told you so. ;)
You certainly did! I even told my boyfriend what you said right before we started (I think mostly because I needed to give myself a pep talk!). It's really helpful to have you one step ahead ![]()
Hi I just wanted to jump in here and let you know that I've been reading along trying to get the motivation to get started on the c25k, and thanks to you guys I finally did it.
Sure it was just day one but hey you got to start somewhere right. I had started trying to run a couple months ago but I injured my ankle right before I found this program. Well my ankles been better for a couple of weeks now but I had lost all the drive to get out there. I keptmaking excuses and this morning there was just no excuses left. I'm really proud of myself I got through it and didn't feel like I wanted to die afterwards.
So thanks again for being so supportive on this forum!
Way to go Shellamy! Starting is definitely the hardest part ![]()
Congratulations alle and shellamy!! :D
Time to go for a runny run run...talk to all you lovely ladies later! :)
A hearty second congrats alle! And welcome aboard shellamy! This forum and the Mens AIM Motivation forum got me going with wogging. I re-injured my knee 3 years and 25 lbs ago and hadn't really tried since then until getting revved up by all the walk/jog/running talk on these forums. Got get em!
I decided to try the 3rd day of wk1 of c25k training on a more hilly
route. While I finished it got my hr into the anaerobic range, an
exertion level of 7, max hr of 121. I walked an extra 10 minutes after
the training, did not jog, just brisk walk to keep hr up. HR avg'd 98
over the full 38 minute session. The F4 yielded 182 cal burn, and Calorie
King says 221. I'm entering the F4 values into CC to be conservative,
but I wish I could get something that would accurately calc cal burn
rates... I have to be thankful to be alive and just keep takin these dang drugs! ![]()
Will start wk2 Sunday, but on a more level route than today. Today's route, while shorter, is much harder. If wk 2 gets hr to high, I'll probably repeat wk 1 on the hilly route to improve endurance. But then who knows if it will improve. The drugs I take could prevent it from changing and that would really be annoying. It could mean I might not be able to complete the c25k program. That would piss me off!
But then, going slow and thinking positively - Can Do!
Bob, I've never heard of drugs preventing you from improving your physical endurance - can they really do that?? Somehow I doubt it! Just keep thinking positive :).
Just got back from my run. It was gorgeous outside, 65 and sunny! I love running on mornings like these :).
Shellamy, welcome and good luck!
Bob, YAY!!!!
I just finished W6, and WOOHOO!
Hey, I'm new.
Started c25k before joinging this site... did week one ok.. all three workouts but I can't seem to do week two... I'm pushing myself I really am!!! but everytiem I get on the treadmill I can't seem to do it...
I have had some pain in my ankles and shins any tips to deal with that?
I haven't stopped training, I've been doing week one over again and just going for longer. (I tend to do it by time not distance) I use a treadmill so it's not hte counting...
did nayone else have this problem? I've never been fit ever so maybe it's jsut me.
thanks for the welcome everyone, kind of found it funny I wanted to go wogging today, well in my mind anyways but my calfs are screaming to take the day off. So I was good and I'm going to stick to going Sun, Tues, and Thurs. Hope everyone is doing great today!
yaaaaay I finally finished week 1 ... AGAIN lol
now I'm so pumped for week 2 to begin on monday!! hooray hoorahhh! I think over the last month or so I have actually ran with the week 1 podcast about 7 times already haha, so I'm getting a little tired of the same songs ("don't ever call meee (call me call me), don't bothhhhhher meeeeee" .. HAHA! love it).
I am feeling myself slowly getting addicted to running ... I think I might even sign up for the CIBC Run for the Cure 5K race to raise money for breast cancer research, it's on October 5 .... I was thinking it could be something to motivate me even more! (plus, I promised myself a reward of my FIRST MASSAGE EVER if I finish the 5K race haha exciting).
everyone is doing so great!!! I'm glad there are a few people that are around the same stage in the program as me; but I also love the people who are a few weeks ahead sharing their inspirational stories ... it gives me hope!!! lol
goddess9 ... I am seriously impressed
... week 6 seems so far away for me haha

Thank you! W6 will be upon you guys that are just starting before you know it, and you will be just fine! If my big butt can do it, so can you skinny minnies. ![]()
I completed my first work out of W2!
Really happy with myself :) how is everyone else doing?
How many calories do I REALLY need for breastfeeding?
You need to eat 1800 - 1900 calories a day and to limit your weight loss to one pound a week. Your extreme hunger is a sign that you... Read more
