Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds

Quote  |  Reply
Hi, my name is Suzanne and I am 23 years old. I weigh 258.3 pounds(yikes) and would really like to get down to between 140 and 150. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in their 20's who has about that much they want to lose. We could work together and stay motivated to reach our goals!!! Also, if there is anyone in their 20's who has lost that much and wants to share their success story, I would love to hear it! Thanks!

Thanks for the birthday greetings, ya'll! And happy belated birthday, feddie!

I totally did my birthday up right (although wrong from a diet perspective), and I get to weigh myself this afternoon to find out what the damage is.  Yikes!

Dalma, I hope you get the job!  It sounds like you'd enjoy it way more than what you're doing now! *crosses fingers* Good luck! :-)

mladdy, that's so awesome that you burned that many calories from just working! At least this way you don't have to feel so bad about not having time to exercise! I'm sorry you're all tired and sluggish, though.  Hopefully you'll adjust soon!

bzb and souljah, I kinda get you on the "secret mission" deal.  I don't really talk over my weight loss or counting calories with THE GUY (the guy I'm dating... not quite a bf, so I call him THE GUY, lol), but mostly because he's the opposite way: I mentioned to him on like our first date that I was trying to get in shape, and he thinks it's kind of silly since according to him *blush* I look good the way I am and also, food is just too good to limit.  *sigh*  Why are men so difficult?

Hi everyone. Hope you all are having an awesome day. Today is my day off so I just running around. Thinking about going to the outlets, but don't know yet.

I just wanted to say that although it is a little crazy in here and I don't really reply to everyone, the fact that I know there are women in this forum experienceing the same things as me is helping me to stay on my current weight loss plan. Even if noone acknowledges that I have lost weight with congrats, the fact that I feel accountable still remains and keeps me going. Instead of paying to go to Weight Watchers I have you guys and it really helps. That being said, I hope just because lots of others know eachother well on this blog that people don't drop like flys and stop posting. You should always use the journal, but being open and honest with other people about your weight really helps you own it and not ignore it. I enjoy all the little stories and stuff I read on here about jobs and boyfriends and everyones weight loss journeys. We understand eachother and what it is taking us alll to even lose a pound and that is priceless. And it is much better than reading some posts about girls that weigh 105 and hate feeling bloated after eating a handful of cheerios like other forums.

oh yeah. I weighed myself this morning(I know! I know! I said i wasn't going to!) The scale said 220.5!!!!!!!! 1.5 lbs by Tuesday! Thanks guys.

BZB, where does everyone get those great little digital pictures of "themselves"? I want one!

mvm.com

good job on the 1.5 lbs, bzb! and if you go to the outlets, buy something for me!

feddiechick: Yay goth party and prom! You will get tons of excercise in for both I am sure! Who said excercise can't be fun? Don't worry...I am sure you are doing great! Happy belated birthday to you too!

pinkcobra: You are so betty crocker! It's awesome that you made your own popsicles! I am jealous of your innovation! I bet they are great!

souljahg305: I am sorry for never properly welcoming you in....but yay for passing up taco bell! You rock!

mladdy: I am sorry you aren't getting to spend as much time with your son! At least though you are burning some calories while working, and I bet that when you do get to see your son, the time spent with him is even more valuable! Come on Melanie! Don't get off the wagon! You can sooo do this! I will keep you in my prayers! Don't get caught up in the Boo hoo's. Life is way too cool! Way to go on still getting a deficient in!

rgb0622: Your mothers methods of keeping you away from coffee sound like my dads methods of keeping me from beer. When I was 7 or 8 I said to him that when I grow up I will drink beer all the time. He told me if I tasted it and liked it,  I could drink all the beer I want. But if I didn't like it, I had to stay away from it. I tasted it and GROSS! To this day, I still can't stand the taste. Coffee is a different story though. I have been sneaking coffee since I was 6!

dalma: It is weird that you haven't been invited to this meeting. I hope your director gives you good news, like that you will have a more active role! Good luck. I hope your birthday was good! I am going to be 24 in May, and I am freaking out a little. Only a year till 25! For some reason, 25 scares me, so saying you are 24 is a good call! Good luck getting the new job...it would be awesome to get a job you love! It cracks me up that you missed your own party! You are a riot!

watchme: I will keep in touch, but I definitly expect to still see  you here as well!

allydan: So does you mentioning THE GUY mean he stopped being busy?

bzb90031: Yay for 1.5 pounds down! I agree that just knowing there is always support here is a great feeling! I also agree that we shouldn't stop posting when we can. Soon, we will all know each other well. I am all for lots of members here for support! Yay for losing weight together!

Ok girls. I haven't been doing terrible. Nor have I been doing well. But for the first time, the other day that calorie coach thing gave me a thumbs down! Boo thumbs down! So anyway, I am revamping. Yesterday and today I went for a very brisk walk on my fifteen minute breaks...so 45 minutes total of excercise for 2 days so far. I plan on doing that whenever it's nice out...then I will get at least .5 hour of excercise in everyday. But the road I walk, by the time I walk down and back to work it's like a half mile! Yay for walking a mile today! (Cause I walked on both breaks today). Also, now that I am trying for 1700 calories a day instead of 1400 this seems more doable. I hope to be down to 248 by May 20, my birthday!

I will really try not to get 100 posts behind again, but everyone is doing great!

the same thing happened with me with beer, suzanne! when i was like 5, an aunt gave me a sip, even though i don't remember asking to taste it. anyway, it was SO gross, SO disgusting, i don't drink ANY alcohol AT ALL. i can't stand the taste of alcohol! the bottle of wine i dropped on my foot was to take to the party for everyone else to drink!

HAHAHAHAH.  Cracking up!!!!  That is definitely a great thing about this forum.  Congrats on losing weight bzb.  Keep fighting the good fight.

Suzanne, I feel bad I can't respond to everyone and it's hard enough to keep up with about a dozen people so I will just poke my head in still and read a few of the latest posts but not read all the posts.  I cannot feasibly read each and every post like I was doing initially and still get all my work done working 12 hours a day plus 10 hours of exercise a week :)  Just the working out and work this past week has meant I'm down to six to seven hours of sleep -- not good!!  i think i'm supposed to be getting in 9 on this workout schedule.

Dalma, apply for the other job and let us know how things are going!!  hope your foot has recovered too chica.

ally, birthdays are meant to be celebrated so don't beat yourself up about having a bit of fun :)

mc, i don't think those mvm things are all that accurate.  a bunch of us discussed that earlier in the thread.  once you get down to like 180 or so on those, they start getting more accurate but above that, even the girl who is like 265 looks slimmer than the real thing.  they also don't change at all from say 265 to 250.  where as you see the change in "inches" at the smaller numbers.

dalma: That is awesome that we share a distaste for beer and alcohol in general! I thought I was the only one! There is only one alcoholic drink I like...it's called a malibu bay breeze. It tastes like juice and doesn't taste like alcohol at all. Other than my one malibu bay breeze on fourth of july and new years, I never drink alcohol. Go us!

Watchme: I know that it's hard to try to read everything on here and to respond to everybody. But I will miss you if you go! Seriously though, I will understand, and try to keep up with your journals!

Welcome to all the newbies! Good luck to all of you! This is a great group you've decided to join!

Dalma I hope your foot heals quickly!

Souljah Way to go on turning down Taco Bell!! That's one of my favorites too! More power to you for being able to say no. One day you're boyfriend will understand, and he'll be proud of you for what you're doing for yourself!

Pink What's the recipe for your popsicles?? They sound wonderful! I'd love to try and make them some time!

BZB Way to go on the loss!!! Keep up the great work!

Ally happy belated b-day girl! Hope you really enjoyed it!

Thanks guys. And you are right! Soon we will all know eachother well. And I would like to extend out an invitation to anyone who wold like to visit Los Angeles ever, you are more than welcome to stay with me and my bf. None of you seem like nut cases(well not yet) and it would be cool if when we got down to our goal weights if we met.

Have a good night!

I fit into a size 12 skirt today at the thrift store. (and I'm a size 20!)

AHH THE BEER STORIES!!! mine is way better. you know how when you first learn to walk you hold on to the wall, the table, whatever helps stabilize you. hehe well me and my wicked bold legs (i had to get braces when i was like 2 or 3  cuz they were bad. looked like  (). foreal. i have seen the pics) anywho, i would wobble to the table, pick up the can of beer and try to chug it before i got caught. hehehe and when my dad would get it i would scream and holler and throw the biggest fit. they said i would grab  cans out of the trash cuz i knew the color and cry when i didnt get a sip. they had to get a tall trash can and ALWAYS put the beer on a counter. if i saw i would scream to be held andonce i got picked up, try to grab the can. and cry when it feel. haha.

okay, havent been doing all that great with the dieting and jogging. this summer i will be working like 30 hours a week and going to school 8-6 on tuesday and 1-10 on thurs hopefully, it will help me to get more focused. i am going to request that i get the 4am shift too. that way i CANT go out drinking. like i am about to go do right now. woohoo!! bigass beer 1.75!!! j/k haha.  i am exhausted and need sleep bad. plus i spent all my money on gas. my boy keeps calling but i keep ignoring him. i sure hope he dont just show up like he does. he will literally drag me out of the bed or come jump in and start picking at me til i get up.

Hi people, I have been stressed--eating the house down---yup! I confess tis life, I'm not pouting but confessing--I will get back on track tomorrow ..

For those of you that were wondering about calorie cycling--I found a great formula....Check it out..

1-) Go to: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ and find out your current BMR and your goal weight's BMR   2-) On the same page go to: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ harris-benedict -equation/ and multiply your current BMR by your activity level. Then do the same for your goal weight's BMR and activity level. Then you can either make adjustments from your current estimated calories to create a deficit (1000 calorie deficit or 500, subract that from you total calories) or just try eating at your goal weight's estimated calories and see how that goes for at least 4 to 6 weeks. Multiply the estimated calories you decide on by 7 and then divide them up by 7 and distribute them in any order you want throughout the week, just don't purposely dip below 1200-1500 calories per day. If you've been under-eating for your activity/weight, you might have some initial weight gain that will balance out in a few weeks while your metabolism adjusts.

HEEEEEY!!!  I live in So Cal too!  I'm about an hour north of LA, in Camarillo!  We should totally meet up and maybe walk the Santa Monica Pier sometime!  Are you talking about the Camarillo Outlets by the way!?!  I live like 7 minutes away from them!

Happy Belated Birthday, Beautiful!  That is so awesome about the size 12!  You should probably try on some 18's or 16's in some new jeans to see if you aren't truly a smaller size!

Suzanne- Thanks for the support and prayers.  I need to fully focus on the fact that life is a gift.  The rough patches are really there to remind you about all of the other truly glorious parts.

watchme- Don't go!  Your comments make me reflect on my own struggles, and I draw my strength from knowing I'm not alone in these set backs.  Plus I am truly amazed at your awesome exercise schedule.  It's because of you that I ever braved getting on the elliptical, and now I have to make myself get off!

souljah- I just have to add my "WAY TO GO" for skipping out on the Taco Bell.  It's even harder when you know your man went out of his way for you.  I tried to keep my weight loss a secret, but I just had to go searching for praise.  It didn't really pay off though, because he said he doesn't really notice because he sees me every day.  True, true, but I did have to point out that I started as a size 20, and now I'm a 14 and have lost 37 pounds since January!  I got a little "good job" from that, but men truly aren't cut out for praising.

dalmalama- I'm sorry about your foot.  I have to tell you that people also think that I'm much younger than my real age.  Several of the associates in the retail store I now work at, and a couple of the partners at my new Starbuck's job thought that I was like a Sophomore in high school!!!  I'm 27 for cripes sake, not 17!!!  I hope our young looks continue into our old age. Tongue out

fallon & feddiechick- Whoohoo for the Starbuck's chicks!  My favorite perk is the free pound of coffee every week!  I told my mom to expect beans for nearly every holiday!

Everyone- I had someone notice my weight loss yesterday!  She's an acquaintance that I haven't seen for about a month.  She commented that she wasn't sure it was me when I walked in the room, that I look great, and how did I lose so much weight!  Wow did I glow after that (and thank her profusely for noticing).

mladdy-I live in South Pasadena. We should meet up and actually ride bikes from Malibu to Redondo! Let me know! I was acually talking about Cabazon, but Camarillo Outlets are awesome, too. Once I reach my goal weight I am going to go to one of them to spend my $$$. I was beginning to think I was te only one representing CA. I should go to Camarillo and meet you.

I went to the gym tonight. 30 min. on the elip and and 25 on the treadmill(couch to 5k). I feel better than I have felt in a long time. Hope I hit 219 by Tues. Hopefully I weigh even less!

OMG!!!! i live in south pasadena too...in texas. hahaha. so much for my bigass beer. totally passed out as soon as i posted. but you know me got a feww hours asleep and now been up since a lil after 1. well i am going to attemp to go back and do some  catching up. i probably won't comment on my much cuz i have such a short  term memory, but i will see what i can do.

okay so i went back like 10 or so pages. dont remember much.  hahaha. happy very belated 24 and other bday. welcome newbies. good thing the job things are working out for everybody. uh... yea think thats all i got. oh yea something about green tea but i am not a fan and freak'n awesome sounding popsicles. good job pink. right, it was you? hahaha

the one thing, i read every time it is mentioned and try to process what you guys say. even asked the person on cc and we discussed for awhile. i just dont get it. the calorie deficient. my  daily is 1650, my burn meter is 2270. so does that mean i only get a 820 deficient? i want to get 1000 tho. does that mean to make sure i  do my 2 miles or does that mean to eat less? or am i way off? i always stop at about 1200 or 1300 for alcohol calories. i very rarely get anywhere near 1650. especially now that i havent been really dieting. just sandwiches, salads, cereal and a decent dinner or no dinner.  i'ld say i hit about 1200 max every day regardless.

i will never ask again. so do i understand it or not?
