HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!
if you have any suggestions, please tell me....

sorry to hear about your cat tabby! Both of my kitties sleep in bed w/ me adn I would be soooo worried if they got out. Did you have him chipped? Hopefully someone finds him adn takes him to a vet and they can get him back to you.

how about everyone who is doing the challenge posts their current weight and their goal for the end of the challenge!

my current weight (w/ the help of everyone here!) is 215!

my goal for the end of the challenge is (hang on, gotta go look) 190. I think I can get down to 180 but I want to do something I know I can reach.

ahhh spent all night serving beer and wine at the farmers market. my club joins w/ our sister club to serve the beer and we use the money to give away as grants to nonprofit community service organizations. so that was fun, but my lower back hurts :(

I'm anxious to see if I'm still at 215 tomorrow morning!
Hi there everyone! My name is Stephanie, this is about my 3rd day on c-c. I haven't been doing to good. I am getting better though. And actually started excercising a little more. I now walk my 3 dogs everyday for about 30 mins to an hour depending on the weather!! I am currently 20 years old, soon to be 21!! And I am 5'4 and approx 210 lbs. My goal is to be at 175 lbs for my sisters wedding in Sept. I don't think its too steep of a goal, but I am def trying to work hard and show a difference in my body. hey stephanie! the beginning is hte hardest but the more you count calories adn start to really realize how many calories are in everything you eat it gets easier. It truly is a lifestyle change adn the longer you do it the easier it will be. This group is great for support. I am at 215 and hoping to be around 180 by september when I do my first triathlon so we are in teh same boat. I am 5'5" and am doing 1300 calories and losing steadily. Keep us updatedo n your progress!

Stats for yesterday were not good...Day 26, (Wed. May 16) 2132 calories, 36 ounces water, and very little effort.  THings went crazy here yesterday...my youngest is tantruming horribly and there is still 2 weeks left until his sleep study...then we can put him back on his meds...yesterday I actually worried about when he is a grown up and he has a tantrum like that, I would have to call the police for help...Thank God there are meds out there that can help him...can't wait till the sleep study and then find an appropriate med...The bank won't take the guardianship papers for my oldest so I have to have them re-done...Once again I'm thanking God, our lawyer did not charge us to do the whole thing and I am hoping she won't charge us to change them to what the bank wants...(the papers say AND...My husband AND me not my husband OR me)  stupid right?????...and then, I found out that one of the workers from the state stole $310 of my son's money...She only worked here for 3 hours and told the state she worked 14...and they paid her.  Now he has $310 less to use for other workers until they can investigate her...Why do people have to steal????

So last night I made us all pizzas, carefully measuring out mine (944 calories for the thing) and then I ate it ALLLLLLLLLLL....I was starving..(it felt like I was)....didn't eat enough the day before and then stressed out I ate it all.  Normally I put half away for the next day...  I spent most of the evening mad at myself...I am feeling more and more complacent with what I weigh...I have been telling myself that I look so much better...I need to tell myself I am fat or somethng similar to get me back on track...  This morning I figured out that if I take all 4 days of this week and average them then I am only at 1875 calories each day which isn't the end of the world but today I have to do better....I still want to loose 9 more pounds in the next 25 days....

Gosh Tabby...I am sorry about your rough week...I hope your cat comes back and that things look up for you...

If I didn't have you guys...there are days I could have eaten myself into oblivion...Thank you so very much for being here...I really need you.

Wow! Ginny, you encourage me! I was over 300 when i started to diet 9 mos ago, and look how much you have lost! wonderful! i'm stuck at 48 lbs lost and very frustrated, but i guess i just need to be patient and keep on doing the right things. better to be patient than to be a patient, lol!

Stephanie, welcome, and know that you are doing just about what we all did in the first few days. it takes time to make a positive start. you will do just fine.

Hi all! I havent been on in a few days. I also went to Cici's Pizza Tuesday night and ate 3 pieces, salad, 2 breadsticks, and dessert! I went to 2500 calories that day! I felt bad yesterday so i slept mostly! Now today I woke up and I feel like something is stuck in my throat! I had my metamucil last night cuz of all the cheese I ate the other night! I am drinking coffee today and back on track but it still feels like something is stuck in my throat!!
That challenge I will check on after i take my son to school!
More BAD NEWS, my friend who i babysit for just quit her job last night and she is moving to Colorado on Jun 17. That means less money for me which really sucks. I need healthy food choices for cheap!! Any ideas any1! I probably get another person within a month but we are leaving out of town to visit more family soon! So we need to save save save. The GOOD NEWS--my house will be quiet with just my family again!!
Can u tell i need to vent today? I really want chips and chocolate chip cookies? I am still 220 and want to keep losing but today is a real bad day!!
Maybe since I have not ate nothing but coffee today I will get a Mcchicken, no mayo, add tomato and pickle!!!

hey dream. i'm a poor college student so if I can buy the good stuff anyone can! I actually don't go shopping much though. I tend to buy fruits and veggies and tehn they go bad before I get a chance to eat them! But I do manage to stay under 1300 cals. Usually w/ coffee in the morning, a salad or soup for lunch, oatmeal or strawberry mini wheats for a snack in teh afternoon, then dinner. I do chicken and potatoes a lot for dinner. And if I'm lucky some wine or beer after dinner! But I'm not home all day so its' easier for me to avoid food!

hey that makes me think....i don't think I've eaten out of teh vending machine at work for months! wow. I haven't had fast food for months either. I didn't even make a conscious effort to avoid it. that's great! still at 215 today so i guess even if i don't lose anything this week I still lost 4 pounds last week so it's okay. My body seems to go one week losing, one week steady. thats annoying!
Thanks KT for the advice I really appreciate it. Do u just eat plain potatoes or mashed? I like rice too...I had chicken, rice, with cream of chicken last night...was really good!!!
Ginny - hang in there girl, it's bound to get better. I notice that the downers usually last anywhere from 1 day to 7. Just keep on thinking of the good things you have in your life and the people you love and how you want to be there to see them grow and how you want to feel good doing it!  I understand about the "I look good as I am" syndrome. I have told myself that all of my life. Now I am doing this for my health. I have been told to just imagine how good I would look if I was thinner. How am I supposed to imagine that when I have never known me as anything but fat??? So, we cannot justify staying fat if we want to live and feel good while doing it. It's not about how we look, it's about HEALTH!!!

Tabby - I am sorry about your cat. That is a real bummer! She will probably be back. I have a friend whose cat disappeared for six months and came home tired and scroungy but happy to be home and healthy. Don't give up hope. Stay on track and don't let the depression beat ya!
yeah we too on a limited budget......which sucks cause when u have money u can buy the real good stuff but on a budget it is tougher!!!

Oatmeal is a cheap breakfast, yougurt for snack dannon makes a 60 calorie one they run about .65 cents each and yummmmmmmy!!  for lunches ilike these rice bowls, 280 calories i think ill check when i go to fix one, they run about 1.50 each....then i usually have crackers or something for an afternoon snack or mix it up with veggies and fruit, i go to the cheap store for that like aldis or save alot ........  dinners are tough we eat green beans almost every night 15 calories a serviing i get a whole cup for 30 calories!!  then we have cheap cheap dinner like hamburger helpers i just eat my portion though!!!!  and have a salad as well sometimes but i always eat my veggies first and slowwwwwwww..... and after dinner i have a sweet freedom fudge ba 35 calories 2.50 or so a box!! 

we have 5 in our family and i budget 120 a week on groceries, however wentlast week with 80 dollars i didnt buy my diet pepsi and junk anyway maybe that will help!!!

seems though the cheap foods have all the calories but i have been exploring weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Hello Everyone!

I'm back just for today.  It seems everyone has been busy!

Stephanie - Welcome!  The first few weeks of starting a new healthier lifestyle is the toughest.  Even after you've started it's a struggle.  I struggle every day.  Having the support group really helps.  Everyone here understands where your feelings are coming from.  We've all be there!

Ginny - That is horrible about that worker and your son!  I can't believe that a person can consciously do that to another human.  I hope the investigation goes in your son's favor.

Dream - I found that cooking at home is much more cheaper than buying prepared foods.  I always keep cut up carrots and celery in the fridge.  At first I used to buy baby carrots.  Then, I started buying regular carrots and taking the time to cut them up.  I'm having a hard time switching from bagged lettuce to heads of lettuce.  The hardest part for me was switching from my usual intake of high calorie, high fat items that my palate had become accustomed to.  Now, when I eat something, I literally taste all the grease in it and it totally turns me off.  Don't get me wrong, I still crave it but, not as often.

Carol - Almost 50 lbs!  That's great!!  Keep up the good work and you'll hit your number.  I'm proud of you!

Blue, V, Chris and everyone else!  Great job on your losses as well...!  Did I forget someone??  I'm sorry if I did....keep up the good work!

Well, yesterday we took another day trip and visited the in-laws.  We had such a great time.  I did really well with my calories.  I turned away beer and wine and bread and only went 32 calories over for the day.  (Goal 1500).  So, I'm pretty happy about that.

Tomorrow, we are headed back to the in-laws to help them with their tag sale for the weekend.  I suspect it will be a struggle for me keep within my calories but, the 1.4 lbs I just lost will be a great motivator!

Alright...have to go run some errands....no shopping today just groceries...ehehehehe.....check in later if I have time!
PS TAB - I'm sorry to hear about your cat.  I hope he makes his way back home soon!  
dream i usually do mashed, that comes in dry flakes already. since I often don't get home until 7 or 8 I need something I can whip up real quick. The calories in them really aren't bad. I use nonfat milk and only half the amount of butter the recipe calls for. Usually when I do chicken and mashed potatoes it is around 500 calories (I eat more potatoes than I should hehe).

I always forget how good grean beans are! ooooo i need to go get some now!
Hi. This is my first day on cc. I'm 5'2" weigh 226 and need all the help I can get. My goal is to lose 50 lbs for now. When I get there,I'll see how I feel and go from there. Last night I went to Jazzercise and that was the first exercise class in years. I am trying to look at one day at a time, because the task seems monumental!!!
Welcome PJ you found the right group for support!!!!  I always quit dieting myself around week 3......but this group of people have helped me and i have managed 4 1/2 weeks and have no desire to quit!!!

Imma have to try the flakes instead of the real potatoes KT im sure the real ones have way more calories and i love CARBS!!!!!
PJ welcome!  This is a great site.  I've been here since March 14, 2007 and I've lost 17 lbs so far.  My first goal was to lose 15 lbs by June.  Perhaps you'll want to break up your goal and take it in small steps so that it doesn't seem so monumental.  Maybe for the first month learn to eat healthier and staying within a certain amount of calories and then say 10 lbs goals at a time.  It'll make it much more manageable. 

I love Jazzercise.  I used to take the classes but, I moved and haven't found a class yet.  I'm going to look into finding one very soon.  It really is a total complete workout.
