140/130 club

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

oh i definitely wanted to buy up all the easter candy that was on sale yesterday at walmart..  but i walked on by :) yay me :)

ugh, just got a message from hubby.. apparently our date for the ball is wrong, its the 20th not the 19th.. so i have one more day to wait than i thought i did...  ugh...

but on a brighter note, my scale was being extra nice to me today... :)  i weighed in at 141.5 :) i totally was like no way lol..  had to step on it a couple times to make sure.. i lost another lb...  maybe i should do maintenance days more often :)

candy is so good! I've been avoiding it as well.. on sale at Giant Eagle. I don't really have a hard time not buying these things... just have a hard time when people give them to me! lol. Good job passing it up! Stay strong! :)

So glad to hear your scale is playing nice today! :) I'm glad the maintenance days are working out for you! Keep up the great work!!
thanks stacey :)

oh i forgot to mention, my little ones have been sick the last couple days with a cough, runny nose...  and now i have a sore throat.. ugh i sooooo totally dont wanna get sick..  :( am thinking i should of started on airborne when they first started with the colds.. wonder if its too late now.. :(
vicki - if you are around.. i went to reply to the message i received from you and got this..

User not found or permission denied.

so then i went to your profile, and saw you werent on my friends list.. (odd since i thought you were, and i know i was on yours since you commented on my journal entry.. ) so i clicked to add you, and got this... ??

Sorry, vcooper has requested to not be added to your friends list.

i dont know if its something with cc, or if you accidentally clicked on block user??? or what lol..
UNICAT - duh!!!    computer geek I am not - blocked you by mistake, couldn't figure out where you had gone either.  I am with LILY, on the journals took me a while to find them.

dharam - good luck with the chin up bars, I have tried a couple of times and just give up.

teen - I have the resistance tubes, I like those better than weights.  they were hard to get use to at first.

I also like those 100 calorie packs as snacks.  I also have continued with the mini-rice cakes.  The cheddar cheese ones by Quaker are excellent.  Tea helps me too.

My husband wanted to go to Drug Mart the day after Easter and buy candy, could have killed him.  But he gained 2 pounds last week so he decided not too.  YEAH!!!
srd, i'm the same way!  i can seriously avoid buying the stuff, i just can't deal when people hand it to me!  my hubby bought me a little container of robin eggs for easter (malt balls).  they are my favorite!  not too horrible though, 170 for 24 of them and there were only 3 servings ... and he had some too. :)  i thanked him for only buying a small one!

carabo, one snack i LOVE that's pretty filling are these grapfruit cups that they sell next to the prepared bags of salad.  they are 120 for the whole thing and i love love love grapefruit and they are pretty big too.  they have other flavors too, but they're higher cal and i love grapefruit the most, so it's an obvious choice for me. string cheese and light nf yogurt are also a good ones!

mcboddy - nyc was awesome!!  we went to two broadway shows, did a dinner cruise, walked the brooklyn bridge, road bikes through central park ... and walked walked walked everywhere!  it is such a cool city with endless things to do ... and lots of super yummy food! :)  i had a blast, thanks for asking!  plus, i was able to be good and maintain while i was there despite all the treats, which i think threw my plateau-ed body back into weight loss mode.  what more could i ask for!? :)

unicat, if you're just getting the first signs of your cold, airborne will still work!  i swear by that stuff!  yeah, u prolly shoulda taken it when the kids got sick, but if you're just feeling the sore throat, it's not too late.  plus, there's a TON of vitamins in that stuff, so it definately couldn't hurt.  hey, i bet you're losing weight 'cause although you're 'maintaining' you're not counting calories for all your running around (too hard to count), but you're prolly creating a deficit that you can't see.

vcoop, hillarious about your hubby!  mine wouldn't know if he gained or lost, so that wouldn't stop him.  it's cool that yours is aware.

i had a good run with my hubby last night.  i changed up my sexy arms video a bit.  instead of doing two chapters with 5 lb weights, i did one chapter 3 times with 3 lb weights.  i don't know which is better to do.  these exercises are constant motion with the weights, so i'm not sure if it's better to do sets of them or just do the 3 chapters in row (which i can't do with 5 lb weights).  btw, this video is SEROIUSLY hard, i'm often using 8 lb weights in other videos and in weight training ... just so you guys don't go and think i'm a wimp! ;)
unicat, how do you send a message to someone.  i know how to reply, but i don't know how to start one.
Teen - my husband has been a great support, when I started this weight loss/change of life in January  he was right there with me.  We have completely changed our eating habits and exercise, and have stuck with it.  He is not as obsessed as I am, but he does the eliptical every night.  He is better refraining from snackin then I am - oh well!!!!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/article s/news/news.html?in_article_id=447651&in_ page_id=1770

interesting and sobering article.. It stresses on the fact that real weight loss only occurs when we change lifestyles and lose weight gradually ... So what we are doing here maybe the only thing to do!

vicki - just added you back :) yay :) and my husband would of been right there with yours trying to buy clearance candy, lol. good thing hes not here... :)

teen - i went ahead and took my first dose of airborn, hope it helps..  another in about 2 hrs..  gonna try to stay on top of it, but i am horrible at remembering to take pills, etc..  and its possible you are right about my deficit i am not seeing due to all the running around.. since i am normally pretty sedentary except for the exercise i plan in every day..   about sending messages, right next to my name is an envelope with a blue arrow through it, click on it :0)  or you can go to someones profile and the same thing...

carabo - this HAS to be the right way to lose it :0)  changing lifestyle so we arent eating all that stuff that made us fat to begin with :) edit: to date i have lost 66.5 lbs since we arrived here in hawaii last may, so i hope i have been losing it the right way :)

okay got the kids off to school. time to exercise :) yay :)

Carabo-I know what you mean about the cravings! Im not usually that bad but lately, it's been ridiculous!  For snacks, I usually eat air-popped popcorn (throw some garlic salt on there and it's yummy! the air popper only costs around 14$ at walmart/target). At work, Ill munch SHELLED sunflower seeds.. they take so long to eat haha..The whole package  (2.5 oz bag) has 220 cals in it, but I've been working on one for days and still have quarter of a bag..For the sweet tooth, Im finding sugar free lifesaver toffee flavor great (8.5 cals each, very rich and creamy tasting for what they are!) and Sweet n Low hard candies (they're big, last a while, and 6 cals.. not the greatest but do take the edge off!)  And almost any fruit..apples are so good for you in so many ways (65 cals), grapes, and berries are all low cal too.

Srd-Great job stopping at 2 eggs! I wish my willpower was as good.. polished off 5 mini marshmellow eggs and 2 cookies last night.. then went to the gym to make them go away lol. One day I have to realize that the crime isnt worth the punishment!  In terms of later cravings, I'd say having desert later could definately help.. kinda like, it's its own 'snack' rather than part of dinner, if that makes sense.

Dharm-Good luck with the chin ups! theyre so hard..I've been doing the chin up assist at the gym..I've gotten down to 60lbs resistence (aka help lol) but can't do real ones yet. Have fun!

Unicat-Way to Go for walking away from the easter candy..and CONGRATS on 141.5!  I agree with you, too that what we're doing here HAS to be the 'right' way to lose and maintain.  I'm down 60 even overall by making changes and counting (though I don't log anymore and havent for a while.. when I plateau I start for a few days then go back to just watching portions and keeping a mental tally).. congrats, too on 66.5! That's amazzinnnnng and has to feel so good

Vcoop-haha! Im glad Im not the only one getting a late start in journal-land :)

Teen-good job with the run and changing up your routine. Im not sure which one would be considered better but variety is definately good :-)

Things are going pretty well today .. much faster than yesterday thank GOODNESS.. 2 gym trips in one day yestrerday--the usual a.m.. and the 'oops' pm.. That's not fun I might add.  The Candy is so not worth it.  Other than that though, nothing major happening..I peaked at the scale today just to see if easter had a bad effect or not.. seems not, Im right where I was (I don't usually see the scale move til thurs or later.. so this was good!)  Ok all.. hope your days are going great!!!  Keep up the good work!
unicat--Did you ever try following the "Curves" way?  Any luck?  I am still sticking with it.  Hit 136.6 low Monday but high is still 138.  My goal for this week was 134 not looking so good now.  Just over 15lbs lost but still need more than 10 for my goal.

teenwolf --Congrats just read back and saw your 143!  Way to go. We have way to much in common. Malt eggs are my demise this week. Beer is out of the question for the most part lately.  Drank on Easter but not much.

My Hubby just joined the country club and that will be a problem.  Can't hang out at the bar and drink and still make it to my goal of 130 by month end.

Vicki- my husband joined me too.  1st he just snooped and nagged but I realized he was contemplating how hard this might be.  He has lost 25lbs. since early March, he is so HOT again.  6'2" he was 235 at least when this started now he is around 210.  I wish I could lose like that.  He works hard at it though.  It really helps that he isn't snacking and drinking while I am trying to eat healthy and lose weight.

My 3 girls are killing me this week.  Spring break all week and cold weather in jersey.  What is Mother Nature thinking?  1 sick all week , 1 cranky and 1 bugging because we cancelled our NYC trip due to the sick one.  EEEKKKK!   I need some candy!

Better get back to work.  Working for your husband can be nice when you think about it.

Have a great hump day hope the 2nd 1/2 of the week brings smaller numbers for all.
yay lily :0) 60 lbs lost is awesome isnt it :) dont you feel like you have accomplished sooooooooo much?? and thank you.. i like my new low number :)  i bet you REALLY didnt enjoy that double workout yesterday.. so totally not worth it, eh?

mcboddy - naw i dont guess i never really tried following the curves way, i guess i decided what i was doing had been working for me for this long, i might as well not give up on it..  nice new low number for you :)  sounds like a blah spring break... :(
Ideally I'd like to be 125, but I'd be happy with 130 ^_^;

Anyways, this site is really great, even just adding my activities and food makes me want to make better choices in what I eat and also GO DO SOMETHING INTERESTING SO THAT I HAVE SOMETHING INTERESTING TO ADD TO MY LOG.

So wonderful... then again this is only my second day here counting calories... maybe my motivation will be less in the coming days, however, I haven't felt deprived of anything so far... then again maybe I'm just afraid to go over my limit ~_~

Keep up the good work everyone~!

~ Chiyo <3

just wanted to drop in and say hi! i don't have time today to respond to everything, so i'll try to catch up tomorrow! i actually have work today. go figure :)
i agree chiyo :) this site totally holds me accountable :)

awww poor morgan, actually having to work today lol..

and ugh... i just weighed myself after my shower..  shouldnt of lol..  i realize its been almost 4 hours since i got up, and i have eaten, and drank almost 24 oz of water, and a shake, and such, but it said 144.5 which was totally depressing lol..  but i know i know..  its gonna go up during the day.. lol.
That happened to me the other day too, unicat lol.. but sure enough the next morning when I stepped on the scale at the normal time, it was right where it should be..so no worries!

Aww kiigan, work??? what's that again? jk Speaking of which my break is up in 6 mins haha..and I havent eaten yet!
Oh Morgan what a shame, working at work  : 0 )

chiyo - this site definitely holds you accountable, its nice to know where you are and what you need to do tonight for dinner or workout more.
mcboddy - the support is great.  He was the one who encouraged me in the first place, but then he got on the bandwagon.  He is down to 175, and looking great!!!!!!

One of the girls I work with is also losing and working out along with me, we started this together.  He is a stay at home DAD, so he makes dinner.  He refused to prepare healthy meals or change their eating habits, because it was a hassle for him.   They butted heads for quite awhile, but he has finally come around.
Vcooper: I know, yesterday AND today I was like "well I'm doing okay for today reaching my goals and not going overboard with FOOOOD, so I can slack a bit with supper and then whatever is left will determine if I can have a snack later."

I feel great~!

I also really love how the site gives you a nutrition grade OVER ALL for the day or for how long you've been counting so that you can figure out if you're just cutting down on food all together and still eating junk, or actually spreading out healthy foods.

I'm a little worried right now though, because I'm starting work at McDonald's in 2 weeks... what are some good ways to resist eating the food on my breaks? (I never NORMALLY go to McDees, but when I worked at a department store it was just TOO TEMPTING to not pick up some sort of snack on my way out after shift.)
