140/130 club

Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

i think i've actually read that article before.  it's definitely good and informative, but just kind of reiterates the idea that there's no set way to calculate protein needed.  if you go by the second method--calorie allowance--a 140 lb woman needs 90 g.  if you go by the 0.8 g/kg of body weight, she only needs about 50.
WTG KIIGAN! you're right there w/me now! :) well... not today... haha... I'm at 142 this morning. Kinda, well, definitely overate the last few days. Hopefully I'll be back there w/you soon!

I should probably start counting things like protein... I just know that I get a good amount in my yogurt and I also love fish and chicken... :)

Tonight I'm making campbell's clam chowder and potatoes for dinner, also some peas. Yum! Good girl diet here I come! :)

Not too much else goin on here. I'm going to try and catch up w/everyone's journals on my lunch break, so if you posted and you're my "friend" I'll try to respond! :)

talk to you all soon!
i LOVE LOVE LOVE clam chowder.  sounds like a really tasty dinner. and actually, stacey, you might end up surprised at how little protein you get.  i'll have milk at breakfast, yogurt as a snack, and a turkey sandwich, and still only have around 30-40 grams of protein.  i can usually increase it with dinner, but sometimes i still end up really low if i'm not too careful.  i'm sure that your weight will drop in the next couple of days.  maybe it'll even go lower than before!!!

i'm glad because it's a little bit warmer today than it has been-nice and sunny too! i'm hoping to get outside jogging soon!!!
Hey everyone.

This is my first post on this as i'm currently 138lbs after sticking at 142 for months on end.  I started a new job which envolved me walking a lot more than i normally did and it just dropped of me!  Now i'm hoping to loose another 8lbs in the next month and i'm really positive this time.  I eat really well during the week but its the weekend when i really stuggle with temptation....anyone else get this??  also, excersise is my big downful - i do lots of walking i guess but i can't motivate myself to do anymore than that!!  It always seems like such a chore!!

The only tip I can give is to eat tones of fresh fruit and veg throughout the day and lots of nuts and seeds with water and herbal teas in between.  Then a nice dinner with rice, veg and meat or something.....  If i stop eating around 7pm at night, i do get hungry around 9pm but just try to sleep through it!!  i feel so much less bloated when i wake up!!

Good luck everyone!
morning ladies :) congrats morgan on the new low :) yay :)  and stacey, i havent looked at your journal entry yet, but i will :)

i hit a new low this morning too..  even with two maintenance days in a row :)  142.5 YAY :)  and i am also up early like i said i would be, now just to see if i get some exercise in soon this morning :) i'm gonna let my breakfast settle for a little bit :) and i did wind up with plenty of water in yesterday :)  yippppeee :)

hope everyone else is having a good tuesday :)
~Brigitte~
welcome sarah! good luck with the weightloss! it's awesome that you were able to find a job that incorporates more movement.  i have to artificially increase mine by just walking around the office for no real reason and lowering my efficiency so taht i have to go up and down stairs more often :)  weekends are always difficult, so i try to be good and just snack on fruits and veggies instead of breads.  i just try to keep it in moderation, even if i'm not being really good :)  have you tried drinking tea at night to curb the hunger? you might end up having to pee but hey :)

congrats brigitte! that's awesome!!!  and good job getting up! that in and of itself is quite the accomplishment! now get in some exercise! :)
Thanks everyone...

Well I am 23 years old. I am 5' 6.5" tall (seriously right between the two), and live in a weight range of 139-145.  I am recovering from an eating disorder, turned binge disorder.  (Went from175lbs-115lbs-165lbs, to get where I am now has been a struggle.  Now I eat between 1000-1200 cals a day of mostly healthy foods, (I am addicted to chocolate, and trail mix). scattered throughout the day.  I work out for about two hours five times a week (approx 30 min cardio, 1.30 of heavy weight training, abs, and streaching)  On my off days from the gym I usually get out for at least a half hour walk.  Otherwise, for the last eight months I am a student and am rather inactive, sitting in class, sitting and studying, sitting and researching, sitting and writing a lab report.  I hate counting calories, but it is the only way I know of that I can make sure that I am eating enough during the day.

I sometimes, go away for the weekend and eat around 1500cals and don't work out.  That could those weekends be the reason I can't loose anymore?  I wanted to get down to 125lbs beacuse that was the lowest weight I held before I started to get really insane about weight loss, but I doubt its possible to do healthy as I have a rather muscular build.  I really just want to get back down to 135, thats where I think I will feel comfortable.  But I am not sure how to get there, or how to maintain it if I did... without going over bord.

Sorry for the lengthy post... everyone in this group seems so kind and open.  I thought I would just let it all out and see what happens.
The reason that really jumps out to me about why you aren't losing is because you're not eating enough.  Those 1500 calorie days are a lot closer to the amount you should be eating to lose weight.  I know it'll be really hard for you to feel okay about adding calories, but if you want to lose weight in a healthy way, that's what you'll need to do.  Your metabolism has probably adjusted to the 1000-1200 calorie intake level, and slowed down so that it won't burn any more than that.  With the amount that you workout, you should really be eating closer to 1800 on a regular basis.

Personally, I'm 5'4.5", about 140 lbs, and workout almost every day for an hour to an hour and a half.  I do combinations of cardio and strength training.  I eat healthy, but usually eat around 1500-1900 calories each day.  I usually have or two days during the week when I eat more than that.  And although my weight loss has slowed down, I'm still losing weight (and inches!).

You are already in a healthy BMI range for your height--so I wouldn't focus too much on the number of pounds you lose.  Can you focus instead on measuring yourself in inches or going by what size clothing you wear? That might help to give you a better impression of yourself and what you want to improve.  It is difficult for people with a healthy BMI to lose many pounds, and so the real difference comes with strength training and cardio work combined with healthy eating.

We're all here to help and support each other, so please feel free to post any questions, concerns, triumphs, whatever!
unicat- great on the new low! congrats! way to get yourself out of bed! I hope you get those exercises in like you want!

kiigan- thanks for the info! I'll have to start tracking that to make sure I get enough. What else has protein? I may have to invest in a blender so I can start making some protein shakes! I could take those to class with me! :) Last time we made clam chowder we put extra clams in and it was SO GOOD! but they weren't on sale this week so we couldn't do it again

welcome sarah! I have the SAME thing going on! I completely lose it on the weekends! I didn't do too bad this past weekend till we went to my b/f's parents' house for Easter dinner.... completely lost it! I'm going to start trying to follow the same meal plan on the weekends that I do on weekdays. It sounds kind of obvious but I used to just let loose on the weekends and now I'm learning that I can't really do that!

tomorrow I'm switching it up a little and putting tuna on my salad with oil and vinegar dressing... YUM! Can't wait!

talk to you all soon! keep up the good work!
i'm getting about 70 grams of protein each day and i think that's pretty good.  my yogurt, milk, string cheese, turkey sandwich and dinners all add to it, so i don't think i'm going to change anything for now.

kiigan - 139.5!?  AWESOME!!  Way to go!!  Congratulations on making your 140 goal.  Goes to show, if you keep on pushing through, you'll get there! :)

sarah - welcome!

unicat - great job hitting 142.5!!!  maybe your body really was craving some maintenance days!!

vicstudentoria - yep, what kiigan said, she's right on!  i'm 5'2" 142lbs and i work out 30-60 minutes 5-6 days a week.  i eat about 1600 calories per day and i'm losing an average of about 1 lb a week.  i really think you need to up your calories, esp. with the way you work out!  i think you're squashing your metabolism.  also, like kiigan said as well, you're in a healthy number weight.  work on how you look now, not the number on the scale!  if you're not happy with the way you look, you should be concentrating on toning, not losing.

as for me, i weighed in today and i'm in shock!!  i weighed in at 142 (was praying for 143)!!  i'm very very surprised since i weighed 144 on friday (also a new low).  i haven't been doing weights too much the last two weeks, you guys don't think i'm losing muscle do you?  i've been doing lots of cardio though and have noticed some inches missing off my body.  i don't know why i can't just be happy with this new low, it just seemed too fast.  maybe i'm over analyzing though ...
btw, i definately wasn't dehydrated.  i had to get up and pee twice last night while i was sleeping and drank more water than usual yesterday.  but i didn't get to work out ... went on a much needed costco run instead. :)
Woohoo weighed in today at 141.5 I've been doing really good not snacking at my desk and keeping my calorie intake around 1200 calories.  Also I am cutting out beer which makes me over eat on the weekends I did go out one night but managed to not over eat this weekend!  To get to the 130's I know I have to really kick myself in the butt to excersise.  My parents are visiting this weekend so I hope I can stay on track.
wow! everyone is just kicking @$$ with their numbers today!

wolfie--great job! 142 is super awesome! i don't think you're going to lose that much muscle in 5 days--so don't sweat it :) could be that all the water you drank helped flush some excess stuff out of your system.  just rejoice in the lost weight and keep going.  realize that some of it might come back, but it'll go away again :)

congrats to you too, tara! that's great you were able to cut out beer.  i enjoy my indulgences too much to give it up :) but it would help me cut back on overdosing on the weekends, LOL :)

my day is just dragging...i need to focus and try to get some actual work done
awesome job guys! hopefully I'll see a drop tomorrow!

have a good day!
it's a number party today for sure!!  we should all stop working and just dance around! ;)  hahaha!
Happy Tuesday, all!

Welcome Vicstudentoria and Sarah!!

Kiigan-Congratsssss on clearing 140! Im so excited for you (and maybe a tad jealous haha.. but you deserve it for sure!)

unicat-YAYYYY on a new low.. another Congrats!!!!

Teen-I'm having fun with this now!  Congrats to you tooooo on 142.  I'm sure you're not losing muscle either.. too soon.  I would gather that it's probably a good idea to let your muscles have a rest now and then, anyway.  Be happy about ur #... you earned it!

Tara-great job avoiding the snacks at work and on 141!  Both are great accomplishments!

My day's draggin' too Kiigan..Ug.  And I came so close to blowing the cals last night, too.  I put the jelly beans at work back but when I was making my partner's easter basket.. well.. I started to eat some of what i was putting into the basket haha (like 500 calories of 'some'.. wasnt even alot of food just high in cals, not fair).  But, normally I would have just continued.. instead my roomie and I went to the gym and I burned off every single sugar calorie I had consumed and ended up safely at my 1200 for the day.  Whew. Just hope today picks up some so I'm bussyyyy.

Lastly, rock on with the # party everyone!  No-Cal margaritas coming right up!  it was so motivating/exciting to see so many of you reach goals/hit new lows and making so much progress today!  I can't weight in daily.. it'd make me nuts lol.. I already think too much about those #s. But reading all this success makes me look forward to weigh-in day :)
way to burn off all those sugar cals, lily! woohoo! and good job stopping eating them too :) that's half the battle right there. i know work's not going to pick up, and i won't be able to work on something i thought i would get to cuz i lost the pswd and can't get it until tomorrow...blah!  good luck with weigh-in day!

i got this new pair of shorts at target today that have like, sweat wisking underwear built in...i'm curious to try them out...if nothing else, should be interesting! lol.
Thanx kiigan.. you're always so supportive :)

Sweat whisking underwear?? wow lol... you'll have to let us know how that goes haha!

The day's not picking up here either, so I ate a big (good) lunch to make sure I was full on good stuff (boca burger, lotssss of broccoli, and an apple and a few baby carrots.. that's alot for me and Im very full from it.. but I was hoping maybe that'd make me uninterested in the mountain of candy.. so far, so good!)  It's only 12:35.. <sigh>  5 hours and 25 mins to go :-p
I like teen's idea of stopping work and dancing around  : - )

day is dragging here too, but I only have 1 hour 30 minutes left!!!

Congrats to everyone - all the low numbers!! YEAH!

lily- I could't agree with you more, Kiigan is always first or UNICAT to answer any questions, this is great!
