I am 5'9 140..looking to drop 10 by the time I go see my boyfriend in Los Angelos (July 17th) anyone want to form a support group..I need motivation!!

Having a problem with the scale... do I use my naked weight in the am (136) or afternoon weight with clothes (141)? I have no clue what I weigh and it sucks... how can I measure? Hopefully the scale will be consistently off.  :)

Great job everyone!!!

On a side note: know of any pills that helps get rid of weight, even for a short while?

Amberwolg; I weigh naked in the morning after using the bathroom (not fun in the winter! Goosebumps ahoy!)

A set of my clothes can put on 2-3 lbs instantly, depending on if I'm wearing a hoodie or a heavy pair of jeans/camos.

Light summer clothes (cloth shorts, tanktop) are probably fine to weigh in, but any more than that, strip it. (I usually leave my undies on, especially when it's cold!)

As to pills; none that are worth it. Diuretics and laxatives can screw up your electrolytes, and can be habit forming (very, very bad thing). 'Thermogenics' and caffeine supplements screw with your heart. A heart murmur for 3 lbs of water isn't worth it.

 

In other news; my birthday was yesterday! Officially an 18 year old :)

I am back up to 119 today, but considering we had Chinese for lunch I'm hoping it was water weight! My mum baked me a scrummy chocolatey-chocolate cake ^^ I stopped myself at a reasonable sized slice, and it was delish.

I'm getting a new system for my birthday, although it hasn't arrived yet. It's gonna be fun ^^ usually my 'new' hardware is everyone's old stuff, I get hand-me-downs from my brothers. Which is fine, I don't do anything that needs really highgrade stuff; my brothers are gamers, and gaming software is being made to higher grades than many computers can keep up with!

So yup. Gonna be fun :).

I don't know about eveyone else, but I ate s snickers, drank a ton, had pizza, french fries 2x, french toast, and haven't workout out in days. Memorial day killed my diet. starting over today so Friday isn't a nightmare. I feel horrible. but I felt like eating these things. I am so sick of salad and cottage cheese. I needed a break. I hadn't made those bad choices in weeks. So tonight I am going to the gym. did anyone do what I did?

Feeling guilty, but glad I am back on track.

I had A LOT of alcohol and snack food and got sick Frown. But it's just a cold and I still managed to get to the gym yesterday. Now I'm back to my lower cal work week breakfast/lunch/dinner routine. I'm hoping my splurge over the weekend won't affect my Friday weigh in!

ummm yeah...so I spent all weekend camping...which basically entailed sitting on my butt and eating and boozin alllllll weekend long! It was cold, which sucked, but I did go for a brief swim in the river, and sunday was warm enough to kayak, so we went up the river. Am mosquito bitten, not much tanner, but back on track, and surprisingly...dropped some weight over the weekend, but me thinks it might just be because my body is soooo dehydrated from all the alcohol I put in it? yikes! keeping a tight ship here for the weigh in on friday!

Amberwolg: I weigh myself in the A.M. without clothes...also, I recently tried Lipo 6, which did absolutely nothing for me, and am now trying S.A.N. Tight, but sporadically because you can't have any caffeine with it :( Am combining it with healthy eating (counting calories too!) and workouts 4x a week...so not sure it's just the pill that's knocking down my weight a lil. I don't recommend depending solely on pills for weightloss.

Well now that we have splurged, hopefully we can all get back on track. What sorts of workouts are you guys doing?

Maybe we can add weekly challenges to help spice things up and help us get to our goals, what do you guys think? I actually saw it on another forum and thought it was a good idea, but I don't recall what the challenges were.

My weekly routine is at least 4 days of cardio + weights per week. The past few weeks I've been able to do 5-6 days a week but I'm starting my summer semester of grad school classes so I'll probably have to stick to just 4 days a week to keep my sanity.

My typical workout is: 25-30 minutes elliptical "aerobics" mode (varies speed, arms only, legs only, resistance, etc.); 25-30 minutes weight routine (see below); and then if I have the time/energy 15-25 minutes on the treadmill (speed from 3.0-4.5 and elevation from 1.0-3.5) or I'll do the "fat burn" mode on the recumbent bike (maintains your heart rate @ fat burning pace based on age).

Last year I did this circuit for the 4 weeks and then alternated the last two weeks of the circuit for 4 weeks and without changing my diet lost close to 20 lbs. Then I gained it all back from going on vacation, getting sick and starting grad school.  This year I've been willing to give it another shot and would definitely recommend it for people who have little/no experience with what kind of weight training exercises to do.

i think that is a great idea. I really need some motivation and help from you guys. I am so good until the week I am PMSing and then I blow it. it only lasts a week. I crave chocolate and comfort foods. having it hit on Memorial day weekend really screwed me up. I HAVE TO go to the gym today. I only have 6 weeks until my trip which starts on the 4th of july.

This is my perfect routine week. (and 3/4 of the 5 weeks I do it) and I am almost in bikini form. if I keep it up I will be looking fantastic for my trip and summer.

gym 30 to 40 min cardio / stretch 10 min. Weights- 25 min- arms and upper body 1-2x

gym 30 -40 min cardio/ stretch 10 min. Weights- 25 min- legs and lower body 1-2x

yoga one time a week  ( really helps!!)

walk for 30 min everyday at about a 3.0 pace.

If I don't hit the gym I do a DVD- Karen Voight. she is awesome! Really the best DVD trainer around.

okay so hanging out with a close friend is dooming me to never get down to 140. I never stick to my diet with him, we always eat pizza, junk foods, fast food, and not to mention, my arch nemesis, ice cream. sonic blasts everyday will kill me!!! I'm back up to 145 and its depressing the hell out of me. not to mention i'm not hungry anymore, but too lazy to take my walks (haven't done one in over a week) anyone wanna kill him for me so I dont have to hang out with him? he wants me to get to my goal weight, but insists that i need ice cream. and pizza. i love him to death, but nintendo wii is NOT going to make me lose this weight!

 Man that sounds like me and my boyfriend...when we are together during the school year, we eat a resses sonic blast like everyday!! but you just got to be strong girl! just tell him that you dont want any of that junk food im sure he will respect your wishes! Its sad when you have to use taht as an excuse for why you gained weight...becasue i gained weight from eating all the things that my boyfriend ate...he doesnt gain any weight when i gain like 20 lbs!! lol

doesn't help, my dear friend thinks i'm too skinny.. he's a photographer, and i was one of his models, and he thought i was too thin as it was. he knows i eat healthy at home, he thanks me for going with him every payday to the grocery store ( i do my shopping he does his, and i take out almost everything if its not healthy for him lol) and make him eat at home. since he's one of my best friends, i'm there EVERY day. my boyfriend calls him my other boyfriend... haha

I'm here for weigh in!!!

Well...I didn't keep my lovely weight from Tuesday morning after I came back from camping, but I am down from last week

SW for this group: 187
Weight last week: 186 (-1)
This weeks weigh in: 184.6 (-1.4)

Total down is 2.4, but we only have 5 weeks to go...and I have 7.6lb to go! So...I need to lose 1.52lb/week, to get to my 10lb goal, but I'm going to aim for 2. thank goodness there's no more holiday weekend drinking extravaganzas before then!!! ahhhh. I'd like to step up my workouts, but I have my LSAT in 2 weeks, and until then, I'm nose in the books for 2-3 hours a day, plus working 7 days a week, so not going to happen. Just going to keep a tight rein on my calories.

And I totally feel you guys on the friends who eat like crazy! Anyone read my roommate rants? haha...not to mention my boyfriend and 2 best guy friends, who I hang out with allllll the time do nothing but eat and want to go out drinking all the time!! ahhhhh

I work out a lot everyday. I too feel I need to step it up a bit but I cant jog/run. I have a bad back and neck. So if I jog for too long I cant move the next day. I had a chiropractor ask me if I had been in an accident..AH NO! I have been trying to think of something to do.

Good job on the weight loss. On the eating like crazy, my boyfriend is the same way. He eats like crap and it use to be hard to eat when we would go out. He can eat what ever he wants and it does not faze him. He has learned to be more supportive and pick things and places to go where I can find something healthier to eat. Sometimes though I dont care and I eat something big and bad....Just once in a while then walk like 5 miles the next day..He walks with me to. I think he knows that if he doesnt drag me outside to walk on the weeknds I wont do it. I walk 2 miles everyday at work..It gets boring, but it works....

Hello ztigger05. I have been thinking about swimming and skating..I live by a pool and a rink..So maybe I will get on the website and see what the costs are. I know the pool has water aerobics but they were kinda spendy.

120 pounds is your gw..you must be small framed..I looked at the bmi tool yesterday and it said I could not weigh any less than like 128 or I would be underweight..I was 117 before I had kids but that was 15years ago (when i was almost 19). I think I am between medium and small//some of these thngs are hard to pick one or the other.. Hell I dont know... I am thinking 140-150....

I know I can't expect to get to my GW by July but I'd like to at least drop 8-10 lbs by then.

Have put on weight as a result of giving up smoking and also menopause ... fun! 

Anyone else here around the same age with the same problem?
