Quote  |  Reply
hey everyone!!

since july 4th is around the corner i would like to be in top shape for swimsuit/bbq season :) i am looking for people with similar goals and stats to share accountability with and also to provide motovation and tips!!

im 23 years old, im about 5'9" and weigh approx 160lbs....my goal is to be in the 145-150 range. i figure losing around 1.5-2 lbs. a week is achievable, and setting a final goal range within 5lbs. will allow more flexability and less room for failure.

anyone else???

Hey yall.  Elizajk-I could be wrong but unfortunately I think they really are that high in calories.  I used to get these AMAZING veggie bbq ribs at my univeristy and we found out that one serving had 450 calories(it's the sauce:(

Krenren-I say walking! Walking can get such a bad rap-I have a friend who...I'm sorry to say can annoy me b/c all she ever talks a/b is a new 'health' book she bought and how she doesn't want to 'waste' a work out that could be spent jogging.  I TOTALLY disagree! Esp if it's nice outside, give your shins a break, contract your core and have a long brisk walk.  Change things up too:)

I broke my plan yesterday-bummer. Still ate maintenence and since I'm  eating all non-processed stuff and taking lots of new gym classes, I'm pretty happy with just feeling better and healthier:) I do think I might have lost though b/c my booty is looking firm! Oh! Question! I'm having a little funnn night planned with the girls and...there will probably being a few drinks involved..I'm setting aside a little room for some but I'd like to keep the cals to a min-anyone have the best ideas?

Chompforchange- I have this same problem, when we get together with friends and drinks are involved..I don't know what to drink. I found this list that might help you. I drank Diet 7 up and Seagrams 7 this weekend, and it was really good.

1. Rum and Diet Coke (1 oz. rum) - 65 calories (1.5)
Tip: Use diet sodas as mixers, such as gin and diet tonic, diet 7Up and Seagrams 7, diet ginger ale and Jack Daniels, and so on.
2. Vodka and Soda (1 oz. vodka) - 65 calories (1.5)
Tip: Try this with flavored vodka, such as raspberry, vanilla, or mandarin.
3. White Wine Spritzer (4 oz. white wine topped with club soda) - 80 calories (2)
4. Bloody Mary (1 oz. vodka, 4 oz. tomato juice, dash of Tabasco and pepper) - 90 calories (2)
5. Light Beer - 100 calories (2)

Hope this helps!

thanks for the advice on walk vs running. i do agree that i feel more productive when i sweat during a workout but walking is a great activity on something like my lunch break. today i ran the two miles took a shower and came back to work. tomorrow i think ill opt for staying at work and walking on my break and switch it up a bit.

elizajk: unfortunately i think ribs are higher in cals (bummer). i would think more around 800 cals for a good est.

desireesmom, that alcohol guide is so helpful! i just copied it on an index card and am gonna keep it in my wallet for future reference. thanks again!!

yea thanks desireesmom!  Actually considering I never plan to get crazy I love diet and rum so that's actually not too bad of calories at all:)

when you mix captain morgan and diet coke or diet pepsi are called Skinny Pirates!!! love them.

Weighed in this morning at 199!!!!!!  First time I've been under 200 in about 2 years.  I am soooo happy!!!!  Down 12 lbs since this challenge started!  I need another 8 to get to goal #1 by July 4th!

DH is going sex crazy (yeah- he really missed me with a body)!  I don't feel like I look much different, but I am down a total of 45 lbs now- so I guess I must!!  I'm just so happy right now!

susieq thats AMAZING!! congrats on all ur hard work so far, you (and your husband ;) ) must be so happy!!!

B: coffee with a little cream, fiber one bar
L: green beans and a smart ones dinner
D: chicken noodle soup w/a tomato sandwhich

i think im gonna take a day off from working out and just walk on my lunch break, my muscles need a break :)

good luck today everyone :)

Well hey guys, my mini goal of 139 by June 1st is looming and I'm pretty peed off bcos I got there last sat and now I am back up to 140 (I know not much difference) but I've been super good, I've only eaten above 1250 once (thats my sunday 1600 limit) and I've worked out for average of 60 mins everyday this week, This is the first week not to see results and I'm really hoping I can get back to succeed my mini goal.. especially as I was hoping for a little indulgence over the weekend as I'm having a couple of girls nights out..Im not lacking water anyway, in fact it may be that I need to drink less because I'm sick of getting up to pee twice a night!!How I calculate it then I've consumed 6500 cals in the last 5 days and have burned (with exercise approx 500X5 and just being) 12,500 cals in the last 5 days, that really ought to leave me with a healthy weight loss of 1.5lbs this week...

Hope everyone is going well and moving closer to their mini and ultimate goals...

hey guys! tried on my favorite pair of pants today....and they went on just right! I was so happy!  They were skin tight a/b 3 weeks ago! I still need a little more room in them...I was SUPER dehydrated/bloated this morning which I'm sure is the result of nothing but alcohol and diet soda so late at night.  I had a blast! And thanks for the info guys-my girlfriends were so appreciative to know the lower-calorie drink option when I brought the necessary ingredients.  Feeling ahhhh not as great today haha but meal plan is going great and I'm just trying to drink a lot of water to get my energy back.  I'm also taking a day of rest today-I did some pilates this morning and I feel good. Susieq! So inspiring! That's awesome.

Hello!! I can't stay away from the scale, I feel the need to weigh myself every morning. I weighed myself this morning and I am down another 1.5 lbs! That is 2.5 lbs this week...but I know you can go up and down each day. I worked out hard yesterday! 2 hours!! Actually I take that back, 1 hour of cardio, 45 mins of weights and 15 mins in the sauna. I felt great after my workout. I stuck to my meal plan and was really proud of myself. I am taking my daughter to gymnastics tonight, so I can't work out after work or at lunch since I had a meeting.

Great Morning Everybody,

I have fallen off the wagon again, but I know that I can get back on track today. I have thought of trying a new plan. I am not going to count everything that I eat for calories but for the protein, fat, sodium, and other content. I want to eat things that wont break down as sugar or fat in my body. Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

My plan today is:

B: bowl of cereal and coffee

L: Protein Shake and a chicken wing

D: Shrimp and steamed veggies

S: Granola Bar-nuts and yogurt

Exercise: 90 Min Cardio, 45 min Strength Training, 30 Stretching/yoga

Hey guys,

susieq76- that is awesome! What a great reward too to have a guy who will make you realize how great you look even if we are all a little oo critical of ourselves during the weight loss process.

I am still on our bandwagon, not doing great with my eating but I have been sticking with my longer workouts.

I have no idea how much I weigh though b/c my scale somehow broke over the weekend... (i was out of town... before I left it said 141... now it consistently says 64 or 65!! Wow, I lost about 77 lbs over the weekend! haha.

Does anyone know how to fix a digital scale? I think I just have to go buy a new one.

hey emilynsb...it seems as though your scale is weighing you in kilograms rather than lbs. im not sure if there is a switch on your scale to change it back to lbs, but it not, you can figure out your weight by taking the kg valve and multiplying it by 2.2.

For instance.... 64 x 2.2 = 140.8; which is awesome!! you lost 0.2 lbs!! haha

tweetrita, some foods that will not break down as sugar/fat are veggies, lean protiens (chicken, beans) and cottege cheese are my staples. be aware of "sugar free" food. while it may look good on the nutrition facts, our bodies dont recgonize artificial sweetners vs. real sugar and therefore, our pancreas realizes the same amount of insulin which alters our blood sugar, and that is ultimately responsible for our cravings and appetites. your best bet is to stick to foods as natural as possible :)

Hello everyone, I am trying to lose 10 pounds by July 4.  I am 5'1'' and currently 145 pds, so far I have lost 28 pds. My goal is 125 pds which I would like to achieve before the end of August, but no later than Sept.  Sept. I will turn 30 and want to be healtier and sexier.  Lately I have really been focusing on being active by exercising or running around outside with the kids.  I am looking for people to talk to on the bad days when you want to pig out and days when you feel just to lazy to workout also to share different ideas and foods.  I have been trying to learn how to cook with so much salt, this is the only way I know I will stick with it.

Todays Foods

Breakfast- 10 Strawberries w/ 1 tsp sugar and a slice of light wheat toast

Snack- Special K Bar and apple

Lunch- Turkey patty on slice of light wheat bread, 1 cup of spinach and cheese

This week I havent really lost any weight which is frustrating, but hopefully the fat is turning to muscle :)

Thank You Krenren77.

I will try to avoid all together or limit my intake on sugar free and fat free foods. I have learned that when they take out the fat they increase the sodium to compensate for the flavor loss. I do try to avoid the "Fake" sugars as much as I can.

I didn't know that cottage cheese didn't break down as sugar. I love cottage cheese, so I know what I am going to have for some of my snacks now. Thank you again for your help.

krenren77- thank you! you are a genius! So simple, yet i was about to throw my scale out and dish out 30 bucks for a new one! I dont know how it got switched to kg but it did! Thanks for the info!

Hi all!  Everyone have a fun weekend???  I love the weekends- our community's pool is only open on the weekends until June 14th- can't wait to be able to swim everyday.

I am very happy to say that I am down to a size 14.  This is a great accomplishment for me and I am on the top of the world right now!!!!  Love this group!
