WHat's up team!?!?
Oh wow, can you believe that Ali ( a WOMAN!) won Biggest Loser!?!? That is total and complete motivation for me that we all can do this!!
I called up my old trainer (whom I LOVED) and I start back with him 3 times a week in May. The only reason I quit training with him is because my job took me out of town for 6 weeks at a time, and it was too expensive. But now I have a job that pays a bit more and I can start up again!
I love working out with a trainer because I HATE having to think about what weights to do and how much to lift. Plus my trainer really pushes me. He makes me want to do better and push harder. Plus we get along really well, it's like hanging out with a friend.
Getting a trainer should also boost my results. Last time I lost 9 inches in 3 months and that was without being really committed to cardio or running. Now that I have settled on a feasible calorie limit and am dedicated to cardio, I should see the same, if not better results! I am super pumped!!!
Also now that I have a heart rate monitor, it will be that much more fun!!
Thanks midnight_mocha! The daily Plate site looks really useful. :)
kjmadill - good luck with the trainer. It will be interesting to hear about the results. What kind of heart rate monitor do you have? I have been wondering whether to get one with a chest strap or the wrist type. I have also seen a really cool one like a glove on coolest-gadjets .com!!!
Hello my Family,
I will start off today with good news! As you all know how clothes are cut differently depending on the brand, right! Well, last night as I was going through more boxes out of my storage unit I came across some more old jeans. I found a pair of relaxed fit Levi Silver Tab jeans that I have not been able to wear since 2000, seeing as how they are 36's. Well, I got into them last night. They are still a little snug in the waist, but I was able to get them on, button them and was still able to breath! That makes me feel awesome!
Midnight_Mocha - Cool, website. They have some different features than here and may come in handy from time to time.
KJmadill - Good luck with the trainer. Hope you see even better results this time than you did last time.
Letsgetitstarted - I just recently bought a heart rate monitor also, and after looking into all of the different types I settled on the Mio Drive which is a wrist type. It has watch, timer, alarm, and date. As far as the heart rate monitor goes it is dead on with each of the machines that I have tried it with so far. It also has a "calorie countdown" feature that I still don't fully understand yet, but you have ot program your personnal info into it and once your heart rate reaches a certain point it starts counting down calories as long as you are using the timer. It cost me about 70 bucks, which is about middle of the road when you start comparing monitors.
Well, gotta get back to work, let's all get moving and changing our lives for the better!
Saying for the day! FORGET ABOUT THE PAST, LIFE IS ABOUT THE FUTURE!!!
Hi everyone. I hope you are having a good day. The weather is so crazy here. It was like 70 something yesterday and it's snowing right now. I totally freak out driving in the snow! LOL!
Midnight_Mocha - that website is awsome! I am gonna get in trouble tho cuz I am not gonna get any work done!
letsgetitstarted--
I have a polar F6 heartrate monitor (in a cute pink colour!!!) with a chest strap and I absolutely love it! THe calorie counting feature is really motivating. The machines at my gym, despite me entering height and weight were still 100-150 calories Under! The chest strap is super comfortable to wear, it feels like the bottom of a bra. To tell you the truth a few times I have forgotten that I have it and nearly showered with it on.
I like the fact that it has really great features like weekly and daily totals for calories burned. I like too that I can change my weight everytime I lose and it will readjust my automatic heart rate randes and calorie burn rate! I would highly recommend a Polar F6 to anyone (or a Polar F4 too)
I also forgot to say that my chest strap is compatible with the cardio machines at my gym, so it transmits my heartrate info to the cardio machine, so I don't have to keep looking at my wrist all the time! Love it!
I just got an email with a free one month guest pass to a gym and we happen to have one of those gyms in town so I'm excited to try it out. I've never gone to a gym before. Here's the link in case anyone else can make use of it:
http://www.ladyofamerica.com/1MonthFree_April 08.html
As for the spring cleaning I talked about...I really got to get cracking if I'm going to have it done for next weigh in day. So I'll leave this post short and sweet.
KJmadill - Now you are starting to talk about your heart monitor being in a "cute pink color" and "it's as comfortable as my bra", just a couple of things here.
1. I (being a GUY) am not going to wear a pink strap across my chest, some guys might mistake me as being a little light in the loafers!
2. I have never worn a bra so how am I supposed to know exactly how comfortable that is?
Now if they had them in MANLY colors such as red, black or even camo I might think about it. The compatability with the machines is the one thing I do not like about the wrist monitor, but at the moment I did not have a whole lot to spend on one.
Cutiepiemomma - I can tell you one thing that is nice about being in the Navy, no matter where you go the local gyms WANT you to come in and try them out. Every time I go home to Arkansas there is always someone with a membership at a gym and when I go in with them, I let it "slip" that I am military and normally I get the full treatment. I trainer for the week, massage once or twice that week, and no weekly dues. It's awesome! With a free trail you can never go wrong!
Quick update, yesterday weighed in at 267.5, today was at 266.5. Watch out Blaynedrops I am comin' for ya!!!!!!
Keep ya head up and keep reachin' for your goal!!! WE CAN ALL ATTAIN THE GOALS WE WANT AS LONG AS WE KEEP OUR EYES ON IT!!!!
Hi guys!
papa - congratulations! Getting into those 36 jeans is excellent! Thanks for the heart rate monitor advice - it is so good to hear about the different types before I buy one. I'll go to the Mio Drive website and have a look.
kjmadill - thanks for getting back to me! I must say the cute pink polar F6 sounds fun! I'll go to their website and check them out too.
Thanks again for the info!
Have a good evening everyone - I've got to get walking - I've got approx 5,000 steps left to do for today...!
Bahaahah popa, the chest strap is black, and worn UNDER your shirt!! hahahahah And also it comes in a manly black as well as a cute pink!
letsgetitstarted-- for some reason I hate the polar website... but I googled fitness product reviews for the Polar F6, that's how I decided on it. I really love it.
KJmadill - I was only pickin' on ya. I know they come in black and worn under the shirt. When are ya'll gonna learn I like pickin on ya'll. Remember (as far as I know anyway) I am the only guy on team 3 so I have to give you a hard time right?!
Well, getting ready to go play some softball for a couple of hours, later Ladies!
Papa
Hey everyone..I am 3 pages behind on the posts... Hope everyone is ok..This might be rude to be absent for this long --come back and ask for support BUT.. Does anyone else REALLY get a lot hungrier the days they work out--like 2-3 hours later (even if they did not burn many calories)
About HRM..I just got F4 (Polar)..not the latest and greatest but simple to use and I like it. (I just used it today for the first time but it is a start)
Papa--SUPER job on the 36s
Mocha -thanks for the link for daily plate
Zena - I find when I do more than a normal workout I get hungry. I have a piece of gum to make sure I don't just want to chew if I still feel hungry I have veggies, fruit or my new favorite cereal Special K Vanilla Almond. If you're hungry resist the urge to snack uncontrollably, if your body really does need more food try to keep it healthy.
Zena-- On the days when I work out harder I get SOO HUNGRY!! Those days I add 200-300 extra calories to my diet in the form of my favourite snack: Apples and Peanut Butter! Or I will have a high fiber ceral and skim milk, something to keep me fuller. I also drink extra water and do exactly what cutiepie recommended, chew gum!
i have been awfully hungry these past few days...and i have to admit that i havent made the better choices..my water intake sucks and the pizza(oh the pizza..very bad idea) and chips...sodium like crazy.im gna get back on track and pray like crazy that i havent gained..im sorry for being soooo stupid. gotta get back right is all....water and walking for the next few days....i feel so ashamed to be honest. and i dont know when but my urge to exercise got up and left. i think after i weighed in i felt good(too good) and thought for some reason i could treat myhself but i know now that its still too early for that.dicipline.
Hey team! The results are up!! I put our team's results in the Original Post!
Great work Team!!! Keep Losing! Notice, again Team 3 dominated the top 5 losers list!! Great work guys!
Mornin' Family,
How is everyone this mornin' hopefully doing well, and not as sore as I am. I went to my stregth and conditioning class as normal yesterday, but in addition to that I played softball for two hours later in the day. This morning I woke up an dmy shoulders and legs are killing me. I know it's my own fault and I am not as young as I used to be. Hope everyone has a good day today.
Zena - You may have needed to take care of #1 and that is what matters most. Welcome back! Gettin hungry on work out days? Hum, let me see, I am 6'2" tall and try to burn at least 1000 calories each time I work out, get hungry never! Yeah right, normally on my "heavy" work out days like yesterday, I upped my calories for dinner by almost 400. I had Mongolian Beef, Teriyaki Chicken and Pho soup! YUMMY! It happens, satisfy it but do not go overboard that is the key! Thanks for the encouragement!
Cutiepie & KJ - Great advice from both of you, and you both hit the nail on the head. HIGH FIBER!!!!! The more fiber in your diet you will maintain the "full" feeling longer (plus the added benifit of being regular!)
Midnight - I am going to say this again! It does not matter what you eat it is HOW MUCH you eat. If we are all writing down (or tracking) our calories as we should be the thing I like to do is WRITE IT BEFORE YOU BITE IT! By doing that you have to think a little more about what you are eating and helps you decide how much! DO NOT BE ASHAMED! We all have a day or two that we just want "comfort foods" Mine is fried chicken, and being a southern girl you know all about the fried chicken! That is why when I want it I fix it so I can control what it is going into, and I only fix enough to satify my urge. As far as rewarding youself there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT EITHER! If you cannot reward yourself, why do it at all. Ultimately you are rewarding yourself with better health and a better future for you and your family right?! Why not take a day and reward yourself along the way. You just have to buckle back down the next day and as you put it use the DISCIPLINE to get back into the groove!
I just want to remind all my ladies out there you are ALL AWESOME! We can do this, don't worry I ain't goin' nowhere, and I ain't backin' down. You know if we win this little compition here we may just have to take a little trip somewhere and have everyone meet each other. If we can all come to an agreement as to where and as long as we can all afford it. If not I just want to be the first one to say that the friendships built during this challenge should continue to grow even after the challenge. This is the type of support that helps keep you strong on the days you don't feel like counting those anymore now you have someone you can turn to and talk to, right! Just want ya'll to know that I keep ya'll in the forefront of my mind when I don't feel like working out, or counting calories, I am doing this for me ultimatly, but for the next 14 weeks I am also doing it for each and everyone of you ladies! And yes, once I get the jeans clean I will post some new pictures of me in the 36's as I said I would.
Saying for the day: HAVE A CHEAT DAY, JUST REMEMBER TO JUMP BACK ON THE BANDWAGON TOMORROW!
Later family,
Papa

You forgot the most important part, we are still ahead in the team category also. TEAM 3 IS IN THE LEAD BY ALMOST A FULL PERCENT!!!! Keep up the great work ladies! We will stay on top all the way through, why because we have people we can count on for encouragement and support!!!
Later,
Papa
Hey Team 3!!!
I just logged in and read the marvellous news! Woooooooohoooooooooooo! Fantastic work everyone - in the lead by almost a full percent.
Zena - I agree with the others, take it easy on yourself - and eat more fibre rich foods to help with the hunger pangs. My favorites are oatmeal and apples - they are really filling!
Midnight - don't be upset - you have been doing so well. We all have lapses, just put it behind you, wipe the slate clean and make a fresh start tomorrow! REMEMBER, we all love you no matter what you do, just don't give up on us!
PRIDE ON THREE!!!
