I had a good day yesterday, and I'm prety proud. I got an elliptical machine on Craiglist for only $60! I can't wait to try it out today.

I also went out with some friends and had a campfire and some drinks. However, I planned for it during the day, and kept it to 3 Mike's Light Cranberry, so I didn't go overboard on my calories. I had a snack of Smartfood instead of chips, etc. In fact, we played an hour or so of Frisbee, so I burned a few of those off! So I feel good - had fun, but made good choices too. Good luck to you all in doing the same!

Hello everyone. I would like to join this thread. I am on Day 2. I am 5'1" and weigh 270 lbs. My goal is 123 lbs by May 2010. Recently, I was diagnosed with severe arthritis of my right hip. I walk continuously with a limp and find it very hard to be active without severe pain. The doctor says I will need a complete hip replacement within the year but I need to lose weight first. For the last month, I have tried to "do it on my own" without much success. I knew I needed some type of support and am so glad I was able to find c-c.

Hello!  My name is Jennifer and I am starting to use cc.com at 5'4 and 240 pounds.  I've never said that to anyone and I cannot believe that I've gained 100 pounds in the past 6 years.  I've finally decided to start coming to grips with my weight problem and realize that it's not about dieting but about making a lifestyle change.  I started watching what I eat about 6 weeks ago and started walking home from work everyday and I've lost 11 pounds so far.  My brother introduced me to this site and I wish I had found it sooner.

I'm really hoping to stay motivated and that is what I'm looking for out of this group and hope that I can do the same for others.  My goal weight as of now is 150 pounds by September 1, 2008 and hopefully down to 130 pounds by December 1, 2008.

I'm wish you Sarah!

One of the things I like about this forum is it combines the public aspect of a "group" meeting with the true annonimity of the internet.  This allows the benefit of the group experience with the ability to be completely honest about what is driving you.  No one can judge you here...even if they wanted to...

I totally agree decurion.  That's why I wouldn't join Weight Watchers or LA Weight Loss.  I know lots of ppl who've joined and lost the weight and it's great that it works for ppl but I don't like the idea of going there and not losing anything and feeling like a failure or being shamed.  That's just my opinion of course and on the other hand I know they do a great job at keeping ppl motivated but I like this forum bc it's completely anonymous but you still have the support.

Hi there!  I'm going to join here too.  I am currently at 284 (eeep!  I think that's the first time I've put it on paper) and am joining this site. Since January, I've gained 14 pounds, but I quit smoking then and also started Nuvaring.  The weight gain was expected, but I really hate it.  I've joined this site to keep myself accountable for my food and exercise.  So far I've been doing great...granted, it's been 2 days, but I feel great about it :)

I am right there with all you guys.  I am 5'3" and 226lbs.  I want to start a family, but know that I should loose weight first and in general be more healthy.  It is hard.  My first goal is to get below 200 and I have yet to decide how long I should give myself.  Thanks for all the wonderful posts.

A big hearty welcome to Jennifer, Amanda, Dereth, and tmamma.
Feel free to get and stay involved, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. As Tim said, there is an anonimity, but it's also nice that you can make lasting friendships here, too, if that is your desire.

I started counting calories with "Lose it for Life" at the beginning of June and have gone from 235 lbs. to 225/226 (changes depending on the mood of my scale) but I've been on a plateau now for about 1-1/2 or 2 weeks. My measurements have diminished some more, so I guess that's what's going on right now rather than pound-losing. I'm new to the site today and I thought the goal weight posted for my age and frame (54, 5'5", large frame) is too low. I think a good ultimate weight would be 155-145 lbs. so I have about 70 lbs more to go. I quit smoking ten years ago (August 9, 2007 will be my ten year anniversary). On top of that, my thyroid gland conked out about the same time (I thought the subsequent weight gain was from quitting a 3-pack-a-day cigarette habit but the thyroid quit on me and that really has been the issue for me since 1997. It seems, however, since I've been eating healthier, exercising, and praying a lot with friends that my thyroid gland is actually starting to work again! The doctor just had me drop my dosage of Synthroid to 1/2 of what I've been taking for ten years!!! This is exciting to see real changes starting to happen! I do notice, however, that it really works for me to journal EVERYTHING I eat.

Welcome to everyone that found us over the weekend! I wish you well on your weight loss journey!

After my dissapointing weigh in last wednesday i am halfway through my "get back on track" week! And I am doing pretty good! I had an unexpected camping trip this weekend, i just packed up and went! It was fun, but i think i lived it up a little more than i would have liked to. So i'm buckling down until my next weigh in on wednesday.

Great New Recipe: i made a fat free splenda version of coffee gelato that is fantastic! If anyone is on weight watchers it is totally core! I will post the recipe later tonight once I get home from work.

Good luck to everyone!!

Pam congrats on the weightloss!!!

I am trying not to weigh myself unitl Thursday but it is real hard. I want to step on that scale so bad. I had a good weekend eating wise. I made some good choices. Did alot of painting. Iwonder how many calories I burned doing that?
#138 humorpam Jul 16 2007 14:32
Thanks Trapp. I know it's hard not to step on that scale, isn't it? It sounds like you're doing well, though, and I would think painting would burn alot of calories in an hour.

Yipee!!! I'm so happy! I lost 5 pounds this week!!! so now I'm at 211.5 I could not believe it, I had to take a double look!! this has never happened before, that I would lose so much in one week. Its always been 3 and under before when I would lose the weight. I'm sure its because its still in the beginning for me but just the same I'm 211!!!!! now I just need to get under 200!

Welcome to all the new joiners, this is a great place for support and friendships. Glad you all joined us.  :)

Sarah~
