Trying to lose 10 lbs. forever club
I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". . I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years. Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10).
I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next.
I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.
Let me know if you are out there and interested.

Hey everyone,
Getting ready for a weekend full of challenges! I did great all week and now I am a little worried about the 2 parties I have on my schedule. I plan to always have water and a plate with veggies. Also, tomorrow morning (Saturday) my training team is planning to run through a mini-tri and work on transitions. We are going to swim 500 yds, bike 10 miles and then run 2 miles. I am excited about this workout.
question for the girls who compete, I want to consume some calories on the bike, but am not sure what is best. I tried the gel and didn't care for it. Tomorrow, I am going to try 1/2 power bar. Any suggestions?

what kind of gel did you have? The powerbar chocolate isn't bad, but I just got my hands on these Organic Crsipy Rice bars(peanut butter flavor) - made by Nature's Path foods - I had one during a bi I did last month and it was fine.
Good luck on the practice run through and the parties. I, too, am having party phobia about this weekend.... I am HOSTING a party on Sunday.....I'm scared because I have done so well this week. I have stayed at 139 for 3 days and don't want to screw this up!!

Congrats ladies on doing well :)
I, on the other hand, am not doing so well. I have a wedding in two weeks (i'm the maid of honour) and have lost my motivation.
I need your help - remind to "stay in there" and "not give up" please!!!

thanks to this group, I did two exercises yesterday!
In the morning I rode my bike to the gym and did weights.
In the evening, I did a 35 minute "cardio party" segment on exercise tv.
This morning I forced my butt to the gym and did a measley mile on the elliptical but even that took a lot out of me, so I am proud.
I, too, am worried about the weekend, particularly Sat night at the bars to celebrate a friends birthday...
mcpchants, that's very exciting and honoring to be in the wedding! good luck getting back on track- just remember the little things help!

mcpchants - - - -- DON'T give up!!! especially if the wedding is only 2 weeks away. You can use that as a benchmark for progress.
Ask yourself, what do you want to accomplish by the day of the wedding? - Lose 5 lbs? exercise 5 days a week until the wedding? Do abdominal crunches every night before bed? Walk the dog/ take the kid out in his stroller 3 nights each week for at least 45 minutes? Drink 9 glasses of water a day until the wedding and see how much weight you lose? Limit your sodium intake to under 2000mg per day until the wedding? Go to the gym at least 5 times in the next two weeks?
Just trying to give you ideas. But to motivate yourself, you have to have a goal... think about it. Set one for yourself and then tell us what it is... We'll stay on top of you to keep you honest!
Good luck!

3-4 lbs would be great!
I am going to exercise and stay at 1250 calories a day.
Let's see if I can do this!

Hello everyone!
I just got back from my tri training. It went very well. I was a little slow on the transitions, but that's ok. So, my workout is done for the day and I plan to stay within 1400. Going to a party tonight, so wish me luck!

mcpchants -- i'm a maid of honour on July 7th....! i got the dress already, and you? i think 4 lbs for me would be great, so i think i'll adopt your plan too -- 1250 cals and exercise and see what happens
nice job Di!!! Stay focused..
mcpchants - sounds like a reasonable goal to me. just take deep breaths....
I am going to try and make my beau's BD cake tonight, and not eat all the frosting.
I will not be exercising tonight after work, unless there is some way to extend the day to 26 hours.
tomorrow is FAMILY................BIG HUGE LOVING people, but they like to eat, and not in a good way.... some of them haven't seen their toes in a few years. THIS will be a challenge.

eugrrrlll and mcpchants,
I may need you both as my brides' maids, so don't give away your dresses when you're done! :)

I love wedding season! Good luck on the plan, eugrrrl and mcpchants! I'm going to a good friend's wedding on 7/7 too. (Lucky day to get married!) And amyb, according to chinese astrology, the year of the boar is a great year to get married.
Worked out like crazy today. It was overcast so I could play singles tennis for 1 1/2 hours. (Although including drink breaks it was probably 1 hour of actual play. Still, I'm happy, esp. since I think the daily pushups are really paying off in my tennis game.) Also walked/hiked for an hour. Of course, the problem is abstaining from all the good stuff tonight. I'll be with you in spirit tonight, Di.
Hope this board is still motivating you, meltydawne!

Loved reading everyone's posts today. I think weddings are a great motivator! Keep up the great work!

Okay, one check in before I go out:
Saturday: Great exercise, and I met my calorie target, but since I'll probably have a couple drinks, I'll probably go over. Eh.....
For Sunday, June 17: (Call Dad for Father's Day), calorie goal: 1300. Exercise goal: 30 pushups and 1 workout.

Okay Everyone,
I am BACK!! I am soooo ashamed of my food choices while I was away... I have 100 excuses for pigging out and I mean literally PIGGING OUT!
I did good for the first few days, even tried to keep a calorie log... and then it happened... somewhere along to line I snapped and started shoving anything and everything into my mouth-- ice cream, chips and more chips, sweet tea, double servings at every meal...
I really believe that if i would have had internet and stayed accountable to you all, I would have done better.
According to the scale this morning, I am up 6.5 lbs from last weigh-in!! (My official weigh-in will be Wednesday) Now I know I was bad, but according to weight-loss gurus and mathmeticians, I consumed 3500 calories x 6.5 over my BMR calories to gain that much weight. That's 22,750 calories in 7 days. It will be interesting to see how quickly the scale comes down this week to see just how much of that is water retention.
I've enjoyed reading all of the postings since I left. You are all such a blessing and inspiration. I am so thankful for you. Let's stay connected and on track.
Great job of the ride, Amy! When I was reading your post after the ride, I was reminded of Friel's books (he wrote the Triathletes Training Bible). He said that Rest is as important as the actual training and many of us athletes fail to rest like we should. I beleive that is part of what happened to me last week. On the retreat I was sick the entire time and I believe that I didn't rest, like I should have, coming off of my last triathlon.
TRixitrix, thanks for the recipe post. I look forward to trying it.
Dievans, was it you who asked what we consume during long workouts... Anyway, as for me, I haven't tried the gels yet but Gatorade works for me.. I leave one in transition and grab a huge swig before the bike and before the run. I've heard it's not enough for some, but for Sprint Distance it worked for me.
My Goals for Monday, June 18th:
1. Get back on track with 1400 calories
2. Bike 10 miles
3. Pray about setting new race goals (i know that may sound weird to some of you but I believe in a God who cares about these things)
4. Pilates class in evening
Biggest challenge: 1. Not beating myself up for falling off of the wagon. 2. Getting back in the wagon...

Glad you're back, Tonia!
And let me just say: a week or so where you're not in charge of the menu, surrounded by junk food and 20 kids eating said junk food - THAT is a huge challenge. Seriously, even though you might have fallen off the wagon, it's really as if you were pushed off! ;^)
Drink lots of water and watch your salt intake til Wednesday! We're here for you!

as of last week, i cut out alcohol. hopefully that will be the straw that broke the 10 pound hump! more like belly bump really...
can i join?
127 lbs now -- 10 lbs lighter would be just about right, with some room to go down, or up with muscle mass hopefully :]
1450-1500 cals/day. regular exercise (except right now cause i stupidly injured myself biking last night and .. have seriously painful roadburn && bloody arm :X )

Welcome manda182 (ouch on the bike accident) and Skinnybecca!
What we are doing here , as I see it, is trying to shed that stubborn 10 lbs. We all have our own goals for getting there. We post our daily goals and report if we accomplished them or didn't. We also list our greatest challenges to face. We also weigh-in once per week to report where we are on our journey to -10 lbs. Some don't mind the actual weight report but others feel more comfortable with reporting just the actual amount of loss or (Lord forbid) gain.
We have been challenged to double-up on some workouts... which some of us have done successfully.
We give each other tips and get advice and pick each other up when we fall down.
Most of us are very active, social people (which I see can be a challenge sometimes with the food get togethers).
Some of the others, who have been with us from the beginning, will hopefully reflect on their description of the "Trying to Lose 10 lbs. Forever Club".
Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement!

Goals for Monday, June 18: 1300 calories, 2 workouts, 40 pushups
Report for Sunday: I went over my caloric intake last night but stayed within them today. My one workout had to be cut short b/c the dog threw up. (She tends to do that if she hasn't eaten by the time the walk starts).
Challenge for Monday: My day is sure to be very busy and work related, so hopefully I can squeeze 2 workouts in.
Good night all!

Everyone!! hello from underneath the wagon (that I fell from this weekend - - I am sitting under the wagon smoking a cigarette, holding a bottle of wine, swigging it right from the bottle!)
Tonia, Trixi, euggrrrlll, Di, - great to read your posts! Let's not lose sight of the goals here.
I am back on track today. I have to run 9 today because I skipped yesterday (my 43 y/o hubby to be ran 10 yesterday on his birthday..... so now it's my turn)
I didn't dare get on the scale after 3 days of Guinness, wine, birthday cake, etc.....
Goals for Monday:
Today - 1,300 total
Run - 8-9 miles @ 10min pace
WATER - - high intake!
Biggest Challenge - not eating all the leftovers in my fridge! (cupcakes, potato salad, macaroni salad, jello salad, etc.)
