  Jan 22 2007 17:59
I'm looking for a 130/120 club, but I don't see any topics started.

If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?

Thank you :)

Melinda - I read your profile and your weight loss story is awesome!!! Welcome to our group!

heather - Happy Birthday and congrats on reaching your goal - whoo hoo!

Jen - glad to hear from you again, i think i can speak for all of us when i say that we missed you!!! I agree with simi, we do appreciate all your advice and would like to hear from you regardless if you weigh in or not :)

#1162 sauciedj Apr 08 2008 19:48

Welcome back, Jen! I had been wondering where you were. I totally agree with everyone else, I hope you will continue to post here even if you don't weigh in. I'd probably still be at 10% protein if not for you lol.

So this thread has provided me stability today in more ways than just advice... I was going to declare today binge-day because my refrigerator is packed with good food that I'm sure will either be gone or spoiled by the time I can slowly incorporate them into my calorie count. But then I remembered that tomorrow is weigh-in day, so I'm going to have to postpone binge-day. Half of me is hoping the food will be gone, while the other half is preparing for an all-night affair at the gym.

Hope you all have a good day!

Good morning Ladies! Happy Wednesday!

For our weigh in I'd like to post my update...

LW on Wed.: 133.8 lbs.

CW on Wed.: 132 lbs!

short term GW: 127 lbs.

I am not sure where this apparent lose is coming from...esp. since I haven't been very diligent at all with my workouts this past 2-3 weeks...gulp! Though I will certainly take it.

This week, I did 3 set of 15 reps. on the hip aductor/abductor machines and about 20 mins. on the treadmill on Monday night....and nothing officially yesterday...then tonight I'm looking to go to my 1 hr. strength training class.

As some of you have mentioned...sometimes taking a bit of a break from working out can show good results...

Though that's no excuse to slack off completely I know...

Thanks again for all your support!  Look forward to cheering you all on and help to support you in your successes and even not so successes this week! :D

This forum = positive! :D

I seem to have maintained my weight, of 130.6 so at least no gain! It may be off a few-the gym I go to during the week doesnt have a digital scale. (very frusterating) just the kind all the doctors offices have, so I can never tell exactly.

For some reason I've been going through phases of being extremely hungry all the time, to not hungry for long periods of time. Now, I'm one of those people that is constantly hungry...an hour after a meal, my stomach is growling. I think it may be related to how much I exercise that day, that determines my hunger. Its very confusing though.

Good Morning Ladies!

Weigh-in time...

LW- 146.4

CW- 145.2

Yay!  I'm just so glad that the scale is finally going down plus I'm actually feeling a little slimmer (I know, it must be in my head but I'll take it anyhow lol)

Congrats ladies on the weight loss!  Have a happy hump day!
#1166 simignonne Apr 09 2008 14:22

Once again my body is showing my how difficult it is to move weight around.  UGH!

SW: Jan 132

LW: 128.5

CW: 129

My mini goal of 128 this week did not pull through, although I was off from working out last week because of the cold I had.  Perhaps that has something to do with it, or maybe the food I ate yesterday... oh well, I'm trying not to obsess, things were just going so well in the begining.

NEW MINI GOAL: 128 by next week and the week after to maintain 128 through weigh in's.

#1167 glaserpu Apr 09 2008 14:35

SW: 135

LW: 136

CW: 135

I'm back to where I was two weeks ago. I have been lifting weights more lately so maybe I'm just gaining muscle weight. goal for next week = 134

#1168 dmartineau1 Apr 09 2008 14:37

Happy weigh-in Wednesday! lol

LW=131.5

CW=131.5

I thought it would be a gain this week so I'm ok with maintining. I will try to lose 2 pounds next week though. I wnat to get out of the 130's!!! I want to be 120 by my vacation this summer and I don't want to lose motivation.

Sorry bout the rant...good luck everyone!

#1169 hbbroadbent Apr 09 2008 15:44

weigh-in wednesdays, woot woot! 125.4 today, but i have to mention that i've been 124.4/124.0 the past few days, but last night i did chinese ;)

jen- i'm thinking option two sounds like the best bet. take some time to re-charge, re-focus, f-the scale.and the eating more has been helping your workouts and general feeling of well being right? but you should still be in the group! update us on YOUR progress, not the arbitrary scale number. We'd love to hear that you've added reps, or a personal max, or can finally see definition in some muscle group. Or just to let us know how class/ married life/ life in general is going. a lot of us at this point i think need to be reminded that the bodies we're after probably doesn't lie in restricting more food or doing more cardio, but rather stepping up our toning efforts, and getting over the fear of that scale going up.

i leave for ireland tomorrow!! i'll try to split meals up to-go/ share with my mom or sister. A bite of bread with butter is just as delicious as a whole piece. i'll try to snag fruit from breakfast for snacks. a few lunges and wall pushups could be good stretches at rest stops. how many calories are in a pint of guiness? ;)

so yesterday, i was doing single-arm DB rows, thought i was using 12lb, but on my last set i looked down and saw i was using the 15lb. yay!

#1170 smiles1979 Apr 09 2008 18:37

Heather (broadbent) - Congrats on your success and have a great time in Ireland! I'd love to visit there myself! :D Good plan for your indulgences and to balance that keeping up with your exercise and eating habits for the trip! Sounds great!

Yay!!

Jen - Yes, we'd love to hear how you're doing overall, not just bout the # from the scale. :D Keep up the great work!! :D

#1171 burnyh Apr 09 2008 20:42

Yeay EVERYONE!  Sounds like everyone did great this week!....Unfortunately I didn't (sigh).

LW: 131.4

CW:135???

GW for next week 132....TTOM is next week...(I hate saying that like it's an excuse)...hot dogs and hamburgers are showing on the scale.  BLECH>  Oh well, the husband is going back to work on the 14th after being off for awhile...that'll help my diet  tremendously!

#1172 jredig Apr 09 2008 20:47
Great job everyone,  I see lots of #s falling.

Ok so i am checking in after all the support.  But no weigh in.  I will say how my leg workout went yesterday, though.  GREAT!!

I biked 24 miles yeaterday (to and from work).   Then did legs with my sis in law, she has just started working out with me.  It is fun to be the only two girls in doing heavy weights at my gym.

1) I did squats.  I do a pryramid workout for these to warm up my legs and do NOT use the Smith machine but do these in the "power rack" and go to 90 degress.

12 reps at 95 #, 12 reps @115, 2 sets of 12 reps @ 135# (new personal best) , then back down in weight, 12 reps at 115# and 12 reps at 95#.

2) Standing calf raises. 4 sets of 10 @ 165#

3) then walking lunges with a 30# DB in each hand (60# total).  I did 4 sets of 20 (that is 10 steps with each leg).  This was another new personal best.

4) Then plie squats.  3 sets of 18 at 95#.  Ohh the pain! I was sweating pretty good at this point.

5) then "badgirls" or the abductor machine.  3 sets of 14 at 155#.  i am now thoroughly trashed.

6) walked for 10 minutes on the treadmill set on "4" at a incline 10.

7) stretched

Tonight is shoulders.
#1173 sauciedj Apr 09 2008 21:03

I know what you mean, burnyh, (sort of) because my little sister is on spring break this week and is helping me out at my job. The workload is easier, but she loves the least healthy foods out here! It's been 500+ cals for lunch and dinner every day, and it doesn't look like it'll slow down til Sunday.

My weigh in:

Last week - 123.5

This week - 122.5

Just glad the scale's still moving in the right direction.

#1174 collinsj617 Apr 10 2008 02:57

Margo - congrats on the loss!! Looks like a little down time was good for the bod :)

Heather - have fun in Ireland P.S.  a pint of guiness has 210 calories - egads!

Jen - awesome leg workout.  I am always looking for ways to change up the leg exercises and you have just given me some ideas. Thanks!

Well, it looks like I can join the few of us that maintained this past week:

LW:  127.3

CW:  127.3

My goal for next week is 126 - I plan to kick ass at the gym! WHOO

#1175 wonderswhy Apr 10 2008 05:04

Wow! Great work, everyone! I missed my Wednesday weigh-in...I seemed to be everywhere but campus today. I'll try to get to the gym tomorrow, although I must say that I'm not looking forward to it (burnyh - I know the feeling! The scale has not been friendly to me lately either). I've been having major problems with my sweet tooth lately. I'm trying not to get discouraged about it, but man, I really thought I had more self control than this! I've never dieted for weight loss before, so I guess I didn't know what I was getting myself into. So much "food for thought" (pardon the pun, hehe).

If I'm still at 135 this week, I doubt I will make my mini goal of 129 by May 9th (graduation ceremony). That realization has been eating away at my motivation. I'm trying to dwell more on the progress that has already been made, such as my pair of boots that never quite zipped all the way up my calves that now zips up just fine. And I'm the one who said her calves would never ever shrink. So maybe the impossible is possible. Wink

By the way, I put up my official "135" pic in my gallery, if anyone wants to take a peek at it.

Have a great rest of the week, ladies! Good luck with all those mighty workouts!!!

#1176 smiles1979 Apr 10 2008 14:45

Jennifer - Thanks! :D I hope that the 'down time' will still be good for me when I weigh in next week..hehe. Cuz I'm comin' down with a cold (running/draining nose, achy, blah-zay feeling, etc.)...so we'll see.

Wonderswhy - I have to say, your 135lbs. pic. *though headless, haha* is looking FABULOUS! :D Great job!  I would say you can make your 129 lb. mark by your grad. date! :D Keep you the great work! :D Love seeing the progress!

Happy Thursday ladies! :D

Yeah, as I said, I'm sick and felt it coming on much more yesterday and late yesterday evening....:/ I think I will not over do my gym classes right now and just try to focus on getting in exercise at all! I hope to be able to head to the gym tonight for a bit of treadmill to get myself at least a bit of cardio.  I'm not up to an entire hr. of working out w/ an enclosed room full of ppl. in very close proximity to me at this point. haha. Least the treadmill area has more space and I can set my own pace/time frame.

Ttyl.

#1177 burnyh Apr 10 2008 18:40

Wonderswhy - you look great!  Love the dress too!

133.8 this morning.  Better than seeing the 135 yesterday.  Must be getting rid of some of that extra bloating.  Yeay.  Still want to see 130.  Big question...so my ultimate goal is to fall between 120-125 consistently.  Right now it's been such a battle to get out of the 130s that I worry that if or rather when I actually reach my goal weight will it be that much of a battle to stay at that weight?  Will I have to continue being so strict with my diet, or is maintaining a bit easier than losing?  I want to be healthy and not be in a constant watch the scale type mentality.  I'm wondering if my body is at the weight that it wants to be.  I should just take some advice from Jen and stop looking at the scale and just pay attention to how my body is looking.....sigh.

Weights today, maybe even a little cardio.  Have a great day everyone!

#1178 jredig Apr 10 2008 20:14
wonderwhy -- you look great.  thanks for posting a pic. regardless of the scale you will look fantastic for graduation.

margo -- sorry you feel bleh.  take your vit C :)

burnyh - i can tell you it feels good not the weigh for a few weeks.  I will again but as i get closer to my goal the scale seems to be more discourgaing than anything.  Because while the tape measure is still showing improvements the scale says I am up. which I know is not true, at least fat wise.

yesturday was shoulders day.  again biked 24 miles.

Then did shoulders all by myself b/c my husband has band practice on Weds.  Did: 3 sets of Arnolds 25# super setted with reverse flys on the incline bench (set 30 degress or so) with 20#.  Then lateral raises with 12# super setted with front raises with 10#.  Then stretched my really sore legs, which are still sorer today.  Ran two easy 8:30 miles.  I was hoping it would help my sore legs today and I stretched some more.

Tonight is back and biceps. It will be fun.  My husband will be there (as usual) and my sis and brother in law and another friend of ours that just joined.  So will will be taking over the free-weights section in our gym.  Our new friend that just joined is really built (all natural too).  So it is nice to learn new things from him, I am glad he joined.

i am realizing that the gym is my bar.  It is where I see all my friends and talk to them the most.

Looking back, it has been really great year and so awesome to see the new fitness lifestyle "catch on" in our social group. And  I can not take any credit for it, either.  It is all my husband and his great transformation, afterall he is what inspired me to really get serious and start heavy weight training.

Sorry for the ramble,  i am just happy.  I was just stepping back and looking at all the progress over the last year of all the people have made around me to become healthier more active people with more self-confidence.  Exercise and eating right is so good for my emotional well-being.  It is has been so nice to see those I love "discover" it too.

This includs my dad, who has diabetes, epilepsy and conjestive heart failure and heart fibrillations.  And over the last 3 years has rallied back from the brink of death by becomming a health nut and avid bike rider.  He has now lost over 75#; controls his diabetes by exercise and diet alone (after living 15 years with it uncontrolled); and we are now planning to do a 50 mile bike ride this summer together.

Never in a million years would I have thought my dad would have gone on a walk for his health or even stop drinking mochas.  What a wonderful transformation for him to make.  I am so proud of him and just had to share with someone.  Thanks for listening.

Hey all,

I am 23 and gained a ton of weight a couple years ago, after a study abroad program in Australia. I used Calorie Count back then and lost it all (yay). But then I moved in with my (skinny skinny skinny!) boyfriend who only wants to eat chocolate, cheese, and wine (how can you say no to that?!) and I have gained it alll back. We're moving to Miami in a couple months and I just can't handle the neuroses that would come along with being so soft and chunky. Soo... If you'll all have me, I'd love to join this group.

Height: 5-8

Current Weight: 139 (as of today)

Goal: 129 (really 125. But why push my luck?)

Yours,

Emily
#1180 mlissarn Apr 10 2008 21:47

Hey guys, well i forgot to weigh in yesterday, but this morning I'm at 137 last wk was 138.2 so i'm glad i finally broke the 138 barrier even if only a pound and my jeans are a little loose. I've signed up for a 10k run so i've been working on getting ready for that, so i'm hoping to slide on down the scale some more. Good luck to all.
