| HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way! if you have any suggestions, please tell me.... |

Whew reading everything is so exhausting... EVERYONE has been doing so fantastic.
Hye: Don't worry about what happened this weekend. I am 99% positive it is sodium gain. The way you can tell is if your feet feel a little tighter in your shoes. I know i had a fried funnel cake (only 25%) but the fried part definately had an impact and my feet and fingers seem to be a little "swollen". If you drink a little more water than normal that should go down within the next three or four days. You are doing great! Don't get down on yourself. And I agree VK you already won the battle of figuring out what went wrong. Welcome back and welcome new people! So happy to have more people on here. I have decided to STOP weighing myself to check my loss every day. I am going to weigh in every Sunday morning from now on.... It is going to definately be difficult. I started CC on April 16 and have only lost 4 pounds too... Some part of me believes it is only water weight also, but I have been eating Okay and have definately changed my eating styles. Rather than eating 6 fajitas yesterday, only ate one and then for dinner had 1 and a half :-) Walked a TON this weekend! Probably 6-7 miles total! WHEW.... Anyway Good luck this week everyone!!! |

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! Today, I went to run some errands and I was starving. The only closest place was McDonald's. So, knowing that I needed to be good, I had decided that I was going to order a salad. I get to the counter and the words Chicken McNuggets come out of my mouth! I couldn't believe how quickly my discipline went out the window. As I'm sitting there and eating the nuggets, a little disgusted...I realize I'm getting full. So, I didn't eat all the nuggets only 8 and I only ate a quarter of the medium fries. I got home and put in the calories! It was lower in calories than what I had originally planned for lunch! I've learned my lesson...always bring something healthy to munch on when shopping! I did walk for about 2 hours today just shopping and browsing. Not a lot of exercise but, something besides sitting at home. So, although my day didn't start out that great, I'm pretty happy about for not eating everything in front of me at McDonald's. I think I've had my fill of greasy foods now because it didn't even taste good to me. V as for the Boca Burgers, you can grill them with a little BBQ sauce, that'll add some flavor. You can grill them, cut them into strips and make tacos out of them. You can crumble them up and make sloppy joes. You can grill them, cut them and eat on a salad. Or you can just use them as hockey pucks. Hahaha! Here's their official website complete with recipes. http://www.bocaburger.com/recipe_burgers.html. Let me know how it all works out! |

welcome misty...this is a great place to start!!! I have never tried boca burgers...never appealed to me... wtg hye on the choices at McDonald's...it is amazing that even when we think we are making bad decisions, we do better than we think... queen...I am also a slave to the scale...I had promised myself 2 weeks ago that I would only weigh once a week...that lasted 2 days...lol...I just try not to get worked up about it...and just see what it says...and only pay attention to the official weigh-in... Speaking of official weigh-ins...my WW meeting was tonight and I lost another 2 pounds...I am down 7.2 pounds in 2 weeks...:) I was so excited...!!! Wtg everyone on a terrific Monday!! Keep up the good work!! |

hey tabby, you're doing so good!!
bqueen, I never would have thought I would be able to stay off that dang scale, but I have managed to keep off it during the week for the most part. I sometimes take a mid week peek and this last weekend I decided to switch from Sun to Sat, but it can be done. Give it a shot. hye, I've had that happen in the past at Micky D's. Somehow you look at that colorful, tempting menu and the voice saying ,"salad" gets drowned out by the french fries and burgers, nuggets, I better stop before I find myself in the car. Did good to stop yourself, that is such a good feeling to be able to stop. hey misty, can't beat the price for this great site! carol, thanks for explaining the hummus thing. It was a mystery to me. glad you're back turtle! writestuff, that's such a bummer to be diagnosed with pre diabetes after all your hard work to lose the weight. Hopefully as you continue to lose you can turn that around. I worry alot about getting diabetes because my dad died from it and at my weight I know I'm at risk. yesterday morning my hubby made breakfast and as I'm eating the scrambled eggs he asks how they taste. I said they were okay, why? So he tells me that he put cream in them! AAAAKK!! I'd like to say I stopped immediately, but I ate a few more bites first and told him to please not do that again! Didn't make them taste any better anyway. The big dork! Well I like it that he makes Sunday breakfast so I had to forgive him. |

hi all! Welcome to all the newbies. it still feels odd to say that because i'm still so new myself, but hey, Helloo and welcome.
This weekend went VERY well! i managed to stay within my calories all weekend. just under 1500 for 2 or 3 days and under 1700 most days. Today i forgot my lunch at home and didn't have any money on me so i was really hungry when I got home. Pizza was so good! I even drank about a half cup of Pepsi which probably wasn't a good choice for my diabetes but only 1/2 a cup was really better than I expected to do. I didn't get much exercise on Saturday but made up for it on Sunday. A friend and i walked about 5 miles (to an ice cream place) and treated ourselves to ice cream. i got a child size scoop in a cup instead of a cone! Chocolate peanut butter and still managed to stay under 1500 calories. I impressed myself...... Today, I did an hour of Zumba and now I am really getting stiff and sore, but not nearly as bad as i was expecting to be. Sneak Peek on the scales -- 235. Official weigh in is Wednesday so I have to be good over the next couple of days. Monday is weigh in for me and my cousing (Sneak peak) and Wednesday is the official weigh in for a team challenge at work. other than that i don't weigh. It really keeps me motivated to stay in line and exercise and then there is the accountability with all of you. Peer pressure can be a good thing, and peer support from the same people can't be beat!!!! Thanks guys. |

| At least Im not the only one "peeking" at the scale... LOL I went from 208.6 to 206.4!!! WHEW! I am sure it is water weight but hey, a little bit goes a long way.... My goal of being under 200 by the end of the months approaching! I have been eating a TON of fruit! Totally enjoyed todays lunch... I had a Baked Ziti Marinara Smart Ones, 10 baby carrots, 1 medium apple, and 6 yummy strawberries... Had a yogurt before practice and just ate 2 slices of cantaloupe, 30 grapes and a half cup non fat cottage cheese.... It is 92 over here on the west coast so cooking anything is TOTALLY out of the question! MMMM I love fruit.... | ||

hye- the chicken nuggets really aren't a bad choice at mcdonalds. sodium isn't that great obviously but hte cals are low for fast food.
welcome to everyone new! get right into posting and let us knwo how you are doing! congrats on all the losses! keep it up! so i woke up this morning mad b/c my friends came over and cooked spaghetti and meatballs for me for dinner. that and teh 3 pieces of garlic bread and the margarita and tequila sunrise made me keep on some water. so i was good and ate a salad for lunch (a whopping 80 calories lol) and then some oatmeal in teh afternoon. Went to teh gym and got there about an hour before my cousin so I did laps for an hour. Then when she got there we did leisurely laps while talking for another hour. got home and had a bowl of spaghetti for dinner (it's not so bad when it doesn't come w/ 3 pieces of garlic bread!). I have a ginormous deficit today! hmmmm maybe a treat of some sort for dessert! But definitely lots of water to make the extra pounds that showed up on the scale this morning go away. |

Hi Everyone! I would love to join this club. I am so happy I found this site! My stats are 5'7" and 222lbs. I just got married and it seems that the marital newly-wed bliss is very fattening! I was never skinny but since the wedding I have gained 45 lbs! The wedding was about 6 months ago! The funny thing about it I work in a gym! AND I just got certified as a fitness instructor! I just never seem to have time to actually work out and I wouldn't want to either it is full of soldiers! I really think that the times you eat have a major effect on the bodyfat out come. I have been looking at my intake logs and I am not that bad, (OK somedays I totally suck at self control but still), however, I gained two pounds last week! EEk! Does anyone know of the magic time to eat during the day or the taboo time!??! |

hye, thanks for reminding me. I have to go shopping today and will need to do something about lunch. I usually eat ONE slice of thin-crust pizza which is about 250 calories. But I think I will bring my lunch with me instead. I can make a ham sandwich for only 185 calories. Where we have to shop is about an hour 1 1/2 away so we usually bring a cooler with us for items that need to be kept cold on the way back. So this time, I will use it as a picnic basket for the trip down.
Welcome to the club mizbitz & mistyb! And a BIG HOOORAY for everyone who lost weight so far this week. bqueen, Those weight spikes will drive you crazy so most of us have cut out the daily trip to the scale and have started weighing in weekly. It really makes things a lot easier. |

Welcome to all the new people...wtg on joining c-c and this group.
I was so happy to catch up today, was 3 pages behind and got to read about everyone. Wtg on the losses and the good choices made... for those who ate too much...it will come off. My stats for Sunday, Day 36...worked outside on a peacock pen for 4 hours, had 376 calories until 2:30 and then ate like a pig... I made good choices though and ended up with 1901 calories, 16 ounces of water. Stats for Monday, Day 35, ate 1732 calories, 45 minutes walking, and 64 ounces of water. My official weigh in for Monday was 240, down 2 more pounds. Today is day 34...I still want to try to make 230, that's only 10 lbs. I think I can do this, the 10 pounds in 34 days...Then I want to set up a time frame for each 10 lbs until 185. WIth you guys here to talk to it should be easy.....:-) |

WTG ginny! 10 More Pounds? You can do it! We're all pullin' for ya!GINNY ... GINNY ... GINNY!!! You have peacocks ginny? That's great! I have plenty of room here now and would love to get some animals but our neighbor's 3 yr. old pitbull has adopted me and won't let any other animals get near me. She's a sweetie but she is powerful and has already beat up a dog that came here to visit with a friend of ours. She's good with other dogs as long as they're not at my house. She also chases anything that moves ... rabbits, deer, birds, bumble bees, etc. I can't even get a cat because she is at my house as much as she is at her own. Her name is Tasha. |

Mizbitz: The best times to eat are about 30 minutes after you wake up in the morning and every 3 hours (of course small meals and healthy snacks) and stopping before 7:00 pm. This allows your body to continuously work to digest and stops before going to bed!
Ginny: You can do it! You are already doing so well and those slip ups, well they are only slip ups and sometimes you need one to stay on track! WHOO HOO! Ell: I used to have a neighbor who had this Tiny little chihuahua that would sneak in through a hole in the fence every time he heard my outside swimming or BBQ'n or anything.... Aren't animals funny little creatures! |

We got 4 peacocks for my husband this weekend...he has wanted some for as long as he can remember and we were able to find some in the local paper...We also have rabbits, 2 dogs, and 3 alpacas. We have had a rooster, 2 goats and 3 pigs. My son sold his pig and we put the other 2 in the freezer along with the 2 goats. I won't have to buy meat for the rest of the year unless I want something different...The rooster we ate already...:-)
I am getting some chickens and a new rooster from my neighbors soon. We still need to build another pen...My goal in moving up here was that we would be 70% self sufficient in 5 years. (living off our own land...) With the rabbits, and chickens, we will have meat, and then our garden. When we can put up enough fencing, I want to get a cow. I don't know if I will milk her eventually or just have babies to eat...Milking is twice a day, EVERY DAY...I don't know if I am ready for that. Last year's garden was our first up here, experimenting with what will grow at this altitude (5730 feet) and so high up the globe from the equator...cucumbers, potatoes, onions and beans did well. I was able to put up enough jars of pickles to give as Christmas presents...This year I want to put up everything I can and then see how long it takes to eat it all so that I will know how much to put up next year. Well, I hope everyone is having a good day...I gave myself a treat this morning...I usually cut my own bangs here and then get my hair cut twice a year. I cut my hair myself this morning...I took 2 inches off. I figured if I butchered it I could always go in and have it fixedbecause it was getting long. I am sure the lady would laugh but I think it turned out okay...if there is anything uneven, you can't tell...I wear it up everyday anyway but it sure feels good right now, lighter and in better shape...I better get going outside and finish chores. |

omgosh omgosh omgosh!!! i made it into the 250's category! 259.4 this morning....i'm so excited i could just...PEEEE......LOL! I think i finally have a handle on this thing...i found lots of little booboos i was making....like not watching the differences in calories between brands...some days i had more calories than i thought....and not skipping a water aerobics class...and never never never grabbing a tempting sweet...not even one. o i feel sooooo much better!!! i'm so eager to hit 258 lbs....that will be my 50 lb loss mark....i weighed 308 lbs last summer...uggghhh.
Hey, if i can do this at 58 yrs old, anyone can! I have gone from uncontrolled diabetes to very well controlled diabetes with no meds or insulin...my glucose readings are in the totaly normal range now! My doctor is going to be delighted when i see her on the 22nd of this month...i can hardly wait! If anyone out there is discouraged, please know you can do this thing! I started out with moderate exercise....literally sitting in my easy chair waving my legs back and forth scissor style...and slowly...until i got enugh strength to do it fast, then added 2 lb weights to hold while waving my arms around. Then i added walking around my house for 45 secconds...yup, i was that weak! You just gotta start somewhere! It really does work to just start with whatever you CAN do, no matter how little it is. JUST START! |

Wow! So many great successes!! I'm proud of all you guys. bqueenme - Great job!! I totally know how you feel. I'm having the hardest time to get rid of the last couple of pounds to get me under 200. Right now, I'm at 201.4. I've been bouncing from 200.4 - 202.6 for the past three weeks now. Someday soon, I hope to be under 200. ktcort - I was shocked that the chicken nuggets weren't worse. It was a nice pleasant surprise. I think I'm over fast food for a while. My tummy wasn't feeling good from my two days of bad eating. My husband said that our bodies were no longer used to the junk because we've been eating healthy stuff. mitzbitz - Welcome! I know all the happily wedded bliss pounds. Well, congrats on becoming a fitness instructor and make some time for yourself! ell - bell - It happened again today. I was out and was starving. Luckily there was a health food store nearby and I stopped in to get a bottled water and some smoked almonds from their bulk bins. It held me over until I came home to eat lunch. ginny - Holy cow! I had no idea you such a functional farm. I think it's great that you're trying to live right off of your land. Just imagine all the money you're going to save! Not to mention your part in helping out the environment. Great job!! I am impressed! dreamcruz - I'm glad you had such a good time! Tequila...I remember my days with tequila. Most often I ended where you did. Hahahaha!! I'm glad that you are not seeing the weight gain as a step back. That's great that you're right back to your routine. It's amazing how fast those few extra pounds sneak back?!? caroljoy - YEAHHHH!!!! I'm happy for ya! Keep it up! That's cute...I'm so excited I could PEEE....I'm gonna have to remember that one! Alright I wrote a novel.....sorry! |

Oh, I completely forget to tell you guys...the whole reason why I signed on.....hehehehehe....I was just so excited about everyone's successes, I forgot to mention my own... Today, I was out running errands....again. Smelling all of that yummy food coming from nearby restaurants made me really hungry. I was starving again and found myself in the same predicament as yesterday. Except today, there was a health food store nearby and I stopped in grabbed a bottle of water and handful of smoked almonds from their bulk bins. I ate that until I came home. On my way home, I realized...duh! I can do that anytime, I don't always have to be near a health food store. Those convienent stores always have bottled water and some kind of packaged nuts. Anyways, the success for today is control. I had some control today and not to mention pee-ing everywhere I go because I've been drinking lots of water today! Alright...I have to go out and run the last of my errands...jut had to share that with you guys! |

Congrats HYE, on making great choices...Isn't it amazing when we find something to make this life style change really work. THen we aren't deprived and going back to old ways.
CAROL< CAROL< CAROL....Yeah for you!!!!! Great job everyone!!!!! Well, while out doing chores this morning....cleaning out the stalls of yucky wet hay from last week's rain storms...my puppy Jodi was acting wierd. I finally stopped to see what was wrong and she was all swollen...she apparently got into a fire ant nest, trying to eat the bugs runing around...her eyes and mouth were swollen and hives all over her. I called the vet, gave her benadryl and a bath and have kept her quiet now for the past hour and a half...My husband says she will be fine but I wasn't sure so have stayed in with her...I think now she will be fine, 90 minutes later, and will go back outside soon to finish my work...I am going to put some cream of wheat on the nest...any other ideas? Since we drink from a well here, don't want to use chemicals that will end up in our water.... |
