Our motto for the wedding plans, as is our daily living motto "Keep it Simple"! Easier said than done, of course. But so far, things have gone smoothly, and under budget!! And I have seen a couple episodes of "bridezilla" so I know how not to go overboard with the planning and stress (who's idea was it that this show is "comedy" anyway??)

Kris good luck on planning the wedding. I know it can be stressful. That is why I did not want a wedding. We went to the JP to get married just me him and the baby. My friends kept telling me I was crazy but that is what I wanted.

My B-day is coming up on Dec. 3rd and me and my husband are going to go to shreveport to gamble and stay the night I can not wait. This will be the first night we have been alone together since the baby was born.

Trapp,

Your little one is adorable! And grandmas know adorable when they see it!!

We may be able to stop in Shreveport on our 28 day honeymoon in the RV. From Buffalo, we're heading south thru Akron and Cincinnati, down the Natchez trace to New Orleans, then along the Gulf Cost before heading north again. I've never been to that area before and am truly looking forward to exploring!

Thanks Kris!

She loves the camera. I feel bad because I don't have any pictures of my son on here I need to put some on here. He is 14 and hates to take pictures. Maybe I can sneak some in this weekend he is in ROTC and they have a special uniform for competion and he is supposed to get it today or tomorrow.

Hi all1

Where is everyone? It has been slow lately. Time to check in and let us know how you are doing. I am not doing so good. Gained weight this week because I can't seem to get control of my eating. I am depressed and I take medication for it but I just don't seem to be able to get control of it this week.

Anyone have suggestions on how to get back on the plan after you fall off? Does anyone have suggestions on dealing with depression or on hints on controlling emotional eating?

#1127 rebepi Nov 15 2007 12:16
Lora, I was depressed for a really long time and had a huge problem controlling what I ate because I believed it gave me comfort. Everytime I start to get back into that funk and I want to eat, I look at myself in the mirror and ask myself if gaining weight will just make me more depressed (thus a never ending cycle).

Instead of eating, I've taken to calling a friend just to chat and get my mind off of being sad and off of the need for food. Sometimes I just read a really good book to put myself whole heartedly into a story. (They used to tell me that was escapism, but whatever if it works for me.)

You need a good support system. People who understand what it means to be depressed and who are willing to help you with it.

I know how hard things can get when you're depressed. Just keep thinking how far you've come. You're a wonderful, insightful, intelligent woman. Don't berate yourself over a small weight gain. Accept that it happened and learn from your eating mistakes.

I hope you're doing ok. PM me if you ever want to chat.

Lora, depression can be a difficult thing to overcome. Rebeca made some very good suggestions.

Here are some things that have helped me:

  1. Write a Gratitude List, 10 items you're thankful for today, even if it's only little, everyday things. This helps refocus onto positives.
  2. Get some physical activity, take a walk or whatever. This produces endorphins, and really does help lift the depression!
  3. Remember H>A>L>T! Don't get too Hungry, Anxious, Lonely or Tired.
  4. Remember, if hunger isn't the problem, food is not the answer! Food can not solve any problems or make your emotions feel better! In fact, it can make you feel worse, like the guilt that comes after overeating.
  5. Help someone else, thus taking the emphasis of you. Helping others redirects our thoughts, and makes us feel better for doing so.

We're all here to support and encourage each other! Let us know what we can do to help.

Hey Everyone. Been away a while and just wanted to stop back in and say hello. Hope everyone is doing ok and staying strong in the fight. Everyone have a wonderful Holiday and take care.
#1130 humorpam Nov 15 2007 16:37
Lora, I feel your pain girl. I pray that the depression lifts quickly. Rebecca and Sue gave really good responses and I urge you to consider them and apply them to your life. Hang in there.
#1131 trapp32 Nov 15 2007 17:47
I am so proud of myself. We decided as a office we would eat out and usually someone else goes which is ok because they will bring what I tell them. No changing my mind. Well they wanted me to go which I was really worried about. We chose Burger King and you know that you can smell those burgers a mile away. I saw that menu and everything looked so good. But I stuck to my plan and had the grilled chicken salad and only ate a litlle of the dressing. I am so proud because those burgers and fries smelt so good.
#1132 krismasself Nov 15 2007 18:35
Ya know, I'm getting to the point where those greasy smells turn me OFF!! Now isn't that a miraculous thing??!!??
#1133 sarahrip Nov 15 2007 19:55

Lora, Know that I am thinking of you and praying that this will pass quickly. I'm with the ladies, there tips might help. Try to get out and about just doing something might help. Take Care and keep pluggin away.

Good Job Trapp! bet that salad was tasty too .

I hope I can get to that point Sue when the smell turns me off. =)

Is anyone else experieincing excessive hair loss as you loose pounds? Only suggestion I've gotten is to take minearls, which I already do. Any other ideas? I sure don't want to have to wear a wig for the wedding!!
#1135 rebepi Nov 16 2007 15:44
Kris, I've heard that hair loss is due to a lack of vitamins. But if you're already taking a supplement, it wouldn't be a bad idea just to call your doctor or a nutritionist to ask.
#1136 krismasself Nov 16 2007 16:14

Thanks, rebecca,

I am going to stop at the Vitam Shoppe after work to see about some other supplements, and another CC friend suggested asking the doctor about hormone level tests.

Hard to contemplate that I'm reaching the age where I may need great numbers of pills each day!!

Hi guys!  I am new to the site and new to the forum but definately NOT new to the dieting world.  I came out of the womb round and have been that way all my life.  According to the charts here I need to lose an entire person.  That made my day!  I am 5' and was 235 at my first weigh in on Wednesday.  My short term, maybe a little unrealistic, goal is 200 by New Year's.  My goal weight is 115.  I think I weighed that in the 1st grade.....

As you can probably tell I use humor to get me through most things since I quit smoking and now have (for the most part) given up chocolate.  I think that this site is a great tool and it's wonderful that you don't have someone standing over you saying "why are you putting that in your mouth?".  If I want all my calories for one day to be in chocolate that's my choice.  Not a healthy one, but it's still mine!

I won't bore you all with anymore of my ramblings.  It's been great to read through the postings and see that there are others like me out there.  I am now a stay at home mom but even when I was working most of the women who were as large or larger than I am didn't really want to do anything about it so there was no support at home or at work.  Good luck to you all and together we can take it off and keep it off!!!!

Betsy

Hi everyone,

I am new to the site and everything just seems to fit in this thread. I am 21 yrs old, 5'4, and weigh 209 pounds. My weight goal is 130 and I would like to be down to atleast 150 by May 25th of 2008 (which is the family beach trip) and the other 20 pounds by August 22nd (which is my 2 year wedding anniversary).

I weighed around 150 when I got out of high school because I had spent my whole life playing volleyball and soccer. I started putting on weight after I got married and started a new job. I had less time to work out and spent more time eating out. Fortunately for my husband, he has great genes and so all the food he eats I seem to gain the weight for, Lol! I had gotted down to about 197 but got depressed when I seemed to hit a rut and I put all the weight I had lost back on and more. I'm back down to 209 but have a long way to my goal.

My biggest problem is I work late so I am always eating late at night; usually around 10-11 at night. I have a hard time forcing myself to go to the gym. I will, however, credit myself with giving up any kind of soft drink because I use to drink 7 or 8 cans of soda a day and no water. Now all I drink is water.

Everyone here seems so friendly and willing to give and take advice and I love it. It's hard to get the support I need at home when my counterpart weighs 140 pounds @ 5'10! He makes me sick!!! Tongue out  Everyone seems super motivated and I look forward to sharing tips, tricks, goals, and weight loss with you all!

 Kara
