If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?
Thank you :)
I cant complain about my legs...they're one of the few places of my body I'm happy with. I skated for years, and that definition stuck, apparently.
I'll be weighing in either tomorrow or Thursday ( i dont go to the gym on Wednesdays.=0 ) If thats all right with you ladies. I have a feeling I'll be back up to 132. I've been measuring myself, and I dont seem to have gotten any smaller in the stomach, where i WANT to lose the weight, so, I dont know where I'm loosing it. Probably my boobs. That would just figure. =(
I weighed myself this morning and I was back down to 126! I'm so happy! I just hope that I don't have another crazy water weight gain for tomorrow's weigh in.
I would like to join the club! :)
I am 5'2 3/4" and currently sit at 126-130 depending on where and when I get weighed. People around my office do not believe that i weigh that much because they all think I look so tiny. I guess I carry it well as the saying goes.
But I am not happy with it. I mean I feel good since my highest weight was 270 back in 2003 so to have come this far is a big accomplishment for me. Plus I am running in 5k which I never would have though was possible last year!
I would like to be around 120. I work out about 5-6 times a week for about 60 minutes. My calorie intake is about 1200-1500 which I have been told I need to up since I work out so much and it might help me shed a few more pounds. I do weights maybe 2 times out of the week.
Does anyone have any suggestions on toning? The weights seem to help my arms but my legs still look all bulky and huge! I got my big calves from my dad and they just do not seem to want to lean out!
Good Luck to everyone! It has been fun reading your posts!
Hi Anne, welcome!
I am 5'3" and about 133. It is the same way for me at the office. We are actually doing a biggest loser competition and I signed up so I could be motivated and have a chance to win the percentage portion. When I did my first weighin my co-worker was surprised (I took no offense lucky for her
) My goal is between 115--120 so You're not alone and it is perfectly fine to want to be thin!
If you want your legs to look slimmer I would suggest not lifting weights heavily. You could try using ;lighter weights for more reps or could just stick to running. Have you ever noticed how lean runners are? not my style, but it could work for you.
I'm sure you don't want to read this , but you may be stuck with those legs for good fi thats the way your body is shaped. However, there is no reason not to try everything you can:) Good luck with your 5K!!
edit: sorry for the long message, but I thought of another step you might want to try for your legs...massage! massage could help loosen your muscles and fascia so that your legs can reshape.
Welcome everyone, and happy April Fools Day!
anne_stace, congrats on the 5k and the weight loss so far! For toning, does your bulk come from muscle or fat? I would suggest calisthenics like squats and such. And perhaps stretching exercises along with your cardio. Have you tried swimming too?
Thank you sauciedj & dmartineau1 for the advice!
Right now I am doing 30 pounds weights on my legs about 2-3 times a week. I never go up in weights just do a lot of reps. I heard that adding weight is what causes the bulkyness. I used to have a lot of fat right behind my calf under my knee area. That has started to go away but my calves are still 15". I think it might be hereditary since my dad has such big ones.
I think I will just try to stretch more and continue to run. It is working on getting rid of the fat at least. I would just love the lean look on my muscles.
I did do pilates for awhile and that really leaned my arms and stomach out so maybe I can start trying that again.
Hi everybody! Just stopping by to celebrate my one month anniversary of healthier eating! I started March 1st (obviously) at 144 lbs, and as of today I'm hovering at 135. While I'm not too keen on the "hovering" part, I feel so much better about my body in general now that I'm making a conscious effort to eat better. And there's a wee bit of muscle definition on my arms now, and that's a first for me!
Now here's a question: how many of you own a scale? I'm thinking about buying one, because I just realized my campus gym membership expires May 25th, so I won't be able to weight myself after that. And I have no clue where I'll be living after graduation, so it's not like I'll be getting another membership elsewhere any time soon. Should I buy my own scale? I don't want to get obsessed with numbers...that's my only concern. So I'm curious how many of you actually have scales in your homes...?
So I don't know how weigh in is going to look tomorrow because I am sick again. I guess it's only fair karma after me talking about splurging on my cheat days.
Does anyone know of a good multi to help me steer clear of these colds? I do teach little kids so it makes me wonder if they just keep giving it to me.
wonderwhy: I own a scale but its a pretty crappy one. Its not all high tech and digital like most people have these days. But it does the trick sometimes. My daughter likes to play with it so I'm not so sure how well it works as far as accuracy goes. Because of this, I measure my true loss in inches and by the way my clothes fit me. I also feel great
simig: I think its the kids, they carry germs in their little pockets and bring them to school to share with the class. My little girl seems to always have something but when school is out she seems fine. I suggest carrying a small, no make that a big bottle of that germ gel. When kids pass on a cold to an adult it turns into the plague. Just last week my daughter came home with a cold. She gave it to me and it turned into the flu.
Does anybody else here usually feel like crap on there cheat days? I start to get headaches and a little sick feeling in my belly. Almost like my body is telling me to "put the cookie down". I no longer have cravings but I still like a little sweet on my palate every now and again. So I guess I should just chose my sweets wisely. It still sucks because nutter butters and reese cups are my favorite

Slow and steady wins the race, I guess. At least I didn't go up like last week :-) Hope everyone had a good week!
Ok, weigh in!
SW: 132
CW: 126
I've lost 6lbs since I began this weight loss journey!
I'm glad to be back at 126. I'm hoping for 125 at next week's weigh in. My weight seems to fluctuate a lot, but my BF% is down, and my clothes are getting loose, so that's all I care about!
Simignonne: I recommend you take zinc. I take it daily, and haven't had a cold in about 7 years. When my husband gets colds (he doesn't take zinc daily), he'll take the zinc or buy zinc lozenges and gets over his cold in a day or two.
Morisht: A good way to check the accuracy of your scale is to weigh a weight on it. For example, place a 10lb free weight on it and see what it says. If it says anything other than 10lbs, you'll need to do a little math when you weigh yourself on it. Even though I own an expensive digital scale, it weighs everything as being half a pound heavier, so I just keep that in mind when I weigh myself.

Guess I need to work harder this week. maybe I'll add one more gym day.
STARTING WT: 140
GOAL WT: 115-120
LAST WK WT: 133
TODAY'S WT: 132
Although I'm only down a pound I've lost 2 inches in my waist and I am so proud of that. Went from a 35inch waist to a 33inches. I checked it this morning and that motivates me to keep going the way I am going.
Ladies , have a great Wednesday!!!
Hello everyone!
Goal: 115-120
LW: 133.5
Today:131.5![]()
I hope this is accurate! It may be muscle since I havent done any heavy weight lifting since last wednesday, but for the biggest loser competition it will be ok:) I'm more concerned with losing inches and fat before gaining a lot of muscle
My turn...
SW: 150
LW: 131.9
Today: 130.6 YEAY!
GW: 120-125
What a relief it is to see the scale move down...have a great Wednesday!
Hi, I am starting to diet today FOR REAL. I know we all say it but seriously I am going to focus on food as fuel instead of enjoyment. As of right now I don't have measurements besides that I am 5'2 and 3/4" and I weight 144. Anyone can join this group at anytime right? Because I would love to join. My goal weight is 115-120. Let's do this everyone!!! You know we want it!!!! ![]()
wonderswhy, I have a scale at home. I used to have a pretty crappy one, but I upgraded to a nice one that weighs by the half pound. It's supposed to be pretty accurate, so my excuse of blaming everything on the scale is gone. =] makes things more realistic for me. I think if you keep your weigh-ins consistent, you shouldn't have a problem obsessing over numbers. And if you do, maybe you could put the scale out of the way or at someone's house who you visit once a week or so?
simignonne, I don't know of a multi, but my last roommate told me that garlic really helps the immune system. I read somewhere here that it helps the metabolism too, so that seems win-win to me. The one time I got sick, my roommate made me a soup that was mostly garlic, and it really did help. He made me eat it when I wasn't sick too actually...
morisht, last night, I found something that worked for me, maybe it will for you too. I was really craving a large chocolate cake (a la Olive Garden, no less) so I pulled out a pack of organic dark chocolate. I decided to take a shower first (I usually shower at night before I go to bed), and when I settled down after my shower, I didn't want chocolate anymore. It was pretty weird too because the package was still sitting there in front of me, and I was trying to want some.
My weigh in is the same as last week, 123.5. I was 124.5 all week before today though, but it was my TOTM. It kind of screwed up my whole calculations, and I'm not really sure where I'm at now, but I'm going to just pretend last week wasn't there and assume that I'm where I was last Wednesday.
Welcome to the group, mandy11825!
What is TOMT?
Oh sorry, it's "time of the month."
Well the scale disappointed me again, but it was my TOTM so I'l claim that maybe that was why i didn't lose much.
last week 138.4
this week 138.2
My body evidently loves 138. I'm getting kind of tired of it though.
Good luck everyone!!
