140/130 club

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

i'm still working on pms cravings :) i just try to have a little bit of sugar and leave it at that :) but there are a lot of ice cream and popsicle type treats that won't pack on a lot of calories if you can limit yourself to just 1 :)

have fun with that taebo!
lily, the only way i stay organized with responses is that when you are in reply mode you are still able to look at the posts, and even go back a page on them just by clickin on the page number inside the post box :)  otherwise i would totally leave people out lol.. and hormonal, oh joy lol.. i think i am always hormonal..  probably going through that phase in my life, yipppeee.. my wish is to be 21 again lol.. not almost 37.. lol..

wonder why i didnt get that  binge email lol..  but hey lettuce and cabbage sound like a pretty good binge lol..  and that cardboard has got plenty of fiber in it i am sure ;)

okay now i am really off to exercise, lol...
oh morgan - yay on the sailors and marines being released.. bet their families are excited :)
thanks for the info dj, I def would have not done that if you hadn't told me! lol!

unicat, you are pretty much correct... it's a unit that you mount your back tire on and there is a metal bar that the tire sits on and creates resistance. I'm not sure if dj can explain it much better since I don't even have one... yet :) The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the stationary part... I love feeling the wind when I'm out!! I can't really decide between getting a bike trainer or joining spinning classes.... but neither of those will probably happen till winter again... soooo.. we'll see....

no cure for sweet cravings yet... esp at ttom!!

unicat, way to get that workout in! good job!!
interesting--i have never heard of such a contraption! i'm not a huge fan of stationary anything. i HATE the treadmill...but i do it because i want to be skinnier :) lol :) oh the silly things we do...i mean, have you really thought about it? we're like hampsters :)
A bike trainer is exactly as described--you hook your back tire to a stand with a magnetic resistance wheel on it.  You can adjust the tension on your bike using that or your gears.  I cycle a lot--in fact I go on extended bike tours all summer--but I live in a climate that snows ALL winter.  So this is a cheaper alternative to buying a stationary bike.  Plus, I get to ride my own bike, and keep the calluses on my butt (I know, too much info).

Mine cost bout 90 bucks--much cheaper than a stationary bike, and again I really LOVE my bike, so anytime I can ride it, I'm happy!
Hope everyone is having a good day!  Pms cravings are the worst - sometimes I just want to go crazy.  What I have been doing is getting sugar free jello pudding and freezing them.  After dinner or anytime I get a sweet tooth, I have one.  Since they are frozen solid, they take FOREVER to finish - I can spend like 20 minutes on one!  And they are only 60 calories.  It has really helped me because ice cream is my downfall.  Before, I was exercising but still having a huge bowl of ice cream every night.  Now, I sub the ice cream for frozen sugar free jello and allow myself the real stuff once a week.

Anyway just did a good workout at the gym and now I have to study for a horrible economics exam I am having tomorrow.  Ahh I can't wait for the semester to be over!

Oh yeah someone said something about getting protein at work - what I have started to do is bring a balence bar with me to school on days when I have to work right after class.  I don't have time for lunch so I eat one and they really fill me up.  Kinda have a lot of sugar though, which sucks.  But they are good.  Ok take care all!
thanks for verifying my idea of what it was stacey and dee, lol. i thought i basically had it right :)

okay, i did my taebo.. but this time i did it a little bit different.. i concentrated more on the quality rather then quantity.. instead of trying to keep up with them on each different move, i instead made sure i had the move down correctly..  whereas i didnt do as much as they did, i did the move in the correct technique and i think i got a better workout from it.. i can definitely feel it more.. so maybe as i get more into the hang of doing them correctly i will get more in.. but feel its good to concentrate on technique (which i would say i didnt have down pat cos i was trying to keep moving as fast as they were) so will do it at my own pace til then :)  off to shower.. (i sweat more too lol)
freezing the jello is a great idea! i eat grapefruit for the same reason that it takes me forever to eat one! that way i'm definitely not still craving once i finish :)

good luck on the exam! i'm just trying to pull through the last couple hours of work!
I didnt know what a bike trainer was either.. hmm.. sounds good for when you dont want to step outdoors..

Yup @ sweet tooth.. I too have that problem esp. before and during TTOM..Kellog's special K snack bars are good: 90 calories a bar (though I thought they were a bit too sweet even during that time).. also I wouldnt advise more than 1 such bar a day cause they cause sugar and insulin highs.

I guess fruits are the healthiest way to handle sugar cravings.. sadly they dont always sound great at the time.

I didn't get any binge- email either ! Maybe I've opted out of getting mail or something..?.. Got to check.
I may try that jello freezing thing! It sounds really good!
Hey!  The frozen jello/pudding is a GREAT idea.. sounds yummy!  I'm going to the store on the way home specifically to pick some up :) I try to keep fruit around and i do love fruit.. but when one of those 'crazy lady' ttom cravings is goin' on.. it sounds very unappetizing.  I've had the special k bars and they're tasty; i do find the sugar up and down has me craving another one not too much time after I eat the first one though.  I found these 100 cal chocolate peanut butter rice crispy treats the other day.. they're good!

Thanks all for the info on the stationary bike. I had never heard of it either.. but it sounds like something I might try!  I've been good with getting to the gym for 1.25 hr a day 6 days a week but when I start my new job (while still working the one I have) I'm going to be needing something I can do at home to supplement the exercise routine.  I hate running so this sounds like a great alternative!  Good luck on that exam ash.. and keep up the good work everyone! <3

Hope you are all enjoying the day.. great job on the tae boe.. I studied martial arts for a long time, and good technique will definately make the time you spend doing it more worthwhile.  and
thanks lily :)  ummm what else were you going to say?? you left it off with "AND" ?? lol..   i definitely feel it in my muscles today :)
I had a whole other paragraph in there! Where did it go lol.. the sad part is I forget what it was about (I know it was encouraging words to everyone haha.. this is what happens when I try to multi multi multi task at work!!!)  Sorry bout that!
Hey, it is hard for me to catch up with all you guys!  Well, 140 on the scale this am :-(  I think my body must be allergic to the 130's.  I get close and then...I did manage to get up and go to my second spinning class (ever) before school.

So Emily, CONGRATS on getting to 130's.  It is a psychological motivation to keep going.  You are inspiring me!  I know, I know, everyone is right, it is just a number.....but good job!

Morgan, Japan, how very cool!  Yes, great food lots of fish and veggies.  They aren't big on fatty foods.  I loved Kyoto.  The history is rich.  In fact, during WW II the US was advised not to bomb Kyoto because of the historical significance.  They also have lots of runners there.  So, I KNOW you will do a great job on your 5K.  I'm excited for you.  My first 5K was through a zoo as well.

Unicat, yes, I have been guilty of eating the cardboard in one of my binges!!  That was a good article.  I, too, live in Hawaii and went through the earthquake etc.  In fact, I was going to go biking that am and decided against it - rockslides. I love that I can run outside almost every day.  Oh, regading the pumpkin pudding, use the instant ff sf vanilla jello pudding mix.  Nocooking, just mix well, and put it in the fridge for 5 minutes. Not sure of the calories, but the pumpkin adds lots of fiber and vitamin A.

Hope your days went well.  The sun doesn't reach here as fast as most of you.  I'm mid-morning - recess!! :-)

I don't like to promote brands, but have you guys tried those tofu noodles?  (This may have been on a previous post.)  They are amazing and  2 servings are only 40 calories + fiber and protein.  They sound gross, but are really good -just rinse them well!!
cathy, whereabouts in hawaii do you live??  amazing someone else on here in this group from the same area :)  good thing you didnt go biking that morning, lol..  i'm not a good runner, not comfortable with it? so i dont run.. lol..  i forgot i wanted to try that pumpkin mix... still sounds yummy, gonna have to see the calories on it though lol..
Unicat : sounds like you had a great workout! I'm gonna try to get achey too..

Cathy: what brand of tofu noodles? I've not heard of them.. sorry if you mentioned them already.. too many msgs to read through!

I have cheese/peanut butter cravings more often than sweet cravings :(.. Luckily I seem to be getting better at resisting pizzas and quiches and the like than I was before.. For e.g. we had pizza for dinner last night and I counted calories and managed to limit myself to 2 slices (unheard of! ) And peanut butter - well, even if I count calories - I seem to gain weight the very next day. Maybe I have a mild allergy to something in it.. So , I love the taste - but I know I'll be heavier the next day. So, its been a while since I tasted peanut butter..

I still stare it long enough on the grocery aisle though :D...
I bought a new scale...and I weigh more on it.....BOOO!!!!

But, I did just step on in the pm not am as usual....will keep you all updated...

Thanks for the protien ideas everyone!!! The boca burgers sound great and I am making chicken now to take with me to work for lunch. I am writing a list of all the suggestions...you guys rock!

Carabo: Okay this sounds crazy...don't know if you have heard of it but there is powder peanut butter that is less calories. I haven't tried it but here is the link to the forum: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/2820 8.html

Just thought it sounded ummm interesting...haha.

I worked out today and never really got into it. I usually feel good during it but I felt bored I guess. So I need more advice: what are some good workout tapes?[I have taebo and the core rhythms (dancing) dvds]
Man, I wasn't able to get on line today..... amazing how much goes on.

I also didn't know you could go back and look, duh!!!!

unicat - yes they did enjoy the rest of their honeymoon, they had some really amazing pictures.  I guess she ran to the balcony of the hotel to see if there was a wave coming, my son-in-law was yelling at her to get away from the window.  She was hilarious!!!

Congrats to all that have lost or maintained.  I will have to try the jello thing too, I have one huge sweet tooth.

Off to work out!!!
Hey Pretty, dont let it bother you- if it does stay up even in the am... I'm suffering a new scale too :D.. Somehow I feel inclined to disbelieve higher readings on it :D.. Self- protective instinct ?

The PB powder does sound good..Hmm..I dont like ordering on the internet though.. Maybe it will appear on the grocery aisle soon ? I'm also afraid to spend and not be able to eat it - since PB messes my diet. *sigh* Anyway, I'm thinking of dumping skippy's cause it has hydrogenated fat...

I tried this new thing on the treadmill today- saw someone do it on TV yesterday .. At an incline of 10- 15 and a constant speed I tried running sideways for a minute on each side. It was tiring!! Done for 20 minutes this was an extremely time-efficient exercise to break a sweat.

Ok- you have to hold on to the treadmill with one or both hands when running sideways - to stabilise yourself. I think the objective is to exercise the outer and inner muscles of the thigh (i.e. muscles other than the quads and the hamstrings.)

Do I have to weigh myself?

You do not have to weigh yourself to use Calorie Count. A weight check can be a reminder of negative judgments you make on yourself... Read more
