Woohoo Chris 20 pounds!!!! And that's just in the past 6 weeks...WOW!!! Now that's the way to keep us going cap'n. heeehee
I'm gonna cost myself 100 points a day with my oatmeal. I put in a teaspoon of sugar. I can't get myself to use artificial sweeteners on that. Thank goodness I've already been switched to a sugar free coffee cream/flavoring. That's it for sugar for me!! Co

AND...WOOHOO, we won again!!! WOOFREAKINHOOO!! :)
we only won teh challenge part, not overall points :( but it's still soemthing!
We still get some bragging rights...heeeheeee!!
Ok... just a quick clarification... so if we're looking at the ingredients list of somehthing and it lists sugar already in it... that's still a no-no right??
i think only if it's a sweet treat. like a soda w/ sugar in it (diet coke would be okay b/c it's not sweetened w/ sugar). so if you ate cake you would lose points. i dont know if things that arent sweets count or not
Yeah, that's sort of what I'm thinking too. I'm thinking for example things like some spaghetti sauces might have sugar listed in its ingredients but I doubt they mean something like that could be classified as a sweet. At least I hope not!
CONGRATS H4L'S you win again fierce competitors!!!!! awesome job!!!!!!
YAY, I love ya guys!! way to win the crunches!!!!
i think we are still kicking but in overall points!! Ill update the top of our thread, as soon as i am done poting this!!
No sweets piece of cake (hehe) i eat sugar free EVERYTHING!!

K... I'll go with that... makes it a lot easier than scanning even non-sweet things for sugar!!! Another question though... lol! I usually eat vanilla almond special k for breakfast... technically that's sweet right? Even though it's a healthy whole grain thing? (I'll miss my Special K for a week :( .)

The idea of no sweets week is to get us to find ways of satisfying our sweet tooth in other ways that are more healthy. like instead of using brown sugar on oatmeal try fruit that is naturaly sweet. Not eating cereals that are sugar coated like frosted flakes. I don't think spagettie sauce that has sugar will cause you to lose points there is not enough in it. Megon can give the final word on that. this challende will also make us aware of what we are eating that has sugar in it that we might not of thought of. hope this helps

good morning! i'm excited and sad all at the same time right now. I just talked to the b/f who is headed ot the airport ot come home! yippeeee!!! but the downside is that I won't get to talk to him until tomorrow morning! that sucks! but i'll be pickin him up from the airport at 11:30 tomorrow and i can't wait!
YAY CHRIS!!! I came over from Team 5 to wish you a congratulations! WOO HOO...
Val: I LOVE SPLENDA in my oatmeal... have you tried it? To me, it is so much sweeter than sugar and the benefits... NO CALS and NO bad sugar.... Try it once... you will definately be hooked. I usually get the premeasured packets and use 3 (1 tablespoon) for my oatmeal.
Oh and if you look at the ingredients of a certain food you are unsure of and the first ingredient says "High Fructose Corn Syrup" then it is a sugared food. The highest amount of something is placed first and decreases from there. If high fructose corn syrup is listed last, chances are it has very small amounts and you really shouldn't worry about it. Try a comparison of twinkies ingredients and a whole grain granola bar... or a regular bagel and a whole grain bagel....
Thought that would help with the clarity of foods!
GOOD LUCK ON THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE! Ya'll ROCK!

No Sugar Challenge
No sugar period.
nothing that already has sugar... no adding sugar!!
The point is to try new ways to sweeten your treats.. new artificial sweeteners or substitutes.
Everyone starts with 1500 points... everytime you have ANY sugar you take away 100 points...

Doesn't the sugar substitute have that funny aftertaste though. I know the sugar free french vanilla coffee creamer I use has sugar substitute in it and has that funny taste to it. I try to ignore it but I've been drinking it for a few/couple months now and I am still not to the point where I don't taste it. I just ignore it at this point though. Lol I tried eating my oatmeal w/raisins and I can't say YUK fast enough. Lol That was my mom's suggestion. Thanks mom, but no thanks! ;)
Don-ARE YOU BACK!?!?!?!? (he usually hears my shoutouts)
Don-ARE YOU BACK!?!?!?!? (he usually hears my shoutouts)
ok so i'm eating special k and it has sugar so i lose points? there's no way i can substitute the sugar in the cereal! and cereal isn't a treat so I guess I'm confused on teh point of this challenge. so then we can't eat fruit either b/c it already has sugar in it? i'm just tryin to get some clarificatino and i'm not finding it. anyone?
I sent the Slims the same email...especially about the fruit. The above posts from Sleepy and Megon are the responses. I am sticking with my original thoughts that fruit is not counted toward losing points. I'm also going to assume, unless it's a sweetened cereal or a cereal that your adding sugar to (my oatmeal) then all others don't count. Like Special K, the plain flavor is probably a no (so long as you don't add sugar), it doesn't get counted against you. On the other hand Trvlta's vanilla flavored...I'm not sure but I think it would get counted against her. Unless that vanilla flavoring is sweet using artificial sweeteners. I'm not going to sweat it because that means I'll lose 500 for this week because that's the only thing I add sugar to. I don't always eat my oatmeal on the weekend so Saturday I just won't eat my oatmeal, I'll eat something else.
