Thank you :)
Welcome back, glaserpu! I love the dress!
So my weigh in:
Starting weight: 129
Last week: 124.5
Today: 123.5
I haven't been exercising because my legs are still a little sore from walking so much over the weekend, though that's probably just an excuse lol. Happy Wednesday everybody!
Welcome...
Morisht- Keep up the good work...congrats on the grad. dress fitting! :D
Glaserpu - First I wanted to say, the puppy in your default pic. is ADORABLE! :D
So, welcome back! Cheers to you breaking the 'all or nothing' cycle. :D I think I'm like that too and have to continuously work at it. Though it CAN be done....these ladies in this group are proof that one can get healthy and in shape! :D
Also, love the bridemaids dress! :D Would love to see progress.....I think sometimes that photos can be great motivators. :D
Have a great day!! :D

Last Week 138.6
This week 138.4
Got what i expected on the scale, i've been sick, so i haven't exercised as much, and Easter i was bad, ate a little much. I'm glad I didn't gain though, but it's time to get down to business now. Wedding and summer is coming soon
Hi everyone!! Wow, the weather is awesome in my neck o' the woods today. I think I'll go on a walk later and try to de-stress (phone interview this morning for a program I really want to get into...I think it went okay! But now I have to find someone on my campus to proctor an online test -- and it's spring break! I wonder who's still around. I need to take it ASAP...argh).
Melissa - Getting sick is always a frustrating setback...hope you're feeling better and getting energy back so that you can start exercising again!
glaserpu - That really is a great bridesmaid dress! Do share pictures of you in it later...I'm kind of jealous because I've never been in a wedding. Then again, it is rather nice not having glaring reminders of one's singleness...hehehehe.
Jen - I'm glad you spotted a few muscles on my back, because the longer I looked at that picture, the more I thought it all just looked like blobs of flab. Maybe I need to study some human anatomy... (said the liberal arts girl)
(ps- excellent "justification"...haha. But hopefully there's some truth to it, because that's what I'm clinging to after my not-so-healthy-afterall weekend! Have a fabulous time on your birthday!)
Soooo...it's scale time. And the result is...135. And my response is, "Duuuuude, how is that possible?" hahahaha. So it turns out I'm down 1-1.5lb from last week. With the unexpected arrival of expensive chocolate truffles on Saturday from my supposedly health-conscious mother and the fact that it's my TOTM, I must say that fine little number is completely undeserved. But I'll take it.
Have a wonderful day, ladies!!!
Happy Hump Day Ladies! I regret to inform you that I will not be participating in this weeks weigh in. I have had a bronchial infection for the past three weeks now and the stubborn person that I am I kept going to the gym because I was so excited about my results (weight loss, muscle definition, etc). Well, that didn't make my doctor too happy and she DEMANDED that I take a few days off from the gym, so.....I haven't been since Sunday (3 days off should be good right???) and therefore haven't weighed myself since Sunday. But I am happy to report that on Sunday I weighed in at 125.7 (down from 127.3 last week)- whoo hoo! I am sure that I have gained a little since then, due to lack of physical activity, increase in calories (comfort foods :(), and my monthly visitor. But nonetheless, I feel almost 100% better and plan to get back on track tomorrow....
Jen - I like your "justification". I am leaning towards the same idea with my eating of comfort foods when I was sick :) Congrats on getting your 4-pack back!! Question - how the heck do you get those bottom abs to have definition?? I also recently have seen my 4-pack re-emerge, but can't seem to get any definition on the lower abs. Any suggestions of particular exercises?
New Ladies to the Forum - WELCOME! This is a great place to share ideas, get encouragement and learn quite a few things about health and fitness. I joined this forum back in Jan 08 at 130 lbs. I was very frustrated because I seemed to be at this weight forever and couldn't get my weight to even budge towards my 125 lbs goal. Just from the daily motivation from these ladies and incorporating their ideas/suggestions into my daily diet and workouts I finally started to see the scale dropping!!! I am so happy I joined this group and I swear that this forum is the reason I am so close to my goal!!!
IMO a good lower ab workout is bicycle kicks, where I lie on my back, while cycling legs and doing crunches til I feel like barfing.
My very fav, though, are weighted leg lifts. For this I sit on the edge of a bench, put a 7# weight between my ankles. Then I lie back and grip the bench with my hands above my head and proceed to raise and lower my weighted straight legs, while drawing my abs in towards my spine. Very exhausting with no resting at the bottom. I go from straight plank position to about 75 degrees and can only complete a few sets of 10 reps or so.
Another good one is leg lifts with a patner (this is best for a burnout, after you have already done weighted abs). For this you lie down and grip your partner's ankles (they are standing). You then do leg lifts, each time you reach the top though your partners job is to push your legs down (straight down and to each side) your job is the resist the push. These are kinda fun b/c you can talk a lot of smack while while doing them. Then you get to trade places and seek revenge!
Hey all, I had a revelation yesterday after using the tracking tools on this site. Although I often use this site to look up how many calories are in something, I never logged stuff. I was pretty good about doing the math in my head. Well, I decided to log everything I ate yesterday. I'm happy to say that my math was right on target, but I was surprised by the fiber count. I always read these articles about how it's recommend that women get 25 grams of fiber a day, but most people don't even get 10, bla bla bla. I assumed I was in the same boat because I don't eat a whole lot of vegetables and have even considered taking a fiber supplement regularly. Well, according to the analysis, yesterday I ate 40 grams of fiber. Wow! That's way more than I thought! Yeah, I eat whole grain everything, but I never thought I was getting anywhere near that much daily fiber.
And although I'm sure you'd rather not know, I'm very 'regular' ![]()
thank you everyone for the welcome. I'm sure to stay on track with this forum. However, I did have some trail mix this morning, another weekness, seems healthly but way too many calories. I don't understand the people on this site that say they can't eat enough to get up to certain number of calories, have a handful of trailmix and it's like 300-500 calories!! oh well, I never have trouble eating all my calories.. which brings me to a question, since we're all about the same size how many calories do you eat on average a day? I try to stay around 1400-1450.
and thank you smiles1979, that's our puppy Bernie, he's cute but a handful. I should update the picture, that's when we first got him 4 months ago, he's now 35 lbs!! We got him at a shelter so we don't know his breed.. just a nicely mixed mutt.
Hi everyone! I just joined CC and I'd lve to be a part of this group! I havent read through all of the pages (too many!) so tell me if I'm doing something wrong...
Basic info:
Age: 19
Height: 5'7
Starting weight: 135
Last time i weighed myself (probably a week ago, but I'll be weighing again tomorrow prob.) 132.6
I was sick all last week, so i didnt go to the gym...at all. =(
Im still recovering this week, but better, so I've been twice this week, in addition to the 45 minutes of walking I do each day at school...TRYING to eat better...I usually stay with in a 1200 calorie limit but Its taken me since the end of September to lose those 2 and a half pounds! So, I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong...hence why I'm here! =)
To answer glaserpu's question, I eat about 1400 calories as well.
blacknedwings, I'm not sure what your goal weight is, but you can only lose about 10 more pounds and still be within a healthy weight. Therefore, your body is going to hold onto the weight as hard as it possibly can, it doesn't want to lose it. It's just going to be a slow process because you're already thin.
My goal weight is 125 but...I'm not overly optimistic of that happening. I'm not willing to cut out certain things i really like. (Candy or eating out once in a while). Mostly, I'm at the point I'd really just like to start toning. I've heard that before and I'm starting to believe it-that my body is comfortable at this weight and thats why it's not really going to budge much more.
Happy Thursday everyone! I'm late for weigh ins...went camping Tuesday night....anyhow, here I go...
Started 4/25/2007 - 148 lbs
Last Week - 134.3
This week - 131.9
My new short term goal is 120-125 steadily by June 22, 2008.
Down 2.4# but still not ecstatic. Then again I ate hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks during our camping trip....hopefully next week I'll show another loss. Since we camped at the beach pictures were taken, and I am happy to report I wasn't totally unhappy with how I looked in my bikini. So I think the workouts are actually making some type of muscle definition. :) I keep telling myself to not worry about the scale as long as I'm seeing results. It's still so hard to not seek that magic number. I'll post pics a bit later if I'm feeling brave! haha....haven't been working out much with the kids still on spring break...at least I've been keeping busy running around and doing outdoor activities with them. I'll squeeze in a stationary bike ride today, and hopefully weights tomorrow. Then Monday back to the routine....
I used to eat around 1100, but these past two weeks I've been going between 1200 and 1400, with three 1600-1800 days (it could be more, I don't really count that well on those days...) This month saw a lot of birthday dinners, tonight's one too :D
Hi all! :D
Wonderswhy...I think that back pic. of you is great and you ARE doing well I think....just have to try and not indulge too much with those truffles..hehe. My mom is pretty health conscience too, but she never seems to mind bringing home sweets for everyone else to eat! *grr..hehe* Basically, I'm trying to say, I hear ya...keep up the great work!
Jennifer- Still great job...even with your being sick...feel better soon!! :D
Jen - Nice info. on the lower abs, etc. exercises. :D I tried to partner leg lifts w/ my personal trainer before, but it hurt my lower back too much...so I found other ways...
Like sitting down with legs up in the air and reaching hands up to feet/toes, or alternating the reach to each foot or using a medicine ball to reach to feet/toes. It's a good workout...I just have to remember that myself and continue to practice those moves. :D
Kathleen - I like the pic. you have posted. :D Nice one! :D
Glaserpu - hehe..your welcome for the cute puppy comment. :D He is just sooo cuddly looking in that pic. :D Yes, I'd love to see updated pics. of your pup. :D
Blackned Wings - Welcome! :D I'd agree...up your calories a little more than 1200 if you are working out so that your body doesn't go into starvation mode. Weight loss...esp. when you don't have more than 10-15 lbs. to lose I think...it's much harder to lose weight b/c you're already smaller.... Though keep up with your goals! We look forward to supporting you in your progress..no matter how long it takes. :D You CAN succeed...this group is proof! :D
Burnyh - Great beach/bikini pic. :D Makes me wish I could look as good in one of those right now..hehe.. Thanks for the motivation! :D Cheers to working on well..working off..your camp treats...:D
Sauciedj - Good luck with the moderation at the b-day dinner! :D
As for me and my daily intake...hmm...honestly, I'm not sure....I haven't been tracking what I eat these last few weeks.....but I'm sure it's at least 1400.
Anyway...enjoy the rest of your Thursday ladies!
:D

Whoo hoo - I ran three miles in 29 mins without stopping today!!
Jen- thanks for the advice on lower abs, I like the one you suggested with laying on bench and leg lifting w/ weight between ankles - i'll try :)
glaserpu - i eat around 1500-1600 cals a day on average
burnyh - congrats on your weight loss, I am sure you can reach your goal by June - post some of those bikini pics so we can see your progress!
Oh, im so glad im not the only one!!! I am not fat by any means (5'5, 131lbs) and i know i have nothing to complain about...I used to be 175lbs. I have kept that weight off for 5 years now, but i WANT to be 125, and can never seem to get there. If i dip into the "120's" its 128-129 for a day or two! LOL.
Gals, I'm kind of sad now. I weighed myself this morning and I weighed 129. I've been sticking with my diet and exercising. I'm pretty sure that it's just water weight because I feel very bloated and my BF% has gone down even though the scale has gone up 2.5lbs. Even though I can be logical about this, it's just kind of upsetting... I've been working hard, I want to see the scale go down, not up! I guess I just have to keep on keeping on.
jen- the birthday trip to the beach with bonfire sounds marvelous! have a v. happy birthday!
glaserpu- love the bridesmaid's dress. that was actually one i was thinking of getting myself for my sister's wedding! what color are you getting? i was thinking apple (she's doing fall colors.)
can you ladies believe it's friday already!? my sister, jen & kayla are coming down from green bay to take kayla to see Wicked (lucky!). i have to do a mad dash to clean the house after the gym, i think they may already be here by then, oh well.
124.6 today.
Happy Friday ladies!
mrseric17and kathleen - Keep your outlooks positive...you can do this...and are doing great! This thing called 'losing weight' is a daily battle....for a lot of us anyway....so you must do your best to shrug off those negative emotions/thoughts. It's not going to be 100% happy go lucky everyday, I know that. I'm not like that myself...but I'm trying to help you keep your spirits up! :D
You CAN do this....just one day at a time...yes, keep on keeping on..as Kathleen said.
For one, be lucky, that it isn't stillll SNOWING where you are..haha..I'm in North Central Mass. and today, on this Friday, March 28th!!!, there is a whole lotta snow coming down from that supposed-to-be-Spring sky!! haha.
Though, I too have been feeling down lately, but try to keep myself going. Little things that try to motivate me are things that I experience that I try to make myself remember when I want to hord all those sweets. haha. (Keep with the moderation).
Example: though I feel it's embarassing, yesterday in my Pilates class our instructer had us do leg lifts with rubber elastic bands around our thighs...ok, if THAT wasn't a bit of a wake up call for me, I don't know what is...seeing those thighs..just made me think...WHAT!? haha. If I thought I was doing well with my weight/exercise routine when I am standing up straight or in my jeans, that's one thing, but to do an exercise like that and then see my body in a different way, helps remind me that I have a long way to go!
ANYWAY....have a great day all! You must keep it up and you can....for your own sakes. :D
Ttyl.

hbbroadbent- she picked the victorian lilac, not my first choice but her colors are lilac and silver. it's the more muted lilac not the bright version, I think I'll be able to where it again, possibly alter it into a knee length dress.
I forgot to chime in on the supplements conversation, I take a multi everyday but I also take Hair, Skin & Nails vitamins (get them at CVS in pink box) It's mostly Biotin which is good for your nails. But I see the effects in my hair and skin as well. My nails are awful and I can tell a big difference when I'm taking the vitamins and when I'm not.
Have a great weekend!!
