Hey everyone. Rebepi, I am so sorry that you are in so much pain.  I hope and pray that a resolution comes quickly for you.

Didn't do much today.  Nursed my migrain and dispensed nebulizer tratments to my 15 month old.  I had a 2 lb weight gain this morning from being TTOTM and all....so not in the best of spirits today....but as Scarlett O'Hara says "Tommorrow is another day!"

#1042 rebepi Oct 23 2007 17:47
I'm totally blaming TTOM for my stall out right now. Which is fine, because I'm not lying about having it. haha. Ever since I stopped taking birth control, I've been getting terrible cramps. I thought this was a bit strange as I never had them before I started taking the pill... hmm... oh well. I'm not nearly as emotional as I was on the pill. You win some, you lose some. =)

I'm feeling much better today. I got some good sleep last night and I only have a half day at work today. (I just got here!)

Pam, I'm glad to hear that you got yourself back on track. That's wonderfull.

Mandango, Thank you so much for your kind thoughts.

Hi Everyone.  Can I join your group?  I am 27 and weigh 301 pounds right now.  I have fluctuated over the past few months from my heaviest at 315 to my lowest at 289.  I'm not sure what my ultimate goal is, but I know that I do need to lose weight.  I have a hard time though because my appetite is insane.  I think it is at least paritally due to having PCOS.  Also, it could be due to stress and emotional eating since I live in a stressful and sometimes chaotic environment.  I really haven't been eating too much food, but I also don't eat the right kinds of food either.  I don't drink water much and I am addicted to soda.  I know that is bad for me, but I haven't changed.  I can only handle one problem at a time and right now another one has priority.  Anyway, I thought I would join you all and try to get and give as much motivation as possible.

Welcome Doorfy!

Just yesterday one of my vendors told me his doctor suggested the quickest way for him to take off a few pounds was to give up the soda (Pepsi, in his case) In just six weeks he lost 14 lbs by just doing that! Certainly that should inspire you!

This weight loss thing is a process...one thing at a time, one day at a time, and ongoing, infinite, not just a quick fix!

We're glad you're here!

Good morning all!! And welcome doorfry!!! I think I've seen you around on other forums as well.

How is everyone's week going so far? I figure, we're almost half way through it. =) Anyway, this morning hasn't been a great morning for me, but at least I've been eating well. (For the most part at least)

So I found this to be a bit strange. I never really thought about how much food I put on my plate when we're at a buffet style dinner and I really didn't think about it last night either (bf's graduation). But as I was eating, I was getting more and more full and I have no idea why I didn't just stop. I was sooo full by the time I finished. I felt sick and really guilty. I don't believe I went over my calories yesterday because I was low for the rest of the day. But here's my thing, I used to eat that much all the time and I guess my eyes are now WAY to big for my stomach. How do I stop that?? Any suggestions?
#1047 krismasself Oct 24 2007 15:37

Awareness is the first step, and you experinced that last night! M

My little trick for buffets is to imagine my plate having 4 sections. I carefully choose what goes into each section, only four selections, and no second trips! Not that I don't still overeat to uncomfortable fullness sometimes, as I can load a lot onto a plate, but it does help me limit.

Somewhere I found a great tool for determining "portion size" - like 3 oz of meat =1 deck of cards, one cup of veggies = a baseball. Anyone know where to find that list again?

Rebecca - if the buffet restaurant has a smaller plate, like a salad plate, ask for that and then you will be less likely to over eat.

Hi

I'm trying to lose half of me! I'm 5'3", I started in July at 249 lbs, and currently at 231, ideally would like to get to 125 (that's the high end of a healthy BMI for my height) by November 2009. Ultimately I would like to be 105 (the low end of a helathy BMI for my height) by November 2010, but would be happy at a more toned 110-115.

I think what is keeping me somewhat motivated right now is that I know I didn't gain it over night, so I can't really expect to lose it that way.

So far I have cut out soda and fast food from my diet. I try to balance my meals and stay under my target calories for the day. Seems to be working.

Good Luck to All of You! Try to remember that one day does not define your diet, so if you slip up, just get back on track the next day. That's my attitude anyway.

Also, curious how many of us are married to or in a relationship with somebody who can eat whatever they want?

I'm starting a "challenge" support group in the weightloss forum and I would love for you guys to come and hang out with me. haha =)

It's hopefully going to be an ongoing thread so I can keep track of everyone's losses and run challenges inside the group. Hopefully someone's interested. =)

I'm sorry I have not been around. I guess I have been a bad weight loss buddy. Well I am glad to hear everyone doing so good.

Did anyone watch the biggest loser last night? Is that weight gain even possible? I was so angry watching that.
#1053 krismasself Oct 24 2007 16:22

skinnyseoul, I was married to one of those for 30 yrs, and finally gave up using his poor eating habits as an excuse for my own!

My soon-to-be DH has "food issues" too, but I'm not sure if this makes it easier or harder for me. I have to keep reminding myself that  only I am responsible for ME and my own healthy program!

I'm doing well this week! I have finally decided to get back on track after all the craziness of my wedding, and I did really well Monday and Tuesday. I exercised both days and tracked everything I ate all day very carefully, which I'm just getting back into. I get bored with exercises easily, so I am trying to find what will work for me on a daily basis - changing it up, every single day, might be the answer. But that takes a lot of creativity!

Skinnyseoul, I know what you mean - my husband eats pretty terrible foods all the time. He has never touched fruits or veggies - just carbs and meats! I'm grateful he takes a vitamin every day. His parents never forced him to try new foods growing up, so he's accustomed to eating a very short list of foods and nothing else. And they're not particularly healthy foods at all - cookies, chips, burgers, and tacos. He has gained about 15-20 pounds since he graduated college two years ago, though, so he's starting to think a little more about it, but we're starting from page one. Our groceries are entirely separate!

#1055 humorpam Oct 24 2007 17:04
Tina - I saw that, but I didn't turn it on until right after that horrible weigh-in. So, please tell me, what was the strategy that Neil was using? Why would gaining 17 pounds help him? What was his thinking? I know he admitted to throwing the weigh-in to help his chances, but I don't understand what his thinking was about that. Can you help me understand? I, too, was disgusted with him, though. And I would think that you could certainly gain that much. If you down 2 gallons of water right before weigh-in and then don't go to the bathroom, then your weight will be up by at least 16.5 pounds.
#1056 trapp32 Oct 24 2007 17:24
His reasoning was that if he put himself in danger then the other blue teammates would not vote him off and then they would not lose one of there teammates. At one point he made the statement that it was a understanding between teammates that this would happen. And it worked. I just thought it was a dirty trick. But I guess that is what the game is about.

This week has been extraordinarily long so far. I haven't been around here nearly as much either.

I'm tired. But I have a Halloween party tomorrow night that I'm pretty excited about. Anyone else dressing up??

Kim, Doorfry and Skinnyseoul Welcome to our wonderful group here glad to have you here with us.I'm doing good I have my good weeks and once in a while my not so good weeks but when you look at the bigger picture I'm losing and thats what really counts some months may be more then others but thats ok as long as I keep losing and get back on the wagon when I fall off and I plan to keep getting back on tell I reach my goal.

Rebepi, I went to a buffet/play yesterday with my Mom and I did really well I had enough to taste everything that I wanted but didnt go over board on the portion sizes and did not go back for 2nds either and left feeling good not full and I also brought my own 100 cal snack for the play

Kris what cutie pies you have for grandkids

Well I am having a great week I have worked out everyday so far this week and really watched what I ate it feels good to be back on track again. I hope everyone is having a great week also.
