Good evening Gals! I'm rarely online in the evening, but tonight I'm staying out of the man's way...he's preparing for a test in the morning! Since I had an appointment after work, and wasn't fixing dinner at home. I decided to take myself to Panera Bread for dinner. I got onto their website to check out selections and calories, and thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Then I went to the Mall to walk. As I walked, a nice lady asked if she could join me as she needed inspiration! What a nice compliment! And so nice to have pleasant company to share weight loss stories with! It is nice to have the DH want to share exercise, or any time, isn't it? Our lives are just so busy these days, it's a wonder we find time for stuff like healthy eating and exercise! But think about what life wouldn't be if we continually neglected ourselves!! |

WOW I can't believe how busy this forum has been lately, that is wonderful! I have walked a few times this week but have not been that great about eating right. I just got in this mood where I didnt care, got tried of watching everything that goes in. So I quite caring. anyone else feel like that? I wont even get on the scale today and I'll try to do better this coming week. Have a great weekend everyone. |

Sure, sara, we all have times like that. The secret to success is to not let those moments turn into months! I didn't really want to get on the scale this AM, as I haven't had the best week due to my cold. Or at least, that's what my perfectionist brain told me. Well, I made a commitment to weigh every Friday AM, so on the scale I got...and Surprise! I actually lost 1 lb!! Moral of the story? Even if I'm not perfect, I can do it well enough, with the encouragement and support of fellow losers!! |

| I've had a few days like that. I try to be kind to myself and not give into the guilt trap and promise myself that I will do better tommorrow. I also make sure to either plan out my course of meals for the next day and/ or track every single calorie that goes into my mouth. My OWID is Monday morning. It helps me to behave on weekends. | ||

I definitely had a few days this week that I really really wanted to cheat. But I can't handle having another gall bladder attack right now. (stupid useless organ!) I guess it stopped me from eating french fries or chips or something else super salty and super terrible for me. But I really wanted them. =) Instead I ate an apple and moped about for a while. ( 5 weeks and 4 days until I get to meet with the surgeon and see what she thinks I should do).
I'm really stressed out right now. Between school and work, I've been beyond freaking out. I have to pick classes for next semester soon and my problem is that I have to take a morning class.. which means I can't really feasibly keep my full time job. If I go part time, I lose my health insurance and it's illegal in Massachusetts to not have health insurance now. I have no idea what to do. =( AND I have to get the useless organ taken out before they drop me from the plan. *sigh* Alright. *positive thoughts, positive thoughts*. A year and a half and I'm done with all of this. Or about 10 months if I decide to start a job sooner than I finish my licensure... another stressful though. OK OK. It's warm and it's October. I have plans tonight and I'm getting awesome healthy subway for dinner. Life is good. Life is good. =) |

| The gallbladder isn't really a useless organ. It works as part of the bodies filtration system. I had a friend who had gall bladder surgery. She had it removed without looking into alternative measure and/ or a second opinion. Turns out she could have done a gall bladder cleanse and changed her diet and probably would have been better off. Since having her gall bladder removed she now has liver problems. (GB filters the liver....liver filters the whole body) I hope you don't have to go through what she is going through. | ||

| That's really good information Mandy. Thanks for sharing that. I never knew what the gall bladder is for. I had to have my spleen removed, because it was causing my platelets to be critically low, and that was the only way that they could reverse that problem. So, what is the spleen for? I know I now have to make sure that I get the flu and pneumonia shots each year. That's all I know. | ||

The gall bladder's main function is to aid in the break down of fats in your blood and digestion. The bile in gall bladder is primarily for this purpose. It aids the liver but the liver can function on its own with out it. The main cause of gall bladder attacks is the gall stones that are formed. These stones block the ducts and injure the liver. Cleansing the gall bladder and liver is simply a way of flushing the gull stones out. Not that pleasant if you consider it causes extreme diarrhea for days. This does not eliminate stones from reforming. Cleansing must be done on a regular bases sometimes monthly. Gall bladder removal will eliminate stones and pain but causes problems in digestion if to much fats are eaten Causing diarrhea and acid reflux. The Spleen aids in reducing infections in the body especially the lungs and internal organs and bacterial infections. It replenishes the blood and act as a reservoir in case of a emergency supplying extra blood. Removing this will suppress the immune system. This causes you to be more susceptible to diseases The appendix is truly the most useless organ and they really do not know it’s function. They think it has something to do with increasing good germs in the digestive track. The tonsils are a close second especial after the age of 4 or 5 when they no longer function as filters for diseases You asked Lora |

Lora, I couldn't have explained it better! Do you have some medical background too? I know doctors use the term " 3 F's" syndrome for gall bladder disorder: Fat, Female and Forty! One other note on gall bladders: my daughter-in-law got sever pancreatitis because of a blocked bile duct (from gall bladder to intestine). They attempted to open the duct by going down the esophagus through the stomach, and she "crashed"!!! A code Blue episode! So scarry!!...she was only 40 and had a 3 yr old at home!! Thank the Lord, she recovered, had the gall bladder removed a few weeks later, and has been fine since. So do take care of that GB, Rebecca! |

I know a thing or two. I also Yes it isn't something to mess around with for too long is it. All surgery is "scary enough without something going wrong. Glad the outcome was a happy ending. The good news is it becomes less invasive all the time. Lora |

Thanks guys for all your information. I just really need this thing taken out. It's making me truly sick. I had a terrible attack last night and even vicodin couldn't kill the pain. And now I feel like throwing up because the pain pills are still running through my system. I hate pain pills.
I also hate that all these surgeons have a 3 month wait list. On a better note, I am officially at my "half-way" point as of this morning. =) (55.5 lbs left!) |

Hello rebepi Please call the surgeon on a daily basis to see if they can get you in. Sometimes they get a cancellation. My husband went through what you are going through. They missed the cause for 3 months and when they finally sent him to the surgeon, the surgeon sent him straight from his office to the hospital and he had the surgery within 2 hours after. Please don't be afraid of having the surgery, my husband felt like a new person after it was over. I wish you well. Kim |

| Hi Kimmy! Welcome to CC, and to this group. I hope you stick around and enjoy the fellowship here. Let us know how we can help you, OK? You asked how I am doing. If you are speaking of my weight loss journey, it got sidetracked for a short while, but I am back on track, making good choices again, so even though I gained about 14 pounds back, I have now lost 7 of that again. My total weight loss is 36 pounds now. It was 43 pounds. Other than dietary, I am doing about the same physically, and mentally, I am doing well, because God is my strength and the source of my joy. He is worthy to be praised! I am glad that you have chosen to visit with us today, and look forward to you being a regular here. Take care! | ||
