| Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds | ||
| Jan 28 2008 19:41 | ||
| Hi, my name is Suzanne and I am 23 years old. I weigh 258.3 pounds(yikes) and would really like to get down to between 140 and 150. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in their 20's who has about that much they want to lose. We could work together and stay motivated to reach our goals!!! Also, if there is anyone in their 20's who has lost that much and wants to share their success story, I would love to hear it! Thanks! | ||

feddiechick- OMG go!! I would love to find an excuse to pull on a formal dress and go all out. Last time we went to a wedding my hubby had to remind me I was a guest not the bride. niehma- first of all welcome, I hope you find the support here that the rest of us have. Remember to always look at the positives in your life instead of dwelling on the negatives. You have 3 children which in it's self is a huge blessing, you have 2 jobs in these uncertain times when many people are unemployed and , as my brother who is deployed over seas constantly reminds me , we are loosing weight from over eating yummy delicious food when we could be starving!! So no I am not trying to be preachy but smile and when you are at the gym all by your lonesome concentrate on thinking about all the wonderful things you have and all the even better things you will have with your improved health and better body. I seriously do that , it's super cheesy I know, but while I am on the treadmill super bored I think off all the great clothes I am going to shop for etc , hey it helps me focus and before I know it my hour on the treadmill is over. sroscoe - great quote! you have put into words what I feel but isn't so easily expressed. I feel like all my weight is emotional baggage I carry around and as I shed it sometimes it's very scary to let it go and even though that is the ultimate goal I feel very anxious at times and I am not even sure why... Allydan - woo hoo!!! Congrats!! I am telling y'all we are going to have to relabel this thread soon. + congrats to all the other ladies that continue loosing and to echo sonini thanks to every one and I mean every one here because even if I don't always single you out I do read everyone's posts and this entire thread provides the motivation that I have been unable to find anywhere else!!!! |

watchme: you're numbers are correct... and I also divide that number by 6 so I only have to count for 10 seconds instead of 60... unless you have a heart rate monitor. danibelle is correct when she says that up to 85% is aerobic activity, but personally i tend to keep it around 70-75% so I can burn as much fat as possible. Sometimes that means slowing down for a moment to keep it in that range...unless of course I'm going for an all out, as fast as I can. :) Also, great advice about PCOS! Since being diagnosed I have figured most of that out on my own, but it sure would have been nice if someone would have explained that in the beginning! My doc spent 5 minutes with me and that was that. Hope you all are having a great day and are feeling fabulous! |

Hey, Thanks for the great info, watchme. Fortunately, I had a very sensitive GYN/Endocrinologist (possibly owing to the fact that she herself was overweight and had PCOS), who helped me realize what I need to be eating (whether I stuck to that or not is another story). She put me on Metformin as well, but I had such bad stomach pain that I stopped taking it. Instead, she put me on Yasmin (BCP) and it has been wonderful--decreased facial hair, testosterone down to normal levels, etc. etc. Plus, I KNOW that I can lose weight on Yasmin--in 2004 I lost 30 pounds with little effort, and whenever I get motivated enough, I am able to lose. It seems that only this time around am I having trouble! I think I will give it 2-3 more weeks (I especially want to see what happens once I get my period), and if I REALLY am seeing no results, I guess I will pay a visit to a doctor... I really hope that I see some good news soon--I'm currently taking a course in endocrinology, and succumbing to "medical student syndrome"--every hormonal disorder we learn about, I am sure I have! |

Uy! I am always behind! I was 90% caught up, but then POOF! My post disappeared. So now I will start by re-saying what I said already, if I can remember it all! Bear with me girls! dalmalama: Maybe if you would have had the chance to run your dad over, you could have a better relationship now? He hurt you, you get him back, it’s all good? Just kidding! I probably would have failed science classes too, but I always did well on the tests, just not the lab work or whatever. That’s why I couldn’t be a doctor of any sort! Dalma a good place for black tie gowns is Alfred angelo. They aren’t too expensive either. Also, when my mom got married, I ordered her gown online from this website, I will have to remember which it is, and it was fabulous and less than 150! bootser1: My mom always tried to control me when I was younger, but now that I am older, we have a much better uncontrolling relationship. I hope you get a better relationship with your mom one day soon! It's terrible and sad that she said she had a better relationship with your sister, but I am glad you have your husband to turn to. Speaking of this being a lifestyle change, I spoke to my grandma the other day. She said to me that I shouldn’t go to Easter dinner at my husbands parents house because I shouldn’t eat anything and ruin my diet. She told me that scalloped potatoes will go right to my already heavy legs. I told her I can have some scalloped potatoes because I am not on a diet, I am just trying to have a healthier lifestyle! You have every right to live it up on your last official spring break! I am with you on the carbs carbs carbs! Yay for going to spin class! You are doing great! Hilwe85: Hooray for getting into your top choice medical program! I haven’t really felt discrimination in my work place because of my weight. Just a few ignorant comments. Alibuch: For all of the wrong reasons, I probably would have been motivated to diet if I was offered a trip to England. That is terrible of me, I know. I am sorry you had to watch your mom go through an eating disorder. I hope though that you can find a healthy weight where you feel good about yourself without feeling like you still aren’t thin enough! By the way all cheer here!!!! We have a water cooler at work too so I always drink enough water. I usually have like 10 glasses of water a day. I just bring in a 16 ounce bottle and refill it at least five times a day! I can picture the kids in your class being awed by your “big water!” Fantasyflight: Yay for fighting the lure of Easter sweets! I hope you were able to keep up your resolve! Yessica: I feel so bad for you for having to hide to eat cookies so you wouldn’t be yelled at. I can’t believe your mom wanted you to go for a tummy tuck! You should show her what you are made of , and do this all without any surgeries! Ksantama: Don’t cry and don’t give up! To be honest with you, this is the longest that I have tried to stay focused on eating healthy. Now when I fall off track, I don’t say to myself, Oh well, I am fat and will never be thin. I just try to tell myself that I just need to pick up asap. Before this, I would fall of track for like a month or two before I would decide I needed to start trying again. Now, I do still fall of track sometimes, but I try to make up for it as soon as possible. That’s a big reason why I am weight hovering, but at least I am not gaining, and I am hoping that if I keep working at it, I will start losing. Also, this forum helps soooo much. I am going to be severely pissed off if all the friends I made here are at their goals next year, and I am still at the same weight. I refuse to start another forum because I didn’t meet my goals this time! We can do this! Pinkcobra: you always give such sound advice! I am glad you and your hubby got to spend a day together! Good luck with your joining the Y! Don’t worry, you will get off your plateau! I have total faith that you can and will do it! By the way, how is the Y going? Watchmeshine: I hope you are sleeping better! I have always heard weights are the way to go too so you can keep your skin tight and firm. Good luck! I didn’t notice too much difference from like 240 to 180 at all. Then you get to 150 and the girl looks like a Barbie! Oh, as for dressing for your shape, if you like your legs, wear gauchos! They make legs look nice and draw the eye downward away from your middle section! I am so proud of you for being able to get into your 22’s! I will whoop and holler for you! I actually once read a study that showed that people relate losing a lot of weight with winning the lottery! So there you go, you won your own weight loss lottery and the prizes will only get higher! As for dance, you are probably building up your muscles. Muscle weighs more than fat, so even though you aren’t seeing a difference on the scale, you are obviously losing inches! Oh, and you can’t put happy with your life on hold just because you aren’t at your ideal weight. Be happy now! Spring is coming soon! That’s a reason to be happy in itself! By the way, you look great! Allydan: I had always promised myself that I would never allow myself to hit 200 lbs either. And then I did, and I was upset with myself, but I didn’t do anything to try to get healthier because I kind of felt like it didn’t matter. To me, it got as bad as it would. Now….50 + pounds later I refuse to gain anymore! I am glad things are better for you and your mom now I think everyone is always closer to one parent than the other! Don’t let other peoples perception of you get you down. You are a skinny girl in the making walking down the street! I am totally doing the happy dance for you being below 200! I am beyond proud of you! fallon: Go Run! Janalmeida: It sucks that you have to work so hard physically to get a job that you already have the credentials for. Good luck! Mladdy: I am so jealous that you went to Disneyland on Easter! That is beyond awesome! Anyhow, don’t feel bad for stopping at dennys on the way back. Think of all the calories you burned walking around Disney! I am sure you evened out! Yay for your 2 jobs! We knew you could do it! I hope that helps alleviate some of the pressure you have been feeling! Whoopee! I know that this is a process. I just wish I could jump up and down about my own weight loss! Lol! I won’t give up though! Spring is coming and that means lots of time outside walking around. I am more health conscience now too, so yay for small steps! Daniebelle: I can completely relate to you wanting to be smaller than your mom. If I were bigger than my mom, I would feel so terrible. For a while, we were almost the same size on top when she was thinner, her tops fit me just loosely, and that was ok, but I wouldn’t want to be bigger than her. Thanks for the support also! Don’t worry, I may feel discouraged, but I am not giving up this time! I will keep on pushing! And thank you to all you ladies who really turn this forum into a group of friends! Sullivankristie: Hi! Welcome to our group! I am sure you can reach your goals. I hope to be a stay at home mom some day too. But first I need to get my life in order, starting with my weight! I am sure you will be an asset to our group! Sonini: I am glad the boy was able to feel that you lost weight! I bet you feel great! I am glad that you are getting all kinds of recognition! Niehma: Hi welcome to our group! Aww, congratulations on having 4 year old twins! I know they must be a lot of work, but I bet they are so sweet and adorable! You will find support here! I know it’s so hard to work out by yourself, I like never manage it! If I have a workout buddy, I am there, but otherwise, well I know it’s hard! Maybe you can start by taking your girls with you on walks or going to the park with them?? Good luck! Safantasia: don’t focus on what your scale tells you. That is my biggest problem. I weigh myself obsessively! Just focus on how you feel, and you already mentioned that you are starting to feel great! I am sure your family will barely recognize the skinny girl you have become! Feddie: Go to the prom! It will be awesome! You will look gorgeous! I remember at my prom, a few teachers brought their wives, and they were really fun! Don’t miss this! Seriously, how many proms do you get to go to in a life time? Meltingaway: Thank you for sharing your story and for your support! It’s always great to hear that there are girls who have done it! You are an inspiration, and I am sure that you will lose your five pounds! Feel free to talk to us, I am sure we can relate to each other! Watchme & Dalma: I always crave salt. I love salt. And I quit salt like 6 months ago. Everyone in my family but me has High Blood pressure, and I don’t want it. So I quit added salt, although I still eat things that are naturally salty. Quitting added salt though was soooo hard because I salted EVERYTHING! As for protein, I am actually a huge carb craver! I love carbs! I eat a lot of protein too, but I prefer carbs! Ok I will pick it back up at like 980 tonight. Sorry my posts are sooooooo long! Don’t hate me for it! By the way... I got smart this time... I typed my reply in word so I wouldn't have to worry about my post disapearing! |

good job, suzanne! geez louise! girls, i went to that friggin' cardio class last night, and i can honestly say it kicked my butt 5 ways from sunday! it wasn't just aerobics, it was floor exercises, pilates, spinning, jogging, the little stair stepper box. it was a freakin' boot camp! i could not keep up. i haven't felt "fat" in a very long time, but i felt fat last night! i didn't realize that i barely move my body side to side or up and down, or jump or any of that. i have the worst reflexes. and you know i can't sit on a bike seat b/c it hurts my lady parts, and half the damn class was on the bike! i was in so much pain the instructor took pity on me and just had me do laps around the gym. if it wasn't for the bike, i'd be there again next week, just so i can get faster and used to just moving around a lot. i know if i'd have stayed on that thing, i wouldn't have been able to walk -- or pee -- at all today. |

dalma, that's sort of how i feel in hip hop class but not in latin craze. see, in hip hop, the moves are SO choreographed and SO fast and different (a sequence of different moves) that keeping up, moving that fast, being at the same pace as everyone else, is impossible for me. in latin craze, though, the moves are repetitive so we do the same thing again and again and even if i'm a little behind, it works itself out. i get so frustrated about my inability to move as fast in hip hop and feel so out of place and don't end up burning all that much. glad that some of you pcos'ers got some help outta my post :) it's been a few years of research to figure out how this stuff works and "flip the switch" so to speak. not sure how to figure out my heart rate without a monitor. i can't really feel my pulse normally but i guess i can when i'm working out at 55 rpm... cuz it's beating so much faster :) my doctor had said to work out a full 60 minutes to 90 minutes each day and yet i told her i could only do so at a slower pace. so i'm so confused as to all the articles i'm reading that say i won't burn as much fat that way and may even hold onto fat. i don't know why she told me that in order to lose weight, i have to do that much. according to these articles, doing MORE exercise is actually to your detriment. this is all very confusing. has anyone tried something like circuit training? a place like curves? i'm thinking of doing 45 minutes elliptical (drop dead point at 55 rpm) and then 15 minutes of bike plus my 15-20 minutes of weights. that's a nice mix. |

so it's 4:20 and i'm exhausted (still recovering from the lack of sleep the other evening, i suppose.) caloric intake for the day is at 1070 calories. really want to have spaghetti with paki chili tonight (meaning in about 2 hours) but it would be a total of 715 calories and i don't eat pasta anymore.... but i want it today. the pasta is whole grain (barilla brand), high protein (10 g in the serving) and 4 g of fiber. not sure what to do. the chili has black beans, ground beef and marinera sauce... very very high in protein. if i want anything else (like dessert), i will go WAY over for the day (like 2000), which is okay since i only ate 1550 calories yesterday and am trying to do this (1700 +/- 300) to keep my body guessing... but, still. |

watchme, eat the pasta, you know you're gonna like it! as for the exercise, i only concentrate on cals burned. i try to get the hell outta the gym as quickly as possible. so if i can get my 600 cals burned in 30-45 mins, all the better. i can't be in that place for more than an hour, i refuse! meanwhile, why does it feel like friday? it's not even sunny out, but i've been thinking it was friday ever since i got up this morning! maybe b/c i'm looking forward to the weekend. i'm going down to d.c. to look at the cherry blossoms and take part in the kite festival. i haven't flown a kite in over 15 years! then i'm getting together with a bunch of friends for a movies and games night. good, wholesome fun, and i don't have to wear makeup! where the heck is friday??? |

Hey ladies, Just checkin in----Not feeling too great today--I have bad cramps---I'm really taking advantage of my Spring Break and I'm still in my pj's, I'm going to try to make it to spin class tonight--it's in about 2 1/2 hrs away...I really want to go and I think it will help my stomach--usually if I do exercise they go away for a while---so I might just push myself to go---I really hate days like this! Looks like everyone is doing great! Thanks for all the shout-out suzanne! Good job on getting the exercise in ladies! How bout the rest of you did you get yours in? How's the eating going? I see that on the Tyra Banks show (I don't really watch it) but today it's about girls who freak out when they see a "certain" number on the scale----I thought this was interesting--I honestly always told myself (jokingly of course) that if I ever got over 200 that I would just die--and guess what I made it to over 220 and I didn't die but I haven't been happy with the fact that I let it happen--but now that I exercise and eat healthy and even though the weight is coming off slowly I am "ok" in a way with being over 200--I guess I didn't want to get this high because I knew it would be in an un-healthy way----That's why my goal is to be healthy and I really believe that can be achieved at any weight--I don't think that I have to follow some USDA guidelines or whatever they are on BMI just to be healthy--I think I can be like 160 which I am supposed to under 130 (according to the guidelines) but I think I can be 160 and still be healthy--I really think I can--I just don't think those numbers are for everyone--but I think if you exercise and eat healthy and try that everyone should have their own number to weigh--does that make since? I just think that everyone has a different body and bone structure--who is to say just because we are all 5 foot 2 inches that we need to weight between 109 and 130---I don't think so--just a thought and my opinion of course! Hope you ladies have a good rest of the evening--I'm going to try to make it to spin class. Oh guess what, my hubby just signed up to take a 6 month Personal Training class to get certified--how cool is that? Usually you just have to take a test to get certified but he wants to go to school so he can actually learn how to do everything! I'm excited so I can learn all that he's going to learn! |

interesting article i found (http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/scale .htm) We’ve been told over an over again that daily weighing is unnecessary, yet many of us can’t resist peeking at that number every morning. If you just can’t bring yourself to toss the scale in the trash, you should definitely familiarize yourself with the factors that influence it’s readings. From water retention to glycogen storage and changes in lean body mass, daily weight fluctuations are normal. They are not indicators of your success or failure. Once you understand how these mechanisms work, you can free yourself from the daily battle with the bathroom scale. Water makes up about 60% of total body mass. Normal fluctuations in the body’s water content can send scale-watchers into a tailspin if they don’t understand what’s happening. Two factors influencing water retention are water consumption and salt intake. Strange as it sounds, the less water you drink, the more of it your body retains. If you are even slightly dehydrated your body will hang onto it’s water supplies with a vengeance, possibly causing the number on the scale to inch upward. The solution is to drink plenty of water. Excess salt (sodium) can also play a big role in water retention. A single teaspoon of salt contains over 2,000 mg of sodium. Generally, we should only eat between 1,000 and 3,000 mg of sodium a day, so it’s easy to go overboard. Sodium is a sneaky substance. You would expect it to be most highly concentrated in salty chips, nuts, and crackers. However, a food doesn’t have to taste salty to be loaded with sodium. A half cup of instant pudding actually contains nearly four times as much sodium as an ounce of salted nuts, 460 mg in the pudding versus 123 mg in the nuts. The more highly processed a food is, the more likely it is to have a high sodium content. That’s why, when it comes to eating, it’s wise to stick mainly to the basics: fruits, vegetables, lean meat, beans, and whole grains. Be sure to read the labels on canned foods, boxed mixes, and frozen dinners. Women may also retain several pounds of water prior to menstruation. This is very common and the weight will likely disappear as quickly as it arrives. Pre-menstrual water-weight gain can be minimized by drinking plenty of water, maintaining an exercise program, and keeping high-sodium processed foods to a minimum. Another factor that can influence the scale is glycogen. Think of glycogen as a fuel tank full of stored carbohydrate. Some glycogen is stored in the liver and some is stored the muscles themselves. This energy reserve weighs more than a pound and it’s packaged with 3-4 pounds of water when it’s stored. Your glycogen supply will shrink during the day if you fail to take in enough carbohydrates. As the glycogen supply shrinks you will experience a small imperceptible increase in appetite and your body will restore this fuel reserve along with it’s associated water. It’s normal to experience glycogen and water weight shifts of up to 2 pounds per day even with no changes in your calorie intake or activity level. These fluctuations have nothing to do with fat loss, although they can make for some unnecessarily dramatic weigh-ins if you’re prone to obsessing over the number on the scale. Otherwise rational people also tend to forget about the actual weight of the food they eat. For this reason, it’s wise to weigh yourself first thing in the morning before you’ve had anything to eat or drink. Swallowing a bunch of food before you step on the scale is no different than putting a bunch of rocks in your pocket. The 5 pounds that you gain right after a huge dinner is not fat. It’s the actual weight of everything you’ve had to eat and drink. The added weight of the meal will be gone several hours later when you’ve finished digesting it. Exercise physiologists tell us that in order to store one pound of fat, you need to eat 3,500 calories more than your body is able to burn. In other words, to actually store the above dinner as 5 pounds of fat, it would have to contain a whopping 17,500 calories. This is not likely, in fact it’s not humanly possible. So when the scale goes up 3 or 4 pounds overnight, rest easy, it’s likely to be water, glycogen, and the weight of your dinner. Keep in mind that the 3,500 calorie rule works in reverse also. In order to lose one pound of fat you need to burn 3,500 calories more than you take in. Generally, it’s only possible to lose 1-2 pounds of fat per week. When you follow a very low calorie diet that causes your weight to drop 10 pounds in 7 days, it’s physically impossible for all of that to be fat. What you’re really losing is water, glycogen, and muscle. This brings us to the scale’s sneakiest attribute. It doesn’t just weigh fat. It weighs muscle, bone, water, internal organs and all. When you lose "weight," that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve lost fat. In fact, the scale has no way of telling you what you’ve lost (or gained). Losing muscle is nothing to celebrate. Muscle is a metabolically active tissue. The more muscle you have the more calories your body burns, even when you’re just sitting around. That’s one reason why a fit, active person is able to eat considerably more food than the dieter who is unwittingly destroying muscle tissue. Robin Landis, author of "Body Fueling," compares fat and muscles to feathers and gold. One pound of fat is like a big fluffy, lumpy bunch of feathers, and one pound of muscle is small and valuable like a piece of gold. Obviously, you want to lose the dumpy, bulky feathers and keep the sleek beautiful gold. The problem with the scale is that it doesn’t differentiate between the two. It can’t tell you how much of your total body weight is lean tissue and how much is fat. There are several other measuring techniques that can accomplish this, although they vary in convenience, accuracy, and cost. Skin-fold calipers pinch and measure fat folds at various locations on the body, hydrostatic (or underwater) weighing involves exhaling all of the air from your lungs before being lowered into a tank of water, and bioelectrical impedance measures the degree to which your body fat impedes a mild electrical current. If the thought of being pinched, dunked, or gently zapped just doesn’t appeal to you, don’t worry. The best measurement tool of all turns out to be your very own eyes. How do you look? How do you feel? How do your clothes fit? Are your rings looser? Do your muscles feel firmer? These are the true measurements of success. If you are exercising and eating right, don’t be discouraged by a small gain on the scale. Fluctuations are perfectly normal. Expect them to happen and take them in stride. It’s a matter of mind over scale. |

Congrats to everyone on the exercise routines! Since my little (massive) tumble down the stairs, I thought it would be best to lay off a few days, but I'd like to hit the gym on Sunday. Slight problem--now that I am back at school, "going to the gym" means exposing myself to a bunch of super-fit, super-perky cheerleader/football types...does anyone else feel uncomfortable when heading to a public gym? Besides attending at off-peak hours, as I hope to (i.e. when it's really dark so that no one can see me :-P) how did you ladies overcome your gym-discomfort? Watchme, thanks also for posting that article. I know I said that I wouldn't weigh myself until I got my period...that didn't happen! Plus today I ate a horrific amount of sodium (over 3000 mg), so I think for my sanity it would really best to skip weighing in tomorrow morning! Good night everyone, keep it up! |

yay friday! hilwe, it took me a few weeks to get over my discomfort at the public gym. all i can say is keep going, and DON'T HIDE!!! force yourself to exercise right next to the skinny chick or the muscled-up dude. yes, you will feel terribly intimidated at first, but eventually you'll start to feel like you belong, and you might even feel your inner skinny chick come alive a little more. none of us should feel ashamed of how we look, or feel so bad about ourselves that we hide from the rest of the world. we deserve to exist just as much as they do. do NOT let anyone else dictate how you live your life. edit: i fell down the stairs in november. i was so busted up, i couldn't move for 24 hours. my left leg was all banged up, swollen, numb, and bruised. turns out i had a hematoma, a bunch of blood leaked out, but under the skin. it was gross. anyway, the dr. made me stop exercising till it went away. i didn't exercise for 6 weeks. it was better that way, b/c i think i would have aggravated the problem. my point? let yourself heal b/f you get back out there. edit edit: got the names wrong. sorry! |

Thanks Suzanne, you're always so great how you keep up so well with everyone and their posts. Hilwe, I second what Dalma says about the gym, just go and enjoy it, I always feel like the biggest person there, though an interesting thing happened this week for the first time I noticed some others too, could be bacause I'm starting to feel better about myself I'm noticing what's around me instead of keeping the blinders on and just staying in my own world. (or could be I'm noticing that I'm not the biggest person their anymore too :) ) but only got here with going to the gym and not letting it bother me, it's not people you know and even if you do start seeing familiar faces, they're only gonna be seeing less and less of you :) and also though I must add that a lot of people in my gym locker room hang out in the nude, and they all aren't that pretty so in a wierd way that helped me get over it. Watchme, how do you sleep for so long?? I need tips on that!! I can't sleep more than 6 or 7 hours and even then its often interrupted by atleast 1 wake up. |

Original Post by safantasia: i have SO gotten over not walking around nuders in the locker room! i tell you, those women do NOT look good naked, so i figure i look just as "good" as most of them, if not a little better, so to hell with it, i'm takin' my clothes off! once you take off the i'm-so-gross glasses, you'll see most people are in the same boat as you. most things aren't as bad as we make them seem. |

safa, i woke up once at 10:30 at night to 2 phone calls but that was like 15 minutes. i probably slept a grand total of 4 hours at best saturday night and 4.5 hours on tuesday night. i'm normally an 8 hours of sleep kinda gal. the intense work outs are supposed to make you need even MORE sleep than your norm so i think my body just needed the rest. or else i usually can't sleep much more than 9-10 hours :) |

Happy Friday, ladies!
Tonight I'm hitting up the kickboxing class again (which is my equivalent of the crazy cardio class you did a few days ago, dalma, (minus the sore lady parts!) Lol!). Last time I went, I just about died and had to march in place for a bit while everyone else was turbo kicking and whatnot. It's crazy because I feel all fly 'cuz I can go hardcore on the elliptical for 40 minutes, and I don't realize quite how out of shape I still am until I go to one of the classes. It's totally worth it, though. I'm also gonna try and do the first day of week 2 in the Couch to 5K, but I might have to do that tomorrow if I'm too tired after the class. Suzanne, you always rock! I don't know how you do it! :-) Sonini, I like the new pic! You look so pretty! :-) Bootser, I hope your cramps are better... I deeply understand those, only excersize tends to make mine worse for some reason. *shrugs* And that's way exciting about your husband! How great will it be to have a training expert living with you! Hilwe, half those cheerleader types in the gym aren't all superfit! Some of them might be (in which case, they're focused on working out and couldn't care less about who/what is around them, but a lot of them are just there to go 60 steps per minute (slow) on the elliptical for 15 minutes and spend the rest of their time strutting around trying to meet guys. Anyone who wears a full face of make-up to the gym is not to be paid attention to! Don't let yourself be intimidated! Go for it! :-) In other news, I think I'm going to actually go buy a full length mirror this weekend. I haven't had one in about two years because I hated seeing myself in them, but I want to be able to watch my booty shrink without having to jump up and down to see it in the mirror above my bathroom sink. :-) |
