God and Weight Loss cactus_bob

I started losing weight in September of 2006, right after I became a Christian. I believe that God inspired me to become more healthy and gave me the strength to do so.

In January of this year, my mom also started losing weight. We both believe that it was a command from God for her to do so, and she's in the process of losing 115 pounds. She's already lost over fifty, and I believe that it's been because of the Lord's help that she's come as far as she has.

So I just wanted to know: How has God helped you in your weight loss goal?

Cuss I have bible pushers.  I cant stand ppl running around trying to show off their god and I consider them disrespectful.  They are one the primary reasons our govt is so screwed up right now.

And if you don't think religion plays a huge role in the iraq war then you are just plain ignorant.

Um, "you" have "bible pushers"?  This is a public forum, and a person inquired about how "God" may have helped other believers with their weight loss.  Who's pushing anything on you?  Nobody forced you to click on the thread.

And I didn't say that religion didn't play a role in Iraq.  That you seem to see no difference between a government's willingness to exploit religion versus individual Christians on a message board expressing their faith only highlights your ignorance.

I think you got it backwards.  Religion exploits the govt.

It occurs both ways.  Often the people doing the exploiting don't actually believe in the religious tool they're using, but still put on a good show, so it's easy to get them mixed up.

Yah thats why we cant have abortions, or the day after pill, or things like stem cell research that would actually help real ppl.

Who cares if our planet is grossly overpopulated?  We dont need those things, god will take care of it. /sarcasm  Are these ppl fking serious?

We dont need stem cell research, I mean why try to save the geniuses and elite of our  country when we can have another crack addicted toddler running around?

#106 pgeorgian May 20 2008 17:03
um...huh?

unless something changed dramatically overnight, abortions are still legal and the ECP (emergency contraceptive pill) is widely available.  and stem cell research is progressing nicely.  not that it's likely to prevent crack addiction.

Abortion is still legal and available, as is the day after pill.  Stem cell research is being conducted, it's just not getting as much government funding as most people would like.

And I have to ask again, why are you posting this here

Not like they should be progressing.  There is a lot of religious red tape.

Also there is the religion trying to get into school dilemma.

My county cant sell alcohol on Sunday because the retarded religious ppl think its a sin.  So every Sunday every1 goes to other counties and we lose tons of money.

wow.  you are really all over the map.  can't wait to see where you go next.

Talk about derailing the topic - now you're onto a school diatribe?

And I'm willing to bet that a lot of the religious people in your county would support the repealing of blue laws, as they are mostly no longer relevant.

Mysticjbryd, ADULT  Stem cell research is already helping people. There are 70+ therapies available using cells derived from ADULT stem cells that is showing tremendous progress. It's just Embryonic stem cell research (which has given no indication of ever helping anyone) that many people have moral issues with. Scientifically it's not a good treatment. they cause tumors to grow, and they are not making progress with that research, they don't help, its a waste of money that could be put into adult or even cord blood stem cell treatments.

And abortions don't help anyone. Talk to someone who had an abortion 10 years ago, and they will likely say that they regret their abortion. Abortions can cause sterility, and is linked to breast cancer, they can also lead to severe mental, relationship, and social issues as well.

Anyways, this is not the same post anymore, if you don't believe in God, that's your choice, but this is not an arena to bash and put-down the personal faith of millions around the world. We're here to help each other in our weightloss goals, and this has become a forum that is not being respectful anymore.

Of course these things are available now.  But do you have any idea how long it took?  So much religious red tape it was ridiculous.  We should be miles ahead of where we are right now.

yikes, kristi!  way to spew propaganda!  do you believe any of that, or are you deliberately disseminating bs?

not that i'm defending mysticbyrd, but...really.  i know many many people who've had abortions: none regret it, and none have had any long-term emotional or physical repercussions.
