  Apr 24 2008 22:04

Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

My Friday weigh in - 199.2 and STUCK! I've been this for over 10 days now. But I'm doing great on eating and exercising. So, I believe it has got to drop again any day now.... I hope.

hey guys, hope all is well, ive had a strange week, after going out bigstyle over the wkend, i couldnt get back into my gym routine at all, ive just been feeling really tired and weak, not one bit motivated for exercise, i've still been eating below my cal intake and someow im now down 2 pounds to 137 from 139 where ive stalled for last two weeks, weird eh, no gym for a week and im losing, i tink ive worked out that im deficient in iron as i dont eat much red meat and my only obvious source is broccoli maybe twice a week, my symptoms seem to correspond with anaemia so im gonna get some supplements and hope i get back to normal soon, hate feeling so lethargic...

Monday already!?

After a weekend away that involved a lot of eating, i chickened out on weighing myself this morning. After peeking last night when we returned from Paris and seeing that I was up 3 kg, I decided it might be a good idea to let my body recover a day or two before trying to assess the damage! I did walk a lot during the trip, but then again, I also indulged a lot. Regardless, I've a week of very good behavior ahead.

Congrats to Emberjem and st01! :)

Southern_Midwife, stick with it! All that hard work has got to show somewhere!

Good luck to all this week!

Good job Beth!  It has to cooperate sooner or later, eh?

Welcome back monkey-How was Paris?  Good idea to stay away from the scale and bask in your memories of good sights and good food instead!  It will work itself out.

Sorry you aren't feeling good carolally!  Hope supplements help!

Wooohooo st01!  Your close too!  3.8 is great!

Today I had to weigh....169!  Holey cow that feels GREAT!  I know, I know I shouldn't weigh every day but when I was so close I just had to!  Now hopefully it stays down.  Laughing

#108 monkeyfish77 Jun 10 2008 07:47

Morning!

Southern Midwife= Beth? If so, congrats, Beth! I'm glad you finally got some evidence!

Emberjem, I'm a big fan of weighing every day. I hate being surprised by the scale, so by weighing daily, I know I'm never going to wake up and find that I gained ten pounds. I'm sure it will stay down- look at all your hard work. When were you last in Paris? It's such a pretty city.

Paris was lovely; although I did take it a bit easier than I normally would have in terms of activity because I've been recovering from a cold since last Tuesday. I finally went to the doc yesterday, as I was sick of coughing and not working out. I'm feeling leaps and bounds better today. I really just want to get back into the gym. On the trip, I mostly just ate and walked, combining two of my favorite activities. I had gone to meet up with a friend from New York, so much of the trip was catching up with her, rather than sightseeing.

Carol, Have you talked to your doctor? Iron pills can be a bit rough on your digestive system, so try to find one that is slow uptake, like Slow Fe, if you do take one.

OK, time to head to work. Have a good one!

#109 amariep Jun 11 2008 13:26

Bongiorno !!!

It s been a few since last on here.  Back to 177 today.  Thank goodness!

I find checking the scale daily is better for me it keeps me more on track I can adjust my workouts and food by my daily weight .. Maybe because I gain and loose 5 lbs. per day.

Its encouraging to hear all the great results...WAY TO GO!!!!!!!

I find climate and atmosphere is  a big impact on weight also... Since Ive moved to the south the hot humid weather and beautiful beach bodies keep me more motivated to work out and drink more water.

I understand the iron problem..I have anemia and I was told to take a multi V plus a Flinstones V.  It adds just the right amt. of iron without adding too many vitamins and minerals because you loose a lot of Vitamins through the day.

Keep up the great work! Ciao!

Hi, I just found this forum, I'm not sure how the posting works.  I'm 5'10" wt 191 down from my all time high of 203.  I'm working on a goal of 156 by Christmas. It sounds like you all are familar with one another.  I weigh every day in the morning.  I try to stick to 1500 calories with 1/2 hour fast walk or bike ride every day. Any motivation or tips will be welcome.

#111 dplatzer Jun 11 2008 15:15

Hey Everyone!

It is good to see lots of the same people keep posting on here, it is nice hearing everyone's succeses, and rebounds from little slips!

Carol, I feel you on the taking gym time off, and losing weight!  Last week I had a bachelorette party (not mine!) mid-week, and it made me take 3 gym days off; 1 for the party, and two hangover days, haha.  Anyhow, my weight went DOWN!  I guess maybe its our bodies being so happy for a rest they reward us.

Emberjem, I weigh myself daily too.  I used to avoid the scale until I felt it was necessary, but now that I've been on CC for the last couple of months I find daily weigh-ins keep my eating on track better, and my workouts too.

As for the Paris trip, it would be WRONG to not enjoy the food while you were there.  And as long as you were walking, and if you try extra hard this week, one week of indulgence really won't set you back.

K110465, welcome to the tall girls club!  It sounds like you are already off to a great start!  I think you will definitely be able to reach your goal by Christmas.  Try little things at a time, like if you drink soda start drinkiing water with a crystal light pack instead.  Try to add different things to your workouts (slowly!)  maybe join a gym and take classes, so you don't get bored of your routine, and so your body has to keep adjusting, which helps with weight loss.  I am a runner, and I run about 20 miles a week, but I found that adding some cross training like stationary bike and eliptical has helped.  I am also doing some light lifting and I think that is also helping.

As for me, I am bouncing between 156-157 (@ 5'10'', down from all-time high 162).  I was really hoping to be closer to 150 by now, but I konw that I still have improvements to make, namely cutting back alcohol, keeping my eating habits better  and being consistent with weight training.

#112 southern_midwife Jun 11 2008 17:00

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to check in.

Welcome to K110465!

I have some tips on low hemoglobin or hematocrit (iron). It's kind of one of my areas of expertise, being a midwife.

My all time favorite for getting the iron count up is liquid chlorophyll. If you are actually anemic, you need to take about 1/4 cup a day. Buy the mint flavored and add it to something. Even water works fine. Capsules are okay but don't work as quickly in my experience.

I've had clients with real low counts bounce right back up quickly using just the liquid chlorophyll. Wheat grass shots also help, same principle. No one knows why it works but it does. Also, Yellow Dock works for some people. You can take it by pill or tincture.

If that doesn't work, you might have a problem absorbing iron. So you may also need a balanced B complex and possibly B12 taken sublingually (under the tongue) or by injection.

As for me, I'm down a bit more in my weight and feeling really good. I've been varying my workout with various things: water aerobics, walking, pilates, and yard work. My only rule is that I break a sweat for at least 30 minutes 6 days a week with one day of "rest."

SW 204;

CW 196.6 - It's been 18 days and I'm down 7.4 lbs

GW 160 - still a long way to go but I'm encouraged.

The best news for me today is that I'm wearing a tank top and I'm not embarrassed by saggy "old lady" underarms! They aren't totally firm yet but they look SO much better.

Ya'll keep up the great work,

Beth ("Ya'll" is Texan for "all of you") Wink

#113 carolally Jun 11 2008 18:54

Hi guys, thank so much for all the great iron tips, im def gonna look more into supplements, i also had a big steak sunday and it was yum! im still not back on track gym wise dplatzer, not good, i do think my body needed a break but I have to seriously get back on track before i start putting the pounds back on, ive been trying to make up the deficit b eating less approx 1200 cals a day this week, Ill bump that up to 1500-1600 cals sat and sun and then hit the gym hard monday.. good/bad idea? thanks tall ladies for the great inputs!!

#114 monkeyfish77 Jun 11 2008 20:36

Hi girls!

I finally faced the scale after a few days of recovery from my wine, cheese, and walking- packed Parisian weekend, and it looks like I've broken even, which is good news!

I'd like to say a big thank you to the tall ladies, as I think posting with you has done a fine job of helping me get back into a good mindset about my diet and exercise. I had fallen out of routine while away in New York for two weeks in the first half of May, despite having packed my gym gear. When I got back, I just wasn't motivated. I worked out a little here and there, but mostly I just made excuses and worked out my couch's pillows. Now, I really want to just get back to it. I'm still taking it easy (weights only, no cardio) because I'm getting over bronchitis, but I expect to be over it and back on track shortly.

Amariep- Congrats on being back to 177! I prefer to check daily as well, realizing that my weight will vary based on environmental factors. I find that by checking it more frequently, I'm never worried that I'll suddenly be surprised by a significant change.

k110465- Welcome! There are quite a few of us, so I'm guessing that we're all still getting to know one another. How are things with you?

dplatzer- Hangovers are the *worst*! I'm glad yours came with a benefit! I always eat my way through hungover days, much to my own detriment! You were absolutely right about culinary indulgence in France, and I did order that sorbet when everyone else ordered mousse, so I wasn't all bad! Much to my surprise, I really wanted the sorbet!

Beth- You're going to have arms worthy of a closet worth of tank tops soon! Yay for 7.4 lbs!

Carol- Keep taking good care of yourself! :)

#115 k110465 Jun 12 2008 16:15

Hi,  I guess I can tell you a little about myself.  I'm Kim.  42 years old, non-smoker for 10 years(which where the weight came from).  I have a 7 year old step daughter who keeps me busy, but as a consequence I'm eating on the run a lot, or finishing up what she doesn't eat etc.  My weight gain has been so gradual, I didn't really pay attention until I hit the 200 mark.  Then I panicked!  I went to L A weight loss and lost 30 lb, but gained it all right back.  This time I'm doing it slowly and not limiting what I can eat just how much I eat--instead of a huge bowl of ice cream, I have a small bowl.  thanks for all the welcoming words.   I really appreciate it.

#116 emberjem Jun 12 2008 22:13

Happy Thursday everyone!

Welcome Kim!  Good job stopping the habit!  That's awesome...and I agree..if I am dying for a Starbuck I'm going to have one!  Now that means that I'm going to be hungrier that day cause the calories have to give elsewhere but I can't live totally banning foods.  I won't stick to it.  I know myself too well.  The nice thing since starting is I don't really miss sugar too much.  I have it occasionally now, whereas before it was a major food group for me!

Beth-I LOVE natural stuff as opposed to drugs!  I visit a naturopathic doc here (who also is a midwife) and she has helped me with lots of stuff.  Esp with young kids I LOVE having alternatives to prescription drugs.  And preventative stuff.  LOVE IT.  Congrat on the weight loss.  You are doing great!

Monkey-I actually have never been to Paris.  My only venture out of the country was to Ecuador.  But sounds fantastic!

I don't know 'bout the rest of you but I am really hungry.  I keep thinking my stomach will shrink and I'll get over it.  But wow!  Haven't yet.  The days I choose Starbucks or the like, I think it is worse...obviously when I stuff myself with veggies and protein I'm not as hungry.  But y'know sometimes I just gotta have a treat!

Keep it up gals!!  Weigh in tomorrow!!!
