Good week! Felt great; clothes fitting better, good workouts and ate well (A or A- every day this week) but still showed a gain. Strange? 244.0 --- But I'm not worried. Ate well and higher in protein and lower carbs than I used to.  Maybe just an adjustment.

CW 141 - not going in the right direction.  I'm commiting today to South Beach.  I'v had tremendous success in the past but some how got away from it.  I've had a few false starts in the past. I'm really going to put the effort in this time.

173lbs today.

Am going to start eating much better quality foods as have become so concentrating on the calories that not really noticing what it is i'm eating.

Going to give the higher protein thing a go staps and enimzaj Smile

goood afternooon.... im 131, i dono guess that a gain...but i feel alot stronger!hah i was wrestling with my dad and he was sooo surprised by my strength hehee, i can beat him up now:P I can do 25 gooood pushups in a row!

yeah ive been eating more protein too, and cutting down on carbs....i think it helps... and i havent eaten cereal in like 5 or 6 days!!yay and whenever i get a craving i eat bananas and yogurt..mmm, and they seem to be less frequent.

hasta..is south beach a hi-carb or a lo-carb diet?

do we need someone to do stats?i could try to, tommorow maybe..

It's definately low carb.  You avoid enriched food like the plauge.  The first 2 wks are the toughest b/c you elimate carbs, fruit, sugar, and alcohol.  But I like it because the book give you a daily meal plan for the initial 4 weeks. 

My kids want the computer but I'll check back later and do the stats if they haven't been done by them.

OK: weighed in on Friday morning as I knew I was going to enjoy some sushi and therefore more salt and carbs than normals.  Didn't want to show that water retention again this week.  Weigh in: 236 Yeah!
02/16/08: 179.0 # - small gain, but I'm not worried.  I've driven to work more often this week, for various reasons, and will have to do so tomorrow and Monday as well--too bad!
Wooot! this week was superb for me!!!ive been majorly exercising!(going to alot of fitness classes...walking whenever i can......

and absolutely NO sugar!!!!!!! even fruits.....i just need a break from it for awhile...and the pounds came offf!

Terrible week! Am 174lbs

I need some help... am not bothering to count calories anymore and so am finding that am eating bad stuff again.

The main culprit is the vending machines at college; my friends around me are eating chocolate etc from the machines and so i get tempted and get some!

Dont wanna put weight back on Frown What shall i dooooooo???

I think it may be natural for people to gain weight during late winter.  Until fairly recently, most people didn't really get enough to eat during this season, so there might be an incentive to eat more if it's available.

Soon we'll have dandelions, wild onions, wild mustard, violets, and other good spring greens.

You all are sooooo amazing! Don't you dare panic. Since I'm not very good at playing the game, but I like watching others' successes, I'm taking the job of a sideline cheerleader right now. Here's some recreational data that may help you guys put the recent week in perspective:

lucydawn you are the #1 loser! congrats on losing 12 lbs. since we started.

straps, africanlover,& dinarly - phenomenal progress ladies. your combined losses have taken 21.6 lbs off the gravitational pull of the earth!

I didnt really realise that i have actually lost quite a bit. Keep concentrating on the negatives instead of the positives!

Since Sunday I have been counting calories again and have got to 171.5 lbs this morning!!
The fluctuation in weight might have something to do with the time of the month which has taken ages but finally arrived.

Am eating lots better now and this week am on half term so should be able to resist being naughty.. dunno what im going to do once am back at college and near the vending machines again though!

Same for you africalover4ever.. dont give up! Just think of how good it feels when you see you have lost weight- it far out weighs the counting calories part.

I am so sorry you guys but I will be out of town again this weekend without a computer! Therefore, i cannot weigh in until Sunday night! Sorry Sorry Sorry! Since I won't be here on Sat, do you all want me to do the chart?

02/23/08: 180.8 # -- another gain.  I ate over my allotted calories for almost the whole week; in my defense, I was incredibly hungry.  180 pounds seems to be a plateau for me psychologically as well as physically, and I can't account for the excessive hunger, as I did not exercise more. 

Saturday afternoon and all is well.... Weighed in on Friday AM since Friday evenings can be crazy and sometime salt-laden.  237.5 .... a slight increase but probably just an adjustment from the larger than normal loss last week.. water I'm sure.

Ate well, exercised a lot and really had a good week A or A- all week.  I'd like to get some guidance on how I can improve for a A+.... any ideas?  Would be cool if there was an advice area to the side of the analysis area where it said, increase this or decrease that.. I can't figure ot out on my own above the A level and that is HARD to do.... but getting easier... Smile.

Happy Saturday everyone!  My weight didn't really change.  It's 141.2.   I didn't exercise though other than walking my dog.

Dinarly hang in there.  Are you getting enough water?  Also you may try munching on raw veggies.  The more work your stomach has to do to break down the food the longer you stay "full".

Straps you are doing great.  Your ponderings about an A+ lead me to believe that you were the kid in elementary school that got a real kick out of the gold stars on the papers.  Laughing

I think you're right about the water; I haven't been drinking as much since the weather has been colder.  I do eat lots of raw vegetables, though, especially celery.

The elusive A+: I think it's impossible.  I keep track of my "GPA" as well, and the most current is 3.816.  I try not to go below a B each day, and so far I haven't.  I really don't have a problem there as I like the healthy food I eat, but want more of it! 

 

I just like to think I can achieve it (A+) if I only knew all the rules; maybe it would help me to eat better; maybe not.

I've had some C days, but not too many.  I kinda thought the grading system was the whole idea to guide you through eating better and losing weight.  I know some peole say a calorie is a calorie, but I know better and eating more protein and less carbs is working for me.

Oh, and BTW it is Staps; an abbreviation of my last name and not some kinky moniker which some people tend to mistake. Embarassed LOL
