I'm semi-new to this website, and I like it here.
It's a great tool to helthy weight oss...
I guess a challenge for july would do me good! I would like to lose 15 lbs by the time school starts on Sept. 14th.
For July I'd like to see an 8lb loss.
I pledge to exercise at least 5 times a week. Swimming, bike riding or roller blading.
I pledge to keep my calorie intake between 1200-1600.
I pledge to allow myself some goodies when attending events like a BBQ, but to not overdo it (As I tend to)
I pledge to be less embarrased about me weight loss. (I don't like talking about it.)

I would really love to start the challenge the challenge also. this is my first time posting too, i think doing it with others helps keep me motivated and accountable. i seeem to gain 5 lose five i can gain 5lbs. in one stupid day i cant figure it out. anyway my 35th birthday is at the end of july also what a nice present 10lbs. lighter. Thank you
I'll definitely do the July Weight Loss Challenge! What's the format going to be?
Sorry maybe someone already asked this but I didn't want to search through four pages:
I completely agree with the "no binging" rule, but I was wondering if there could be any "cheat" days. I'd feel way to guilty eating everything I'd really want, but my birthday is coming up next week and it's likely there will be a dinner with cake. Is that still ok, because it's a special occasion (and a genuine one too, not just a reason to eat) and I'm still going to control my portions?
With that said, I'd like to join! I'm hoping to lose 15-20 lbs by August 26th. 15lbs is probably more likely, but mostly I just want my midsection to be noticably skinnier.

jetta, of course eat some of your bday cake you dont have to go hogwild but you dont have to deprive yourself of a very special occaison most all of us indulge time to time I even find that if you dont every now and then you let it build up and then you want to binge on anything you see.
Besides Kendra1462, has anyone else had experienced a weight loss like this before (10lbs in one month)?
I think it's possible for me to lose 10lbs in 30 days, but I keep hearing in the back of my mind, "don't get your hopes up!" I have faith in myself (I'm actually really optimisitic about this), but part of me is worried that I'm setting myself up for failure because it seems so unlikely that 10 lbs will actually come off in such short a time. I guess hearing other people's success stories will in some way 'guarantee' (or make it seem like more of a sure thing) that I will reach this goal. Ultimately, I'd like to shed 15-20 by the end of August.

Yeah, you're right. Thanks Angie. I guess I'm just paranoid about having ANYTHING like that because I so badly want to lose the weight I feel like anything will jeopardize it.
To Rosevelt:
I know what you mean about not wanting to talk about it. I'm not overweight, but compared to all of my friends I really feel that way. They are all the type of people that can eat what they want and stay model skinny. I guess because of that I feel embarrassed checking out all the calories and everything in front of them. It's stupid though. That will be part of my goal too - to be more open about this diet. (I haven't told my boyfriend either, but that's also because I won't see him until the end of August and I'm hoping to surprise him ...if he notices a difference!)

Exactly. I keep having to think up new ways to covertly check labels and make it seem like I'm having my usual three sausages on a bun and chips and cake rather than my new and improved one sausage, with veggies. I feel like a spy, and I prolly shouldn't have to hide my healthier lifestyle.
My boyfriend has noticed the changes... he warns me not to lose too much, as he likes my bum and breasts too much to see them dissapear...

4th month into this i lost 10lbs that month! It is possible but all and all i just use that as a goal so that i work myself just a lil more to try harder i dont always expect big weightloss in a month in fact i usually dont but what is the point in saying lets lose a pound this month whooooohooo
not much motivation for me then lol

Oh yeah, definetly. If I think that low I'm motivated to do nothing. Was there anything you found that you did to get the weight off that you absolutely cannot skip?
I'm really excited though! Only my immediate family knows I'm on this diet, so it's nice to have support coming from elsewhere.

The month i had the biggest weight loss i worked out alot more than i ever have and not really strength training or anything like that i just did alot more running, swimming, and i had a ton of garden work that was just the beginning of the planting season which was pretty evident all that extra moving around gave me a bigger weightloss...........Im still active mainly in the evenings when hubby is home and my kids are here we do alot of active things outside.
And above all things i could offer stick to your cals that you should be on for the day and that seems to work. water water water gotta have the water. and I load up on veggies turkey chicken gotta have my proteins.
