Supplement 1: Stages of Dieting

Introduction: Why the other diets just don't work
So many of us have tried them all: Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach, none of them work. Some of them help you learn how to get the weight off, but the moment you stop, BANG!, you're back up again. Well, that sucks, doesn't it?
That's because the diet industry, all of it is, is designed to make sure that you, the average overweight American, don't succeed. After all, if you finally lose the weight and keep it off, than suddenly you don't need to keep buying their stuff. And they're out alot of money.

Here on C-C, though, we can teach you, from experience, how to lose weight, how to keep it off and we don't even charge!

Good work HK - thanks for putting all this information into a nice, easy to read "book". You certainly sound like you could pen your own weight loss book...have you considered it? your writing is clear, understandable and has a touch of humour to make it an easy, wonderful ready. Great!!

So.. is there anything anyone else feels should be added to this that I failed to mention?
#112 nomoreexcuses Aug 21 2006 16:00
Would it be helpful to have a chapter that lists some health problems that affect weight and/or weight loss, perhaps a symptom or two or each and then include encouragement to see a health care professional for any of those problems?

Diabetes, Depression, and Hypothyroid are the ones that come to the top of my mind.  Also, quitting smoking...

?
#113 hkellick Aug 21 2006 16:13
We certainly could do it, but adding chapters is going to be much more tricky than adding parts to a chapter, since we're already at comment 113 and the post ends at comment 30-something :)

But, perhaps someone else can/should post that :)
#114 nomoreexcuses Aug 21 2006 17:44
maybe they should....   :)

;)
#115 shannon-nev Aug 21 2006 17:45
can this be put in the Library?
#116 nomoreexcuses Aug 21 2006 17:47
It's in the forum library because so many people have tagged it.

maybe Erik will decide to lift it to the library too -- that would be cool...

have you tagged it?
#117 skinnywillbe Aug 21 2006 21:36
BUMP!!! :)

Tagged!

Wow, I just spent the entire day reading this (no, I'm not an incredibly slow reader--I was at work and kept getting interupted by... well, work). This is such a great guide. It's obvious how much work you put into this HK. You've covered all the elements of sustainable weight loss, and put it in an easy to read, easy to browse format. Plus it's fun to read!! Thanks so much for doing this. I'm sure I will reference it on a continual basis. I can't wait to show it to my gf.

Anyway, I'm mostly a CC lurker (although I'm a faithful lurker... I'm here every day) but I felt I needed to give you a pat on the back for this one. Props to you.
