| HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way! if you have any suggestions, please tell me.... |

kt and mabear - I can totally understand how you guys feel. My younger sister is half Asian and half Caucasian. She is tall (5'8"), beautiful and thin. However, I can't help but comment that although they have higher metabolisms it doesn't mean that they are necessarily healthier. I have a friend who is my height (5'1") and weighs about 90 lbs and probably at a good weight for her build, she's very petite. Anyways, we used to workout together and she had no stamina. She went and checked it out with her doctor, turns out she has a cholesterol level (over 300) that's through the roof and that's from years of eating junk. While it never showed on the outside, it was still hurting her. So, please, do not mistake skinny for healthy. Just keep sticking to a healthy diet and that damned e-word and we'll eventually catch up to our own skinny! :) |

hey everyone! hope the weekend is going well. i've tried to stay out of the kitchen and the house today. So far so good. i just ate lunch and am still under 700 calories. i'm letting my daughter fix herself and her brothers pizza, but it is up to her to doctor it up and cook it so I don't binge! And boy does it look and smell good............. (i've already eaten. Ignore the pizza behind the oven door, it's just a big round fat pill....).
I think that it's great, all the new people finding this sight. I feel like I'm not alone in the world and there are really people out there going through the same trouble and trials. When I see everyone losing weight, it gives me encouragement and i don't feel quite so desperate and discouraged.... keep posting and I'll keep reading. Welcome to all newbies. I'm still a youngster myself but i've been made to feel welcome right from the beginning. Thanks everyone for your help with the Atkins thing. i think i'm just going to stick to following calories and low carbs according to the diabetes association for now and see if i can start seeing some results soon. Oh and about the skinny and unhealthy thing... My brother in law looks like a drowned rat and has always been very thin, eats full fledged fried southern meals and potatoes every night of his life. you'd think he'd be fat with the types of things he eats, but NOPE! Then last year he went to the doctor. immediately he was put on Diabetic meds, Choloesterol meds, and had to have a heart monitor and everything. his Cholesterol was 1200. The doctor couldn't believe he hadn't had a heart attack yet and while in the office gave him meds and began asking him if he was having chest pains right then. So, fat and healthy isn't so bad sometimes... |

Hye I guess when you look at it like that it is not always what its cracked up to be on the thin side either. but it will sure be nice to swallow whatevre I wanted when I wanted it and not worry about it. Then I think the trick would be that I wouldn't want it.
On a different note I want to thank every one for all the support that was a rough few days but I Just came in from doing that E- word. went for a nice walk and shot a few hoops with my thirteen year old chased my twelve year oldand before that I even put in 45 minutes of cardio!!! Yeah Me I survived ! thought I was gonna die in the process though, heehee. my legs gave out as I was trying the second workout I got half way through and I asked my daughter to toss me the cover and realized it was Two work outs. What an awfull trick for them to pull on me. Got to take the kids to a family party tonite and she always cook big but I am cooking dinner for me and the kids before I go and I am going to give myself a new no eat curfew after seven. No matter what. I am feeling better now and I am back on track .However I was wondering if 1) any one thinks this is too early and how many calories lee way do you give before saying I need to eat more cals. 2) I tried a few different site that Were suggested on here to try to figure out how much water I should be drinking. I am 36 '5'6" 234 and live in south central florida where it is humid most of the time. If some on could help me figure that out I would appreciate this. Though I love my computer I am computer illiterate. 3) And if it is not stated on the video case how do you decipher if a aerobic workout is low impact high imact or general.? Oh well off to feed my masses and get bathed and ready to go I'll check in later tonight. |

| Hi. Im currently at 244lbs, I lost 70lbs since last june and im pushing towards my 100lb weight loss mark. This is the second time ive lost a alot of weight in my life time, the first time i had a support system this time i did it on my own. I'm just finding out that although i know what to do and how to do it, it isnt as easy doing it alone. Therefore, ive decided to join weight watchers for the support aspect of it. I'm very active, in the gym 4-5 times a week and walk alot but im noticing that im at a plateu with my weight. i know i can loose more so i figured i would join weight watchers for support and to fix whatever i could possibly be doing wrong. this forum is excellent for someone like me because i get to share the same thoughts, ideas and challenges as someone who is tryin to loose weight or maintain their weight loss. | ||

blj - Ooo...good job on the pizza trick. That would be extremely, extremely tough for me...! I LOVE PIZZA. I can't even go near a pizza joint. Just keep thinking of it as the "big round fat pill!" That totally cracked me up! The last place I lived, they use to make pizza rolls that was basically a medium sized pizza all rolled up and deep fried, the college students fondly called them "fat bags" because not only was it deep fried, when you took a bite all the fat from the pepperoni and cheese would ooze right out of it! Since joining CC, I could not consciously eat a whole "fat bag" like I used to! I can't believe that about your BIL - I can't believe it was that high! mabear - I hope I didn't offend you. I was just trying say that sometimes being thin isn't all that's cracked up to be. BUT oh yeah, I totally know what you mean about putting something in my mouth without a second thought...like those "fat bags" ahahahaha....I crack me up! The dreaded E-word! Good for you for doing two workouts! Proud of you! :) curvyqueen - Wow! Congratulations on the 70 lbs. Good for you. Welcome to the club! It's a great place for support and motivation. tabby - I hope things are looking up for you. I'm glad you're back! Of course we missed you! So, what's been going on?? Tonight, I was very good. I went out to dinner and ordered something healthy and when it arrived, there was enough for three meals so, I only ate one meals worth and an extra half portion of the meat. It was soo good. When I got home, I was happy to find out that I'd only gone over my calories by 100. That is much better than what I would have done a few weeks ago. Plus, I walked home, which was about a mile. So, I'm very happy with how Saturday went. Hopefully, Sunday will be a just as good so that Monday's weigh in is beautiful! Gonna watch some movies....take care! |

Hi to everyone! Welcome new ones...hope you are feeling right at home on this board..:) Today I had an "ok" day. I stayed within my calories but, I did eat a jelly filled donut that had my name on it and it just kept calling to me..."Rockin, Rockin...I'm over here looking so delicious and tantilizing....you knwo you want me". Sooooo , I ate him. Showed him eh? lol. Oh well still stayed within my calories. :) But I sure can't do that everyday. Pizza! I had a post under recipes asking for all low cal ways of making pizza. People on here gave me awesome ideas....sooo goood. I tried quite a few of them and they were delicious.:P curvy- welcome! 70 lbs...I'm impressed...good for you. Now give us your secrets....lol :P smiley- welcome to you too. The girls and boys on here are awesome. Tabby- hey girl I've been wondering where you went off too. How are ya girl? I want to take this time too to thank, hye, blue, vk, and lornajean for all the encouragement you've given me this past week. Couldn't have gone through this without you all. I'm gonna try your suggestions and I'm going to also just try not taking myself so seriously. So I'm losing slowly...so what. I feel better and I know I'm living alot healthier then I have been the past few years. I'll get there one day. so it may take a little longer than I thought...oh well...but I will get there. Big hugs to you all. |

Hello. Gosh I feel good again today! I think besides losing weight I really am feeling better overall. First time a diet has had that benefit for me. Guess this really is the way to go.
That is something, bj, about your BIL. Wow it does make you think. Crazy. mabear.. glad you're doing better and good for you for the exercize. sorry, can't help with your questions. welcome curvy, glad to see you here. You've come so far, that is so inspiring. Glad you're back tabby! good job with your dinner hye. It always kind of surprises me when I actually do what I should. Know what I mean? I'm real glad mama that we could help. Not taking yourself too seriously seems like a very good thing for all of us. I had a really great time today with my daughter. We went to portland and went shopping and it was just a ton of fun. My husband really doesn't enjoy cities and Mindy and I do so we decided to go together more often. It was a beautiful day and I got a lot of walking in. And I'm so excited cuz I found some Birkenstocks on sale for only 40 bucks! Kinda freaked me out because there was a sticker on the side that said "made in China" and I thought they are supposed to be made in Germany. A little suspicous but they have all the Birkenstock things on them so if they're fakes they're pretty good. Well, I've been playing all day and the dishes and laundry are calling . hugs to everyone!!! |

welcome curvy---great name!! welcome back tabby--- I for one did definitely miss you!! I've been gone a few days, and now I feel out of sync and out of touch, and out of the loop. Hopefully, I can "fit" back in soon. I'm off my pity pot b/c I measured and have lost 9 inches. That definitely helps my spirit. Good luck to those that weigh in on Sundays. oh, and on the pizza thing....we tried Lean Cuisine brick style pizza today. VERY good! I had the gourmet mushroom pizza and added jalepenos. It was yummy. just a little fyi |

Ok guys, Confession time.... The big round fat pill wasn't hard to swallow at all. i did just fine. And guess what, it even tasted really good. however, i ate the pizza at dinner and only 2 pieces. Not too bad. The bad part was the DARK CHOCOLATE M&Ms!!!! Those little bits of poison nearly did me in. The only good thing about them is they do have a smidgen of fiber and are better for you than regular milk chocolate. I am barely under my calories. I'm so close to going over that i'm at the top of a hill looking down a deep dark (chocolate) tunnel. 1768 for the day. I am trying to stay between 1500 and 1800. 1500 would be best but I seem to get to the point where I just want to keep eating, so I think maybe for now, I need to keep my calories a bit higher than 1500. I'm also drinking or at least trying to drink LOTS of water before and after I eat to help fill me up... i just try to stay fairly close to places that have restrooms.
Did someone say shopping? What is that? Seems like I remember something about it but it was many moons ago. The only thing I can associate it with right now is groceries and kids.... Is this right? One day maybe I will be able to experience this novel recreation! (and not at Layne Bryant's). BTW, I really enjoy looking at all the creative names. i wish I would have come up with something a little more creative. I was just trying to create something i could remember easily. I have so many passwords and userids to remember as it is, I chose the easiest thing I could come up with. |

| ooo i just saw that bacardi make an island breeze that has a lowe alcohol content adn lower calories. so you can trick yourself into taking in fewer calories during your drinking period by just making hte same drinks but w/ the low cal liquor. mmmm i need to go buy some | ||

| Hey ktcort ... "Crystal Light" and little splash ;) of vodka or rum makes a pretty "refreshing" little summer cocktail. You can even use tequila, if you want, for those "Wasting Away in Margaritaville" days. Cheers!!! | ||

Hey everyone!! Great news, I lost 4 pounds! This has been my first week on CC and I LOVE IT I feel awesome :) |

YES!!!!! 2 pounds down from last week. YES!! I'm a half pound from my 20 pound mark, so if it's ok with you guys I'm going to celebrate as 20 pounds gone. Already got my Birky's so I'm good to go.
blj...dark chocolate tunnel...that was a good one. Itsmytime...9 inches...yeah!!! Jackattack...that's awsome, great way to start! |

9 inches, itsmy? That is terrific!! The best way to lose is to lose slowly, though I wish it was as easy for me to remember when I am frustrated as it is for me to tell others...lol. And I definitely missed you too!! wtg blue...2 pounds is awesome! congrats!! 4 pounds your first week, jack...terrific!! Keep up the good work! I am not counting calories as much as doing WW now, but I am still going to hang with all of you until I have to leave, if that is okay...I miss you guys too much when I am gone...and I still need the support! I have my first weigh-in on Monday, but I have stuck to my points all week without cheating...no regular soda...no candy unless it is sugar-free...so we will see! Last night the family had pizza and I stopped at McDonald's and got myself a salad...that was a success for me...another success was fitting a chicken quesadilla in my points for the day on Friday...it was delicious and I enjoyed every minute of it...I am doing better at eating more regular food and not so much frozen or pre-packaged food...I just have to keep it up and remember that I am not going to lose it all once just like I did not gain it all at once...I was 228.6 when I weighed in at WW last Monday...so I am going to start the paper clip chain this Monday evening...and keep it going in the right direction, I hope... blj...I have been down the dark chocolate tunnel...it is wonderful but you pay for it in the end...way to go staying on the edge and not falling in...it is easy to do! Oh Rockin...you sure showed that jelly doughnut who is boss, huh? lol...but hey, you ate it, enjoyed it, and still stayed under your calories...if that isn't a success, I don't know what is...this is a lifestyle change...you can't go your entire life saying you will never eat another jelly doughnut...not realistic...so eat it, enjoy it, and woohoo!!! |

Woohoo Itsmy, jack and blue! A loss is a loss is a loss!!!
Me on the other hand fell way down that slippery slope last night. I don't know what the f--- happened. I hit around 2300 calories! OMG, that is the first time I've done that since I started here. Who would've thunk that much watermelon would cost me that many calories. I knew I was pushing my luck with the beer last night, but watermelon?? I really should've checked the calories by quantity on it first. I figured it's mostly water, how much harm could it do? Grant it the beer and watermelon weren't alone but they cost me 800+ calories.. I had a ton of brocolli, strawberries, and cucumber slices, but altogether it didn't come near those two. Sniff, sniff...and weigh in is tomorrow.. :( Gotta shake it off....I gotta look at the bright side of the coin. Um...at least I've been peeing like a racehorse... :( sniff, sniff. |
