| yeahh, the cheese thing is hard because most of the time I'm eating in the school dining hall. Are there any types of cheese that are naturally lower in fat than others? Like parmesan instead of cheddar or feta? | ||

Gina It cant be any worse than me last week LOL. its hard to get back on track. I wanted to eat everything in site last week and make a pig of myself. I upped my cals and now Im better. I just have to excercise so I can eat more. Rachel Ill take the leftovers so I dont have to cook. I have to mow my yard now that I picked all the toys off the ground yesterday. Storm...Mozzerella? Question about Week 1 - it says I can have juice but no fruit - I have an orange with me today at work -- i can have orange juice but not an orange. Do you think having the orange is okay. Also, I have another question.....do you think its important to stick to meals or will it work if I just eat protein and vegetables whenever I feel like eating and not specifically 3x a day? Thanks for the help. |

| I didnt think you could have fruit or juice for the first phase, Did they change things again? The only juice Ive ever seen in the first phase is Veggie juice like V8. On a good note the whole fruit is always better than just its juice cause it still has all its fiber. | ||

Oh - Thank you. I have been to so many websites reading about this diet and now I can't seem to find where I saw that you can have juice. Maybe I was reading the wrong list (things you cannot have). I'll toss the orange out and pick up some meat, eggs or lettuce. LOL. What's your thoughts on eating only at meal times? Do you think it matters? Oh - also, can I put lowfat milk in my coffee? Anyway, i am so excited now cause I just read that during week 1, not only will you lose quite a few pounds, IT WILL COME FROM MY BELLY!!!!!!

Storm, please know that you are certainly welcome to modify the plan or apply it as you choose and my comments are coming strictly from SB guidelines as I understand them. Ive definitely modified it so again, Im not pointing fingers. That said, the first things that strikes me is the lack of snacks - SB emphasises 3 daily snacks to keep metabolism up. Another is the cheese and I unfortunately dont know of one thats naturally low fat. Lastly, is the lack of beans which are encouraged as a 1/3-1/2 cup daily - very filling, nutritious and helps prevent constipation. I understand your restrictions with school but in general your plan looks healthy. sjklov, Sarah is right - fruit juice is avoided on SB for phase 1 *AND* 2 (although in 2, allowed 'rarely' but whole fruit returns after week 2. If youre getting plenty of protein and veg, I dont think breaking it up in a different time pattern is a problem as long as your avoiding going for a long period without eating. Again, modification is normal among us :D but the closer we stick to plan the better it works for us. |

I hadnt heard about the earthquake but read its outside San Antonio area. Rachael, you must be so pumped about leaving so soon! I would be :D. Gina, we'll have a good week with time before Thursday weigh in.
Bee - wondering how fun it is buying clothes now that your almost at goal and that May clothes spree is something to look forward too! Sarah- lawn mowing sounds like a workout! Beware of TX lizards - they might be out already :P. Speaking of workouts, I became an overdue cleaning maniac! I didnt realize there were so many things to clean in a kitchen. Plus cleared off my counters, putting much in cabinets - I HATE clutter in my house, weighs down my brain. Home much but between the clothes (much trying on and carrying from closet to closet) and serious cleaning, know I burned some and that is such a factor in my losing. |

Hi Guys - I have another question about beans -- I read how important it is to have those beans in your diet during Phase I so I went and bought a can of red kidney beans.....now, my question is......what are you guys eating these beans with? I've had beans in burritos and in chili and I've had baked beans but never really just ate plain beans....do you just heat them up and eat them 'as is' or do you toss them into your salad? Thank you all for helping me to get going with this diet...I am really hoping this one works for me. :)

I also like black beans most, maybe too much. I can definitely go for them straight but have enjoyed them mashed like refried beans without the oil to refry them. A nice touch is some chopped raw onion and/or cilanto too. Also they make scrambled eggs more enjoyable.
Big clean out - food from my desk (as I work from home). Initally it made sense since it was SO hard to walk but now all I have here is my crystal light an jug of water because I dont it helps me to keep the fluids coming. Otherwise, just the little getting up and down is helpful plus deciding whether I really want to get up to eat something. |

No matter how hard I try, I just don't like beans.
