Thanks krismasself! Bubblebath sounds wonderful! I usually am in front of the tube or here on the computer. And you're right....it's not really mindless. Hot tea, bubble bath maybe even turning in earlier (hubby would love that). Great motivational ideas. I'll try one tonight and let you know how I do manana. Thanks Lisa, for the heads up on the pretzel sticks. I'll have to go get a bag. Kiddo's ran out of their not so healthy snacks and finished off my bag, so no "mindful" munching for me tonight anyway. Have a great evening all |

I'm glad my suggestions were helpful. I thought of you last night as I sat down to watch Dancing with the Stars, and reminded myself to go make a large mug of tea to consume while watching all those beautiful bodies! Salty, set short term goals for yourself, and do it one day at a time. Sometimes we sabotage ourselves by setting impossible goals! |

Today has been the longest day ever. Well, yesterday was long too, so the last TWO days have been the longest days ever. =) I went and got an ultra sound yesterday and it turns out that my gall bladder needs to be taken out. Wonderful, right? I'm not exactly excited about that one because it means I may have to take time off from school to get the procedure done and I only have each class once a week. My life is becoming more and more stressful as the days go by AND I've got my monthly which means I'm not losing any weight.
I seem to have really slowed down in my weight loss journey. I may actually have to start exercising to bring my losses back again. I'm not happy about that either as exercising is annoying and terrible. =) Work should let everyone take a nap after lunch. Should be a requirement. *yawn* |

| My overall goal is to lose 100 pounds too, but I can't think of it that way or it just seems impossible. So my goal is to make improvement - that way, you can reach your goal over and over with the successes of each day. | ||

Rebepi, I know what you are saying about excersize....It's not the first thing I want to do either...or the last thing.....I just don't want to do it. What I'm trying to do is get outside for a walk. A nice walk and just enjoy the air and the sounds. Time seems to go by quickly and I actually enjoy it and look forward to my next walk. I also don't beat myself over the head when I can't or don't get out. Instead I'll try and put some fun music on and dance around while I clean.....makes the chores more fun too. Salty 91, WELCOME!!!!! As for my late night snacking, I didn't end up doing so well.....I actually was pretty bad. So, for tonight I plan to go to bed at 9:30...maybe read. |

| Salty91 welcome. How is everyone doing today? I hope OK. I agree with you guys on the exercising. I really do like to walk outside though. But it is hard to do because by the time I get home and finished with dinner it is dark outside and my hubby won't let me walk in the dark. I have a treadmill but that is so boring. | ||

I don't care much for exercising either, but I know it helps, so I find things I can do that don't make me annoyed or stressed...like walking. And I do enjoy exercising in the pool, though it's taken me a couple of years to find one near home. Getting dark early is cramping my style too. And it's still dark when I wake up, so I hesitate to get out there to walk. But I know that's just making excuses! After all, the Mall is open at 6AM for walkers, right? Treadmill sure is boring! But can you put it in front of the TV and watch the news asn walk? Time management, right...doing 2 things at once! I love the idea of dancing while houselceaning... I may actually enjoy that chore if I think of it as dancing...LOL! I like the goal "make improvements"...or how about "no excuses"??? |

| My friend just told me about this website today. I found out that I am borderline type 2 diabetes yesturday so now I have a whole lot of work to do. I am weighing in at 237 and would love to get back down to my high school weight of 140. Hopefully only being out ten years doesnt put that to far out of reach. I am the kind of person who loves to be in control over everything but can't seem to get in control of my weight. Hopefully I can find some other people who know exactly what I am talking about and can help be there to encourage me and vice versa. | ||

| Welcome Trisha! I think I know what you are saying about the struggle for control and weight. My therapist (YES Therapist) put a great spin on it for me. He told me that I am struggling to control things that are out of my hands and shrugging off the things that I CAN control (i.e. my weight). I don't know if this helps you at all, but it put a great spin on things for me. I'm still learning to let go of the things I can't manage (i.e my husband hee hee) and listen to that small voice inside of me that says "just have a bite....you're not hungry enough for the whole chocolate cake." | ||

Talk to your " Inner Child" . Would you let your own child eat like you do? Talk to yourself like a child. When you think you want junk food. What would you say to a to your son or daughter if they asked for a cookie or cake or chips? Just a thought for the day "What would you say to a child ?" Good night everyone! Lora |

I had a treadmill yrs ago and ended up not using it cuz it was sooooo boring! so I gave it away last yr to some friends and I am so glad its gone it took up so much space! Well I'm off to get the boys ready for school then go walking with the playgroup to find some treasures like acorns and leaves with our lil ones, should be fun. have a great day everyone. |

I'll post up too. I need to lose at least 181. When I started I was at 406. I'd be happy at 225. Just got into the 360's today.
369 I'm about 20% of the way there. |

| Welcome Trish and Trainwreck! Wonderful, 20% of your loss goal already accomplished! We know you will have some great ideas to share! I totally understand the control thing. "Our lives were unmanageble when..." is a quote from my OA book. Like when I couldn't restart the computer in time to meet a friend on messenger this AM, or that I couldn't recall a password for another site, or when I had forgotten to prepare some paperwork.... So today I must realize that the only thing I CAN control is my response to these annoyances! I am committing to all of you today that my response will not be to overeat! I've logged in my plan for today, and I pledge to stick to it! | ||

So, my clothes are getting really big for me and I'm going to start giving them away soon and I wanted to ask you guys first if anyone here would be interested in any of them. Mostly pants as I can still wear the shirts.
They're mostly 24's. Some of the jeans have only been worn a few times, but some of the bottoms of them are a little beat up because of walking on them. But otherwise in good shape. I have a bunch of capri style pants/jeans that also will not fit next summer when I wear them again. I don't know if anyone would be interested in those either. Let me know and we can work something out. |

| How about setting up a separate thread titled "clothing exchange"?? Many of us have several sizes in our closets, and as we lose lbs, we cannot afford to keep buying new smaller things till we get to goal. For many of us that'd be several wardrobes! One's discarded "fat" clothes may be another's right size, or vice versa. | ||

| I am new I just started I am at 240 and want to get down to 150-160 according to the BMI I should weight 120-130. No way I look too skinny if I am any smaller then 150. I have a hard time staing on a diet and exercising. The nearest gym is 50 miles away and having to drag my soon to be 2 yr old with me. I use to be on teh swim team in high school plus walk home 4 miles after practice and the go bike riding, now I just hang out at home and walk the mall on weekends. I need a buddy system that will help me stay on track. | ||

| Welcome Joanna! Most of us realize that the goals set by some mathematic equation may not be suitable for us in real life. My calculation also suggested 130, and I know I look too old and saggy below 150! Motivation, support, encouragement...that's what we're here for...to help each other! You mentioned walking at the Mall. Is it so far away that you couldn't walk 2 or 3 times a week, even pushing the little tyke in a stroller? The Mall near me opens at 6AM for walkers. And, no, they're not ALL senior citizens! Take the time to explore this website and all it has to offer. There is so much good information here. We'll be rooting for you!! | ||

Welcome to all the newcomers.
Does anyone use a pedometer? I had one I was using that I paid like $2.00 for and when I went to walk at the lake it said I was walking 1.8 miles. I bought a knew one yesterday and went walking and it said I walked 2.6 miles. I don't know which one to believe. The new one I bought was $8.00 so I am assuming that the more expensive one is right. I am going to use the new again and see if it gives me the same number. The old one gave me a different number all the time |

| I checked my pedometer by driving a route and checking the odometer in the car. They vary so in price and mechanism, and mostly based on your "stride" which can also vary greatly. The other thing I noticed is that mine will also "click" a stride if I laugh or shout!! | ||
