I'm looking for a 130/120 club, but I don't see any topics started.

If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?

Thank you :)

simi -- congrats on the new job, it sounds perfect for you.  That is awesome that you play piano,  I have always wanted to learn an instrument but never seem to find the time."  I know that is a stupid excuse but after graduate school I will have to make it a priority.   Your old boss sounds like a jerk, glad to hear you do not have to put up with him much longer.  ( I can not believe he hung up on you, talk about tacky).  Makes me love my boss, even more.   She is great regardless but everytime I hear horror stories like that, I like her even more.

yeah, sorry the pic is so dark (the lights were on in the bathroom I swear).  I will have to get a proper pic taken by my hubby with some better lighting.   But he was not home last night and I was bored and I curious what my back looked liked, so I was just taking the pic for myself.  Then thought "what the hell?"  I will post it too.

I pee like every 45 minutes too, I always think the ladies down the hall gives me a weird look when i go past their office to the bathroom for the 6th time that day.  They probably think I have diabetes...  And they are Dieticians, so I am sure it is only a matter of time until they approach me about it.  They are a funny group, they love to eat but are all very fit.

Jen ~ your back looks hot! Yes, get a lighter picture up -- that's a back to be proud of and show off!  Total inspiration for me. I want my back to look like that!  I did that butt plier squat thing yesterday at the gym. It worked my inner thighs more than my butt.  Did you notice that as well?

Simi ~ congrats on the new job! I LOVE the piano. I used to play when I was younger - for five years. Took a very brief refresher course at my local community college last year - but it was right before my wedding and had to drop out b/c of the time commitment.  I believe I will one day soon go back and take up lessons again.  The piano and acoustic guitar are my favorite instruments in music (except I cannot play guitar).

down .2 #s this a.m.  A small drop, but a drop nevertheless.  Happy Tuesday ladies. (going to fill up my water bottle now.....)

I reached my goal weight ( i was trying to gain weight btw) I went from 110lbs to 126lbs toned with muscle [=. Im 5'7.

Theres pictures in my profile of all my progress [=
yes it works my inner thighs too.  I do split-legged squats before I do that though so my butt is already tired.  And i really focus on that mind-muscle connection during the lift to target my butt more (flexing throughout the lift).  Also making sure that you drive the weight up through your heels (not toes), as this also helps to focus the workout more on your butt but the inner thighs still get it good.

When you are doing squats (plier or normal) picture spreading the floor with your feet, it helps the form.
ornellanicole --  congrats on the gain!  I am also trying to build muscle.  Could you tell us more about your workout/eating routine??
Hey Ornella - your name is one letter off from my maiden last name.  How interesting! (Hence the "o" at the end of my log-in name).

dang Jen - she's bringing sexy back - lol

ok, so I will fill up on my water and see if that makes a difference with the fluctuations.

Simi - congrats on the new job.  I think you will find this one much more enjoyable since you will be involved in something you are passionate about.

brianne - you are on your way back down - whoo hoo!

Jen--Great back picture!  Wow! You look awesome!  Words can't describe it....seriously.

Bri--Welcome back from your honeymoon.  I'm sure those couple of pounds were well worth it.  But, it looks as though your already back on track! Way to go :)

So I will be first to report in. Proud to say that one week after TOTM and one week into eating protein on a regular basis I am down.. one pound :)

Begining Weight: 132 Jan 15th

Last Week:  129

This Week: 128 :)

Let's hear all the good news guys! I can't wait to see how we are all doing!

Good morning and Happy Wednesday.  It's especially happy for me because I have Thursday and Friday off and we are going to Las Vegas for a quick little weekend getaway.  Hoping to have some sunshine and do some shopping :)

Still all over the place with my weight.  I weighed 124.4 on Monday after a weekend of eating horrible!  You know when you're at grandma's house you can't say...."Gosh, I don't want to eat that, it has a lot of butter in it."  Grandmas certainly don't know how to cook healthy!  I should probably stop weighing myself so much--becuase I was 125 on Tuesday and 126 this morning!  If I would have only weighed in on Monday, I would have been a happy camper.

I hope everyone else has a great weigh in today like Simi :)  One pound--awesome!

today is slow at work, blessedly, completely unlike yesterday, where i thought i may burst an anuerism.

126.6 today. last night tried on the suit pants i bought in january on clearance, straining seams then, fit PERFECTLY now!!!! so i got a whole suit for $36!!! woot woot. i suppose i should look for a higher paying, more appropriate job now, though this gig was great right out of school for a (paid)rest before i bought my car, while planning the wedding, and getting settled with the new house.

off to lunch peeps!

simi-  congrats on the weight.  You are doing great and the best part is because you are eating all that protein you know the weight lost is fat not lean mass.  Keep up the great work.

gretamarie -- ahh that sounds nice, enjoy your extended weekend.  I am already daydreaming about my three-day weekend at the end of March :)   I totally understand about grandma's.  Sometimes you just can not say no.  But it seems you are doing awesome regardless and I will count your 124.4 :)

hbbroadbent -- yay! for clothes being looser.  How fun.

Now for my weigh in:

Started at: 143# on December 28, 2007

Current weight: 134.4#  from this morning

I am only down .2# from last week, which I was expecting because I dropped almost 2# the week before.  But to stay on track, I may not do a cheat meal this Friday (We will see.  I am not promising anything at this point but strongly considering it).

goal weight: 130# by April 1

I am also may try running this evening at the gym.  This would be the first time since getting sick I have run.  But it will depend on what time I get off work today because my husband has to be up for work at 4:30am the next morning for work, so I can not keep him late at the gym tonight.  And we have to work shoulders today no matter what.  So here is to getting off at a respectable hour.
131! w00t! it's an all time low since I have been trying to lose weight and I am thrilled! Thanks guys!
My weigh in is not so great.  I wasn't able to work out yesterday and consumed a lot of sodium.  So I am up 1# from yesterday and am at 133.2.  The good news is I know that next week wednesday's weigh-in should show (hopefully) a nice drop.  I will get to the gym today and drink lotsa water to drop this extra sodium water weight.  bleh........  congratulations on the nice weigh ins ladies!

hey didn't get a chance to read everyone's posts (will do it tmrw), but wanted to put up my weekly post.

Last week:  130.5

this week:  127.5 (don't know if this will last, like i said i've been fluctuating a lot between 130 an 127)

Jennifer - Good to see you doing your best...even though you aren't feeling well...130.5 is still great and fluctuations happen and they suck...haha...not that you didn't know that...(tryingbut you're still going a great job!

Brianne - I hear ya about the sodium....w/ my t.o.t.m. this week, I feel extra 'ugh' and think I've been consuming more of that these last few days.....though you are doing great! Yes, lots of water...that's my plan too...to drink as many big cups of ice water that I can today (esp. b/c I already had my indulgent med. cup of coffee from Dunkin Donuts! haha!) :D

Chairmanmeow - Wonderful for the 131...whoohoo!

Jen - I would have to say, I think you are one of the best posters here...you are like our group leader, you are so inspiring and I think have helped us all with your motivating comments! Wonderful job on your progress! Go you! ;D

Simi and Hbbroadbent - I agree with Jen and the others...SO great to hear about your progress too! :D Keep it up ladies!! :D

Gretamarie - I'd have to say I'm jealous..hahahah...a long weekend in Vegas...wow! Well have a great time and keep up the wonderful progress!  Vegas, as BL showed last week, is full of temptatins (hence Sin City), but everything in moderation (as my trainer tells me), so go have a great time!

Ok...so I guess I've used the word 'great' a lot...umm...well sorry for the repetitiveness...:(

I just want to do what I can to be a positive voice to you all as well. :D I know that in our daily lives (even if we do have support from our loved ones) there are plenty of ppl. we know that aren't always so positive or are around to tempt us (even though they don't always mean to). I guess even though this forum adds a bit of 'virtual support'...I still want to add my encouragments to all you ladies! Everyone really is doing......Fantastic! (see I didn't use 'great'! ;D). Keep it up!

Btw, speaking of others tempting us...case and point, just a few mins. ago, one of my co-workers called me to tell me that their dept. had donuts and coffee cake if I wanted any...I said thanks, but no thanks.  I was proud of myself! I said no (though I was nice about it. :D). It's a small step in the right direction!

Also, I think out of the group as a whole...I'm probably one if not the only one that is on the higher end of 130's...:/ so it's SUCH an inspiration to me to see all of you doing so great with your low 130's to mid-low 120 weights....You're all already so beautiful, though getting healthier for yourselves is that much more appealing, isn't it!?!!! :D

Well, I didn't weigh in yesterday, but I weighed in on Monday and I was 138.8

It being my t.o.t.m, I am positive that's why I am on the higher end of 130 at the moment, but I look forward to forging on and keeping up with my exercise and eating right and to see the water weight go down in a few more days! :D

Plus, I tried to have a good breakfast too this morning....I made myself a breakfast burrito (soo good!). :D I used turkey bacon, liquid egg whites, sliced fresh mushrooms, orange bell pepper, grape tomatoes, some shredded mozz. cheese all on a whole wheat wrap. :) It may have had a bit more sodium in it b/c of the turkey bacon, but right now I don't feel as hungry...so I hope it is a good thing. :D Plus, I have a banana w/ me at work for my mid-morning snack. :D

ANYWAY...Blah blah blah....

Have a good Thursday everyone! :D

So I know today isn't a weigh in day but I had to post.... For the very first time (besides college years back) I stepped on the scale and it said a solid 127!!!!  I was like.. this can't be right, so I got off and got back on like three times and each time it stayed at 127.  So I'm really excited and guess what guys, I had breakfast this morning (and yesterday morning) full of protein and the whole egg, not just the whites (I just can't give it up yet!).  So I'm happy to say that I lost weight eating the yellow stuff :)

Margo is right, this forum means so much to me.  The first thing I thought about after I got on that scale this morning was... the girls are going to be so proud of me!!!  I never NEVER would have made this without all of your input and advice.  That is the cold honest truth.  I owe you all big time.  Now... five more pounds to go.. this will be the hardest stretch I feel like.

Last night at the gym I did the elipticals.  I never did that before,  I always just ran, plain running.. and now my calf on my left leg is sooo sore.  Why on earth would that be? Just one leg?  It feels really tight even though I stretch for a good five minutes before and like... fifteen minutes after each workout.  Any advice?  Besides my already hatred for this new machine.

Simi - SO awesome that you're at a solid 127. :D  That is my goal for late May actually.  Terrific job!

Glad to know that you agree....the motivation and inspiration on this forum is fantastic! :D

Good job everyone! :)

Great that you are eating breakfast too...:) even w/ the whole egg. :D I am a real egg person myself...but have tried the egg whites lately and they are alright....as long as they are seasoned enough and/or have other things w/ them *veggies, cheese and such*. :D

As for the elliptical trainer...first thing, congrats at your 1st attempt at that machine! Though I'm not sure I have a lot of advice...but can give what  I know from my personal experience..though minimal w/ that machine. :D

I have tried the elliptical a few times and I think when I have used it, I found my knees hurt... I think it may be the form of motion not being correct.  There seems to be a proper way you have to use that machine for it to be as effective and not cause injury...like cross country sking or whatever.   I think one has to get into a motion to where you aren't putting strain on your legs/knees.  Maybe your leg hurting (even if it's just 1 leg) was because of something in the form?? Just my opinion....

Anyone else with some help for Simi and some advice in general about the elliptical?

I've found that since I couldn't get the motion down right and I found it hurt my legs/knees, I stopped trying after 2-3 tries...and just stick to the treadmill or occasional recumbant bike.

Well, anyway, hope you find success w/ that machine! :D Good luck! :D

-Margo

I missed the weigh in yesterday....so anyhow, weighing in at 129.9...Still looking for the 128.5 I saw before vacation.  I've exchanged my regular Tae Bo workout twice a week with walking 4-5 miles w my friend who just started working out.  Not quite the burn that I'm used to, so I've been walking with a 10# weight in a back pack.  I think it's not so good for my back.  Any ideas on what to do?  I really want to walk with her to keep her motivated, but feel that it's kinda slowing down my progress.  I feel a little selfish to think that way.....I should just not be so obsessive, and maybe just watch the calories better for those walking days.

Anyhow, it's nice to see the progress ladies!  Good job! Self discipline around yummy high calorie treats is a hard task isn't it?  Stay strong!

Hi Burnyh, :)

Glad to hear you are walking with your friend. :) I understand about wanting to keep up w/ your progress while still wanting to help motivate your friend. It's totally understandable.

My opinion on how to keep your progress w/o slowing down would be to walk with weights in your hands (rather than in the backpack cuz that would hurt the back..:/). Maybe walk w/ 5lbs. (or so) in each hand.

Then maybe talk with your friend about options for challenging each other so that you both can keep to your personal goals.  Btw, how long are your walks? How many times a week?

I guess even w/o that knowledge, I'd just say, maybe some challenges for one another are for you to add weights to your walks, even if the speed is a little slower than you are used to, then maybe you can add some extra cardio. before or after the walk to keep on track for yourself.

Then maybe every once in a while, as more of a challenge for your friend, is for you guys to do something like intervals...where you both walk at the same pace for a little ways and then if you want to walk faster *w/ the weights even* to increase your movement, then maybe she can start to jog up to your pace and you do that for a short while (seconds/mins, depending on your fitness levels), then go back to the same speed of walking and continue the interval of you walk faster while she jogs to keep up, etc. I hope that sounds as correct as I'm thinking of it in my head...:/

Maybe you guys can also do something of interval training instead of just walking....like doing a certain amount of jumping jacks, then push ups, then crunches, and do that as part of your warm up. Even if you only do 5 of each, etc....

Anyway...good luck! Hope that is of some help....;D (and not more confusion...(err). :D
