was at the gym last night, went on their scales, and I was marking 142.9.... and at home I am 147.... so love the gym scales more than my own.... cannot WAIT for my digital scales to arrive.

had a great workout. Did weights and stretching last night. Didn't increase my weights, just had a solid workout. I was happy with it.

Went home and had a tasty dinner. Basa fish baked in the oven with my crumble topping (breadcrumbs, parmesean cheese, chili peppers, pepper, salt, oregano), with brown and wild rice and veggies. Yum!!

tonight I have my last pole dancing workout... it was fun!! certainly a different take on exercise!! I think I will start doing yoga once this class is done, to work on my flexibility.

hi everyone! i'm 5'5" 160 lbs. my goal is to get down to 120-125 lbs. i've always been around the 130's range but then i gained a lot of weight after i moved home from LA. i think i watched what i ate more when i was living in LA because of the people around me.

anyway i hope chatting with you guys helps keep me motivated and on track! good luck everyone! :)

#83 mish_arsenau May 28 2008 16:57

woke up this morning feeling great!! jumped on the scale, and I am down another pound... yeah!! I had my last pole dancing class last night, and it was a lot of fun. Who knew I would be able to twirl myself around a pole. Now to find a yoga class that I want to start....

ate fairly healthy. I had lots of fresh veggies in the house, so I made a chicken and veggie pasta (whole grain Kamut pasta) with some olive oil and lots of herbs and spices, then topped it with a bit of parm. super tasty dinner. Met up with a friend later in the evening and had a glass of wine... stopped after one glass, then switched to water.

I have started bringing 2L of liquids to work with me in the morning. I start my day with 500mL of chai tea, with a bit of skim milk and less than 1 tsp of natural cane sugar. Then I have 500mL of green tea with lemon. Then 1L of water in the afternoon. I am running to the waskroom at least once every two hours, but I am feeling fairly cleansed.

will be paddling tonight with my team for 1.5 hrs, and walking the dogs (5km walk) Took out some fish for dinner, now to figure out what to do with it!!

Sometimes it's just a state of mind.

I'm feeling thinner and am generally pleased with what I see in the mirror lately, and to me, that's definitely a good thing.

However, I started my period today and really, really want to get Panchero's burrito for lunch instead of the good stuff I packed.

EEK!

I just got the Wii Fit and I've been using it for the past week and I think it's really helped me a lot. I really don't like exercising but the Wii Fit makes it fun. I used it for a week and lost 3lbs but I slacked off for 4 days and gained it all back. I think that if you use it 30 minutes a day, everyday you should see some results.

I just don't understand how I gained 3lbs in 4 days. That's almost a pound a day. Isn't that really quick to put on weight? Does this happen to anyone else?

#86 sinead738 May 28 2008 17:45
I am 5' 5" and a half and 140 lbs
My goal weight is 125 but i would ultimately like to be 115.
I just had a baby 4 and a half weeks ago and have already lost 30.5 lbs. 12 during delivery and the rest has just slowing been melting off with breast feeding and daily walks.
#87 tammy_180 May 28 2008 18:09

WOW sinead, that is a lot of baby weight lost already.I couldn't breast feed so mine came off real slow. 30.5 pounds in 4.5 weeks is a lot of weight. Keep up the great work. I know how hard it is to lose after you had a baby.

now that the sun is shining in Calgary, it seems that my mood and my self esteem have increased dramatically. I am feeling good about myself, and when that happens, I tend to be more active. Last night I had the dogs out for about an hour and a half walk, went to the park, then to the grocery store to get some more fresh veggies and oranges for my lunches. Then went down for my paddling practice, and it was an endurance night. Paddled 3 x 2000m pieces. It was tiring, but a lot of fun. Felt really good after that.

I was walking though the mall yesterday on lunch, and there was a chiropractor out offering free alignment tests. So, I popped on, and turns out that I am perfectly aligned. Neat...

I will be getting out for a run this after noon after work. Looking forward to that.

it is nice to be in such a good mood!!

#89 buhri113 May 29 2008 17:55

Princess, it's cool you like your Wii Fit, if I can find one I'll be buying one today after my hair cut. =) As for the 3lbs weight gain, I'm not sure. Do you weigh yourself at the same time every day roughly? Were you eating saltier foods than normal? Normal things like bloating could account for the extra weight.

Mish, YAY for feeling good! =D Random good moods are amazing and, kudos on the perfect alignment. ^^ I don't think I'm perfectly aligned.

You know, I never realized how busy life can get. Yesterday someone asked me what I was doing later and my mind just blanked. I knew I had a lot of homework to get done but... it was like I just didn't want to remember it. We're hitting finals which means I have projects to finish and a test to study for. I haven't been eating great (again) but I'm determined to stop doing that (and not having much food in the house helps with that). I'm going to enjoy my granola cereal with a banana snuck in there and leave to get my hair cut and get something for lunch at the grocery store.

Oh I have been doing bad these past few days. I tried really hard to do well yesterday but I failed. I made my own dinner, some zucchini, salmon, and rice and ate a good healthy amount but then a few hours later I went and had another dinner of KFC. I wasn't even hungry and I still ate it. This morning I was really feeling it too. But then I went and had another piece of chicken and ice cream today. Agh! I need some help with controlling myself.

i think i disapeared for a while!  i am maintaining for the last week b/c ive been geting hit with disabling migraines.  im glad you guys r making progress.  i think i will start again on monday hopefully.  i was having a hard time with eating 1200 cals even tho it was balanced. it was a lack of the feeling of fullness i get with overeating in the past.  i saw a thread about the fibre supplement Glucomannan and how awesome it is at making u feel full so i picked up a bottle at the nurition store near my house.  i researched it alot so we will see if it can stop the bottomless pit that is my stomach......
#92 buhri113 May 30 2008 04:11

So I got a Wii Fit today, went to work and my feet hurt even though I had my comfortable shoes on... got in the car and my shoulders and back hurt... Now my head hurts as well. I got something to help me be healthy and now I'm so uncomfortable I just want to go to bed. Ugh... Hope you guys are doing better than me.

#93 tammy_180 May 30 2008 15:20

Weighing in today: 154, down 3 from last week (down total of 98). Hopefully next week I will be at the 100 pound mark.

#94 mish_arsenau May 30 2008 16:38

Tammy - congrats!! that is an incredible amount of weight to lose!! great work and keep it going!!!

KishMish - good call on maintain when working through the migraines. last thing you need is to feel hungry and withhold nutrients when you are fighting that kind of pain.

Buhri - that totally sucks.... where you playing it for hours on end, or was it just using muscles that you have not used in a while... It'll get better!!! :)

Having another great day today. Weighed in this morning on my home scale, and it was marking 143. That is down 7 pounds from last week. Shows how much our bodies can fluctuate week to week. I don't know what I did differently this week, but I really hope that it stays off this time.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

#95 mrsdagle May 30 2008 16:42

I forgot to check in here, I checked in the seemingly-defunct 170's club but not here.  I'm down to 168, lost two pounds.  I didn't lose the previous week and I blamed water retention from the weather.

#96 amflasin May 30 2008 16:54

Hey, guys!  My name is Alina and I'm 21 and 5'4"-5'5", depending on the doctor I go to.  When I went to college and lived in the dorms, with the school food, I really packed it on, and my highest weight ever was 167.  I'm now at around 145, just from moving away from the school and a year of making my own food and having to walk a little further to class every day.  I've done a bunch of those online bmi-calculator thingies and they all seem to agree that my ideal weight is somewhere 123-128.  So, my long-term goal is 125 by . . . whenever?  Let's say mid-October, because that's when my foreign aunties are coming to visit and they promised to buy me new clothes.

Mostly I know I just need to exercise more, since my eating habits aren't all that bad.  I'm hopelessly lazy.  But I have a part-time job at the Y now (teaching kiddies how to swim) which comes with a complimentary gym membership, so I'll see if that can motivate me go actually go to the gym.  I really prefer to be outside, though, since gyms kind of, well, they kind of smell. It's going to be way too hot to go outside where I live soon, though, so I guess I'll just take advantage of it when I can and head to the gym the rest of the time.

Nice to meet you all!

#97 buhri113 May 30 2008 22:36

Mish, I played it for 20 minutes before my head started aching. It wasn't the Wii Fit that was making me achy though, I don't know what was. It started when I was at work, I came home and it got worse, I still got on the machine for 20 minutes but then my head hurt as well as my body so I went to sleep. Woke up this morning around 7am, still felt bad and since Friday's are my nothing days (unless I want to do work) I went back to bed and stayed there till I felt better.

Amflasin, it's cool you got a complimentary membership. I paid for one and... well, I haven't been in a long time. I want to end my membership and just work out at home. I think I have to wait until after June to end it though... anyway... Push yourself to go to the gym! And have fun at your job. I love babies. ^.^

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! Heh, I am actually going to weight in! Woot!

182lbs after working out and breakfast. I'm not doing great but if I start working harder I will do better!

#98 buhri113 May 31 2008 07:56

While last night I only got a 20 something minute work out in today (throughout the day) I got a whole hour in and I feel great! I did a mix of balance, aerobic, yoga, and strength training exercises. I did a fairly even amount of each of them using the Wii Fit. I played a lot with the balance games because those are fun but then I went to the Yoga and Strength training which once you get brave and try them out well, they're pretty awesome! I kept wanting to mute the yoga guy because every time he told me to 'lengthen my spine' or something along those lines, I lost my balance! =D Heh... but it was fun, my body feels good, like it did something.

Anyone doubting getting this game I'd say get it, it's awesome! I helped my 11 year old sister out with it (she's in the same obese boat as me) and she went right for the yoga and I talked her into some strength training. We're both very competitive so it was good that I started before her because every time she finished an exercise she wanted to see if she could 'beat' me. I hope I can keep her wanting to beat my scores (and hope I can keep beating her!) because I know she's slacking in her swim practices, hopefully this will help her do some new exercises to counteract her bad eating habits. Those I can't change, that's on my mother who is in denial. My mom worked out on the Wii Fit today as well, speaking of her, it was funny to watch her play the soccer balance game and get mad when shoes kept hitting her character. I hope she uses it a lot as well. It would be great if we could all get healthy together.

Speaking of... I really wanted strawberries today and I am always excited when I crave healthy food. Actually, strawberries and steamed broccoli sounded wonderful. So does that Chocolate Mint water that has no calories or sodium in it. Yum...

Woke up this morning feeling sooo sore! But it's good. Got another half hour in of aerobics and balance activities. Later I'll try for half an hour of strength training and yoga. Right now... lots of homework. I have a homework goal list to finish and it's 5:00 and I'm only now starting. Yikes... wish me luck.

#100 misskady Jun 01 2008 00:59

Hi everyone! I am 42, 5'6" and 184.5 lbs. I started at 195 and want to get to 155.  In my opinion, it is harder to lose weight in your 40's. But, like anyone else, you have to be motivated and just keep going.  I have days, okay, weeks, where I don't eat the right things, but, I just get back on the wagon and try to do better.
