Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
Funny about Fiber.... Ive been off an on weight watchers for years and now with all the new high fiber foods its so much easier to do WW. I think fiber helps me a bit with weight loss too.... If anyone knows of any high fiber foods please list them Im always looking for more.... Fiber One bars and cereal are really yummy and I use high fiber Arnolds Bread and high fiber light english muffins but always looking for more products....
Gained one pound this week:(
I only want to lose ten or so, but I'd love to join this group. I'm 5'11" and around 68 kg, which sounds all good, until I confess that my body fat percentage is around 32%. I'm trying to build some muscle and improve my fat %.
I forgot to weigh in. I lost 4.8 lbs my first week! Yeah! Down from 204 Friday before last to 199.2 this past Friday.
I'm sure this is because I made some MAJOR changes to my lifestyle this week. I completely quit eating junk and have kept my calories between 1200 and 1400 every day. I also have added exercise of some kind of every day. This is sure a nice start for me but I have a long way to go and I'll be happy if I can loose even half this much each week. ![]()
Awesome job Midwife!!! How does it feel to be under 200 lbs? Way to go! Woowoo!! *cheers*
welcome monkey--i'm there with you in the body fat...i'm working the weights too. looking for it to go down a lot!
skookum- holey cow! 4 lbs for you too!!! Yay!! Once it starts coming, it keeps coming for you, huh? GREAT JOB hanging in there...it paid off!
Thanks, Emberjem! I've been told that weights are key, and have been chugging away with them. I got lazy while away on a trip in the beginning of May and have had trouble getting back into it. I'm a bit fed up with my lazy self now :)
Okay where have all of you gone? I don't want to lose this thread!!! How are the diets? Exercise? How is your week? Em
I'm down another pound! I'm feeling better than I have in years.
I started water aerobics this week and loving it!

I hate that I can't just eat whatever I want!!!!!
BUT I've realized that logging all my calories is so helpful to my weight loss goals...not only does it make me pay attention to what I'm eating, but every single day that I eat well and keep my calories within my daily goal...it's like I've made a small accomplishment.
Last Thursay I weighed in at 195.6 - down from 197....but I didn't post it because my weight can fluctuate from day to day and I was convinced that it would be back up by Friday. On Saturday...it was back up :(
I've been doing really well this week though so I'm going to post my results on Friday no matter what! (Now that I've said that, I'm really gonna be keeping my fingers crossed!)
I'm 5'10" and weigh 148, my goal weight is 125-130 range - loosing fat is important, in fact I don't really care if i gain weight of muscle I just want my clothes from last year (when I weighed 125) to fit me again! so if I weight in the 140s but am very toned and lean I'll be happier than ever!
So now I'm doing cardio 4 times a week and will be starting regular intensive yoga this summer hopefully, and am trying to restrict my calorie intake to 1400 a day.
I also have that problem, of other praising me for my figure and how I look more 'womanly' from my weight gain, and that in fact I haven't gained weight at all, and they still deny that I've gained weight even after showing them before and after pics of me in a certain outfit!! (example: i have a dress that I wore loosely last year and that barely fits over my hips and bum today) So it's difficult for tall girls to lose the weight, there seems to be more denial around us of our weight gain, and it's true, weight gain is harder to see on a tall person.... :P
Good luck to all of you tall ladies!
Tiger Lilly: You have very similar stats and goals to me, I'm also 5' 10, im 139, 22 yrs old, can I ask you how thin were you at 125, my aim was originally 135, but I dont think that losing only another 4 pounds will make me look how I want to, so my new goal is 135 by June 29th and 130 by August and then maybe try to maintain that weight for life, im just curious as to how that weight looks, I started here at 145, so 6 pounds lost in about 6 weeks, but its been a lot of work outs and calorie restricting and im not sure where to go from here as I havent lost anything in a couple of weeks and it would be hard for me to eat any less, currently average 1300 cals per day. I know I need to eat less carbs so I'm planning to really try one day per week to begin with cutting down to 30% carbs, and maybe working that up to 2 days a week. Anyone tried anything similar?

Good Morning!!!!!!
I actually went up 4 lbs. on the scale... but like others I too gain and loose within one day... so I dont think I gained actual lbs. Weigh in looks like its always Fri. so Ill weight till than... my biggest problem seems to be getting enough water. Also, Im a chocoholic. This week Im feeling great though, Im only 26 and Im realizing how much more comfortable Im getting with my body as I am getting older. Men dont seem to notice the imperfections we do. I realized this when a very attractive 22 yr. old started to be attracted to me. For myself though, I still would like to loose more weight - one day- 38 inch hips.!!!!
I weighed in today at 155! Thats down 5 pounds since May 5th (at 5'10''). Also, I am soo excited because I got accepted into the New York Marathon yesterday! Its a lottery system to get in, so its not like I had to qualify, haha.
Last time I ran a full marathon (26.2 miles) was freshman year of college, and even with wayy too much drinking, and eating in the caf for all my meals, I dropped down to 140 (from a high of 155).
Does anyone else here do a lot of distance running? If so, how do you stay hydrated doing long runs in the heat? I've never trained in the middle of summer, so I'm a little bit nervous. I've seen those waist packs that hold mini water bottles, but they look so cumbersome! I need to figure something out!
dplatzer: oh my god that is amazing! go you!! that would be such a great achievement, running the new york marathon, best of luck with it!! Awe imagine all the calories you can have now you'll be working out so much, i'm jealous :)
I'm so with those of you who fluctuate daily on the scale! Yesterday was 166! which was just out in left field and today is back at 171.5....go figure. Time for a new scale perhaps? But when I was weighing daily it was crazy how it ping-ponged around.
Calorie counting is really eye opening for me. I really can eat a lot and not gain. But trying to go down! Wow such a bummer that I really can't eat nearly what I'm used to.
The more I read about FAT LOSS the more I hear that lifting weights is the way to go. That isn't everyone's cup of tea but effective....cause muscle takes up less space than fat AND burns way more calories. According to these peops the cardio doesn't do much but gosh if it works do it!
As for running a marathon...good for you! I'm so NOT a distance runner but I know there are lots on this site.
Hey y'all - may I join?
I've read this whole thread so I feel like I know all about y'all, so I'll tell ya about me: 5'11", 177, 28yo. Had my baby 15 months ago and still trying to lose the weight I gained. This time 2 years ago I weighed 168. This year, January 1, I weighed 200. My goal is in the 150's.
I was an athlete all my life up thru college (age 21), and I was always around 165-170. I figure now that I don't have the muscle I used to that I can safely weigh less than I did as an athlete.
2 questions: Alot of you are younger than me but are there any others besides emberjem trying to lose weight with kids and a family to care for also? I would just like to chat about how to keep that balance...it's hard some days (ok, most days!)
Also, what happened to Lauren, the person that began this thread?
Morning Ladies!
I've had no losses for the past week, but I've been under the weather as well. Staying home during the day is always hard on my diets, as having the kitchen right there is hard to resist. I'm rather happy to have not gone up! I am going to drag myself to the gym and do some weights today, sniffles or not!
I am going to Paris this weekend to visit a New York friend who is there on vacation, and I am trying to be good in preparation. I've found that I can usually eat whatever I want on vacation because I tend to spend my days walking around. Deep down, I'm hoping that Paris is so charmed that the calories simply don't stick; although, I will keep to my backup plan!
Dplatzer- maybe trying a camelbak/ hydration backpack would help? There are a bunch of sponsored training runs in Central Park, and I think those may supply water to participants. Good luck with your training!
Samndee- Welcome! I don't know how you do it, either! :) I don't have children yet. Surely chasing youngsters means you have an active lifestyle! How old are your little ones?
To all the statuesque ladies, good luck today!

Hello,
I hope everyone is having a great day! I feel good today because I went running last night and this morning the scale shows a 1 lb drop; 176. I don't know where I read it, but someone was saying that any weight dropped after a workout is from sweating and that it's not real fat loss...I don't know about that, but I'm feeling good about it!
francoise - I have one little girl who is almost 1yr and a half, and I have my husband who is my "other" kid.
Have a wonderful day!
-Dee
It's been a good week so far. I've been getting more activity in in little ways and doing laps in the pool now that the weather is officially hot. It seems to be making a difference. I'm down 3.6 lbs from last Friday. We'll so how weigh-in goes tomorrow, since I my weight tends to go up and down every single day. I've GOT to start getting the weight training in, though. I know that will help a lot.
monkeyfish - have a great time in Paris!!! I remember walking everywhere there, so you should have no problem maintaining or even losing on your trip.
dplatzer - congrats on 155! That's my goal weight so it's nice to see someone 5'10" get there. I may re-evaluate at that point to lose more. You'll look great after all the marathon training! I can't run myself due to bad knee/ankle joints, but wish you the best.
Oh gads my Amazon Village, Friday weigh-in.
Good news, I'm still below my first drop.
Bad news, I am 2 1/2lbs more than I was yesterday.
Solution; Period needs to end.
So this week I am 5'11" and 164. Hopefully I'll have a more dazzling number next Friday.
Best to you all!
Jules
