| ** The 2008 5'3 Club ** -- Weigh Ins every Friday! | ||
| Jan 08 2008 21:49 | ||
Welcome to the 5'3 Club! Thanks for joining us! If you didn't manage to join during our sign ups, please wait until the next sign ups take place before you post a message here. Weigh Ins are weekly, every Friday. To Weigh In you will post a message using the following format:
Chit-Chat is fine. I hope we can all get to know one another and truly give encouragement to one another. If you have any suggestions or comments about the club, please email me and let me know. Just be sure your weigh ins are in bold so that I won't miss any! If you are weighing in at home on a day other than Friday, please wait until Friday to post your week's weigh in so that I don't miss any. There may be changes, new challenges, new games, etc. as time goes by. I will always make announcements on this thread header and in a post here, so that it will be noticed, hopefully. :-)Members - You must weigh in at least once a month to remain on the member list. If you are going on vacation or there is some reason you will not be able to weigh in for over one month, please email me and let me know. The Member List shows your starting/current/goal weights the followed by how far you are from your goal. I've broken the list into categories by weight to lose before you reach your goal. Once you reach your goal, you will be moved to the Maintenance area of the list and you may then weigh in as often or little as you'd like, just please try to keep it on Fridays.
Maintenance (I've reached my goal!) 01-10 lbs. to go |

'nothing tastes as good as thin feels'

I signed up for a Personal Trainer today! YAY!!!!!
What motivates me: "never let another person control me in my life because of my low self image" That's that. |

Answer for QotW: To motivate myself, aside from checking threads on CC :> I also keep a pen and paper journal/calendar that records foods eaten/calories, exercise, goals, what I've done for myself (as far as creative projects like writing, drawing, crafts, all things I enjoy and need to do more), and things of that nature. I find making a calendar myself instead of buying or printing one off is more therapeutic for some reason. I look at it throughout the day when I have down time (I have a lot of that at work...) and it really helps to motivate me and keep me focused on my goals. |

One is the dropping down past those 10 lb. increments (i.e. I just dropped below 170)...and knowing I'll never go back up past 170 again. Next goal is 160!! Another motivator to me is the drop in clothing size. I have went from a size 20 to a 14 in 4 months. It is so much fun to be able to shop in misses-sized stores for the first time in years and to have people you haven't seen in a while notice your weight loss. Probably my biggest motivator though is my 18-year old daughter who struggles with her weight also. We are currently close to the same weight. I want to be a good role model for her, showing her that she can live a healthy lifestyle also. It must be working a little, because she has started eating a little healthier and working out occasionally which is a good start. |

I have three pieces of motivation: 1) my health--the stark picture of where I was headed, when looking at my mother and father-in-law. High blood pressure, overweight, diabetes, not healthy enough to do much of anything, not enjoying their retirement. I am 29 years from retirement, and I'm making sound financial preparations, but I realized that they'll do me little good, if I'm not healthy enough to enjoy it. Basically, this third point was the biggest motivator for changing my lifestyle, permenantly. 2) my looks; a reminder of what I was; ie, a picture of me at my very heaviest--which shocked me, when I saw it. I keep it at my home desk. 3) My goal: the outdoor activities I want to do, but was not fit enough--specifically hiking and kayaking. My goal is to take day trips hiking and/or kayaking in as many of the National Parks as we can find the time and finances to visit, at least one per year. I'm come a considerable way already, but have a lot further to go. Summer 2006 it was only with GREAT difficulty that I could hande a short, steep, path up or down from a roadway to a scenic overlook. Summer 2007 we hiked a 3.5 mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail in the Great Smokies, which climbed over a mile in altitude and included the highest peak west of the Mississippi. And I know I'd do better with that now than I did then. I'm really looking forward to learning to kayak this summer. |

This week's question is... What do you do for inspiration and motivation?
My inspiration is 1) my family, i want to be able to do more things with them. I am very insecure and self conscious. I get really nervous around people since i feel i look horrible. I hate that feeling. I want to be able to go to water parks and things like that with my family and not feel like the huge discusting person everyone's looking at. 2) i want to have another baby. I don't feel at this weight (272) that i am healthy enough to carry a baby. I know there are many people that do but i want to be healthy for me and the baby. 3) and i want to just look good for myself. I want to be able to wear cute clothes (i know, its probably stupid...but i do) i'm sick of just having to settle on clothes because that's all that fits and looks halfway decent.. :o) |

My answer for the QotW... For motivation, I say 173.2 - that was my heaviest weight on a scale. I as in shock and everytime I think about skipping a workout or eating fried foods. When I feel comfortable, I think that my wedding will be July 31st and I can't move the date just because I have not reached my goal. I WILL be 127 in Mexico. I WILL have the skinny pictures on the beach and not be ashamed to show everyone. I also tell myself everyday that if I slack off today, I am just adding that day onto the end. I have a goal and I will get there. It is a matter of how long. If I skip today, that is one day farther I am from my goal and being able to eat 2000 calories a day forever! I realize now how easy it is to maintain a 1500 calorie diet with meal planning. |

Hopeful31 said I want to be able to wear cute clothes (i know, its probably stupid...but i do) i'm sick of just having to settle on clothes because that's all that fits and looks halfway decent.. :o) No, that's not stupid at ALL. I forgot to add that to my motivation, because it's a new one--didn't kick in until I was half way to my goal weight. I used to HATE shopping for clothes. Dreaded and avoided it for as long as possible. When you are 80 pounds overweight, and shorter than average height, absolutely NOTHING looks good on you. Nothing. When I got back down to a size 14, all of a sudden the choices were so much better and I LOOKED so much better in them, and I shocked myself to discover that I now LIKE shopping. I am really looking forward to my new wardrobe. I've started planning and budgeting for it. This fall, if not sooner.

What motivates me: It feels very silly to say it, but eating healthy and exercising is what motivates me to continue eating healthy and exercising! I know that if I don't get in some cardio or weights in the morning before work I feel, and probably look, like a zombie. I'll have zero energy, and thats not good. One day I even fell asleep at my desk for a bit after lunch, but thankfully no one saw me! (Or at least I hopeno one did, lol). Same goes for eating well... while I allow myself treats or dessert whenever I feel like it, the few times I really go overboard I find it will make my stomach ache or I just feel "blah" after eating. Feeling like that is just not worth overindulging to me, no matter how yummy it may have been! |

Good Morning All.
I cut enough cals and exercise to warrant the 1.5 loss per week. Back to the drawing board. I'm still happy about my one, I broke the 200's! Thats always a positive sign. Now I have to keep going. |

Weigh In for 1/25 197 lbs I lost 4 lbs this week! I am so happy! I did bust my butt and did a lot of cardio this week, and strength training twice this week, so I deserve this. It feels so good to be out of the 200's finally and know that, no matter what, I'm never going back! I'll be back to update the boards a bit later once some more people have had time to weigh in. :-) |
