HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!
if you have any suggestions, please tell me....

Way to go kt!  That water drinking did the trick eh?  Just don't add the cream cheese at the end.  Ask if you can take some out before she adds it.  Beleive you me,  I know how hard it is with Mom.  Love my mom to bits but she doesnt' understand.  She talks about my weight all the time saying I should lose some weight cause she's worried about me but then she makes all this food that fattening.  Grrr.  Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
#82 ktcort13 Mar 18 2007 17:57
thankfully my mom is more understanding about me losign weight. especially since i'm trying to do it the healthy way this time she wants to make sure i don't go back to doing it unhealthily like before. she's lost a lot of weight since I was a kid so she understands what I'm going through. Thanks for teh suggestion about taking soem out before she adds the cream cheese.

Wow! I have missed a lot of posts! Welcome to all who "joined" since I last posted.

bigteeny, you asked about DDR? I have it and it is a blast! It is something my children have done for a few years and I decided I would give it a try. I am VERY pitiful at it, but I guess the calories burned don't care one way or the other! LOL

Seriously though, it is fun, something you can do with the kids too.

I don't do it as often as I thought I would originally. I do the treadmill every morning (at home) and just recently have started going down the street to a church gym that has all different kinds of equipment and working out with my sister. They have recumbant bikes, airdyne, elipticals, free weights and the whole range of weight machines.

In addition, we recently started riding our bikes again. The children like to do a wide variety of things so I have a lot to choose from.

The weather is getting warmer and so is the pool. I am REALLY anxious for it to warm up.

Hope everyone else is doing well. We are at the end of Spring break here. On Thursday, the school starts the 2nd "Biggest Loser" contest and I am hoping it will help me to do as well as the one that just ended. I have a son graduating in May and family coming in that have no clue of the changes we have made. Can't wait for the surprise!

You guys have been busy chatting today!

Hello mistymom!  Pool!?  That sounds so nice.

My daughter and I have been bike riding ever since we got home from practice.  OMG, on and off for 3 hours now!!  I'm going to regret it in the morning.

Keep it strong rockinmama!  If you haven't left yet, load yourself up on veggies or something before you go so you're too full to be easily tempted.  You know...the grocery store trick!

I'm new to CC. I am a 25 year old woman, who is 5'9m and weighs 229ibs as of today. So far I have lost 11ibs.  My goal is to weigh around 165ibs.  I gained an excessive amount of weight in the last 2 years. Eating became a mechanism to cope with a sudden death in my family.  I'm ready to lose the weight, and actually feel good about my health and my appearance.
#86 itsmytime Mar 19 2007 09:53
okay, first--welcome Andrea!!!!  I am sorry to hear about the loss in your family.   We are glad you are here and will support all the way!  You will see this is a great place to be!  You can post about anything here and we will encourage, listen, cheer with you, cry with you....and lots of virtual hugs ..and congrats on 11 pounds gone!

rockin and kt---how did it go with the wonderful mom cooking?  I have had to bypass my mother in law's cooking 2x'x now.  She is a wonderful good ole southern cook.......that there is no way her cooking would keep me under for the day.

and finally, today is official weigh in day....down another 3.5 pounds!  that is 6.5 total!!!  out of the 240's!!!!!!  238.5!!!  of course, hubby still in lead with 3.8% body fat, and me with 2.65%...but I'm gaining (losing???? lol) on him!  That is 6 paper clips for my chain!

Hello Everyone!

I'm back after a brief long weekend with my mother.  She came for a visit and needless to say, I went beyond my daily allotment of calories but, not as bad as I thought it would be.

I'm glad to see we have a few new people joining the group!  This is a great atmosphere here.  No one truly understands how we feel about ourselves unless they are going through the same struggles.

I am so proud of everyone who has lost weight.  I still haven't gotten my scale yet, I was too busy with my mom.  I plan on getting one very soon, I can't wait until I weigh in to see how I've been doing!

Sooo...um...what is the paper clip thingy??

#88 valsgoal Mar 19 2007 13:43
I'm fed up with my scale this morning.  I weighed myself today and it showed I gained 1.5 since my last recorded weight.  I got off and on again and it was down 1.5.  Then off and on again and boom, the exact same as the last recorded weight.  ARGH!  I wanted to kick it so badly, but if it's broken, that'll just break it more, besides I didn't have my shoes on yet.  lol   What an emotional rollercoaster in a matter of minutes.   What do you guys think; chalk it up as a standstill?  Regardless, I know I have to just shake it off and move on. (shake, shake, shake)

Hi andreajean11!  I'm glad to hear about your 11 pounds.

itsmytime:  Woohoo on your 3.5!!  6 paper clips?  A paper clip per pound?
#89 valsgoal Mar 19 2007 13:45
LOL hyechong...I was wondering the same thing!
#90 trapp32 Mar 19 2007 14:02

Hi trapp32!  Congrats on your marriage.  C'mon in, the more the merrier!  Congrats on your net 4 pounds too.  As you can see from my post this AM, I may be right there with you on the plus side.  We'll be OK though.  We have to remember that we'll be OK if we keep trying!  Chin up and smile!  ;)  You're about to make some new friends!

For exercise you are ont the right track walking is good for u , but try to increase the time or intensity, maybe try walking on a hill for 30 mins instead of 20, also you should reward urself with  healthy snacks at the end such as an italian Ice on a hot day(they are incredibly low in fat and tasty!)Also try to switch up ur exercise routine, try new and different thingsto find something that u like to do.......for ex: Kick boxing, bicycling, pilates(my personal fav), baoting, hiking, even jumprope. And remember its always more fun if u bring a buddy!

I Hope this was helpful......
#93 ktcort13 Mar 19 2007 15:22
the mom cooking was really good. I have no idea how to gauge how many calories it was. So long as it wasn't more than 900 calories I'm fine. I had about 1 cup rice, maybe 3 ounces of chicken in this sauce of chicken broth and cream cheese I think, like 1/2 cup green bean casserole, and some salad. I'm pretty sure it's under 900 cals, but I have no idea. It was super good though! Also go to wash my car which was great since birds crapped all over it!

I just finished one final and I have one more in 4 hours. So it's time to go study the crap outta anthropology :(

Hope everyone has a great day!
#94 itsmytime Mar 19 2007 16:32
hyechong and vk---yes, it's a paper clip per pound.  I started a post long ago about doing a paperclip challenge, then started it back 2 weeks ago.  It was on page 1 of this forum "100+to lose paperclip challenge"  maybe I can bump it up so you can find it...

care to join me????

welcome trapp and princess!

good job to you kt!!!  good luck on finals!!!!  (yuck, yuck, yuck)

I actually live with my mother, but luckily for me she never cooks.  This is a both a blessing and a curse...  I have to always do the cooking, but I know what I'm eating and how many calories I'm getting.  As an added bonus she's lost a tad bit of weight too even though she does her best to sabotage her healthy meals by adding butter or some other sauce to whatever I sit in front of her.   If she did cook though I'd be in real trouble.  She seems to always be saying "You don't eat enough!" and offering me junk she keeps around for herself..chips, cakes, cookies, etc.  Before I started counting calories I had to have a long heart to heart with myself about resisting the temptation I knew wasn't going to go away.  Where some people can say if it's not in the house I can't be tempted I don't have that luxury.  I can buy healthy food, and eat healthy food, but I can't dictate what she buys and eats and so there's always temptation.  The silver lining though is that since I'm always having to exercies my willpower it's easier to resist it when I'm away from home too.

Hi everyone ~

Wow, so many posts since I last checked in :) I really like the group on this thread....there are a couple people right around the same height/weight I am, and for some reason that really helps...nobody else even knows how much I weigh (even my husband.)

Welcome to Trapp32, AndreaJean and Princess....I'm pretty new to this thread too, but I'm glad you guys have joined us.

So I guess this is our official weigh in day, right? Looks like this week I am blessed with a small loss of 1 pound (actually slightly more, but I round up.)

Itsmytime, a 3.5 pound loss? That is just amazing. With results like that, you should be pretty motivated... that's .50 pound per day!

Finally, thank you Mistymom for the info on DDR. I want to try it, and have heard lots of good things, but I'm scared to invest in the equipment and then find out I hate it. We don't have a gaming system, so I'd have to get on just for the DDR.  It sounds soooo fun though. We are seriously considering it.

mistymom- where do you live?  Bikes out already? And the pool!  We had snow fall today.  Can't wait till I can take my bike out.

Boy lots of new ones. Gonna be hard to keep track of everyone but If i miss you it wasn't intentional ok?

itsmytime- My visit at Mom's went well actually.  She didn't know we were coming.  Dad forgot to tell her. So I suggested spaghetti since she already had sauce made. so I had my 1 cup and small amount of sauce.  She did have rice pudding made though.  I even had a little of that.  Stuck within my calories.  I'm proud of me!  heehee

andreajean11- welcome, 11 lbs good for you.  Sorry about the death in your family, that is very difficult to cope with.  My husband's dad died in Dec. and my Mom's brother last month so I totally understand your loss.  Very hard.  We'll help each other out for sure.

hyechong- I just learned about the paper clip thingy too...lol. Gotta buy some paper clips I guess.  Glad you had a nice visit with your mom.  You must miss her.  I know I miss my daughter very much. She's 5 hours away and we talk everyday.

vk- I totally understand your frustration with the scale.  Mine does the same thing for some reason but some days it's ok...lol.  maybe I need a new one too but I've been so reliant on this one...it's been good to me....lol...I hate to give it up.

trapp32- Welcome the more the merrier.  Bad weeks usually kick start us into good weeks so here's to a good week for you. :)

kt-  Can't forget my kt...lol.  Glad you had a nice supper and kept in control...I know it's so hard to do.  Washing the car is great exercise so you should be fine.  Don't study to hard dear. :)
#98 rockinmama Mar 19 2007 19:11
Oh bigteeny-  almost forgot you...good going on the 1 pound loss.  That's fantastic.

Can I still join this group?  I am 5 3" and this morning I weighed in at 226.  I would like to lose 76-81 pounds which would put me at 145-150.  I have been a member of this site since last August, but I am starting over AGAIN today...lol.  The calculations say 1390 calories which puts me at a daily deficit of 710 with no exercise.  I was going to walk today but it is raining.  I have had 11 56 calories so far today and I am planning some 100 calorie popcorn for later which should put me at 1256.  I am also counting points with Weight Watchers without going to meetings, so I am also at my points total for the day which is good for me.  I just get so hungry at night.  I am just going to force myself not to eat...I have no willpower (I think I ate it)...lol.  Thanks for letting me ramble...good luck to us all!!

**lets out a big sigh of relief**

Knocked 2 of my finals out today. Grabbed a starbucks (caramel latte, only about 175 cals) on my way to school adn got a luna bar after my first final. I was too busy studying for 4 hours to get an actual lunch. So I grabbed a chipotle burrito bowl on my way home. And I still ahve about 300 cals left for today! I will hopefully go to the gym in a couple hours, I'll wait for the after work crowd to die down. I was a little disappointed b/c I weighed in at 225.8 yesterday but was 226.8 this morning :( so I was only down .6 pounds for the last week and I really think it's b/c I didn't make it to teh gym at all. So I definitely have to hit the gym more so I can get the poudns coming off faster! ugh another final at 8am tomorrow followed by work. Not lookin forward to it!
