Anyone doing SLIM IN 6? alydaven
  Jan 11 2007 16:13
I found Slim  in  6  to be great for toning, it is not dreadfully hard to do. I did the 6 weeks and found my self toned!  I looked great, I did the Slim and Six pack daily too which made my abs look decent.  I have not done this in about 2 years now but would love to start it again, that is if i can get my girls to nap at the same time!  Anyone doing it, or about to start it?  I am ready for the 6 week challenge.  I am eager to start but fear not following through... I know it works!  I have seen results firsthand!  I need a buddy!

i confess! i did not start mt biu until 9:30 tonight and i quit right before the resistance part *bows head in shame*. my hamstrings are so sore! i had to listen to my body and call it a night. 9:30 p.m. is not a good workout time for me. it's hard to muster up the energy, i tried to motivate myself so i got dressed and popped it in. but i didn't do the whole thing.

ah well, tomorrow is another day. gotta go feed the baby!

Hey gals, quick question: Would doing the SI6 routine be considered "moderate actvity level?" I'm just curious because I've had my allowance at "light activity" because for awhile now I haven't had a regular exercise routine in place... up until SI6. As a teacher, I stand and walk around at work and walk to the grocery store and stuff... but I wasn't doing much outside activity other than that. Now that has changed and I don't know if I should change the levels.... the calorie intake needed is really different between the 2 levels. I'm losing a little more weight than it says I should be each week (it says 1.5-2 lbs is healthy in reaching my goal), so i was wondering if that's because I need to up my calories. So what do you think?

We are all doing so awesome with this.... a standing ovation for Alli, and to everyone involved :) :) :)

Hi everybody! I'm "one week old" in CC and only 2 days in Slim in 6. Of course, SIU is the part, but is pretty ...hard to move 2 hours after I finish with my routine. Will it get better? As I want to move on to RIU and even BIU (I used to do a lot of sports, so being as out of shape as I am is killing me) I really would like to know how you feel the difference between the three levels. Not to mention about how can you maintain your motivation when all it takes to bring tears in your eyes is to simply sit down!
#84 nycawfeegrl Jan 21 2007 16:24
oh don't worry monix... the first 3 days have you sore as hell but it all goes away day 4, the 2nd day of RIU.... remain positive :)

taylor - You Hot Mama!! Whoa obviously I just saw your pics ~.^ LOL
Yeah you shd definitely listen to your body. Push a little but do not make yourself keel over. Muscles need to recuperate & build more while resting so you can kick ass 110% again next time.

monix - after working out, drink sports-water, or eat banana (juice, straight, however you like) or chocolate milk. Anything that will help replace the electrolyte in your body.

Just got back from weekend trip last night. Will hitt he gym this morning & BIU later this evening. Yes! Good to be home! ^_^

Just checking in before I do BIU tonight. Yep, Sunday night doesn't count as 'weekend' ^_^

Added: Finished BIU, replaced the crunches part with Slim & 6 Packs. @.@ hard!
#89 taylorn24 Jan 22 2007 03:28
thanks sweet_tart! i am looking to have a six pack like yours though ;)  good for you doing 6 packs at the end of biu, awesome!

i did biu tonight as well. i did the full routine again, my hamstrings were feeling much better today. sadly, my heart monitor says that i am burning much less calories during the routine, i guess my cardio and heart-rate are improving pretty quick. which is okay, but i may need to add a jog in the a.m. or something. especially since it's warming up, i can put mason in the jogging stroller.

hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for monday to come around. i like monday's, they are like my refresh day as fatr as diet and fitness are concerned, i like to re-eval my goals and see where i am at.

xoxo

nycawfeegrl: thx for the encouragement! Today is the 3rd day, so I hope to feel better tomorrow... I hope my muscles will allow me to start with RIU next week.

sweet_tart: thx for the advice. I have a question: if I drink/eat those won't I add too many carbs? I'm concerned that my body will "burn" those carbs rather then the fat I'm trying to loose...

Hmm. It seems I lost more then 3 pounds this week! This should be enough to motivate me to go on with Si6 despite the pain...

There are good carbs and there are not so good carbs :) Plus, you are building muscles. Don't worry about the carb so much as to the total calorie intake. You can incorporate the post-exercise replenishment as your snack. The portion of these also not going to be huge. I am talking even half a banana, or small bottle of sports drinks, or half a cup of milk (choose one LOL not all three)

Of course, you can also take multi vitamins that can help you balance those minerals. I am currently taking one like that, for active women that is.

Enjoy the pain LOl after a while your fitness level will increase and you will miss the soreness XD

taylor - I ain't doin the S6packs again LOL not for a long while. I think I will stick to the regular crunches in the program. I like to keep my tummy a bit more femme than ripped :)

ha ha, i hear ya sweet_tart. the 6 pack pic on your profile is awesome. well defined and definitely feminine! it's an inspiration!

did my RIU today, I am back on track after not eating all that great on Sunday (I took my lil girl to a bday party and they had all kinds of junk to eat... I kept it in small portions but felt lousy after I realized how difficult it would be to log all the crap into CC... so I did not log in any food for Sunday), and being too tired to exercise, other then a few lunges and squats while at work.    I am happy to say I loved my workout today and it is getting easier and easier!

As you probably all know by now I am a huge fan of Slim and Six Pack!  I will have bikini abs in no time! haha   at least I hope to, going to Punta Cana in May...   I have always loved this part of the DVD.  If you havent tried it go ahead and give it a try!

sweet_tart does look great!
#95 taylorn24 Jan 23 2007 02:47
just finished up my biu the evening. feeling great. i still find the floor work with the legs to be my toughest part, but it feels awesome to get that burn going in my butt!

i normally put it on the t.v. and do it. my love was watching king of queens though, so i threw the dvd in my laptop. i am familiar with the moves so i was kind of watching king of queens while doing it and boy did it fly by! i also notice when i am doing it in front of him, it makes me want to push harder! not to mention that he is in fantastic shape. i am looking forward to getting sexier and to being in great shape like him.

maybe i should give slim and 6 pack a whirl one of these days :)
#96 monix Jan 23 2007 10:03
sweet_tart: thx. Unfortunately I have time for my exercises only around 20.00 hrs (after work, dinner and some rest not to exercise with a full stomach), so I have no room for a snack when I finish. I try to have 19.00 as the latest hour for a meal. After that, just plain water. I consume around 1300 cal per day and try to keep a healthy balance between prots, carbs and fats. Hm..I think I'll go for the vitamins, since I'm not sure that what I understand by "sports-water" and/or "hot chocolate" it's the same with what you understand by them. I live on a totally different continent and we have (as I've seen) totally different products characteristics.

Alydaven, I just started Sin6 yesterday so we have pretty close start dates!

Has anyone here been to the beachbody website? They have a great work out with you feature, I highly suggest it.

My RIU is done for today and I feel great!  I am following it up with MLO Protein shakes.  Gotta feed the muscles... I mix it with skim milk and throw in a handful of frozen rasberries packaged by Dole.

So happy to say after a bum day on Sunday I am back in the swing of things.  Today is my day 10, I am no longer dreading any part of RIU.  It is a good feeling knowing that I am no longer in pain from lunges, squats, etc...  Funny how your body adjusts.  So all you gals new to SI6 dont give up after a day of soreness, it will go away and you be happier than ever knowing you stuck with it... Afterall 6 weeks goes by in a flash, now is the time to make a difference!

I am so proud of all of us that made the choice to challenge ourselves.  Rock On!

Ack! For shame XD I went cardio for 30min first thinking I (may be) able to tackle BIU... wrong!! I had to stop after 30 min BIU. Just no more steam or energy to push along. Today is going to be dedicated solo BIU!

monix - ooo, where do you live? :) Well Sports water/ sports drink is like Gatorade.
A friend of mine swears that it totally make a difference in her workout endurance (and she works it hard!) Thing to keep in mind (says she) is the drinks with ratio 4:1 (carb:pro) She adds 1 TBS of whey in her drinks. Don't think it is necessary unless you want to. Drinking it during exercise can also as be as effective as drinking it post workout (like a sip here and there).
Here is a good link short and sweet Sports Drinks - Depletion of the body's carbohydrate stores and dehydration are two factors that will limit prolonged exercise.
& from good old wiki: Sports drink.

Hot chocolate, definitely not Starbucks' LOL. My definition of chocolate milk is: 2%milk (1/2 cup) + fat free cocoa mix (1/2 tsp). Since I drink milk warm (unless with cereal) thus I call it hot milk ^_^;; Calorie is not going to blow your intake. In fact, nowadays I take average 1500 a day especially on workout days.

I am thinking about loaning my SIU/RIU CD to a friend of mine. I want her to get started and in shape before her wedding. Too bad she lives 6 hrs away, otherwise I would drag her to the gym with me everyday LOL.

Girl, I gotta give it to ya. strange it may sound to people, but crunches are my weakness XD ... suffice to say.. I can't handle it hahahahaha

Don't forget to take lots of bikini pics on your trip :)
