Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds ennazus520
  Jan 28 2008 19:41
Hi, my name is Suzanne and I am 23 years old. I weigh 258.3 pounds(yikes) and would really like to get down to between 140 and 150. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in their 20's who has about that much they want to lose. We could work together and stay motivated to reach our goals!!! Also, if there is anyone in their 20's who has lost that much and wants to share their success story, I would love to hear it! Thanks!

Late night for boots, it's almost 2am here on the West Coast. I took a nap today, so I'm not tired! Will have to sleep in tomorrow of course! So I've been doing a lot of thinking tonight--your all welcome to read my personal journal if you would like to but I have decided that it's time to bump up my exercise once again. I have gone from 2 hours to 4 hours (last week) now this week I am going up to 6 hours. I once heard that nutrition is 70% and exercise makes up 30% of weight loss but you know what? I don't think it's true for me. I almost think it's a 50% vs 50% kind of thing for me. I think that's why I lose weight so slow! I think exercise is key for me and it may be the other way around for me, 70% exercise and 30% nutrition? I'm not sure but just guessing ..So I'm just going start exercising more but I'm going to keep it fun (because that's key for me) so lots of roller blading, hiking, spin class, jogging etc.. I also have the time to exercise more since I  am in school, so I need to take advantage of it while I can! Ok, I will check in tomorrow once I wake up , just wanted to post my truth. Night!

Good morning ladies,  I am sorry I haven't posted again in awhile.  I guess I got so far behind on all the posts I didn't feel like I knew what was going on with everyone.  I wanted to try and read all that I had missed but with a 2yr old, a full time job, and a husband I haven't found the time.  I hope you guys can let me just slip back in.   Even though I haven't been posting I have been doing pretty good.  I am still doing Weight watchers and am walking almost everyday if not every day and I am down 19 lbs since January 12th I can't wait to hit 20 and I should be able to do that this week.  I hope everyone is doing good and I am really going to try and check in everyday.  I really love this thread it is so nice to be able to talk to people that understand how you feel.

Hi.... I am in my mid 20s... and i am not sure if i would be welcomed here.. but i definitely need an outlet to vent.. I just came back to my homeland after spending a year and half overseas. Which made me gained near to 20 pounds... that made me a very moody and negative person.

Apart from that my complexion for i dunno what reasons.. became very bad... which adds on to my inferiority. I know.. all these are mundane compared to real world issues out there.. but such things certaintly make me feel bad enough to coop myself my house, refusal to do things and meet people.

Especially its a very unfortunate coincedence that my besties happens to be really slim and pretty people, so they need not be bothered by an extra pound or a single pimple.

I finally gathered enough courage to pull my ever tight jeans on yest ( which make me feel fat) and went out. And one of my besties.. ( she mentioned out of goodwill) abt my apperance.. and i wanna hide and cry out loud. I went home in a foul mood, binge with venegance till today...  i seriously need an outlet to vent. And honestly speaking.. i cant be bothered by myself anymore... i totally stopped even try to workout, take good care of myself anymore. It would be great if i can just vanish, hide and cut off all contacts around me. I dont dare face the world.. Its too harsh for me...

zekie: I'm currently living overseas (in Korea... surrounded by 90-110lb women everyday)... so believe me... I understand.
You can do it! :) The ladies in this thread are great about giving support... so don't worry.
If you need to chat, just send me a PM or something.

Just for interests sake, I am from Oklahoma, so I'm almost in Texas!

I think it is absolutely great that everyone is looking toward becoming more healthy and happy too but it really hurts that you guys complain about thinner girls. When you are within 5-10 pounds of your goal weight you will be losing vanity pounds too. You have to understand that just because someone looks closer to the 'ideal' doesnt mean that they're as happy with themselves as you think they should be. Everyone has their own issues and everyone has their own idea of what would be the right weight for them. I understand that it seems silly but just don't be mean to girls that are thinner just because they don't think they're perfect

mandyjaye-

I've never posted in here before... however why would someone who doesn't need to lose 100lbs or around that even read it? In the event that 'said' person reads the post, why would they post about that they do not agree with their obvious agreement on a subject. If you don't need to lose 100lbs then you have know idea what it's like to hear your best friend who is 135lbs complain about how fat they are. Please, understand that they are talking with people in the same boat with the same goals.

They mean no harm to maybe... you, or others that need to lose a few pounds, however this is their (our) place to vent.. rant.. talk about ups and downs and things 'we' go through. I read the same posts you did.. and all I can say is.. they are doing an awesome job.

If you need to lose 5-15 lbs then maybe you should take the time to read posts from people with similar goals, you might find you are more like minded with them.

mladdy - thanks for the welcome and for the message! it makes me feel great to know that this is only my second day on the site and i already have people supporting me. it's like i finally found my own little place to fit in. i can't wait to start losing weight and tackling weight loss successfully. thanks to all of you.

#750 mladdy Mar 17 2008 01:26

Phew! Thanks for handling that for us, r6riderchick, and welcome to the best board for us big girls! People really are entitled to blow off steam anywhere on the forums, and you are straight on about this particular thread being for people with the "about 100 lbs. to lose." Don't get me wrong, we really are an awesome group of women and can embrace and empower anyone who needs a little motivation, but this isn't quite the board to chat about vanity pounds (at least not at this point in our journies). BTW, I read a few of your posts, and congrats go out to you for losing over 40 pounds already!!! I've lost 30, but the strangest thing is that people don't seem to notice! GRRR! Talk about frusterating! Oh yeah, and you'll have to tell these gals about your Lane Bryant sales person story! That was awesome!

Stevi, so glad you've found your "home" here on this board. It's a pretty comfortable place to share! We're glad you're here too!

zekie07- Everyone here is like a sister, and you can never have too many of those! Take my word, YOU ARE WELCOMED HERE!

Welcome back, Jessica (jpetty5)! Don't worry, you can pick up from right here; no pressure to go back and read a billion posts (though if you're bored, there are some great ones!). We'll be rejoicing with you when you hit the 20# mark!

To the other Jessica (yessicazctcs), way to go for setting your sites on your ideal weight! I'm also thinking the recommended number won't be my "happy weight" either, but I'll keep evaluating along the way.

Boots (bootser1), how funny that my brain has flip flopped the 's' and 't' in your screenname all this time! I guess I have dyslexsic tendencies sometimes! What a cute nickname! How did you ever happen upon it? Your 6 hours of cardio a week seems killer! Word of caution, don't push yourself to the point of starting to detest it (or hurt yourself). If you're body is happy doing that much intense movement, that's stellar!

Welcome, ghanja! Tell us about your screenname... I'm curious Tongue out I was also right around 190 before my baby (2 years ago too!). Between 250 and 260, post-pregnancy, is probably where I was at my heaviest as well! We've got a LOT in common!

alibuch- We are of the few NOT in Texas I think! Indian food is one of my eat-out-of-control cuisines. Embarassed Way to go for staying under control!

#751 bootser1 Mar 17 2008 02:12

hey mladdy--thanks--Actually the nickname bootser comes from my grandmother--she has called me that ever since I was a little girl..why? I'm not sure--it has nothing to do with my real name. And I have to agree with you, I am going to try for 6 hours of fun exercise--but if it is not fun then i will only do how much is fun, so if 4 hours is fun then 4 hours it is! I'm just hoping for the 6 but I also know if I do 6 hours and don't like it that I won't keep it up and I don't want that to happen! Thanks. And congrats on losing  30 pounds, i bet it is frustrating---i would want to just grab people and say look at me! Hope everyone is having a good night!

#752 mladdy Mar 17 2008 02:25

Thanks for commiserating, Boots. I am having a good night. My friend just told me she scored ebay tix to Disneyland for Easter Sunday (Good thing my church has a Sat. night service, LOL)! I'm also about to put the little boy to bed and head for the elliptical. I always feel like superwoman when I'm done these days! Cool

#753 alibsam Mar 17 2008 04:30
mandyjaye: Maybe you should read everything before making ignorant comments.
#754 jpetty5 Mar 17 2008 12:14

mladdy, thanks for the welcome back and congrts on your 30 lbs that is great but that does suck that  people don't seem to notice I know that would bug me.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi everyone! I am so glad I found this forum. I have been looking for somewhere to "fit in".  Here is a little about myself. I am 5'1'' , 29 yrs old and when i started cc plus almost 2 weeks ago i weighed 213. I had a baby in September and got up to 245 lbs and have lost about 30lbs since then. I want to loose about another 90 lbs or so.

#756 r6riderchick Mar 17 2008 13:20
mladdy, it needed to be handled... and fast! So I stepped up to the plate. Thanks for the warm welcome and kudos to you for dropping 30lbs, doesn't it feel great? People may not notice but you notice... how about feeling lighter on your feet? Or the first time you noticed that you can walk faster because there isn't as much friction from your thighs rubbing? (Mine still rub... but it's not like before). I don't know about you, but I also notice that I sleep much better, and i can actually run and exercise now w/o feeling like I'm going to die!

I love the new me, and I can't wait until I reach my goal.

Did anyone watch, "I can make you thin" last night?
#757 r6riderchick Mar 17 2008 13:22
Hi tferrell935... I'm new too, but welcome :).
#758 watchmeshine82 Mar 17 2008 13:46

hey guys,

i went out of town for the wedding... so friday through last night and probably also today was not so healthy eating.  but not so super binge eating either.  just like 2 donuts on the road trip (but total calorie intake for the day at 2000) that sort of thing.  we also ate out at a lot of restaurants but i did salads with grilled chicken and stir fry with brown rice, that sort of thing.  we split a dessert 3 ways too.  i think i was okay but obviously when the food is not stuff i cooked myself, i have my doubts.  it's that time of the month too so i'm craving carbs and sweets.  not a good combo.

#759 r6riderchick Mar 17 2008 14:22
watchmeshine82,

When it's that time of the month for me I always head down to my local bread shop and they make this AWESOME organic rosemary/garlic/olive oil and dill/onion bread... it's crusty yet chewy on the outside and so soft yet firm on the inside. The nutrition information is for 1/8th of the loaf and has 100 calories and 4 grams of fiber...(an 8th of it is a good hunk). I eat 1/8th of it everday on my period for 8 days until it's gone... OH and I buy the hersheys special dark chocolate and have a serving size everyday. All in all this is about 200 calories and it helps me control myself at that time. I actually look forward to it, it's my treat... and it curbs the cravings.

So I would say... find something that is good... but bad (you know what I mean) and allow yourself to eat it and enjoy every piece of it. I get creative with the bread sometimes and spread laughing cow cheese on top and pop it under the broiler for a few minutes (YUM!). I don't know if this will help or if you don't do this already. However I have noticed more control when I started this.
#760 r6riderchick Mar 17 2008 14:25
sorry one more thing.

Hi my name is Jen and I'm addicted to coffee...

If you are like me at all.. I have two coffee drinks that can curb a sweet attack... a tall skinny late from starbucks with sugar free syrup... or if you don't want to pay $4 bucks and $2 bucks is more your style I found caribou coffee has a drink at the gas stations and the espresso one only has 100 calories.

I know most people don't like to drink calories on their diet... but I love good coffee and can't give it up.
