  Jan 22 2007 17:59
I'm looking for a 130/120 club, but I don't see any topics started.

If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?

Thank you :)

I really like VS bikinis  I have like 8 of 'em.

They have all fit well too.  But i am not all that well-endowed to have to worry about support, so it is easy.
#742 smiles1979 Feb 08 2008 19:44

Hi Jen -

Oh really 8..huh? That's cool!

Well it's not that I'm all that well endowed either...it's just that the ones I tried from Target seemed to have no support or much lining...so they didn't look all that great.  Whether smaller or bigger up top, I think some lift is important.  haha!

Anyway...:D Thanks!

#743 gretamarie Feb 09 2008 15:51
rennai--thanks so much for sharing that womancaptured website.  Those photos are awesome.  Almost reason enough to go to San Diego just to have your photo taken!
#744 collinsj617 Feb 10 2008 00:16

Hey Margo,

The VS swimsuits are good for support.  I am a large-chested (DD) and I bought a bikini top from VS and feel supported in it and, not to mention, hot :)

gretamarie - i agree with you, the womancaptured website pix are awesome, it is tempting to plan a trip to San Diego just to do a shot!

#745 smiles1979 Feb 11 2008 14:11

Hi Jennifer,

Glad you really liked the VS bikinis too! :D I'm not that big at all..haha..Embarassed but I hope that I can feel just as sexy in the bikinis as you do! :D

Haven't checked out the website...but I would take your word for it that the pics. are great. :/ hehe. :D I have thought of getting pics. done professionally where I live in the East coast for my b/f for a special occasion.....when I hit my goal weight..:D

Anyway...:D

Happy Monday everyone! :D

#746 simignonne Feb 11 2008 14:26

Yeah, happy Monday everybody.  I'm frustrated because my weight these past few days has been yo-yoing and it has NEVER done that before.  Plus my husband and I were in a car wreak yesterday.. which is sort of funny.  It died at our apartment and we were trying to push it into a parking space and it rolled into another car.  Sadly that car ended up being a Lexus SUV...  Even the police man was laughing at us when he arrived.  It's funnier now than it was then.  Things are alright now and everything is taken care of, no real damage except a bit of bruising for my hubby, but man, to get on the scale this morning after that day... bummer.

I'm always scared to buy something from a magazine.  What if it doesn't fit me?  Do I just send it back and keep trying different sizes?  I would love to have one of those VS bikinis. I got the mag. in the mail and I  think I spend 45 minutes just staring at the pictures :)

On a brighter side, I am a bridesmaid in my friends wedding this summer and Saturday we went to get sized for the dresses (which are actually adorable) and out of all the girls there I was the only one that could fit into the size 4 at David's Bridal.  I was very excited about that.  I thought for sure I was going to be a 6.

On the weekends I tend to eat less healthily, not more calories, probably less in fact, but instead of a bowl of fruit yesterday I had a jr. bacon cheeseburger... :( and it was heaven to say the least.  But is that why my weight was yo yoing?  I should be able to burn that off in the gym shouldn't I?  My husband said that foods like that tend to 'sit' on you for longer, longer at least than fruits and veggies.  I'm such an amature dieter!

Well, I'm nervous about weighing in on Wednesday but I'm going to keep up my good work so far and just hope that things even out.

#747 smiles1979 Feb 11 2008 14:59

Hi simignoonne...

Sorry to hear about your car accident! SurprisedGlad to know that you both are not too badly hurt though!

One possibility of the yo-yo effect...other than maybe eating higher fatty food...is maybe stress or anxiety???

As for the VS mag...haha..yeah I do the same thing....spend like an hour just wishing..hehe. :D Yeah, I've bought things from VS before (clothes, undergarments...etc. :D) and if they didn't fit...I just exchanged them....VS gives you a UPS label to return the item(s) and then they tack on $4.95 for the shipping to your order when they bill you...otherwise you just pkg. up the item(s) yourself and send it back to them at the given address however else you'd prefer (like reg. mail).  You'd just have to figure which is more important or which is the best thing at the time....convenience or price...etc. (reg. mail vs. UPS)

Also....they do have measurement/size charts in the mag....and they tend to run small I think...so just try and take your measurements and match them against the mag. and that should give you a better idea of what sizes to order..:D

Hope that helps some...

Congrats too on fitting into a size 4 in the brides maid's dress! :D *whoohoo!*

That would be exciting!

Also..another side note....yeah...I'd say that higher fatty foods, etc. (ones considered 'less healthy', would stick with you longer....but maybe if you realllly worked extra hard at the gym the next day or for that whole week, that might make a difference. :)

I hate the word 'diet'.....my opinion....so I just wish you luck in your strife for a healthier lifestyle. :D

Yeah...I usually go off track some on the weekend too.....I feel like 'moderation' is a good thing to go by b/c you can't deprive yourself of everything all the time, right?

Living healthy...esp. if it's a lifestyle you aren't used to...like me.....then eating right and exercise is just something of a daily battle you have to try and overcome ...and the more you fight for your health each day, I think it may become a little easier as time goes on.....it just takes..well some time. :D

I have been trying to stick to my workouts (cardio/weight training) and stuff lately too...and I think it's kinda paying off already. :D I was able to buy a size 4 jeans this past weekend! :D (The denim was not too heavy weight and it had stretch, but even so....that made me EXCITED!)

So....I say....*Cheers* to you for all your efforts! Keep up the good work....

I hope I didn't confuse you too much..Embarassed

I can predict a 1.5# gain overnight if I eat taco bell the nite before (even if it is a fiesta chicken taco sald and I do not eat the shell (350 calories and like 25 g of protein not bad at all)).  Same goes for MickyDs etc.  I also can predict a slight increse .7# if I eat higher carb than normal.

So if you are typically eating a certain amount of salt and carbs with a deficiet then up it all of a sudden -- expect to see the scale jump.  And no you did not gain a 1# of fat (unless you ate 3,600 extra calories at tacohell)  you are just retaining more water than usually.  So do not stress about it.

If you stay at this new salt intake your body will adjust (kidneys will) and you will go back down.  And if you return to your normal intake (salt wise) I would expect you will return to your normal weight within 3-4 days.   However if you countinue to keep your glycogen stores all stocked up (by eating lots of carbs) you will maintain that extra water weight until you depleat your glycogen stores again (like a long run and return to your normal carb load).

It is important not to stress and re-haul your whole workout because you are retaining some water.  Just stay consistant.  You do not want to under-shoot your calories the next day to "make up" for a cheat the night before -- this is really bad for your metabolism and will actual result in you storing that "cheat" as fat more readily.  Oh a plus as a girl you may expect as much as 5# of extra water weight during "that time"  Just a heads up so you do not get frustrated when you see it (not everyone does though).

I fluxuate a lot bounce a 1.5# in a week because of my cheat day (which usually involves something salty and extra carbs).  I also gain up to 3-4# during my TOTM, which sucks
#749 smiles1979 Feb 11 2008 17:18

Good info. Jen. :D My 2 cents...I would have to agree....

Yeah that stinkin' TOTM can make me gain water weight too....probaby a few lbs. (maybe 3-5lbs?)

I can tell that I'm just more bloated feeling....err..sorry for the descriptive word..haha...during that time. Sometimes I do feel down about myself and feel 'who cares' and not watch what I eat, etc.....though lately..with my workout routine going pretty well...I try to just tell myself now that the extra weight I am feeling will come off soon...in a week or less...so I try not to stress about it and to not gorge myself on bad foods.

Keep up the good work everyone!! :D

#750 smiles1979 Feb 13 2008 12:58

Well, not sure if anyone else got to post yet....but as for me....

I weighed in on Monday and was 136.4, which was less than last week and overall (since the start of my 'challenge' on 1/22, I've lost 4.6 lbs.)

I weighed myself this morning (Wed.), though not on digital scale) and it seemed to read 136, so I will say that I have at least kept up with my 136.4 (maybe a few tenths of a point below?) since Monday.

Go me! Laughing

SmileLook forward to everyone else's posts too! Have a great day!

(It's raining/snowing here in good 'ole New England....so that sux...but I'm trying to not let it get me down...esp. b/c I have my PT session tonight and I don't want to miss it!)

#751 leelee19 Feb 13 2008 14:14
Last week's weight: 137.5

This week's weight: 135

I've really been working hard for these last 10 days, so hopefully at least a pound of that is fat.  I wasn't eating that great for a couple weeks before, so there is most likely some water weight loss in there.

Anyways, it's almost TTOM for me, so I'll probably be up a few pounds around tomorrow or Friday.  :(

(And P.S. it's not such great weather in North Carolina either...no snow--actually it's in the 60's, but it's all rainy and humid--not great for the hair, lol!)
#752 gretamarie Feb 13 2008 14:46
Awesome results so far this morning--leelee19 and smiles1979!  Hopefully this is a trend for everyone today!

Last week: 125.8

Today:  125.0

I lose so slowly and fluctuate so much at this point--but I can't complain since I have reached by 1st goal of 125.  I have a fundraiser event to go to tonight and it's a crab feed, so I feel okay about eating the crab (I'll try to take it easy on the butter!), but they also always serve Haagen Dazs ice cream bars for dessert.  That is probably 500 calories right there.  So the question is--do I come to terms now with the fact I'm going to eat one?  I mean it's one time a year!  Or....be strong and try to resist and then feel bad about it later when I cave?  I ran 3 miles this morning and I'm going to pilates class at lunch. Jury is still out on whether or not to eat the ice cream!

Happy Wednesday!
#753 rennai Feb 13 2008 14:48
Yay for Wednesday! This morning I was at 130lbs. I should be starting (TOTM) today or tomorrow so 130 is great to be at considering. I always eat like crazy right before so I was up to about 131-132 over the weekend but also wasn't exercising.

I had great workouts Monday and Tuesday and feel really good. I was thinking about getting a digital scale but I am afraid. I have a tendency to get obsessive so, although it's nice to see the small differences, I think I would freak out over the small gains too much.

This brings me to my next discussion... and I really hate to bring this up. It's really hard for me to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm used to less calories and whenever I get to 1200 I feel so bad and that I'm gaining. For example I think I ate about that much over the weekend when I went up to 131. How do I get to 1200 without gaining? Should I slowly progress by 100 calories a week or just really exercise and make sure my net is still 1200. Mentally it has been really difficult for me to eat 1200 calories and I'm hoping for your support, not necessarily judgement on my unhealthy habits. Thanks
#754 rennai Feb 13 2008 14:53
Gretamarie- I should have responded in my last post. I say eat the ice cream because you likely will anyway. If you tell yourself now you're going to eat it, you won't feel as guilty later when you cave. Then maybe try to eat enough crab and veggies if they have any that you're too full.

It's about time for girl scout cookies and I already have my plan in place. It's tradition. I will buy one box and one box only of samoas and eat the entire thing myself in one sitting. It's going to happen. It's terrible but I can't stop once I start. I think it's better than spreading it out or buying multiple boxes and having a cookie a day. I think my body is less likely to absorb as much if I shock it with a whole box at once lol.
#755 paulajmcd Feb 13 2008 15:25
Gretamarie, Go ahead and indulge just once :) You ran 3 miles already so your body will be ready for the extra calories.... (It's probably impossible to eat less than a whole one I imagine.)

Simignonne, Congrats on the size 4!! Wow, that sounds like a crazy story with the car wreck. I'm glad no one is hurt. One time, an elderly lady coasted through a stop sign right into the side of our old beat up car - as 4 of us were on our way to the French Quarter to celebrate Mardi Gras! My hubby felt sorry for her (no insurance) and we didn't feel like dealing with the whole ordeal, so we all just went on our way.

Rennai, I'm not sure what to tell you with the 1200 calories, hopefully someone here has some advice to share. I can't say I have any problems getting my daily intake!

OK, last weigh in was 135. This week - 135.0. (Yesterday was 133.8) I know there were a few tenths last week but I don't remember how many. Wish I'd recorded it now! I'm fine with this though, because I have been upping my weight training and though I am about the same weight, I definitely look better. Hubby has noticed too :)
#756 simignonne Feb 13 2008 16:39

Last week: 129

This week: 129.5

I haven't been able to work out at all since Sunday because besides the car accident I have suddenly come down with the flu.  I am back at work today but it's slow going.  I may have to readjust my goal from 127 to 128.  Losing weight is so hard for me!  But like most of you say, it's those last few pounds that are the toughest.  I'm not giving up yet!

#757 smiles1979 Feb 13 2008 17:35

To comment first of all...congrats to everyone! :D Whether gain a little or lose a little...or a lot...it's all a struggle that we're working to overcome! So....keep it up and continue to be proud of yourselves!

Gretamarie....I say eat the ice cream if you really want it. :D Try to figure that ice cream bar into your calorie intake for the day.  Sounds like you're already 'alloting' for the ice cream by working out extra...and maybe work on eating crab (w/o as much butter) and more veggies...as you and others have already mentioned.  :)

I did a little search and found the link below may help you figure out the nutritional value for the Haagen Dazs bars...:D so that you can have one and still enjoy yourself. :D Whoohoo!

http://www.haagen-dazs.com/products/bars.aspx

We shouldn't deprive ourselves, but just watch what else we are eating. 'All in moderation' as my Personal Trainer tells me. :D Have a good time tonight....so matter what you decide. :D

Rennai.....to comment about eating the 1200 calories a day. It's a hard thing for me too (mostly during the week) to reach that amount too.  It can certainly be done you would just have to look at what types of foods you're eating, the liquids you drink, any 'mindless' snacking and all that.  Maybe try eating more small meals a day (breakfast/mid morn. snack/lunch/mid aftrn snack/dinner/after dinner snack....and shoot for more of your intake at breakfast, lighter lunches and dinners and a 100 calories maybe for snacks.  Try eating more fresh fruit, veggies, whole grains and that sort of thing.  Milk is a good thing to have too!

As I've heard on BL show and so many other times....if you don't eat enough food/drink that you need for your daily intake, then your body will go into starvation mode and you either will gain or not lose b/c your body is storing what you have.  Try to think of your body as a furnace...you need to keep your body fueled (with the right foods/drink) to keep it running at it's best, otherwise it will stop burning the calories you need and you will not progress.

Just my 2 cents...hehe. Good luck!

Paulajmcd......congrats on your progress too! Upping weights in a workout always is something that makes me feel more 'powerful' and strong...and I too have been doing that....and it is starting to show. :D *Cheers* to your hubby too for noticing the changes! :D

Simignonne.....hope you feel better soon! Yes, weight loss is hard! *for me too!* It's never been an easy task for me either....just have to try and take it 'one day at a time.'

Glad you are keeping a positive attitude though too and keep you the good work!

Keep it up ladies....you are all doing WONDERFUL! :D

-Margo

#758 jredig Feb 13 2008 19:49
Wow! everyone is doing great.

Sadly i must report a gain:

Today 138.8

last week 137.2

It is almost my TOTM, so here is to me staying faithful to the diet/exercise despite the climbing scale this week. :(
#759 smiles1979 Feb 13 2008 20:07

Good to see the positive attitude, Jen! (Even w/ the small gain! :D) *hugs!*Smile

#760 hbbroadbent Feb 14 2008 13:30

ok, so jen i'm glad i'm not alone in posting a "gain!" but i'm taking the number with a grain of salt b/c i've been super hormonal the past few days. sun & mon weighed in at 125.6, then up- tues 127.8, wed & thurs 128.6. but the ups don't mean the trend isn't down, this is a marathon not a sprint. (can you tell i'm down about it w/ all my motivation cliches?)

last week: 127.0

this week: 128.6

i'm not planning on splurging on some crazy dinner for Vday. i've eaten enough crap the past couple days and my system would appreciate feeling clean again. luckily the husband is trying to lose weight too so i don't seem like a calorie counting freak. if we go to a seafood place, i'm thinking oysters (my fave!) and salad. if we go to my fave italian place, the (amazing) calamari salad and splitting a dessert. picking up a bag of rose petals after work and will lead a trail for when he gets home ;)

EDIT: that was before i realized i left my lunch and all my snacks at home!! which means i'll only have had 335 calories before 5pm :( so the new plan IS to splurge for Vday. Lamb Chops, Mashed Potatoes, Wine(maybe) and Dessert!
