| Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds | ||
| Jan 28 2008 19:41 | ||
| Hi, my name is Suzanne and I am 23 years old. I weigh 258.3 pounds(yikes) and would really like to get down to between 140 and 150. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in their 20's who has about that much they want to lose. We could work together and stay motivated to reach our goals!!! Also, if there is anyone in their 20's who has lost that much and wants to share their success story, I would love to hear it! Thanks! | ||

Wow that link is awesome! I love to see before and after results they really motivate me. I am glad to hear you guys like Austin, I too, love my city! I landed here after my parents came to visit an uncle and we decided to never go back! Before we were living in the Dallas/Ft Wort area and Austin is defenitely an improvement. Everyone is very eclectic and open minded. If any one ever visits let me know. Roundrock is a "suburb" of Austin It's actually it's own little city but they pretty much run together so it seems the same except for price the further out you go form downtown is definitely cheaper. But all in all it's not too bad a one bedroom apt starts @ around $700 and can go into the thousands for a loft or condo so you be the judge. Any-who I am fixing to head home , where I am too busy to check e-mail so I will see y'all later. Hope everyone has a great weekend! |

dalmalama: I know, she is in my opinion, an ideal example. I will work so hard to get there!
yessica: I love to see before and after pictures too! Otherwise I feel like it's impossible for someone who looks like me to get down to a size where I would feel confident. The proof is out there, we just have to add ourselves to it! Everyone else: Sorry for not catching up yet...but I will no worries! |

Hey all, I just wanted to check in, I don't get to get on here a lot with graduate school and all--it keeps me very busy!!!! This is a funny post---I am actually looking to move to Houston over the summer but I was thinking if Austin might be better for me?? Not sure yet--still up in the air--I'm currently going to grad school in Seattle but I am originally from West Texas area---Amarillo, Texas panhandle area--fun stuff---didn't think I would ever be moving back to Texas but looks like it might be the best bet right now--Seattle is just too expensive! I weigh in on this Monday and take my measurements--I'm a little nervous--I have a personal trainer and we only do my measurements once a month--so it's kind of a scary thing! You hope that out of whole month that the numbers will be good! but who knows--I avoid the scale at home and just do this once a month thing--I will report in how that goes----anyone doing anything fun for the weekend? It's spring break for me but I'm just relaxing and resting (r&r) |

Zia - I had the same problem (PCOS) about two years ago. It is definitely related to eating & weight. I'm at the same weight when I had the PCOS, but when I cleaned up my diet my cycles began again and I've been regular since. I must say my health has improved when I consciously gave up on foods that contained the following ingredients:
I try to limit nitrates/nitrites as well by cutting back on the amount of processed meats I eat. What I found interesting was when I was diagnosed, I was a habitual Subway sandwiches eater, and the ingredient content of that food is just as bad as the major fast food joints. When I quit Subway (and other fast food spots) my health was much better. I'm still way too heavy, but this is the beginning of a LONG journey :-) |

Booster - hey! I just moved from Lubbock. Though I'm not from there, I graduated from Texas Tech. All hail West Texas! Also, is anyone doing anything for St. Pat's? It's a family tradition to make corned beef, cabbage, potato soup and sometimes soda bread. My mom used to also make Irish potato candy (no potatoes, just supposed to look like one) - cream cheese, powdered sugar, coconut, rolled in cocolate or cinnamon. So yummy! but not on my cooking list this year... *sigh* edit - about the link that was posted... I honestly think she looks a bit prettier when she was bigger... is that bad of me? I just would rather hug the 240 pound girl much more than the 150 girl. I guess fat looks more inviting than boney shoulders! That said, the article was right to mention that now that she's smaller, she is healthier and at a much smaller risk of diabetes and other weight related problems. That also said, I'd be happy being around 190 or so again, heheh, as I haven't been 150 since high school and that was before my boobs and hips came in... |

i think she just looks athletic. looking at that picture, if i'd never seen one of her overweight, i would've thought she'd been an athlete like her whole life. |

Welcome to all of the new poster! This has become my "home" for this weight loss journey. I hope you'll get comfortable and call this place your own too. Just a little update. I have a weekly weigh-in on Saturday, and I am so very close to losing 30 lbs. since Jan. 2nd! That's an awesome birthday present if I don't say so myself! Thanks to everyone who has sent encouraging, heart-felt words my way. It's been tough lately, but at least the healthy living hasn't been impacted too much. I continue to look for the positives, and draw from my faith in God and awesome family and friends (new on-line buddies included). Here's to another day! |

I am making terrible choices on St. Pat's! And I'm excited, and I refuse to feel guilty about it! After I go drop my appellate brief off in the morning, I'm going to go to O'Connell's with my law school friends and have green eggs and ham. Then I am drinking green beer until I puke green puke! Then I'm going to spend Spring Break cleaning out my apartment and getting everything in order. I'll probably outline some of my courses, too. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! |

hi. i'm stevi. i'm new to this, but i'm glad i found your post. it makes me feel awesome to know that there's other girls out there my size who want to be healthy. i'm 5'4 & about 235 lbs. I want to lose about 75 instead of the 130 the site recommended. that would just be way too much. i like the fact that the girls my size on this site aren't really wanting to get super skinny, it makes me feel like i'm not alone in my battle for a normal weight. hopefully i can become friends with some of you & make some sort of support system. i don't really have much of that in my personal life. i would love to have some buddies though. |

So since we have a ton of people from Texas, it seems. I was curious as to which states/countries are represented here? I'm originally from Michigan (The U.P.), went to college in Minnesota, and currently live in California. |

Ok, so my first post from today was beating around the bush a little bit. I should just come right out and say it, because everyone deserves to be celebrated a little, right? So... today is my birthday. To celebrate, I went to this awesome Indian restaurant in Santa Barbara with my son and husband and ate to SATISFY! The drive along the coast was nice too. After that I indulged a bit more and had my most favorite treat, milk tea with boba (Some call it "bubble tea.") with my friend. Then I promptly put my son to bed, hopped on the treadmill for my Couch to 5k (Week 2, Day 2) and on to the elliptical for 60 minutes. Now I am truly pooped! I think I spent my first day of being 27 quite well!!! |

*welcomes stevi (sickgirl_79) to the group* What a sweet looking companion you have there! And yes, you're not alone. I don't think even one of us here aspires to be "bony-looking" in any way! I'm sure you'll find a ton of buds right here! |

I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio but am currently living in Seoul, South Korea. My contract for teaching is finished in August but I'll be staying here to get my my Master's degree in International Relations/Development. |

Hi all, Im 21...22 on march 29th. I weigh 210. I want to get down to 130 or so. Most important is my health, but I would love, love to get back down to the single digits in my jeans. I would love to be able to have my tummy out and feel good, not chubby. I was 190 before I got pregnant in about 2 yrs ago. After my daughter in August of 06 I was at 257. Ive slowly yo-yo'd my weight down. Ive plateaued at about 204-210 without any exercise at all, just calorie restriction. Im hungry and tired all the time though, so im gonna add moderate exercise. I bought an elliptical ((WHICH I LOVE 600 cal burnt in 34 min.)) I gurantee my body has been in starvation mode for a long time...Im really nervous about allowing myself to eat more calories but if I can keep up the exercise it should be no issue. |
