| HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way! if you have any suggestions, please tell me.... |

Blue - Are you kidding ... I can't wait to lose MY ample bosom. I hate luggin' these things around. The first time I lost weight a lot of weight I was kinda surprised when I lost those too. (I guess I forgot that I really wasn't naturally that "ample".) Now I look forward to it. As a matter of fact, they're well on their way right now (much to my husbands disappointment). LOL
Hey Kt, I went shopping today and found those 100 calorie Hostess Cupcakes you mentioned. They ROCK! |

this morning it was wonderful to catch up on all the posts....I was rolling around on the floor laughing at points and wanting to dance around at others for you guys. I still have to go workout but wanted my fix of you guys for the morning.... Thanks for all of the wonderful birthday wishes... in an effort to not make this post 10 pages long by itself...congrats to all that lost...welcome to the newest members...congrats on shopping, congrats on no points on insurance, congrats on losing the migraine...I get those too...Congrats to all staying where they want to on calories and don't worry to those who didn't...today is going to be great! It was asked how I know of the deficit...I am obsessed with doing the numbers I guess. In our house, because of the chaos sometimes...I have a desk calendar that each month I tear off that page and tape it to the fridge. I log everything there so that everyone can keep up with everything, therapies, appts, etc. I log my calories for the day there and the exercise. I supposedly burn 2800 cals a day which is 19600 a week. If I stay around 2000 a day, that is 14000, a deficit of 5600. Last week I was close, this week I started to go over but did great yesterday and so with today will be right at or under 14000 for the week. I think this next week I am going to try for a deficit of 1000 a day or 7000 a week. That would mean that I could eat 1800 a day. I will see if that helps for a week or so to shake things up. Like you guys talk about, keep my body wondering... Thinking about the numbers has helped with cravings. I have to look at my card to see where I am to know if I can eat anything. Then I check the time and project what I will need for the rest of the day and then decide if I really want something and usually it will pass then..Just a trick I have tried to use to help me. This is where I have really learned that I was using food to comfort me. Oprah talks about being addicted to food and I guess I am....sad huh??? stats for yesterday, day 52, exercise...41 minutes, 66 ounces of water, and 1861 calories. I am off to workout now, will check back soon. |

| ell...shivering has to use up calories...:-) Hope you can get oil in today...we are on propane here...they should be out soon to top us off before the summer. We had 2 different nights this past winter during blizzards that we had no furnace because of no power. We kept the stove on and I kept checking it all night to prevent fires and asphixiation. (sp?) We lose hot water here every time the wind blows form the north but soon we are going to bite the bullet and put in an electric water heater. Country living can be fun...:-) | ||

I'm 30 years old, 5'2" and 211 as of this morning. I just signed up to calorie-count yesterday. I'm a bit larger framed and very busty....BMI says I should be 122, but that's WAY too skinny for me...I'd look like hell. At 150, I wore a size 7. I'm good with that. I was on the Depo shot for 3 years and gained 60 pounds in that time frame. After talking with several other women, I do not advocate any woman being on it. Most everyone I've spoken to gained 10-20/year on it.
I have jack russell terriers and have met some WONDERFUL friends through showing and hunting my dogs. We have a little email group of us that does a diet challenge. Each Friday we weigh in. This round, we are going 8 weeks. We each pay in some money and whoever loses the most weight at the end of the round gets a gift certificate to a jack russell terrier based store. It doesn't cost us much, keeps us accountable, and gives us a great support base. We each commit to exercising at least 45 minutes/day for 4 days a week. I've started walking on a tread mill. I've found that it goes quicker if I change something every 5-10 minutes, ie, incline goes up a little, comes back down, but speed goes up a little, etc. I lost 1.2 pounds since yesterday.....I think the food log had a lot to do with that, too. I host a jack russell terrier trial over Labor Day weekend each year. My goal is to be at 175 by this year's trial. I've got some cute little capris I'm just dying to wear to show my dogs!!! |

BLJ-it's all about tweaking everything until we are comfortable. Planning snacks for yourself makes it easier too. Remember it's all about the little steps. I'm very fond of the little steps method. :) Making one or two small changes at a time can sometimes make all the difference.
Ginny, thanks for reminding me...I forgot to log my water yesterday. Wow, I thought I was into the numbers...you take it to a weekly thing. I do pretty much the same as you only on a daily basis. I am constantly checking my food log to see where I am and to achieve an A as much as possible. The boob subject-I'm pretty content with mine and do not want to lose them. I do however want to lose the stuff on the side. I'm sure they contribute in the cup though so I'm sure I'm screwed! Welcome wyo. You sound pretty together! That's great. I should keep your treadmill trick in mind. It sounds promising. |

hello all! today is lookin much better than the past week has been, especially yesterday. I got to sleep in b/c I told my boss if I didn't I would be a mess today. So I'm in at work, pretty much solo today so I'm takin it easy since this week has been so insane.
I did pretty good w/ what I ate yesterday. I had an adobe salad from dos coyotes (lettuce, black beans, corn, jicama, guac, sour cream, chicken, and some dressing of which i only used half) and I had no clue how many cals it had in it. So when I went to my parents for dinner I watched myself. The burgers had 300 cals in the patty alone so I bypassed it. Had some fruit salad, veggies, potatoe stuff that was def not low cal, and some macaroni salad that wasn't drenched in mayo. Then I had 2 small rice krispy treats. then went to my friend's bbq and only had 1 smirnoff ice, 1 shot of cap morgan tattoo, and a vodka and cranberry juice. Didn't snack much at all either. So all in all I think I did okay. Normally I would have just drank and drank and not cared. It was funny b/c I was telling everyone how many cals were in each drink (they didn't want to know!). haha I'm not too sure I"ll make my april goal, not even entirely sure hwat it was haha but i think it was to lose 8 pounds by the end of hte month. I'm still stuck at 222, which is only down 3 pounds. but hopefully once things mellow out and my body can relax it will drop at least 4 more pounds. We shall see! Have a great weekend everyone! |

Happy Saturday!!
Gosh I feel so full. I think I must have eaten too much so far today. Hard to log sometimes when you make homemade stuff. I had some chicken fajitas w/o the cheese or the sour cream. I even washed off some of the mix because it was high in sodium. Did have a bit of avacodo (good fats yeah, but high in cals) Just haven't felt this full in a while. I'm kind of freaking about weighing tomorrow. I have done pretty well with the calories, but I am worried I won't be down. Clothes don't feel any different or any other signs that I can tell. So you girls from Wyoming, It's so beautiful there for sure but don't those winters get to you? One more word on the boobs. I just don't want to be left with empty little flaps of skin you know? yikes. blj-good for you on keeping within your cals! |

| Ok I just measured myself....and it's been since approx Jan or Feb since I did. I just started dieting March 13 like I said previously. Anyhow.....I said all that to say I have lost a total of 5 in. of my body. Biggest loss was off my butt and chest and I am at over an inch loss in both areas. YIPEE!!!! | ||

Yeah!!!! janella
Blue...Yummy...fajitas, they are my favorite. Yes the winters can be cold but I love it. You just have to be prepared, like what are you going to do for heat if there is no electricity to tell your propane heater to turn on. We keep emergency kits in both trucks, and under our house. We have enough food to live for almost 2 months packed away in case of emergencies. Think of Nebraska and other states that lost power for 2 weeks around Christmas time... Kt...we are here for you whenever you make your goal weight, little goals and the big one... |

Wow! You guys are awesome. Busy, busy , busy....lol That's great. Love to see all the posts. Even though I can't be on as often as I'd like I know that by the time I come back on here I will get all the encouragement I need to keep me going until the next time. Welcome to all new ones!
I weighed in Friday- 216lbs. Stayed the same...been 216 for 3 weeks now. That's ok though...no gain so I'm happy about that. :) I may up my protein and eat less carbs and see if it will jump start my losing. I'll try it for 2 weeks and see how it goes. Went for a walk with hubby and dog tonight. Beautiful evening walk. Also worked in my flower garden today most of the day and got a sun burn on my arms...ouch! Didn't realize the sun was so hot and lost track of time...lol. Supposed to be a beautiful day tomorrow too. vk- glad your migraine is gone...they are no fun. :( Love reading your posts. You and hye, and itsmy are always so upbeat and I look forward to your posts. Katie- You're doing well my dear girl. So glad. Grads coming soon and you will look beautiful. Any plans to celebrate yet? |

hey mama- congrats on no gain. sometimes its discouraging but at least its not a gain. at least you know what to do to get yourself out of the funk.
no real plans for graduation. I don't have the money for a trip anywhere. just a grad party w/ my parents 25th anniversary party (we're doing them together). i'll do another party w/ just friends but nothing big. looks like my sister's wedding will be june 2, just 2 weeks before my graduation which is kinda what i expected she would end up doing so i'm hoping to lose 10 pounds by then. |

| katie- Ya I know, I do get discouraged but I should be used to it. I have always, always lost weight very slowly. More like the turtle than the rabbit I guess. But remember the turtle did win...lol. I think you and your honey should do something really special for your grad. Is he graduating too? Maybe a romantic supper on the beach. Doesn't have to be something that costs alot. And i'm certain you will lose more than the 10 pounds by June 2. Our anniversary is June 6th. Hummm wonder what hubby has planned this year....;) | ||

Hey, I live in Utah, and my house is near the border of Wyoming. Wyoming is beautiful and they have those fun, illegal fireworks! :0) Haven't been posting much. Lots going on in my world...dealing with a 2 1/2 year old who thinks he is 10 and can do everything himself. He cries ALOT, I am sure the neighbors think we aren't very nice to him. I always worry about that, but I just cannot let him do everything he thinks he can or wants to do. Yeah, he'll be grrrrrreat when he is 16....
I haven't really lost any weight, in fact I think I have gained about 5 lbs in the last little bit. It's that TOM and I have been eating like mad. I have seen a few of you talking about the scale and the daily weighing thing...I was thinking of packing my scale away until we move at the end of May. Then, maybe instead of being 5 lbs heavier, I'd be 10 lbs lighter? Have a great night, everyone. |

haha hopefully he has something romantic planned for you. How many years have you been married?
my b/f had to take a quarter off this year for shoulder surgery so he will graduate one quarter behind me in december. so we can't really plan a trip together plus he's goin on a trip to israel about 2 weeks after my graduation so even if we could we wouldn't be able to go anywhere together. our anniversary is in july so maybe we will do something more special for that but probably not. we haven't had much money to do stuff the past few years. It sucks b/c even if my family were to give me a trip for a grad present, I wouldn't want to go alone so either they woul dhave to pay for my b/f or he owuld have to pay which he can't. its just too complicated! i'm really hoping i'm not bloated and feeling like crap tomorrow b/c I have to go help my sis look for wedding dresses adn look for bridesmaid dresses for me and my cousin. the last thing I want to do is watch someone else try on wedding dresses while I have to be in a bridesmaid dress yet again! hopefully I at least won't feel icky |
