  Jan 22 2007 17:59
I'm looking for a 130/120 club, but I don't see any topics started.

If anyone knows of the proper topic, would you mind letting me know?

Thank you :)

Offcial Wednesday Weigh in

Last Wed: 130.8

Today: 130.2 (would like to get this to 129 by next week)

Goal Weight: 125

Wow, lots of great responses regarding my little problem....I am going to try to up my veggies and maybe try benefiber - i just want to be regular again!

I hope all of those that are sick right now start feeling better.  Being sick is no fun, but to not be able to get to the gym or do your daily workouts doesn't make things any better.  Just focus on getting some rest ,drinking lots of fluids and recovering and you will be back to your old self sooner than you think Laughing

Jen - Your knowledge of nutrition and fitness is amazing.  We are lucky to have you in our community!  I know I am not under-eating - believe me - i eat plenty, I think I am even overeating.  I just started using the calorie counter tool to add all my calories consumed in the day and I have to say that I am a bit shocked at how many calories I am consuming.  I thought it was less, but that just means I need to put my self in check and watch things more closely.  And what is carb. cycling - I am curious.  P.S.  I have took your advice and added another snack between lunch and dinner (total of 5 sm meals a day) and I have noticed over the past couple of days that my hunger level has definitely gone done in the evenings.  Thanks!

Margo - I am so glad I have someone to chat with about the show.  I saw the previews last week when Paul got upset over Kelly's video, but the dumb presidential update thing kept popping up during the show last night, so I did miss some stuff.  I agree with you, I also like Brittany and Bernie.  They are both so cute and my heart melted when Bernie said he just wants to complement his girlfriend after watching her video.  Ahhhh, how sweet.  P.S.  Next week's show looks like a doozie.  I can't wait!

Paula - your spicy bean salsa sounds delish!  I will have to try it.

Rennai - Thanks for the bread suggestion - I am always leary of bread because of high calories, high carbs, but this one sounds pretty good.  And oddly enough, I just got some blueberries this weekend from WholeFoods - so hopefully that helps...I think I may get some BeneFiber too just to see if it helps.

Thanks for your response, Jen!

Well, my scale at home sucks, so I'm never really sure how much I weigh...when there's nothing on it, the scale just rests on 3-4 lbs.  Still, I'm just going to go by that number so I don't confuse myself.  There's one at the gym too, but I always forget to weigh myself there.

So...

Today: 140 (probably more like 137--I'll check at the gym tomorrow--and I am definitely at the gym every Wednesday, so I can start using the scale there in the morning.)

Goal Weight: 125

EDIT: I did check at the gym today and it was about 137.5.  It was in the middle of the day and I had my clothes/shoes on, but I'm going to go with that.
#723 simignonne Feb 07 2008 02:45

OMG!! It's been like one day and I've missed out on three pages worth of action?!  You guys are amazing!

Welcome to the newbies!

Last Wed: 130

Today: 129

Goal: 123 by April 1st

Mini Goal: 127 by Feb 29th.  It's going to be hard but I think I can do it.

I was reading about all the talk of models, I wish I could be one.  I really want to have really classy and tastefull boudoir pictures done of me for my husband.  I'm still working on who would take those... :)  I think that sexy pictures of your self is one of the best ways to love your body.  I'll post one of my tummy that my hubby took of me, every time I look at it I think.. ok 125 I'll see you once again!  It's a huge driving force for me.

Hope you are all doing well!

#724 paulajmcd Feb 07 2008 14:28

OK, forgot to weigh myself yesterday...  But here's my stats based on this morning:

Original weight 141

last week  (week 1) 137

this morning 135

Yeah!  I've been weight training so I figured I had maintained or gained but am thrilled to see the # down!

My hubby actually stepped on the scale this morning, saying, "Does this thing work?" and was surprised to see himself at his highest weight yet.  He then said, "Maybe I shouldn't eat all that candy."  I hope my eating habits are wearing off on him.  : )   Maybe my results will motivate him too.

#725 rennai Feb 07 2008 14:59
Good Morning,

I'm not posting my weight anymore except on Wednesdays. Mostly because it never changes. My friends cardio classes are good though. 3 days a week and I guess they're changing which is cool. Last night we did kick boxing and wow I am sooo out of shape! It was hard! I think tonight we'll do pilates and I'm sure I will be the worst at that too.

Jen, I agree with collinsj617m we are lucky to have you!

simignonne- Boudoir pics are a great idea. I just took some of my best friend 2 weeks ago. I knew they would make her feel better about herself (after having a baby a month ago) and they did! She looks so hot it's incredible. I would show you but that's not really my place. I do wedding photo/videography so I knew what I was doing behind the camera but not with boudoir. I met some photographers at a wedding I shot who had their own studio in San Diego so I just looked at their site and copied the types of poses and some of the shots. If you know anyone you feel comfortable with and who knows a camera I would suggest just doing that. The site is womancaptured.com.

That reminds me, wedding season starts this saturday which means working 12-15 hours with 1 break to eat every Saturday for the next 4 months. That's healthy :(
#726 hbbroadbent Feb 07 2008 17:29

greta i hope you feel better!

i'm doing my offical Wed weigh in today, so nah.

  • highest: 155
  • 1/30 128.0
  • 2/7 127.0!

rennai, i checked out that model site. alumunda is beautiful and that nude shot, yeah looks like good stomach tone but not over skinny. it was intersting seeing the pics of daisy lowe, gavin rossdale's daughter.

jen, as far as models' w/ similar bodies, that's why i like the VS catalog b/c so many of them are long waisted like me. yeah there's no point reaching for something that doesn't work with what god gave you!

paula-thank you for the black bean salsa recipe!! yum yum. i made some chili like that last weekend, corn, beans, tomatoes etc, just added turkey. but i'd rather have the salsa!

simignonne: that's what i wanted to give my husband as his wedding gift! (boudoir photos) but i wasn't quite in tip-top shape yet ;) though thinking about it now, i'm sure the photographer would have made tham look fabulous anyway. are you by a big city b/c online i found studios in chicago that did it. or have a girlfriend see what she can do with a digital and have them developed my snapfish or kodakgallery and sent to you. haha my MIL gave me a huge scrapbooking set for christmas, which i'm afraid i won't use, but i told nick we should use to make *private* albums ;) but mama always told me don't get captured on film!

shopping spree yesterday @ kohl's 2-day sale. so happy. found a pair of jeans i love- QUESTION Should I by a second (identical) pair in this size (Jr's 7, though I'm a Misses 6), or should I buy another pair in my next size down (which could be dicey as a Jr's 5, not cut for Misses, even if i go to a 4)? The are dark indigo, so fading is a concern, hence the second pair, but I don't know how soon I'll be a smaller size, if ever? Or I could just wait and buy them not on sale. If they're still there! Decisions! I only have until tonight to decide. Also got a black turtleneck, black wrap cardigan,  2 more jeans (skinny and wide leg, the 1st was bootcut), gray trousers, a black dress, and gray herringbone tights. Wardrobe building blocks in my new size!! And in the last couple weeks THREE girls have asked me what I did to lose (I sent them all to CC) so it's finally, truly, noticable.

#727 jredig Feb 07 2008 17:38
paula -- glad to hear you had a better day and it is great to see you are timimg protein around your workouts.  I think you will be happy with the difference it can make.

congrats on the weight-- you are rockin it!

Haha that is funny about your husband.  My husband is on the same diet and exercise program as me (but he inspired me, not the other way around) and it has been really wonderful to work together towards our goals. I really enjoy weight training with him

Except when he makes me do "just one more negative" on the bench :(

rennai --  wow  that nude cover is beautiful.

I could never look like that, though, no matter how I dieted.  I used to try in H.S.  (I was anorexic) but I have since got a better grip on reality -- my hips are too wide and I am too short and my waist will never be 24 inches (even at 110# it was never a 24 more like 26").   So now I am going for lean and sporty because that IS soemthing my frame can support.  It is all about being the best you can be, right?

But at 5'9" you may be able to pull soemthing like that off :)

That work schedule sounds horrid,  you must really like what you do.

collins617 -- funny huh?  we all have had the same problem

congrats of the weight.  Glad to hear the snack helps -- best thing you can do for your body is to give in lots of small meals.  Afterall it can only process so much nutrients in one sitting, so any excess goes to fat but by spreadign out your nutrients you body is able to more efficiently use them and you will notice less cravings even when you are consuming less.

You can google carb cycling to get lots of plans/suggestions on it for your weight and activity level.  But the nuts and bolts of it you do a high carb day (250g ish), low carb day (150g ish), no carb (30g ish) and cycling them, (this varies depending on who you talk to whether you do no, low, high or no, low, low, high...)  The end resultis that you are eating low carb but without feeling sluggish.  YOu also eat your weight in protein each day and fats stay the same, so on high carb days you are actually eating more calories.

I currently do not do this becasue of my bike commute, I do too much cardio to make a no carb day possible but I do alternate between low and the high (when I feel i need it).  And my husband who only runs 2-3 days a week, does it but has not figured out his favorite order yet.

leelee- well check in when you get to the gym  -- if you do end up buying a new scale I would recommend getting one that is sensitive and can read 1/5 a pound (it is nice to see the little changes).

simi-- congrats on the weight, keep up on the good work!  Pictures are great motivation :)  and you WILL get back to 125, no worries and it will feel even better this time around.
#728 simignonne Feb 07 2008 18:53

Ok I was bad last night.  It's amazing how much more guilty I feel than I thought I would knowing I would have to fess up to you guys.  I ate dinner at 10pm... and it was mac and cheese!! Ahhh it's my addiction, I never grew out of that 5 or 6 year old stage.  So there you have it.

Today is a work out day as well as tomorrow so I'm sure it's not going to set me back too far.

jredig - I really hope you are right about getting back down to 125, sometimes it feels like it is never going to happen!

hhbroadbent - You've done so well with your weight loss!  Congrats! If you make your goal you should totally get those photos done because being caught on film and looking ridiculously sexy is never a bad thing.

rennai - I wish I lived near a bigger city, Atlanta is about as big as it gets for us but I'm going to see what my friends and I can come up with.

paulajmcd - I cannot believe that you are down two pounds in one week. That is amazing!  I hate it when my husband gets on the scale, somehow it's twice as easy for him to lose weight than it is for me!  It's a good thing he is working on muscle mass instead of weight right now :)

I wish I could be at the gym right now instead of at work!  The hours I could put in there....

#729 jredig Feb 07 2008 19:32
It is always easier  for the boys to lose afterall it is a smaller % of their total body weight.  That is why the last 5-10# are so hard, it is a VERY large % of your total mass.  So keep that in mind.  It involves a lot more dedication to shed the "last few" than the first few.  Stay positive.
#730 simignonne Feb 07 2008 19:47
Thanks, today has been more difficult than most.  You are so encouraging!
#731 brianneo Feb 07 2008 20:10

Simi - that tummy picture of you is gorgeous!  I've never heard of boudoir pictures, but I'm guessing it's tasteful, artistic nude pictures.  I LOVE that idea as a gift, but am not really comfortable being naked in front of a photographer.  When I hit my goal weight, that's the present I'll give to myself and my hubby.  great idea!

Honeymoon in 1 day! (tomorrow)  Laughing

#732 rennai Feb 07 2008 23:46
brianne0- Boudoir is more like classy tasteful lingerie or scantily clad :) go to http://womancaptured.com/ for examples. Great photographers and super sweet too! Much easier to convince yourself to pose for since you can be covered up
#733 collinsj617 Feb 08 2008 04:10

simignonne- your sexy tummy pic is awesome!

I agree you ladies, boudoir pictures are an awesome gift to give to your special person and even if you don't feel 100% "fit", they still make you feel sexy because you are doing something a little naughty and no matter what, your partner will find them sexy regardless.  I had a friend take some boudoir pix for me a few years ago for a valentine's gift and I still check out those pix and say, "damn I looked good".  It is great motivation for me to get back to that body!

#734 hbbroadbent Feb 08 2008 13:55

126.6 today

simignonne- that picture in your gallery is gorgeous! (love the bookcase in the background too). i love those kind of body pics blown up in black and white for bedroom wall art. very artistic/classy/ but sensual to set that right bedroom mood- but not scandalous needing to be hid from visitors.

that's fun that there's so many young marrieds in here! in my day to day life i'm pretty much the only one.

it's honeymoon day for bri!

here's a recipe i'll share for valentines day, and i'd love to hear any healthy treat ideas you have. from Good Housekeeping mag, only 25 cals/piece

  • Chocolate Pistachio Apricots
  • Melt broken up chocolate in microwave for 20-30 seconds to melt
  • Dip 1/3- 1/2 Dried apricot in chocolate
  • Roll in chopped pistacios
#735 gretamarie Feb 08 2008 15:11
I love your pi simignonne!  I thought of doing that too, for many reasons.  One-it would shock the hell out of my husband and two-I think we should capture our bodies looking the way they do now, since it will probably never get much better!  You are brave and inspiring!

Heather-Congrats on your awesome weight loss.  126! You should be so excited!  As for your shopping spree--I'm jealous.  I need to buy some new clothes, but I think I'm afraid to buy smaller clothes and then not be able to wear them for long for fear I will gain it back.  If I were you, I would buy two of something I really love--the way it fits you now, and maybe a spare in a smaller size too.  I have often regretted not buying two of something once I realize how much I wear it, and then I can't find it anywhere else.  Maybe I need to check out Kohls this weekend.

Everyone is doing so good!  It is really motivating!  I was just thinking today about how my short term goal is 124 by March 30th, but long term is 120 by July 1st.

Since I didn't officially weigh in yesterday--here it is for this week:  125.8.
#736 smiles1979 Feb 08 2008 17:35

Just wanted to say...

I agree with Gretamarie...

I too am afraid to buy clothes in a smaller size (for motivation and such) before I would be able to fit into them...b/c I'm afraid I won't ever get there......or if I do will gain all the weight back and then have clothes that don't fit...even though I'm trying to lose weight and working out and all that! :D

Kohls is one of my fav. 'regular' stores to check out..:D Maybe I should stop in this weekend....hmmm...well as long as the snow isn't too bad...

Well I forgot to weigh in on Wed....and I did weigh in on Monday....though it could have fluctuated a lot by then...for various reasons....so I will just post again this next week. :D

Congrats everyone on your success so far! Have a great weekend!

#737 jredig Feb 08 2008 17:53
you guys have all inspired me to do a sexy pic for my hubby.  his b-day just past but next year...

OMG those apricots sound really good...  thanks for the post  hbbroadbent (better than just chocolate, right?)

I also buy clothes to motivate.  Not too small b/c I do not seem to change size much, instead I just get squishy.   But I buy something more revealing than I woudl normally wear.  I have already purchased some skimpy bikinis (with a not-so-modest backsides) for my trip to Mexico this year.  Which is in June, so here is to getting a body that I wont be ashamed to put in them.
#738 smiles1979 Feb 08 2008 18:02

Congrats Jen! :D Mexico is always a great motivator to get in shape for swimsuit season.....esp. something like a bikini! :D

I have been contemplating a LOT already about buying a bikini for this summer...though haven't gotten the guts up to purchase yet b/c I am still afraid...haha! I don't think I've been able to wear a bikini since I was a little girl! haha! So....I think it's time...:D

Keep up the good work! :D

#739 jredig Feb 08 2008 18:17
do it :)

plus they are cheaper if you buy them now (before they restock for next season)
#740 smiles1979 Feb 08 2008 18:30

Jen-

:D Thank you for push! :D

I tried some on at Target a couple weeks ago..haha..but the tops didn't seem to have enough support and so I didn't buy one then.

So...I guess I need to find a brand/type that is going to have enough 'push up' on the top and coverage for the bottoms..haha..but then again if my workouts/eating right pay off...MAYBE I will be able to buy a pair of bottoms that are smaller.....:D

I am itching to buy from VS....that would be GREAT if I could look good in one of their bikinis! Though I also would like to get a bikini from somewhere that I might also be able to order online.....I've looked at a few sites and it's overwhelming..

Hell..maybe I'll do it today...and I will review the return policy just in case my impulse buy doesn't pan out. :D

Whoohoo!
