Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

Yes, I absolutely have some ideas!  I think highlighting would be beautiful.  Just remember that the frame of your face should have slightly lighter highlights and a few more than the rest of your hair.

Nothing says glamour like curls.  I think loose curls around your face or even pulled back in a beautiful clip would be nice. I found a picture of Meg Ryan, who has the same length of hair as you, with curls.  www.short-hair-care.com/shorthairstyles.htm

Hope I helped! I won't be offended if you don't take my advice though! LOL! Can't wait to see the pics of you dolled up!

just looked.. she is soo beautiful :) wonder if i could pull off those curls?? lol..  and no, i didnt know that  the frame of my face should have lighter highlights and more than the rest of my hair.. shouldnt a stylist know that??  lol.. i hope, lol.. cos my memory is shot and i wont remember that lol..
#703 unicat Mar 20 2007 21:49
ugh ... my son made tortillas with cheese melted on em and rolled up like a burrito for his lunch.. and i soooooooooooooo want one.. ugh..

unicat - go for the highlights.  I did back in October when my daughter got married and it turned out great.  Nothing but compliments from friends and family.  Like your hair mine is short, basically the highlights around my face are lighter as courtswim suggested and darker on the back of my head.

glad to see I wasn't the only who didn't know what flan was!!!!

off to workout, probably won't be back tonight, see everyone tomorrow.

Funny, I don't know any of you, but feel like I know you... does that make sense.
#705 unicat Mar 20 2007 23:14
it makes total sense V :)  we are all going through the same type of stuff :)  enjoy your workout, and have a good nights sleep :)

Ok, Flan...

Flan is sort of a solid custard pastry.  It's vanilla flavored and wonderful!  LOL! It's usually in pie form.

There's an episode of Friends where Monica makes flan for Rachel's birthday.  I can't remember what season....sorry.

I have to stop talking about it though b/c my goal for tomorrow is to not buy a piece!

I feel really connected to everyone as well.  I'm so glad I found CC b/c whenever I start to feel like I can't lose the weight, I just hop online and I get an instant "pick-me-up"!

courtswim - try this link for your info on the flan - hope it helps! :)

or this one might be more generic

**edited to be to the right person! ;)

Hilarious - was truly fun to read about:
flan
cravings
hair highlights
dresses
friends episodes...

I feel like I'm at a girlie sleepover!

I have a new topic for us:

salad!  I (thankfully) love salad and have large ones everyday. However now they are boring. I used to be known for my salads which always included something from this list:
homemade dressing (olive oil, honey, dijon mustard, garlic)
toasted pine nuts
spinach
roasted almonds
pecans
strawberries
apples
cranberries
bleu cheese
feta cheese

NOW - they are pretty much lettuce, tomato and low-cal dressing. I sometimes put smoked turkey on them.

What I really miss is the crunch! Nuts and even soy nuts have too many calories. I'm dying for some new healthy ingredients.

Any ideas???
#709 unicat Mar 21 2007 00:40
lol.. my salads are always the same too.. mine are lettuce, mushrooms, tomato, green pepper, red onion, and cucumber..  with ff dressing.... oh and ff mozarella cheese...  i use to add something like turkey or ham to it.. but the sodium factor annoys me, and if i am gonna add meat to my salad its gonna be a lot of it.. lol...
#710 jenniferdiane Mar 21 2007 00:46
You're righ unicat.... I should really have more fresh veggies around. Red onion yes!  I also love zucchini in a salad. LOVE mushrooms but gotta have them cooked. The FF cheese was just so rubbery and without taste that I stopped using it. I do however use the FF american slices with egg beaters for an omelet.

Also - what are the fudgesicles and dreamsicles that are only 30 & 40 calories? I have the no-sugar added fugesciles but they are 50 cals.

Still need ideas for crunch on the salad!

Next thread (after the salad one exhausts)... what does everyone drink for libations. I have some yummy low-cal martini recipes!

I know this is going back a few posts but...
I truly pity those of you who must go to a chain restaurant to get wings--I LIVE in wing capital USA (BUFFALO!!!) And do I know where to go to get the best one's anywhere--In fact I go every friday without fail!

My daughter had her baby today--8 lbs 4 oz. 21 inches!  He is a beautiful baby and his mommy is doing great!  I added pics to my profile--I don't look as fat in the face as I usually do--so up they go! LOL!

Hospital food sucks by the way...

i am constantly going to the grocery store.. cos i keep running out of veggies for my salad...  carrots would give you a crunch lol..  i miss having croutons and bacon bits.. yumm lol...   i cant eat mushrooms raw unless they are on my salad.. lol.. i lovvvvvvvvve fried mushrooms, ha...

can you tell i have nothing to do... its only 351 pm and i am done with everything around the house that needs to be done...  guess i will start supper soon (and make my salad..) but probably not for another half an hour.. lol..
#713 unicat Mar 21 2007 00:56
yay dee :) congrats to you and your daughter lol..   love the pic :)  you look thin :)  and yes hospital food sucks.. i have had to spend the day at the hospital almost twice each year for the past 7 years...my son has had multiple surgerys...  i always totally stuff my self on the most awful things when i am there all anxious and worried about him...
#714 jenniferdiane Mar 21 2007 01:13
haha! You can see who is online tonight. CONGRATS Dee! You do NOT look old enough to be a grand-mommy! Beautiful new boy!

I have 2 boys and I LOVED my time in the hospital. There was something dreamy about laying around and having everyone dote on you. I cried both times my childbirth stays were up and they made me go home.

Ok - time for bed. I hear hubby ending his workout... by the way my workout was 55 minutes tonight. I felt SO good: 15 minutes weights 5 minutes warm-up 20 minutes running on the treadmill (running is a new thing for me) 10 minutes stepper 5 minutes crunches.
#715 unicat Mar 21 2007 01:15
congrats jenniferdiane on some good exercise tonight :) now get some rest :) (i dont see how you can sleep after exercising, lol.. its what gets me moving in the morning lol..)
#716 teenwolf Mar 21 2007 03:01
congratulations dee!!!  your family looks so healthy and happy!  yeah for the new member of the family now in the world! :)

jenniferdiane- i just made the yummiest salad yesterday (my husband loved it!) and i don't normally make salads.  it wasn't exactly super healthy, but it was dinner so that's ok ... it was called fajita salad with cilantro-lime sauce.  the chicken was cooked in a little oil w/ cumin, paprika , chili powder, salt and pepper.  the salad had romaine lettuce, green bell peppers, rf jack cheese, sliced olives, pinto beans and a tomato w/ the cilantor-lime sauce over the whole thing - YUMMY!!  it was really good!

i just got back from a run and my hubby is making dinner.  i ran w/ my new hrm and i normally log that run for 300 and just found out today that it's actually 400 calories burned - whoot! :)  also, i think my heart rate is just higher than others.  i could totally talk at 175.  my hrm said that my avg hr was 165 and my max during the run was 180.  i wasn't dying so i figure it's cool.  i've printed some articles on heart rates that i plan to read on the plane to new york.  i can't wait to find out how many calories i really burn in kickboxing tomorrow! :) fun, fun, fun!  it makes me want to try everything!
#717 teenwolf Mar 21 2007 03:05
whoops!  my message earlier about flan was for court, not unicat, oopsies, too much to read, my brain got mixed up! :)
#718 unicat Mar 21 2007 04:23
forgot, today was two months since i joined cc.. :)  i have lost a total of 13.5 lbs... (would be more except for saturdays dinner lol)... i lost like 9 lbs the first month then the rest this month :)  i love being here, and chatting with all ya'll :) you guys are the greatest :)
#719 courtswim4life Mar 21 2007 07:05
Teenwolf- Thank you! That site confirmed my suspicions...one piece of flan from the store is half my calories for the day! Yikes!  It's easier to just be in denial about the calories until you actually type in the number of grams and see the result.

No more flan for me!!
#720 srd1214 Mar 21 2007 10:27
hey all!

just did my catch up reading! :)

for salads I usually put carrots in for some crunch, or I'll add just a few croutons and break them in half or break them up and sprinkle them on the salad. That usually gives my salad enough crunch! My favorite FF dressing is Kraft Fat Free Catalina dressing. It's the tasiest I've found but, it still has that rubbery taste, but with my bits of croutons, it isn't too bad!

djrizzo- congrats on the baby!! I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well!

these fudgesicle things sound good!

I just added to my journal, so any feedback would be appreciated! :)
