ACTUALLY --  thinthought,  ( :   I wish EVERYONE said something every day.  I know it's asking a lot, but "I constantly read these- I just don't post b/c I don't have much to say :( but I will try..."

I do not believe that is true   =P    Cool beans on the tucked in shirt, dude.  that's a big one.  I never do that --  I did, however, wear today a skirt I bought and could never wear , even the day I brought it home.  how sad.  but nice today -- cute cordouroy and burgundy,

I PM'd you in explanation, but I think you said a lot.  I totally want the recipe and that's good advice, immom!  I cannot drink right before I go do stuff.  I hydrate continuously....   I try too never to eat the 2 hours before I jog if possible..... sometimes I come home on the weekends after lunch or dinner out and jog/wog/walk, but I hate it......  I always get heart burn.

That brings up a fitness question....   I had almost no problems jogging 3-5 miles a day all winter, and now when it is way warmer and SO HUMID, I am dying......   help?

Hey ladies,

NOTE TO EVERYONE!!! Jillian Michaels is NOT your friend!!!!! But boy is she my new best buddy!!!! I have to thank Zochia for reminding me I had the 30 day shred. I have been soing it for the past two days and i have never been so optimistic about losing weight before. This hurts so good and got my heart rate pumping and got ME using weights I hate weights. This has got to work. I even did my walking today (I can't wait until I graduate to running). I am feeling great and just wanted to share with you all. I have to go make dinner so I will try to check in later....if my arms stop hurting. LOL

Did someone say shirt tucking that a long way off for me. LOL

I would love to have some 70 or 80 degree weather!!  But yeah, you just have to do what your body can do and not stress about whether that is faster or slower than last week because weather can play a major role in how your body performs.

So far this week I have stuck to 1400 calories and have walked 1-2 hours a day so i am hoping I will at least see a 1 lb drop from last Friday!  AND No Candy this Week!  I found that I couldn't have just one piece and then ignore it the rest of the day-there is candy all over the office!  Its funny how everyone talks about wanting to be healthier and lose weight and then bring in lots of candy and treats for everyone to eat!  Its just become the office thing to do, and it is too bad.

Anyone have any healthy treat ideas that I could bring in to share with the office?    Perhaps I can start a new trend.

#684 immom May 07 2008 04:30

Thanks ladies.

I was definately dehydrated. It felt awful. I drank atleast 4 glasses of water during the morning before my sunday run and more than that before my monday afternoon run(not all at once and not right before I run). My next run is Thursday, hopefully it will end better.

I walked with my kids for 30 minutes. My littlest on my shoulders for 1/2 of it(thats gotta burn calories). They looked for snakes on the way home. Didn't find any this time. As long as we don't find any rattlesnakes Its fun. just got off the elliptical. I hurt my foot yesterday. Still sore so I only did 1/2 an hour.

Hay! So sorry I have been away for a while. Had a long weekend and then have been feeling quite ill. TOTM with me at the moment so feel crap because of that.

Also, went to the docs last night and have been diagnosed with IBS. Glad I have found out what is wrong now - phew! And at least I can start doing something about it. Need to identify my trigger foods. Not eat big meals (5/6 small ones throughout the day). Bad foods include - caffine, alcohol, chocolate, fatty foods, dairy, sometimes wheat (although I think I'm ok there). Need to eat a high fibre low fat diet from now on, which is very healthy so I will crack on!!

Was 152.8 before TOTM but no weighing until Friday now!

I am so sore from priming my living room.  My shoulders/neck/back -- OW     ( :  BUT the LR is looking pretty good.  At least the 1/2 we're mostly done priming.   ; D

Jogged yesterday before I started helping J with the painting --  GO ME.

Made spaghetti squash and homemade pasta sauce for dinner last night.  Bok choy/brocolli/cauliflower/onion/carrots and shrimp stir fry for dinner tonight.

Hoping to see a one pound drop for Friday's weigh in.   ( ;

Hope you are all well and happy!

Hi- I am going to quit being a wallflower and join in more often :)

I would also like to have warmer weather- it is raining and gross today and we haven't had many warm days... I am trying to train for a 10k at the end of this month, and I really hate running for a long period of time on the treadmill...

Sorry for all of those in humid climates, that makes it hard to run... I could also use some humidity as it is really dry... maybe send some here and you will be ok there?

Congrats Olivia on the skirt- it is so fun to find things fitting.... (and the tucked in shirt thing might not have looked great, but I was just happy that the shirt fit under the waistband- lol :))

ok the lasagna- it was layered baked zucchini in strips with ground turkey and tomato sauce in the middle...... not real lasagna, but it was good- I am having leftovers for lunch :)

I also like spaghetti squash... this is making me hungry

#688 olivia77 May 07 2008 16:01
me too, thinthought!!  (hungry)

I am glad you joined in!!!   ( ;

I am going to have to post a help topic in fitness about increasing my hot/humid running stamina....   It's so MUCH harder now than it was when it was freezing/  snowy/ icy.  For goshsakes, I ran every day the week my school was out because of a huge ice storm, but I cannot keep going in the hot and humidity.  Crazy......

Ok, this recipe....  so you all just sliced the the zuke length wise to get strips?  no ricotta sub like cottage cheese?  YUMMY

ok, ladies -- I am inspired.  You favorite, low cal, easy meals??????

I love these and you can put pretty much whatever you want as far as dried fruit- even have done chocolate chips or stirred in some peanut butter...

brown rice syrup can be substituted with honey or light corn syrup or both (tried them all and they all work :))

I guess i should also give credit to the source : Shape magazine...

(one bar): 223 calories, 7 g fat, (27% of calories), <1 g saturated fat, 38 g carbs, 5 g protein, 4 g fiber, 45 mg calcium, 2 mg iron, 65 mg sodium You can substitute walnuts for the almonds in this recipe-and you'll add heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Ingredients 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
2/3 cup brown-rice syrup
3 tablespoons canola oil
1 egg
½ cup dried fruit, any combination of raisins, dried cranberries, or chopped apricots or dates
½ cup slivered almonds

Directions
  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil and spritz foil with vegetable-oil spray. Set aside.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, sesame seeds, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

  • In another bowl, stir together rice syrup, oil, and egg. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir to combine. Mix in dried fruits and slivered almonds.

  • Spread batter into the prepared pan, evening it out as much as possible with a rubber spatula. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until lightly browned and firm to the touch in the center. Cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack before inverting onto a cutting board. Using a sharp serrated knife, cut into quarters, then cut each quarter into three bars. These keep for several days, stored in an airtight container.

ha- now you won't be able to get me off of here Embarassed

zuke length wise and we put grated Parmesan once it was served..

Yes, please share recipes!!! I run out of ideas.....

#691 olivia77 May 07 2008 16:24
YUMMY, thinthought!

We do Birthday CLub at my work/school.  We draw names and you brings treats the day of someone's bday..    I bring the healthiest things I can.

mich34 --  was it was for a bday so sweets are expected/status quo, or did you mean just to share because you are nice?   I have all kinds of good stuff for that!!!
#692 mich0304 May 08 2008 04:07

Thanks for the idea thinthought!  I like that it is quick to do too!

Olivia- just treats to bring in too be nice.  I actually I feel way behind because I haven't been bringing anything to share since I don't want to bring junk!

Stephie - I also have IBS, and have found small meals are great.  For me some other main things are no acidy fruit for breakfast, nothing fried, and going easy on dairy.  Caffeine doesn't seem to bother me too much.  I hope you find the best mix for you!  My BF says that I can't eat anything interesting or flavorful, but I feel like I have a wide range of 'safe' options!

#693 olivia77 May 08 2008 16:27
Coolio, mich -- that's nice of you!

Make your own hummus or salsa and bring in cut up veggies and maybe some healthy, crunchy something like soy crisps, mini rice cakes or the new Orville R's corn mini cakes.

YUM!

It is Teacher Appreciation Day, so the National Honor Society kids brought around fruit and mini muffins for al lthe teachers.  I just took fruit, but how nice!

Stuck at 166.5 (same as last week) all week this week, so I am hoping my hard 5 mile jog will knock at least .5 lbs loose for tomorrow.

WHERE IS EVERYONE?????
#695 immom May 09 2008 03:12

I feel like I've been stuck for a month!

took my daughter to the dr. today. While there I figured I'd ask his opinion on how to make the weight start coming off again. First thing he said was "want to try Meridia?". . . Disapointing. He was a good doc. Delivered 2 of my kids. Maybe thats why. Maybe he sees me still pregnant. I dunno.

Hello, I'm at a healthy BMI. I have 13ish lbs to my goal.

I said no. I figured you ladies would be far more helpful.

I run for 50 minutes 3X a week. Use my elliptical for 30-60 minute 2 or 3X. and walk for atleast 30 minutes( pretty slow but with my 4 year old on my shoulders) with the kids a day.

Calories are good. Deficit atleast 400, Usually more.

I didn't get dehydrated from my run today but it wasn't very warm either.

Sorry post is scattered just like my brain right nowTongue out

#696 olivia77 May 09 2008 03:55
lol, immom -- medicine does not fix everything...   why do doctors always go there first?

I am sure something is changing..... have you taken new measurments???   I find if the scale ain't moving, the tape measure is....    Stay positive!!!!

You are kicking ass and taking names in the cardio dept, girl  ( ;  I had a much better run today too -- glad for you.  it was not raining (thank GOD) and while it was windy, it was not Dorothy Gail windy so I hauled ass for me.  (meaning mostly I jogged almost the whole thing.  I am slow, but I figure if I keep running the whole thing, that's "better.")
#697 melness5 May 09 2008 05:09

I just want to admit

I AM AN ADDICT!  I love the inspiration and the personalities, and knowing I am not stuck in the battle alone.  I am so glad for each of you who are not ashamed to stand and say.   I am addicted!

I started out at around 149, and I am down to 139.  I think I am losing more inches than pounds which is totally fine by me, any progress is still progress.

#698 olivia77 May 09 2008 12:19
heck yeah, it counts, melness!  (you fulfilled the challenge!!!!!)

I was 165 this morning - 164 yesterday, but ok.   ( :
#699 mich0304 May 09 2008 13:04

Hey, thanks for the helathy ideas!

I am still at 148.  I did realllly good on Sun-Tues and then some major things came up at work and I totaly stress ate the last 2 days.  It was just disappointing because I thought I had moved beyond that, but I guess sometimes the right trigger comes along....

Anyways, good luck to the rest of you weighing in!

#700 krrpt08 May 09 2008 13:44

good morning!!

weighing in at 139 this morning. Up 1lb from last week but I don't mind. I think my body is trying to tell me something.. as in, I'm good at 140-ish :) my feelings wouldn't be hurt if I got to 135 one day :)

but, next week I'm increasing my weights and my calories (to 1600) so we'll see what happens :)
