| Trying to lose 10 lbs. forever club | ||
| May 30 2007 23:53 | ||
| I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". . I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years. Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10). I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next. I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes. Let me know if you are out there and interested. |

Thanks for your encouraging words, I am feeling MUCH better now and think I am finally on the way to recovery. Glad this is over and all my wisdom teeth are out and I don't need to worry about that anymore.
In other news I have met my new goal, perhaps not the way one would should do it...let's see how long this lasts... Today is turkey day...Happy Thanksgiving. Stay the course! But even if we fall today, we get right back on tomorrow! Right! Tando-Congrats on meeting goal! Way to go! I knew you could do it! You have put in a lot of hard work and you deserve it. Oh and btw I think your turkey will be awesome...it sounds great to me. Salt and alcohol...yum! I think the skin will be delicious...don't fret! Ohio-Cinnamon roll dough?! MMMM...I couldn't be around those without eating them...I would cave just on those... Well have a great day ladies...Talk to you all later! |

Tando- you are right about the motivation to stay on track. I think I did the best I ever have today. I kept dinner to about 800 calories and that includes dessert. I only ate one dessert also, highly unusual. I usually have to try some of each.
But the next month will be even harder than today. Too many days of goodies during Christmas time. Well it was a nice day and I spent time visiting with family and kept a warm cup of tea in my hands, that helped...I was not so tempted to eat munchies before dinner. Of course I wasn't really ready to eat chips, nuts, or crackers anyhow. I hope you all had a good day and enjoyed time with your family. That is the most important thing anyway...Happy Thanksgiving! I have an idea...we should all post what we are most thankful for. I will go first, I am most thankful for my beautiful daughters and for having my health. TTFN (tata for now) |

Tando-ok, well after I posted that around 7ish I ended up eating a smart ones Salsbury steak dinner 270 cals and 2 fun size candy bars...lol. So my total cals for the day were over 1600. Not so great after all, but I needed them anyhow. I also took a couple bites of the desserts my hubby was eating, pecan pie and pumpkin cake later in the evening...he really pigged out. None of us should feel bad at all. He ate like 10 helpings!!! Could you imagine? Any yes I think the weight gain is only from the salt, I know that is how I am, sodium always gets to me. Oh and see what doing a great job hosting gets you, more hosting...
Well it is over now, back to less temptation. Thank God! Well I am going to try to stay good today, I can't really exercise because I am home with the kids all this weekend while they are off school. I am going to try to do some activity with them, but it is cold out and I don't like cold at all...I think we will have a dance party in the house for an hour or something weird like that. But it works, right? Well I am gonna get going...I actually slept in and so did the girls, odd...but now they are both up...gotta run. Have a wonderful day! |

Scale was up 1# this morning...and I am already panicking; isn't that sad? I wish I wasn't and I know that I shouldn't, but I have enjoyed the weight loss no matter how it happened...I knew it wouldn't last though. My calorie intake daily has been increasing as well and yesterday I wound up eating about 1400 calories which is much more than in the days past. So my appetite has definately come back and now I am back to having to try to control it. We are going to a friend's house tonight for "game night". I still am not really eating "crunchy" things which is good, that might help some.
Well I woke up this morning with swollen glands in my throat. I knew I was getting sick both my kids had it and I knew it was only a matter of time before I was gonna get it. Today it finally caught up, the past couple of days I had a "tickle" in my throat and my sinuses started to drain a little. I am hoping this is short lived. When I go back to school next week I get a free flu shot since we have a nursing program there. That is pretty cool, unfortunately the flu shot doesn't cover nearly enough of the strains of the flu that are out there, in my opinion. Well my goal today is to take it easy and get over this crud, try to stay under 1300 calories, and not worry about exercise today. Tando- I went shopping yesterday too, but not until the afternoon. I am not a "Black Friday" shopper and never have been. Got some good deals even tho' I didn't go in the morning. Wings are a fave part of mine on turkey and chicken; it is amazing how loaded with calories such a little thing can be. Ohio- You are in my thoughts and I hope all is well with you. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are enjoying your time with the family. I miss your posts! Well, take care and have a wonderful day! Stay the course! |

Tando- I agree that it gets easier to live on less calories. I do find my self dependent on calorie tracking though or I start to get carried away. That is how I wound up putting some of the weight back on in the first place. You are so close to goal, you need to shake your body up a little somehow. By switching up calories or exercise, something like that. Of course for me it took even less calories. Which sucks...because that is never easy. But I really don't exercise as much as I was either. I was exercising 6 days a week and eating 1500 calories and getting nowhere with weight loss. I was stuck at a plateau forever...
I find that I don't need as much exercise either the smaller I get so that isn't a bad thing either. Less weight, Less food, less exercise. Makes sense right. I find myself doing more toning exercises lately than cardio. I really don't want to put my skinny clothes away again. I plan to keep them out a little while this time. I slept a lot last nite, went to bed early. I feel a little better this morning. I start classes tonight, so I wanted to be recovering by today. So we shall see. I have class from 5:30-9pm, yuk, but it is only on Mon nites. Not bad but not great either, especially come the middle of winter. I have been enjoying break though and will find it a little hard to get back into the swing of things. My tooth is still on the mend too. It isn't completely better yet, the packing the doctor put in fell out and I don't know whether I need to go back and see him or not. I need to give him a call. Well one more day off for the kids. Yea! I am sure they wouldn't agree! Then life will be back to normal around here. We miss you Ohio!!!!! Come back! Take care! Have a great day! |

Ohio-welcome back! I like beef jerky too. It's protein and it takes a while to eat. Its low in calories and fat. Kids are a lot of work! As far as scales go, I have a digital one that gives a BMI reading though I never use that part. It reads down to ounces. I like it.
I have been hanging pretty steady where I am at. Still getting over this cold I picked up. Started school up again last night. I have class this morning, philosophy. Tando- Right now, I am majoring in Liberal Arts. I am thinking of pursuing social work. I know, I know not much money. But I think I would like doing it. That's what counts right? TTFN! Have a great day! |

Welcome Elaine! It is good to see someone new! It sounds like you are experiencing the frustration we all do when we are trying to lose weight. Our body really doesn't want to let it go, I don't know why.
Shaking things up is great advice as well as decreasing your caloric intake, it seems a bit high. Thanks Tando for saying I am your hero, very sweet. I am trying hard and still succeeding thus far. The scale is where I want it and it can drop a little more if it wants to, I'd be ok with that... Ohio-Road trips are hard, I just try to pack fruits, veggies like carrots, wheat crackers, etc. Have you tried chewing gum? sometimes it helps forget about wanting to munch. Well I need to study....Talk to you later! |
