Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

i've got the same thing with water :) i'm getting better about drinking more--i shoot for 100 oz.  but i always use the bathroom two floors below me, so it means i'm walking up and down those things a lot!!!  :)  anyways, it's 5 which means i'm going home!
#642 djrizzo Mar 19 2007 20:22
I already pee every 5 minutes anyway, so what's the difference? lol!

Days off:  You need rest days--your body needs those to build muscle from your exercise, so always take at least one day completely off, maybe two if you weight train strenuously.  I have read to bump up your cals slightly on those days to shock your system (this is body builder info I have, so you guys may be more comfortable cutting back on a few cals).

One thing is don't feel guilty--rest is equally important to exercise, but it is rarely stressed. So kick back and enjoy your kids!  Do lighter stuff that they can do with you, and make it fun--you will all enjoy it more.

kiigan thats cool for you that you walk down(and back up) two flight of stairs everytime you gotta go lol..

dee- its not that i feel guilty taking a day off..  its just that it was soooooo hard to get myself into the habit of exercising initially, that i am scared if i take a day off i will totally blow it.. and not want to do it the next day...  if i take a day off i will tell you guys then the next day you can leave me loads of posts telling me to get off my butt and do my exercise lol... and i guess i am scared of what not exercising will do to my body.. i am already trying to figure out how this will all work when i reach goal and start maintaining (and trying to tone at the same time??lol)
#644 vcooper Mar 19 2007 21:36
so kiigan you get  your water and work out, cool : - )

I hear about the peeing all the time anyway, not much diffrence LOL

I am with unicat - afraid if I miss a day, that I will not get back to exercising regularly.  It took me awhile to get into the everyday thing.  The only thing that I think saves me from burn out is that I play soccer twice a week, and I don't do my regular workout then.

I just joined the community and I'm so happy that I found what seems to be a really great support group.  I'm currently at 145 lbs and my goal weight is 125 lbs.

I just set up my profile and I'm confused as to what activity level I should put.  I've started doing an hour of cardio (running/walking and swimming) at least 4 times per week but my intention is to log all of that seperately.  Should I put sedentary or moderate activity level then? I'm currently working in France and aside from the cardio I do, my days are not very strenuous.  Of course, I do have to walk pretty much everywhere I go!  Thanks to the French transportation workers always going on strike! LOL!

Any advice is appreciated!  So happy to be here!
#646 djrizzo Mar 19 2007 23:01
I completely understand about that line of thought--because I am usually sitting on my butt all winter, and when xmas is over, then I'm like "gee I put on weight over the holidays" and start up with my exercise all over again, instead of staying consistent.  It may be different for me this year though, because I have a magnetic trainer for my bike and a weight bench in the basement--no excuses, ya know?  But rest is important--maybe save one day a week for a light stretching type of workout--yoga or pilates--just to give your bod a break.  It feels good too!
#647 djrizzo Mar 19 2007 23:03
Hey welcome courtswim4life!  I recently changed mine to sedentary to log my exercise separate too--I think it keeps me more honest as far as my calorie expenditure.
#648 teenwolf Mar 19 2007 23:07
hi courts, welcome!  i work a desk job and don't really get a lot of activity going throughout the day except for my workouts.  i use sedentary and then add in my workouts.  i think it's cleaner to do it this way.  i log in other types of activity as well (i.e. if i go for a walk with coworkers at lunch time, i log that as well).
#649 unicat Mar 20 2007 00:13
Hi courts :) welcome :)  i agree with everyone else, set it at sedentary then add everything seperately.. :)  thats what i do :)

for those who know about hubby and i getting tickets to the submariners ball, my dress arrived today..  i posted in my journal about it (with pics included), and am adding the pics to my pictures :) i am sooooooooo excited :)

Hi. I'm new, too. This is really fun. I'm at 140 today and hope to be BACK down to 135. My metabolism is freaking out since I'm a woman of "a certain age" if you know what I mean. The hot flash stage is over but things are completely out of whack.

I try to keep a good 4X week work out schedule with 45 minutes of cardio and weight training. Sunday was supposed to be a strong workout day but I was really dragging. I went for a walk in Golden Gate Park and actually got a little faint after 1/2 hour. Jeez louis - what a wimp!

I'm been a size 20 twice in my life and never ever want to go back there. That's why when it starts creeping up 1/2 pound at a time I get worried.
#651 curious5588 Mar 20 2007 01:53
I am looking to be 135!
#652 djrizzo Mar 20 2007 09:44
Welcome newcomers!  Glad to have you aboard!

Brigitte--you look amazing!  That dress is perfect!  You should all go to her gallery and see it--just beautiful!!!

Congratulations on getting to this point--you have one heck of a smile on your face, so I know you are proud of yourself!

yayayayayayay!

hello all!

Welcome new people! Courtswim, it looks like we may be around the same goals! I was 150 at the beginning of 06 and since then I've gotten down to 140 (It took a year b/c I wasn't as focused as I should have been!) Now I'm on my last 10 to get down to 130. I hope to be at 130 by my b/f's birthday camping trip, May 25. My actual goal date is May 10, but I added the extra few days for any plateuing that may come about...

unicat- I am the same way. I took Sunday off and yesterday I had a really hard time finding the motivation to get off my butt again... I finally did and feel a lot better but it was tough. And, I've been working out every day for about 3 months now... ugh. I would suggest maybe doing a few 10 minute workouts throughout the day. I'm not sure what your schedule allows, but that may be better than skipping a day or so. Just go with what your body is telling you!
#654 srd1214 Mar 20 2007 10:08
Brigitte, you look awesome!! Very gorgeous!
#655 srd1214 Mar 20 2007 10:13
how do I add my weight chart to my profile?
#656 courtswim4life Mar 20 2007 10:26
Thanks for the warm welcome and advice about my activity level to everyone who responded!  The part of France that I live in has just gotten a freak snow storm after weeks of sunny, 50 degree weather.  I'm not going to let it derail my workouts though!  I've decided to go to the indoor pool today and then climb the stairs in my apartment complex!  Now I just have to avoid the bakeries..
#657 sydney72 Mar 20 2007 12:02
Hi, everyone!

I'm looking to drop from 146 to 135.  It has been difficult for me.  I was up to 164 and managed to get down to 146, but I seem to be stuck here.  :(

But, there was a health screening at work yesterday and I found that my cholesterol is "dangerously high".  I'm having to drastically alter my diet, which is scary, but I'm thinking it may also help with the stubborn pounds I'm carrying around.  :)
#658 vcooper Mar 20 2007 12:20
Brigitte - the dress is awesome, you look great and what a huge smile!!!!!

I also sit all day long, so I made my sedentary and just add whatever I do for the day.

no work out last night, feeling very under the weather and no energy at all.... hopefulyy tonight will be better
#659 kiigan Mar 20 2007 13:19
welcome courtswim, grouchy, and sydney!

that's so cool you're in france, courtswim! i was in tokyo for about a year and dropped a lot of weight from all the walking! it's really great for you!

sydney--i'm glad you found out about your cholesterol. my family just found out about some recurrent genetic problems with that--so it's really good you caught it before anything bad happened!

hope that you're feeling better today, v.

srd--do you want to add your weight chart or your weight ticker? if it's your ticker, there's a link under the "Ticker" function that says something like, "Add to profile".  If you want to add your weight chart, you can right click on teh chart, and go to "Copy Image Source".  Then just paste that into your profile as a regular photo.  i don't know if it'll update it for you though--you might have to change the source code every time you want to update it.

i made it to the gym this morning, so i don't anticipate any problem getting back into the habit of exercise in the AM. but my weight didn't go down at all :( so still at 144, which is sad :(  i'm leaving for San Fran on thursday morning, so i need to make sure i at least take a long walk every day i'm out there.
#660 vcooper Mar 20 2007 14:53
kiigan - thanks, I am feel alittle better today.  Good enough to workout I believe - maybe not full but something.

hope everyone is having a good day.  Swamped here at work can only get on here once and awhile, wrapping up before I leave Friday (YEAH!!!).  Unfortunately everyone wants this and that done before I leave (tax season - work for a CPA).
