Trying to lose 10 lbs. forever club

I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". .  I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years.  Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10). 

I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons.  I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably.  I may want to go on to a size 6 next.


I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated.  Maybe we can share ideas and recipes. 

Let me know if you are out there and interested.

Hello everyone! I am still here, just been soooo busy. Things are letting up a little since all my papers are complete, now comes finals. On Nov 26th 3 new classes begin and I will do it all over again...but I am taking 4 right now. The school I go to runs on trimesters not semesters. So each course is only 10 wks long. It can be intense though since it is all coming at you so quickly.

My weight is great! I think the new meds my doc put me on for unrelated things, has decreased my appetite. I do think it may be coming back some though. I have found myself having to use some more will power around the bad stuff.

But I weighed in this morning at 121! Whoa I can't even believe it. My clothes are loose and people are starting to notice. So even if it was the meds at first, I am going to try to stick to this amount of food. I have been under 1300 mostly every day and not even exercising that much. Though I miss exercising, it makes me feel really good. I guess it is the endorphins. I can only do so many things each day and there will plenty of time to exercise when my kids are a little older and busy doing their own things.

We are carving pumpkins this weekend for Halloween. I have a mother/daughter dance to go to for my daughter that is in brownies. We both got Pirate outfits to wear, it is a Disney theme so I decided I liked the idea of Pirates of the Caribean more than wearing a princess dress. So it should be a lot of fun. I ususally never dress up so she is super excited that I am getting in on the action. It is out of character for me, but will be fun I am sure.

Well that's it for now, it is back to school work for me. Both kids and hubby are at work and I have no classes today. I am trying to study, but I get bored especially at home. I find myself getting distracted by chores or the computer. I need to focus!

Back up to 122 today! Knew it was too good to be true...
I have been sitting at the computer a lot today working on a project and am finding my appetite to be coming back. I have been hungry and looking for things to munch all day. I am already at 1000 calories and haven't eaten dinner yet. This is not going to be a good day, I can see that already. I am trying hard not to sabotage my success. I am sooooo good at doing that.

 I feel like a slug because I haven't exercised, and I am starting to get achy. I will do it this week for sure!

I have one kid with the flu today. Poor thing. The other is just fine and wants some attention. So I am gonna go now.

Ohio- good for you! South Beach isn't easy. I tried that one too. I am just not happy on any diet, I guess? I want a brownie and pizza diet . I would kick a$$ on that one!

Speaking of pizza. Hubby brought one home after work for dinner and I ate 3 pieces. My day was already bad, so I guess I figured what the hell. It was cheese only and they were the smaller slices, but still. Calorie counter says it was 560 calories. Ugh! After that I ate 2 servings of animal crackers. 260 calories. My total for the day was about 1900+. Not good.

I guess I needed a day to just eat. Unfortunately my appetited did not stay away on the meds. I hoped it would, but I knew better.

Well I need to get to exercising again and plan to do it tomorrow morning. Kids are home and hubby is sleeping, I can't really fit it in right now.

For breakfast I ate a banana & lite wheat toast. I am drinking a cup of tea right now.

I do try to subside my appetite with things like coffee or tea. But I am noticing that when I drink coffee I crave more carbs. Like sweet things (cookies, pastries, etc.) I think it is a mind thing, but still I find I eat more after I drink it, even though it fills my belly up for a little bit. Tea doesn't seem to have that affect, but it really doesn't fill my belly up like coffee. Weird.\

Well that's about all for now. I am still at 122.4 so that is a bonus and I am hoping it is enough motivation for me to stay on track!

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels! Right?

I did exercise this morning. And when I got up I weighed in at 121.8; Yea! I stay under 1300 cals yesterday. So that was good.

Ohio-did you ever think that maybe you are burning up too many calories and not giving your body the fuel it needs. So therefore it is hanging on to every calorie you eat. I have done that. I notice if I am eating very little, my weight seems to stick or even start to go up. I need to mix up my calorie amounts too. Eat more one day and then eat less the next. If I stay steady my body adjusts and will not cooperate. Just a thought.

Tando- I know what you mean about comfort foods in the colder times of year. I like to drink alot of warm beverages. Coffee, tea, or diet cocoa. I also eat lean cuisines like Salsbury steak or mac n  chees or lasagna. I like to make hot ham and cheese sandwiches.

I take 2 slices of lite bread wheat usually. put a slice of fat free american cheese and a few thin slices of lean ham or turkey and put butter flavored cooking spray in the pan and on other side of sandwich than I grill it in a pan. Till bread is nice and golden Yummy! I also eat a lot of broth based soups. They usually fill me up pretty good. Just an idea.

I was 120.6 this morning and wow! I was shocked. I haven't been this low in a long time. This site does make me accountable for my actions. I love it. I haven't really been exercising so I am probably dropping muscle as well, not good.

I am going to force myself to exercise today before classes.

Oh and the treats I bought for the kids was the Reese's 100 cal snackster bag and animal crackers and pretzels in fun size bags. I knew I would never stay out of chocolate so I did not buy any. Of course the girls will have bunches by tonight.

Ohio- that's a good idea about a pic of us dressed up. I will have to give that a shot. 23 miles! Man, I would die. I do my circuit training and cardio, that is enough for me.

Tando- One other thing I find good this time of year is butternut or acorn squash. I like to bake it and then I put fake butter, cinnamon, and some sugar substitute in and you can eat enough to fill your belly and it very low in calories, great for you too. Plus it is warm which is why I prefer it to cold veggies this time of year. I like lots of salads in the summer, but find I am not as fond of them in the winter.

Well....I reached my goal 119 today! Woo-hoo! I have been keeping cals down and try to get some exercise in each week. Not as much as in the summer, but I guess it is ok.

My appetite has been down so that is helping. I can't even believe I made goal. I struggled with that extra 10 lbs. forever. My goal date was Oct. 21st so I was really close, too. I don't think I could have done that without the help of this site and you guys!

Now I am gonna see if maybe, just maybe a few more will come off. If not I am happy here. I am a size 6 to an 8, so No I am not super skinny. Some of this might just be water weight. I am just praying I can stay where I am and not go back up. A couple good binges could put all that weight back on. Not to mention the fact that the holidays are just around the bend which means all kinds of cookies, brownies, fudge, and pies.  Lord, give me strength!!!

well that's it for now...finals are coming in just 1 1/2 weeks, so I am gonna be studying...
