Pam it sounds good though, I love cottege cheese! yummo! lol :)
We went out the night before to Red lobster and I did really good I made healthy choices like veggies instead of a baked potato and used no butter to dip my crab into and it was still good. I did not finish it all either! so I had no guilt! I also got up off the couch and worked out for 30 min and went for a walk with my Mom when she came over. So I am feeling very good this week so far with everything.
Thanks to God for giving me the will power to keep going! ;)
I hope everyone is having a great week so far, keep going strong everyone and we will ALL make our goals!

the snack basket at work is the bane of my existence!
In addition to free fountain pop, and free capucinno (like from the gas station machine) we have a 50cent snack basket. It is filled with chips, cookies, candy bars, you name it, it's there. And all for only 50 cents each! And to make matters worse i swear it calls my name when i'm taking my break in the kitchen/break room taunting me into getting something. I have stopped carying change in my pockets....it helped some....but it's still so hard!
Oh yeah, we also have a good humor cart and every other week or so it's ice cream day and we get a free bar....i swear this office is sabotaging me!
We have a running joke around here that we have to have weight watchers work meetings simply not to gain weight in this environment!

Greetings one and all...I hope you won't mind some more company...I am 5'10" and weigh 320. The chart thingy I should weigh 160, but that is dreaming...I would be happy in the 180 range...I am very encouraged by what I have read here so far...

I'm doing pretty well lately! I'm out of my plateau and exercising has
definitely kicked up my metabolism. Today, my scale read 251 - just 1
lb away from my first goal. I've been stuck in the 250s for too long
now!
I'm going out bike riding in a bit, I hope, but I'm nervous because it's really hot out. I wanted to go early in the morning, but I was too tired. Should I give it a try and bring lots of water, or stay inside and do an exercise video or something?

Patrasha how do you do it?! that would drive me INSANE having all those temptations around! I'd be 500 pounds! I'm a stay at home Mom so what I have at home is only what I bring into the house. I do the shopping not my hubs so theres not much to eat that is really bad, all that we have that is bad is the kids snacks and there put away in a cupboard so there not sitting out starring at me lol That takes alot of will power! more power to you!! and keep up the great work!
Welcome Tim glad your here and we will help you on your path to meeting your goal .

guys do you use splenda how good is it,any side effects that you know of.
Anecdotally the side effects of Splenda,
include skin rashes/flushing, agitation, dizziness and
numbness, diarrhea, muscle aches, headaches, intestinal cramping,
bladder issues, and stomach pain.
I don't think Splenda has been around long enough for any long term studies. I do know that for myself I will occasionally get a headache when drinking soda sweetened with Splenda. Whether that is due to the Splenda or something else I couldn't be sure.

I use Splenda every day in my coffee and tea, and I think it's great.
It tastes great (I hate other artificial sweeteners) and never had any
problem with it.
Thanks, well today I called my pharmacist and came to know its safe.
Thanks All

HI all hope everyone is doing great. I could use a little advice though, I want to find some kind of exercise to do, which is a real challenge for me as I have alot of medical problems, I have all kinds of back problems as well as problems with my knees, I know walking is supposed to be the best exercise but I can't walk for more than 10 min on a good day before I am in pain, so I was hopeing someone out there could suggest a cheap video or somthing that I might be able to do, I know its a long shot but if anyone knows of any without alot of crawling around on the floor or doing crunches/situps, I would realy appreciate any advice, and I can't afford to join a gym either. thanks.
RTD, i know there is an excercise video out there (don't remember instructor though) named something like walking fit. It has 3 or 4 different routines depending on your level and it's all walking in place. I think in some of the routines it adds small hand weights and you do some upper body training while walking in place. This might be a good way to start. And even if you can't complete the first level routine, do what you can and work your way towards completing it. It's better to get some excercise than none at all right!
Hope this helps, sorry i can't remember the name of it!

There is a video called Sit Tight with Richard Simmons, for people who cannot stand or not stand for long periods of time.
Moving forward!
After my dissapointing weigh in yesterday (even though i kind of knew it was coming) i have decided to move forward and forget the past. This morning i started with 2 scrambled eggs and a FF yogurt. I am having grilled chicken breast, green beans, and whole grain rice for lunch, and for dinner probably something on the grill. I went out last night and also bought some skinny cow ice cream sandwiches. I have been depriving myself of any sweets....which is why i think i went off the deep end last week. So i figure i can treat myself to one skinny cow at night to treat my sweet tooth and keep myself under control!
Any other tricks/tips for not going off the deep end? it seems like i can do well for 4-5 weeks at a time, and then some time bomb goes off and i feel like i have to eat everything in sight!

I had a couple disappointing weigh-ins last week and at the beginning of this week. With the 4th and a family reunion this past weekend, I went off the deep end too. =) I'm just not going to kill myself over it. I know that this weightloss is going to take a long time, so I figure if I fall off the wagon for a few days a month my goal will probably just take a little longer to get to. But if I'm happy in the mean time because occasionally I get to eat chips (I LOVE chips) then that little extra time it takes is worth it.
I think that if you accept the fact that you cheated and you resolve to either exercise extra the next day or make sure that you're good for at least 3 or 4 straight days, then at least your making a new goal to stick to the diet. Guilt will only stress you out and then you'll lose even less weight. =)
