Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds

Quote  |  Reply
Hi, my name is Suzanne and I am 23 years old. I weigh 258.3 pounds(yikes) and would really like to get down to between 140 and 150. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in their 20's who has about that much they want to lose. We could work together and stay motivated to reach our goals!!! Also, if there is anyone in their 20's who has lost that much and wants to share their success story, I would love to hear it! Thanks!

good luck, mladdy!!!!
Hey ladies!

I'm super busy at work today, so I won't have a chance to catch up with everyone until later, but I just wanted to say hi!  And keep on truckin'!  We'll get there!  Yay!

Talk to ya'll a bit later!

P.S. I'm totally sending good vibes your way mladdy!  Good luck!
Hi everyone,  it has been about two weeks since I have posted and I am so not caught up I have like 10 pages to read.  I have been really busy and haven't had a lot of time to get on here.  I hope everyone is doing good and I will try to get caught up in the next couple of days.  I just wanted to say Hi!Smile

Good luck mladdy! *teleporting some good vibes your way*

I have an interview for a new job on Monday so I could use some good vibes too!

watchme - that's quite the situation. As long as you are losing the weight for you, and not for him.. that's what matters. :)
I have to admit, I've often been surprised when it comes to guys being attracted to me. There are guys you could never imagine being attracted to you, and wham, they admit it. Who knew?!
I think in order for anything to work, he needs to accept you the way you are now, not for how you will be. I would never date a guy who will like me at a size 10, but not at size 24.
I like to think of it as, if a guy gets involved with me, at least he knows what he's getting... I won't get any bigger than this, there's only one way to go, down! But, if he marries some tiny little thing, odds are, she's gonna put on weight... lol... I think I'm the better choice ;)
I've actually been seeing a guy for almost 4 years now, who, quite frankly will NOT commit. Why I keep seeing him, I don't know.... but if I lose all this weight, and THEN he seems to think I'm good enough to actually BE with... well, I'll be saying, thank you and goodday (in not such nice words...) :)

mladdy - Congrats on your fabulous workout!  And good luck on the interview (if hasn't already happened)!  I did my first Couch to 5K workout today, and I did all of it without having to stop.  I then did 15 minutes on the elliptical machine to work my arms and other leg muscles.  I had to cut short today because I have an outline due tomorrow that needs some major work.

Hope all is well with everyone else!

boo Chinese food and gelato...
well... really yay gelato. heheh. yum.

Hi, i'm a new member to CC. I think this site is great, I think you guys are awesome. I just found my new family in here. I hope I get to inspire people just like how I am inspired by everyone in here.

I'm Carla, 25 and although I'd only want to shed the 30 pounds i keep gaining, it feels like 100 since i can never maintain it.

ali and dalma, thanks for the support. dalma, the guys' family is into what i look like on paper. education, family background, sect, etc. it's hard to find people who match up in all of those things PLUS who their son likes to talk to. he told them he likes the fact that for once they introduced him to someone who is smart, a bit of a smart ass even, and opinionated but also conservative, can relate to family background/religion, etc. in this guys mind, it comes down to face-to-face chemistry now. everything else lines up. he wants to make sure i'm not socially awkward or go mute in person and also, obviously, looks. and yes, if and when we meet, we could get married as quickly as 6 months from that time... but, i would kind of want to wait to lose more weight and i think i'll eventually have to get a tummy tuck cuz i already have some hanging skin.

the timing, the deadline, whatever... that's all self-inflicted i guess. i tend to aways give myself tighter deadlines than longer ones knowing that although i won't reach the goal i've set, i'll come much closer than if i gave myself a longer amount of time! i'm like that with everything!

Thanks for all the positive vibes, dalmalama, allydan, sonini, and luckyangelou!  I went in with added confidence thanks to you gals.  Wink  I'm happy to report that I got myself a 2nd interview for this Friday!

luckyangelou - Awesome job on completing the first day!  I didn't want to say too much about my experience until I heard that you had done well with it, but I also had absolutely no problems completing it.  I actually thought I might do it tomorrow too, even though is says 3 days, every other day.  What do you think?  Is it going to be too much?  Good luck on your outline too.

feddiechick - You and I both looooove food.  Laughing  I've got to try some of the meals that you've posted!

sonini - *^~`*^~`  There's some good vibes for your interview!!!  Knock em dead!

jpetty5 - Happy to see you here!  Give us an update on how you're doing!  Any accomplishments we can pat you on the back for, or do you need some encouragement?

watchmeshine82 - I made my virtual models on http://www.mvm.com.  You can choose lots of different style clothing to dress up in and make a goal weight model too!

lawgirl25 - You should be stoked that you made the effort to go through with the first day of couch to 5k!  That's great, and you know that you're only going to increase and get better from here!  You can do it!!!

Everybody - What do you all do to stop overeating?  I've realized I had no clue to what a proper portion size was before coming here.  Now the only thing that seems to work is getting out the tupperware as soon as I'm finished fixing lunch/dinner and packing up the food into portions immediately (None left to have a little more of when my plate is empty.).

mladdy:

The easiest thing I've found is to just cook food ahead of time and put it into tupperware containers. That way, all you have to is grab it from the fridge and take it to work or whatever. It can be annoying, for sure, but it's easy. And until a proper portion size becomes automatic, it's a good thing to do. :)

Good morning ladies! I'm inspired by all the Couch to 5k-ers that I think I may start it this weekend! Can anyone give ideas as to speeds they used on the treadmill? It says to do 5 minute brisk walk (I was thinking around 3.1-3.4?) and then alternating jogging and walking. Any suggestions from those that have done it?

I've been pretty much at the same weight for a couple of weeks, but mainly because I haven't been focusing on losing. I'm still watching what I eat and all - which is why I haven't gained, but man I would really love to see that scale down over the weekend! Good news though - I started in a size 24 (or a size 6 "right fit") and I just bought my first pair of 4's (I think a 20?) this week! I'm wearing them now! And it's almost strange to be wearing pants that fit since I've been swimming in mine for weeks now!  So yay! I have to celebrate the small successes! Hope everyone has a great day!

hi carla! you're definitely welcome!

congrats to everyone on this week's successes, weight-loss-related and otherwise.

food is yum. it is so good. i think most of us feel that way!Laughing but in terms of portion size, i have to know before i eat something how much is a portion, then i measure it out. i only have measuring spoons, so if the serving is like a 1/2 cup, i'll eyeball it using a coffee mug. i know my coffee mugs hold 12 oz, so when the cup looks 1/3 filled, i know that's one serving (i've gotten REALLY good w/ fractions!). if it's in ounces, i'll try to eyeball it, and i'm usually pretty close.

the tupperware thing sounds good, though. i also prevent overeating by sticking as closely as possible to eating every 3-4 hours. that way i'm never really hungry, so i've pretty much put the kaibash on mindless eating.

I do the tupperware/pre-wrapped food stuff the night before too.  It's become routine now.  Grab my turkey sandwich, can of lentils, tupperware of pakistani veggies and a sliced up orange, sugar free pudding, 100 calorie snack pack... that's my day right there.  it's kind of hard to eat anything beyond the above since it's so much to last me from 9 AM to 7 PM (when i'm at work each day)... weight watchers deems that list to be 15 points (750 calories) and i'm allowed 33 a day!!  sometimes i take my breakfast to go too (2 kashi waffles and a LITTLE bit of syrup and blueberries --> 250 cals).  like dalma, i spread out all the food that i take to work for my "day" to every 3 hours or so... i usually do a mid-morning snack, lunch at about 12:30-1, and then another snack at 4.

Hi everyone!Okay, so I finally will have a chance to catch up a bit...

dalma - I'm sorry the guy is a man-whore!  I've had many run-ins with those and they totally suck.  It's best that you found out now instead of later, though.  As far as the social calendar goes, I'm totally in that boat too.  The more there is to do, the more I let the weight loss stuff fall by the wayside.  The only thing keeping me going is the desire to wear a swimsuit without a skirt/shorts/old lady flowers on it this summer.

watchmesine82 - Honestly, I agree with sonini... If he's a good guy and there's chemistry there, he'll like you regardless of whether you're a 10 or a 20, and if he doesn't, he's not worth your time! You've already said that he thinks that his sisters are a great size, and isn't necessarily into tiny girls.  Don't let a potentially great thing pass you by because you've already psyched yourself out of it!  You're pretty!  He likes you!  Now you just have to like yourself enough to give him a chance!  Go for it, chica! :-)

pinkcobra - Your husband sounds adorable!  Having been the big girl at the dance, I can tell you that's like the nicest feeling in the world!  Yay for non-man-whore good guys!

Welcome, theluckiest and congratulations on your loss already! I totally get what you mean about being able to buy regular size clothes... It's my dream to be able to shop at more than two stores in the mall! (Torrid and Lane Bryant).  And why is it that the plus size section in department stores have nothing but various colors and patterns of mumus? They have mumus that look like suits and mumu skirt/top sets, but no matter what, everything is a shapless, bag-like version of a mumu.  It's depressing.

mladdy -  Your positivity totally got me psyched for the gym last night, so thank you! Yay for sexy endorphins! And congrats on the 2nd interview! Rock on, chica! :-) (on a side note, don't push yourself with the running too fast.  Last time I did that and my shins and knees weren't used to it, so they hurt bad for a few weeks and I had to give it up.  It's a lot of impact on those joints, especially for us big girls, so be careful!)

Welcome luckyangelou!  You guys totally inspired me, and I started the couch t0 5K last night too!  I'd started it at least twice before, but never made it past the first week, so here's to hoping that I can't get at least to week two this time!

Hi jpetty!  Good to see you back!

sonini - What do you mean, he won't commit?  After four years?!  I say kick his a$$ to the curb, now!  You totally deserve better than that NOW, not when you're smaller!

Welcome Carla! :-)

Whew!  You guys have been busy!

In any case, I've been totally re-inspired!  I read through the posts yesterday right before I left work, and I hit the gym extra psyched last night.  I made it through the couch-to-5K day one (on speed 3.8 for walking and 4.8 for jogging/running.  Also, they say if you put it at a 1% incline, it's more like running outside since you have to actually push yourself forward.  It makes it harder, but I figured since I want to run outside eventually (there are HOT guys in my neighborhood! lol!) I better start out strong!)  I also did 20 minutes easy on the elliptical, resistance training with my arms, and I tried HIIT for the first time.  Probably I shouldn't have done it on the same day as everything else except the resistance training, but I've been wanting to try it for a while; I just didn't have the nerve before.  It's hard.  Like really hard.  I only made it through two intervals.  I feel GREAT today, though, so maybe it's working!

Anyway, today is my rest/clean/visit with THE GUY night, so no gym, but kickboxing class is tomorrow and that should be fun!  Also, I totally ditched all the bad food from my fridge (I discovered that packing up 1/2 of a restaurant meal to go only means that I'll eat it later when I shouldn't be!).  I went to the grocery store and got all kinds of good-for-me food (including stuff for wraps!  Ya'll got me in a wrap mood!) and I already feel like 100 times better than I did last week.   Yay!  I'm back on track! :-)

hi im 21 years old and i weigh 326Lbs THAT IS WAY TO MUCH!!! my biggest fear is getting diabetis and becoming insilun dependent.even bigger is when i have children not being able to get down and play with them.Or to want to go out and push them on the swing because im just to tired.I need help I wish there was a way for me to get that extra motivation.i just dont know who to go to.my boyfriend is only 130 lbs he thinks i should be able to get up n just run well i can't its not that easy.he just dosent understand what its like..please i need help!!!I do not ever want that scale to reach 400 lbs.i think i'll just cry.

It would be so cool to have a biggest losers challenge right here in my own neighborhood but what are the chances of that. UndecidedI wonder.

down in the dumps with my chubalubbyness.

thanks mlady!  unfortunately, the site is blocked at work (it's in the category "game" apparently!) so i'll have to try it when i get home tonight.  how is everyone doing today?  no dance for me tonight so i'll try to swim and do weights instead.... also might try THE FIRM work out.... have the weights and dvds and haven't gotten around to doing them yet.  has anyone tried this?

hi future!

you are definitely in the right place! when i started trying to lose weight, i weighed 320 pounds. i still can't believe that. i couldn't walk a block, let alone exercise for 20 minutes or more. and i had terrible back problems. so far, i've lost 52 pounds, and as of this morning, i'm 268, and i can't remember the last time i had back pain. so just know, if you really want this for yourself, and you try as hard as you can, the weight will come off.

i'm sure any questions you have can be answered by the awesome girls on this thread. so ask away!

Hello ladies, I have tried getting back on track once again. I joined CC back in 07 and lost some weight but then I got off. I am 5' 6 " and at 225 lbs. and a mother of 3 all under 5. I am really depressed about my weight...I REALLY NEED HELP.....I really hope to chat with yall so that way I can get on my way to being happier.....

 PLEASE HELP ME!

April

Wow, there is so much going on in this thread--I'm sorry I don't have the time to read it all! Thank you all so much for the warm welcome--I've already lost a few pounds (although that's probably not so significant at the start of a diet, I know). I really appreciate the warm atmosphere, especially since I've been having some personal issues lately (problems with bf, facing the possibility of rejection from my top-choice med school...sigh).  I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing about your successes!

Btw, I just had lunch and it was so fantastically delicious that I feel I must share:

Two red bell peppers (the long ones), hollowed out

4 Tbsp. nonfat whipped cream cheese (I suppose I could have gone for less, but I was hungry!)

Garlic powder and sriracha (Thai hot sauce) to taste.

Mix up the garlic, hot sauce, and cream cheese. Spread it in the pepper cavity. Microwave 45 s. Enjoy!

Hey girls....still alive here. Just crazy busy.

My classes just started, my mom had a flood yesterday, my brother has strep, pnemonia and the flu, and I am just trying to be there for everybody without falling behind during the first week of class. Phew!  I will catch up with everyone later!
