Well, Chick Fil-A is my "healthy" alternative to on-campus Quiznos, Pizza Hut, or Burger King.  I get a salad at Chick Fil-A a few times a week, and sometimes I just go "out" off campus and have Indian, Thai, Chinese, or Korean, all nearby and for decent prices.

Selene - Ooo sorry... did the dentist prescribe any pain medication?

k9stylist, what part of WI are you from? My dad is from WI and my folks moved back there about 10 years ago. They live near Spooner and Shell Lake (small towns), about 20 miles north of Rice Lake- kind of Northeast part of the state. You need to tell us how the heck you have been dropping your lbs so fast, girl! You are doing so awesome! Share your secrets please..how many cals a day are you having, and what are you doing for exercise?

Leopardrayne, sounds frustrating those 3 lbs back and forth.. I feel like that too! I getting too impatient.. I really want to start seeing serious results from eating healthier and excercising

well got on the scale this morning and it said 185.6 so i'm doing something right...not to mention that we have high 90/100 degree weather out here Frown so i guess it helping me to sweat this weight off. but more to come...i can't wait to hit 180!

OMG.. i dont believe this!! So this morning I weighed 176.5.. I had some breakfast (which was a bowl of special k fruit and yogurt cereal, a cup of milk with slimfast powder, a large glass of water), drank a couple cups of tea, and continued to sip on water (which I usually do now).. I got the kids ready for school (last day tomorrow!) and then checked email, did my CC, cleaned up the house a bit, laundry, balanced the checkbook, then I took a shower (a little late, I know!) I did take a rather hot shower, also I peed several times already from all the drinking, and had a small bm, but when I stepped on the scale after my shower and drying my hair it said 173!! I stepped on and off it like 10 times to make sure.. what the heck?? I did take a shower yesterday, so its not like I was very dirty.. and when I weighed earlier this morning I was only wearing underwear and a t-shirt.. How in the heck did I drop 3.5 lbs in the shower??!! Not that I'm complaining.. just too bizarre! I'll have to check a few more times today.. This ever happen to any of you?

There's a shower-effect.  Something about the steam.  Wait a few hours after the shower, and it'll be your ACTUAL weight.  It's weird, I know.

Wendy - I've heard of Spooner, but I don't know if I've ever been there.  I'm from a very small town called Little Suamico, about 20 miles north of Green Bay.  Needless to say, I am a big Packer fan.  I don't really have any secrets to how I've been losing the weight... I guess you could say I've been lucky so far.  I originally started out eating about 1400 calories/day, but have now been dropping down to around 1200 most of the time with some nearing 1400 occasionally.  Lately, I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been exercising... I've been busy at work running around all day and I consider that my exercise.  I need to get back on the treadmill though.  When I did exercise I would walk very fast for about 2-3 miles usually.  I always drink a TON of water or tea everyday and take a large water bottle just about everywhere with me.  I think my weight loss is starting to slow down now that I'm getting closer to my goal weight.  It's getting tougher to lose it.

3 days ago I weighed 183, and this morning I weigh 181!!  :D  My "official" WI is on Mondays. I can't wait to see what I weigh then!  I can hardly wait to be 179!!!

I've been real busy lately since summer is arriving. Getting my flowers together in the garden and mulching.... Have a good evening! ;D 

 

Hi all! Well, i missed lunch today out running errands and got back home about 4:30 or so.. still weighed 173! My sons school is having a fundraiser with Dominos Pizza, so I ordered that for tonight.. I did eat a big pile of spinach drizzled with fatfree italian dressing with it, but I am ashamed to say I ate *3* pieces of pizza!Embarassed ooo, i was really planning on only eating one!  Anyway, so just a little while ago I went to use the bathroom and I stepped on the scale and now it says 174.5.. I guess thats not too bad after just eating 3 pieces of pizza, spinach, a big glass of water, and another cup of milk w/ slimfast.

Brownsug, good for you! Where are you at right now? 90/100 degrees? blah! I am in Minnesota, and its barely made it to 70 just about every day this week!

k9stylist, you come from the other side of Wisconsin! My family is pretty big into the Packers too.. How did you do with Favre retiring? Your metabolism must be attributed to the fact you are still under 30Wink.. You have been so lucky losing so quick so far! I wish I could too! Great job though! Sounds like you have a pretty physical job too, that must help.

momof2funykds, yay 2 more lbs! thats great!  What kind of flowers are you planting? I would love to have a garden, but my hubby doesnt want to.. I dont have the greenest thumb and he thinks we'd end up with a plot of weeds! We have enough trouble keeping our lawn up.. The neighbors across the street have 'dandelion fields' and it always blows into our yardTongue out 

I have annuals that come up every year. There are so many out there! I have a garden about 15' wide and about 30' long!  I put a bench out there with a table and I just sit in it and drink my water! lol  I have ones that bloom at different times so there's always flowers blooming.

I can't think of all the names!  Now if you were to ask my dad, he could tell you every name!  I just know they are pretty. I got starts from my parents garden, so it didn't cost me a penny and it took a long time to fill in, but it's nice now. I got this stuff from my dad that you sprinkle in the garden and it kills the weeds, but not the flowers. Neat stuff! Saves me time from having to "weed" the garden! :)

I don't know how I lost 2 pounds in 3 days! I lose in spurts though. It's weird.

momof2funykds, wow, your garden sounds beautiful! I'd be sitting out there too! You mean perennials though.. annuals are the ones you have to plant again every year- perennials come back on their own every year. I remember learning that somewhere, and i guess it just kind of stuck :)  Thats great, that stuff to kill the weeds! pulling weeds really sucks..  one of these years i'll convince my man we need a garden!

Leopardrayne - Everyone deserves a little break now and then. Don't be hard on yourself, it'll be ok. ;D  I've heard alot about chick fil-a. We don't have them here. I hear there food is really good!

momof2funykds, oo, the bunnies sound so cute! But be careful, they multiply quick and will chew up all your pretty flowers! My folks have tons of rabbits running around their area, and their neighbor always goes out 'rabbit hunting'.. I dont know if he ever gets any though..lol.. my oldest son tries to get them too- It always makes me think of Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny- "Kill the Wabbit"!

brownsug, ugh! you'll have to stay inside today! I hate it when it gets soo hot..I guess thats why i've stayed in MN :).. usually only have a week or 2 worth of weather that hot here all summer long- usually 70's to 80's, mostly 80's come July. My favorite weather is sunshine with a nice breeze, low to mid 70's- not too hot, and not too cold! But then, winter usually lasts nearly half the year here.. I dont like it when it gets so flippin cold either..Someday I will have to win the lottery so I can get a winter house somewhere warm ;) !

Leopardrayne, will you be going to summer school too? I can only imagine how hard it is to stay on track and eat right going to school full time and working.. It must be so difficult when you end up having to eat on the run so much! Dont be so hard on yourself, sounds like the chick fil-a is alot healthier than some of the other fast foods out there! And you are doing a great job- under 170, remember where you started from and appreciate the progress you have made!Smile

Wendy - I was sooo sad to see Favre go!  I remember when he first started, I thought he was so cute.  :)  I wonder how they're going to do this next season without him.  Yeah, maybe I drop the weight pretty easily because I am younger, but I do have a very physical job that involves a lot of lifting, bending, standing, etc. and I'm sure that helps a ton.  When I was a graphic designer I gained a ton of weight because all I did was sit at a desk all day.  Congrats on the 173!  I'm sure I'm going to gain because my sister is here now and last night we went out to dinner at Bennigan's and I had a sandwhich & fries.  This morning we're having pancakes or donuts, not sure yet, but I'm sure it's going to mean trouble...

Oh sad day.  I gained two pounds... now I'm at 178, maybe.  But also, I can no longer eat any type of fast food.  I had the urge for a Whopper and ordered one with mayo, no cheese, extra lettuce, and jalopenos...but they put cheese and mayo on it.  So I just at the meat with some wheat toast...but I didn't digest.  Just sit there till this morning.  It came out pretty solid.  Considering, I lost the urge for junk food.  Didn't want the fries.  Don't want the pizza we're having tomorrow.  Don't want the food that's going to be served at the wedding.  Then again, this might be a side effect of my stomach feeling so ill.

Either way, I'm happy.  In the middle of eating my meat patty, I didn't want it and threw it away without a problem.  I guess this is an end of an era for me.

k9stylist, I dont think the Packers will be quite the same without Favre! Did you ever see the movie "Theres Something about Mary" -one of my favs- I thought that was soo funny that he was the boyfriend! ooo, I find restaurants hard to do now.. I hate that theres not usually a whole lot on the menus that fits in with my diet goals! mmm. pancakes and donuts.. I've been sticking strictly to my special k cereal.... hang in there girl, I'm sure even if you do gain a couple lbs back, they will drop right off right away!

Selene, good for you dumping the Whopper! I cant do Burger King.. I love their onion rings, but I dont know if its the oil they use to cook or what, but everytime I have it I am stuck to the toilet the next day! happens to me with the fries their too..

man, i just had a snack of yogurt with strawberries and almonds... I forgot how many calories and fat those dang nuts have and ate at least a half cup! When I logged it in and saw I just about fainted!

Momof2 - 1672 is not a "break".  It's the high end of my zig zag.  And Chick Fil-A is good when it's not made on campus.  What does campus do to food? Add ingredients to continuously keep you hungry?

WendyB - yes, I'm in summer school right now, putting off an essay due Monday and studying for a test in my other class.  Also... I do remember where I've been.  My highest was 198, and I haven't seen it for a long time.  But I've been seeing 168 - 170 for a long while.  Yay plateau *rolls eyes*.

Brownsug - I'm in Greensboro, NC, and today the high is 98. Tomorrow it's 101.

I had a few rants today in the other forum in which I participate... I'm going to lay them here too for some input, if that's okay.

The first thing is that I've been having at least 20 fiber per day, which has always been the secret goal for me, although I've been striving for more.  In fact, days like yesterday, I got up over 30! But recently I've been having trouble going #2.  I used to be able to feel the urge to go about five minutes after my shower everyday, and now it's dropping down to once every two or three days.  I used to have comfortable, easy stools, and now they're hard and take a lot of effort, and it leaves me in a little bit of pain afterwards.  I wonder what I've been doing differently the past few days that made it so uncomfortable?

My other rant is that I've also had a problem with short term memory.  I feel like I'm leaving things places, and forgetting where things are (I can't find my water that I opened up this morning!).  I'm 20, so I know it's not because I'm old.  Am I missing a few key vitamins/minerals/enzymes for memory function?

*looks around* Now I've lost my breakfast spoon....

I have a third rant!  I can't control the time of day in which I eat when I have classes and work.  So I can't just "eat when I'm hungry", like I used to.  For example, I am finishing up breakfast (and taking a VERY long time doing it).  I can control breakfast most of the time, but it always has to be before 9:30 a.m. that I finish it during the week, because my first class of the day is dance and requires a lot of movement that may not settle well in my stomach.  On weekdays also, I have a short bit of free time right at noon, and I must eat again then or I won't get to eat again until four.  Typically my stomach starts growling around one thirty to two (as I try to eat every 4 - 4 1/2 hours, putting in 3 - 4 meals per day).  I'm in class then, and won't be able to take a food break until 3:50, when I get out of the class.  If I ate at 12, I'm not hungry at all.  If I hold off from breakfast until almost four, I am loagy and cranky and feeling like I'm about to starve.  On weekends, I eat breakfast whenever I get up, or immediately before my shift, if I start in the morning.  If my shift is in the afternoon, I MUST eat before my shift, whether I'm hungry or not, because I will get hungry about two hours into the shift.  If I could control EXACTLY when I eat, it would be much easier to follow my dietary and exercise goals.

So... today I'm eating slowly from 9:45 to 10:30, and then I'll have to eat again immediately before work at 2:30.  Although that's my 4-hour time, it's also not under my control exactly WHEN I eat.  Then if I want to eat at 7, I can't, because I'll be in the middle of my shift, and it's near impossible to ask for a break in a shift.  This weekend is better than next weekend will be - Father's Day, when we'll be completely packed (second to mother's day, which is the busiest day of the year), and I'll have to work 10 - 12 hours straight without a break.  I can't WAIT to quit this job and get a job that I am actually treated like a human being and not paid a slave's wage ($7.00 per hour; minimum wage goes up to $7.15 July 1).
