Good morning everyone  Im back and missed you all.   I stayed an extra day but had a very good time. Fun party and I skipped the cake.  Got spoiled by my dad...he cooked my favorite dish so I went off the plan for a day.  I figured I only get it once a year so what the heck. Oh yea my dad almost didnt recognize me... I was 200lbs the last time anyone up there saw me.  I got embarrassed cause people were telling me how good I looked.

It happens to be weigh in day and Im proud to report  Im at 159.6.  Do I really have to count that 1/10 lb as a gain.  This means I went almost a week of maintaining.  very happy about that.
Hi everyone, I have a question about soup.  I saw in the SBD book that most soups are full of carbs and I have checked many on the shelves that are but I wouldn't have thought they be.  Would homemade beef vegetable soup be okay?  Where I work, they always have soups for lunch and I've been avoiding them but I'm getting tired of eating grilled chicken salads which is one of the few healthy, SBD friendly items they serve.
welcome home Sarah.  So glad you had a good time.  Really nice about all the compliments.

I'm not weighing in.  Sat in hospital waiting room most of day.  Ate too much, nervous, bored, tired. Everything is fine, but weight is up and I'm not counting this as my real weight.

Oh, this is bad.  I discovered Weight Watchers muffins.  Love love love them.  Bought some and am glad to know theres something on the market, for when I don't feel like making my own.  The best were the smaller, carmel cakes.  For some reason was craving sweets and that hasn't happened for months.

weigh in day and I am down two lbs.  Yah!

the only problem is I am so full that some of my days have been 800 calories.  That is not good so I will make every effort to eat more.

350.5, down a pound not bad for a week of increased calories.  I might need another week before my losses are a bit higher but the inclusion of good carbs seems okay.

Look whos back!  Can I say CONGRATS for holding the weight together while on your trip?  Good job!  How fun that must have been and good it felt with your trimmer you.  You know theyre probably commenting on you :D.

Ive run low too tweeter but last week did better at keeping them up.  Rachael, we'll catch you next week - no reason to be put off by a weekend that throws thing off.   I had to stop with the Kozyshak singles - good but too tempting.    Hope everything with the hospital turned out okay.

Wings, I suspect the soup can be worked in - see if it affects your weightloss.  Not all soups are created equal so pick wisely and I bet you can fit it into your menu without problem.  Hey Bee - 2lb loss with TOM, not bad and more encouraging of when its finished.
Ah - the beach all to myself tonight?

Got a free sample ordered from walmart.com - curve cereal.  Weird that the best sell by date was Feb12.

Weirder?

Check out the pic in my photo gallery of the woman on the box.  I think they photoshopped her stomach.
Morning all.  Have been busy since I ve been home.  Ive been taking Robyn to tiny tots.... kind of like a day care but I participate to.  We sing very silly songs... so far she loves it.  Went out for chinese last night and over did it.  but was so good it was worth the little gain today will be very very good today to flush sodium and other crap out.

Jayne where is her belly button. LOL
Rachel the Quaker mini delites caramel drizzle are good to.... and portion to be only 90 cals.  Good going on all the Lbs lost every one,  hope I can contribute next week.  As long as I behave.  LOL
Ladies, I have a question.  What do you eat when you have the crunchy munchies?  I got into some Fiber one cereal last night but ate way too much.  I just wanted something crunchy that wasn't vegetables.  I am looking for a crunchy snack with very low carbs which I think is the hardest part.
I'm sad.  have been checking my cholesterol on my food analyser here and I'm getting A LOT.  363 one day last month.  207 one day this week.  Does anyone else check it?  Do you all enter your food here?

things I've heard/read.  300mg is the recommed daily amount. (to not go over).  Also what you eat doesn't affect, all that much, what your blood level of cholesterol is.  Things that help are, exercise, no smoking, no saturated fats, get fiber, no trans fats, eating fiber, are a few things.

I LOVE MY EGGS.  My fave is scrambled and put in a tortills with a slice of turkey bacon.

BUT, get this..............one egg has 215 mg of cholesterol.  That's why I'm sad.  All this info suddenly took the fun out of my eggs.  Altho I am big on eating just whites.  hardboiled, and make omlets using 2 whites and only 1 egg.  I love deviled eggs also, and have been eating a lot, for a low carb, low calorie snack   :(

do you guys every look at the cholesterol you consume?
I never thought about checking my cholesterol because I have never had a Dr. tell me it was a problem. I went and did an analysis of this month and my average was 309 which seems to be in the range you are suggesting above. However, I am sometimes over 400 on the days that I eat hard boiled eggs. One thing that seems to help is by using the Egg beaters which have no cholesterol.

I know this doesn't help with the hard boiled eggs but it could at least decrease your consumption when you are making recipes, omelets, etc. I even have my husband switched to these since he eats a lot of eggs and heart conditions run in his family. He even likes the taste and fluffiness of the omelets I make with the beaters so you may want to give them a try if you don't already use the.
Hey everyone,

how are we all today??   I'm good, just glad its friday!!

Sarah, glad you had a good time & well done on the maintanence!!

Rachel, I know what you mean about the WW muffins!!  when my mum did WW, i used to "taste test" to make sure they were a good batch!!  Love some of the WW yoghurts!

Jayne, I see what you mean about that woman - wierd!!  Your face pics look great by the way!!

I feel I'm in a better place today.  Had a big chat with my bf last night and we got alot of things sorted!
Sarah, no belly button *and* this African American woman has a caucasian skin stomach.  LINK  She has no wrists or neck, as if they glued hands and head onto another body.  Weird!

Wings, I started with this Kashi GoLean recently as a crunchy snack food instead of adding milk.  I also caught THIS post for popcorn cauliflower made in the oven which sounds great and thankfully easy to.  I PMd her and she said 425 degrees and about 45min but too check to prevent burning.

Rachael, I stopped entering food a while back but still check and run calorie math in my head through the day.  Heres some happy egg news:

LINK SCIENCE NEWS MAGAZINE
... several eggs a day does tend to increase blood concentrations of cholesterol, particularly the amount circulating in low-density lipoproteins (LDLs)—the so-called bad cholesterol. However, the new study showed, eating eggs can also increase the amount of cholesterol in high-density lipoproteins (HDLs)—the good cholesterol.  Moreover, the new study showed that when people ate three or more eggs per day their bodies made bigger LDL- and HDL-lipoprotein particles than when they ate no eggs. That's important because other recent studies have suggested that larger LDLs are less likely than small ones to enter artery walls and contribute their cholesterol load to artery-clogging plaque. Similarly, larger HDLs are more robust than smaller ones at hauling cholesterol out of the bloodstream and, ultimately, out of the body, notes the lead researcher for the new study, Christine M. Greene.
sun:  ok, I'm happy again.  Don't know why I love eggs so much.  also, love them pickled.  I'm just going to keep on the way I am with my eggs and will worry about it when I ever have a cholesterol check and it comes back high.

bellybuttons.  Haven't looked at the pic yet............but read yrs ago like maybe the 50's or something..............they were airbrushed out as they were considered too risque.  (haha imagine that)

I've been looking at various South Beach references online and THIS ONE states to avoid bananas!

I love bananas and had been eating one a day but gave it up for this week.  Then checked Phase 2 allowed fruit here and was so glad to see banana there.

The site I'm referring to should be corrected as banana has a low glycemic index of 54.

I am wondering if one a day is too much but bananas a re supposed to be good for everything. Smile

Finally..................went to gym yesterday and used treadmill.  Now my knee is bothering me.  Hope it doesn't when weather is nice enough to hike.

weight up a little and dont' know why I've had more appetiate this week.  Some weeks are just like that.  Week before I could barely get my 1,200 calories.  Will try to get it under control.

Have a good weekend everyone.
Hi Mischief!  That link is outdated unfortunately.  In 2004, Dr A added a medium banana (the less ripened the better) as allowed in stage 2 instead of as a food to eat rarely. In the original post on this thread you click links to thread for a more current list of available food.  One a day is fine and yes, they are very nutritional.

Rachael, do you think the knee soreness is from your lowered acitivity due to the weather?

Coming up with some interesting food options to try but trying to postpone grocery shopping and hold off spending a bit.  Im pretty stocked but could use fruit and fresh vegs for some recent ideas.  A mini trip should be fine.
Morning Morning.  Rachel I wish I had that problem of not getting enough cals.  I love to eat way to much.  IM going to try not logging food for a week and see how it goes.  I did fine last week with out doing it and stayed on track.  No special dinners this week though so theoretically I should lose right.  Thursday will tell the tale.  Hope everyone has a great weekend?
