Here at the Going4Gold Gang it's all about sharing what your doing as an individual then sharing with the rest of the gang.
Everyone is Welcome
We went to Pizza Hut lastnight because we were given a gift certificate. Do you know how hard it is to eat healthy at Pizza Hut? I got the salad bar only to find out they didn't have light ranch as their nutrition facts said they would. So I got the full fat version just a very small amount of it for my broccoli and lettuce. Then when I went back to the salad bar I just got cherry tomatoes. So I pretty much paid $5.00 for cherry tomatoes. I got two breadsticks that came with the salad bar price and gave one to my DH and I ate one of them. I am glad I only ate one because of the fats. This nutrition report is as close as I could get it (should be right on target)

Wow! You did great at Pizza Hut. I would have eaten at least 2 pieces of Pizza because pizza is my biggest downfall. I probably would have just had DH take the kids while I stayed home or maybe ate Subway before going there so I wouldn't be hungry.
Well yesterday I ended up at 1555 cals, and a nutrition grade of C+. I did no "real" exercise but I was pretty active, out and about doing things.
In a little bit I will be leaving for my power Yoga and Latin pump classes. I usually burn over 600 calories on Saturdays which is nice b/c I can eat a lil bit more :) WOO HOO!!!
I need to get back on the water wagon today. I do so much better with that when I am working b/c I have my huge water glass and my routine. Will check back in later! Have a great Saturday everyone!!!

Measurements are looking good too, .25 inches off of bust, waist, hip and calf (total loss 1 inch overall). I hate gravity, it sucks! (haha, didja get that Forks?) I got some nice bra/pantie sets for xmas, keeping the girls high and proud! Now if only my thighs would shrink some...stay tuned friends.
Welcome banana, Tammy, and our other new friends. Post each day and we'll get to know you better.
Oh yeah, here's the beets recipe (balsamic vinegar is the flavor BOMB), I added some fresh ground pepper after peeling, and a pinch of sea salt, and mixed them up with a can of drained pineapple in it's own juice:
ROASTED BEETS with BALSAMIC VINEGAR
Hands-on time: 5 minutes
Time to table: 65 minutes or 95 minutes
Serves 4
1 pound fresh red beets
Olive oil, optional (I don't find it necessary, see NUTRITION ESTIMATE for calorie mpact) Balsamic vinegar
Slice off the greens but leave about a half inch of the stem end intact (this preserves the nutrients). Wash well. Place each beet on a sheet of foil or all the beets in a single layer in a casserole dish. If you're watching calories, MEASURE the olive oil (it's easy to use more than you want!) and drizzle onto the beets. Splash with balsamic vinegar.Roast at 400F for 1 hour OR at 375F for 90 minutes. Let cool, slip off skins. Slice or chop and serve immediately or refrigerate for later use.NUTRITION ESTIMATE

Wow... you're so organized with all this and everything. What's SW and CW?
2BB thanks for the reply. No white starches? Is sweet potato OK? 'Cause I had some last night and boy were they good especially with salad.
This week I've just been sitting on my rump reading anything from CC and I got like major homework to do. I'll log in my details tonight.
What do you guys do to get active during the winter? Like seriously... I go to my high school to run but Friday I skipped (being lazy) and yea Saturday I woke up too late (I usually run 7-8 in the morning before anyone's awake... my parents know it's just easier for me 'cause my little sister will be all "can I come? huh huh?")
Yeah so far I'm just binging my butt off and feeling mega guilty 'cause I've been wasting time not studying and just eating and online.
Hope everyone's doing well with weight loss,
hananabanana

(gives you a way to track progress -- many of us here are kinda "anal" about data and tracking stuff, and the others who are more laid back put up with us so cheerfully, it's great! I always joke that I'd need to take a class to learn to be more spontaneous -- LOL).
Don't be too hard on yourself, or think of normal eating spread out over the day as "binging" -- you can eat up to six times a day if you mind your calories, and eat foods that are more "high volume." (google "Volumetrics" if you want to learn more!)
My nature is to want to sit on the couch, too, so I plan the time for exercise like an important meeting or appointment. I'm worth an hour a day! So I'll try to make that appointment. Also I lay out my work out clothes so once I put them on, I can't back out. Make little bargains with myself too when I resist, "OK, we'll go for 5 minutes, then see how we feel," -- "I'll have a delicious cup of cinnamon tea and meditate for 15 minutes when this workout is done," and stuff like that.
Banana, you've got so much going for you to start working on being strong and physical at your age! I didn't really start moving and working out until I was well into my 30s. Maybe see if your sister wants to be your walking buddy, you can support each other! Even now, my brother and I live far apart, but hike, bike ride, and run together whenever we can. We started doing "Christmas Walks" about 11 years ago, and our workouts together have made us very close to this day. That's a good thing!
Welcome to Skye and Blue (aren't I clever to put those both together!!)
Got up early today, rode the bike on the trainer for 60, then did my Giant Rubber Band strength/flexibility series. This afternoon we're going shopping downtown at Findlay Market for veggies and such, getting ready to have some friends over on NYE for dinner, and then a movie fest of the Lord of the Rings on the big screen (the movies my gift to SO for xmas); beets, brussel sprouts, and yukon potato to roast on the grill; button mushrooms to make an appetizer (stuff the caps with a mix of fat free cream-cheese, chives and a bit of parmesan, then put in the oven til the top is crispy...mmmm). For protein we'll make some marinated chicken skewers, and some delicious chicken sausages from a butcher we love at the market.
Tomorrow we're off to Kentucky to Shaker Village for the day, to meet my mom, brother, and his new fiancee'. We hope it goes well; lots of family blending going on for me in 2008.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey G4G gang,
I just wanted to post a quick something. Last week I was up 3 I think due to water weight and today I lost those 3 plus 1 pound. So I'm actually down 1 pound which is great. Which means a total loss of 6.8 pounds since I started with CC in September which is very slow weight loss but I will take it. I'm going to start eating more meals through-out the day to get my metabolism up & I also will be going in to get a test to see how much I burn when I am sedentary and how much I burn when I exercise-(which will be great!) These tools on here are great but I just want to know what they actually are and find out what an expert says--and how accurate they are! So I will be able to share that information with you guys! Alright, it's Saturday and I'm fixing to clean the apartment--talk to you all later!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone!! Yes, rivergrrrl, you are very clever ;) But I wish I could be more structured like you are with my food!! And figuring out what I am actually putting into my body and the grades and nutrients and all that good stuff. I don't think I will ever be anal about it, it's just not "me" I guess.
Well I got home from the gym a lil while ago and I feel great. I burned 600 cals or so in 2 hours of exercise - my yoga class and a latin spice dance class (kind of like latin jazzercise). I was STARVING when I got home and just finished wolfing down about 1,000 cals. But boy did it taste GOOD and I don't feel guilty about it.
Gina, I am thinking of it as a New Year's REVOLUTION b/c I saw someone on another thread say that. Really my goal is to be happy and healthy. I have about 25 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight (gained about 5 lbs since pre-Thanksgiving but it's OK b/c I know it could be way worse). So my goal weight by May 1 would be nice -- it will already be super duper hot here in TX by then. I'd like to be able to wear shorts without thinking of how fat my legs must look.
Also I will be getting my annual bonus at the end of Feburary. I decided if I get enough money I am going to get a trainer at my gym. I did that about 2 years ago and lost about 40 lbs. It was great motivation -- I am about 15 lbs heavier now than when I quit with the trainer (only b/c it's so expensive). If I have the money to do it, it will be worth it -- I already know that it works for me.
My short-term goal is to lose 5 lbs before my 35th birthday celebration. I am going to a dinner / out with friends on Friday, January 25th and my birthday is on Jan. 22. WOOT WOOT!!!
Happy Saturday everyone!!!
(man, I can already tell that my legs are going to be reaaaaally sore tomorrow)
Happy Saturday.
My weight loss for this week was an impressive.... zero. Yup.... not even an ounce lost. And I got on the scale 11 times. (Poor scale ... I think I heard it mutter "ouch" at least once!)
So much for my 1000 calorie per day deficit, huh? And, no, my metabolism hasn't slowed down ... I check my heart rate and blood sugars constantly, and if my metabolism slows my blood sugars stay sky-high .... and they haven't been high. (One of the joys of being diabetic, I suppose, is being able to monitor things like this 6 times a day.) This is my first week in 19 weeks with no weight loss... and my period is now officially two days late. (Nope, I'm not preggers ... one of us is fixed.) And I must candidly admit that I'm grouchy. Grrrrr. I think my body just likes being 301.4 pounds (heaven knows why!) ... and so it wanted to stay here for two weeks. Oh well, I suppose it's better at 301.4 than where I started at 369 .... but I still am tempted to drop kick that scale through the goal posts of life. (Do you remember that annoying country-western song?)
Anyway, DH has now (once again) taken away the scale again ... so only he knows when my next weigh-in will be. He mentioned March, but I think I can bat my eyes at him enough to let me have a once a month weigh-in, maybe. He thinks that I am getting too focused on the scale (yet again) and that I should take a break from obsessing about the scale and switch my focus to obsessing about something else. I've got the obsessing-about-nutrition-and-fiber thing down pretty well, so perhaps I will have to start obsessing about my hair. Or my yard. Or the Iowa caucuses. Or if I will get that job interview in January. Or what I will wear to that interview.
I can't decide if I'm indecisive ... or not. (grin)

Hey G4G gang!
Well I fasted today because honestly I didn't have much of an appetite and I had so much work to do.

Activity: Lay on bed studying.
Yeah the ice cream and pancakes I had really got it up high. Just learning to get back on the wagon. Pancakes can be so filling don't you guys think? I've got a major sweet tooth and love carbs! Especially the simple spaghetti my mom made... that's so delicious! I always end up eating at least 2,000 calories a day... I seriously need to work on that.
rivergrrl: Thanks for the compliment! But I wish I could add activity through out the day rather than having to plan it you know? Like take every day things and add some activity to them. I never heard of Volumetrics before. I googled it and I was so surprised how substitution and adding veggies and fruits go a big way when wanting to fill up. Omg I want to buy that book!
Story: Ever since I was a kid I was like the obese kid and everything. My parents would tell me to stop eating or that I'm eating to much but never sat down with me and show me anything about health (of course they were over weight too). Yeah running is what got me started to get healthy. I love running and my coach Mac and all of them. They are truly amazing although I skipped Friday and he'll be on my case.
danceswithforks: I hope you enjoy the new house. Organic oatmeal and with cereal full of protein? Ooh that sounds good. Fills you up for 7 hours? Awesome! New Years Revolutions... man I didn't even think about those!
booster1: So glad you lost about 7 pounds with CC! That's totally awesome! I tried to eat meals through-out the day but those little meals turned out bigger. I hope you're able to pull it off 'cause I know I couldn't. It's great to know how much you burn when you're sedentary and when you're active. Good luck with that!
amy_blue: Omg that's crazy! I usually wolf down a day's worth of food when I don't exercise. You're considering paying for a trainer? That's great even though it is expensive. Do you have any friends that are supportive maybe you could work-out with them at the gym or something. Good luck on the five pounds!
mollymouser: On a platue or something? I hope you get on loosing again. Do you measure your waist or anything to see if you lost inches but not weight? That's what I do when all else fails (and even still I'm proven that I haven't lost weight lol)
New Years Revolutions
1) Get organized
2) Start knowing when I'm hungry and when I'm full
3) Not to be impulsive on eating
4) Get active while in the house
5) Time Management
6) Start logging foods on Calorie Count more often
7) Not get too obsessed with food and "dieting"
8) Measure myself rather than relying on the scale
9) Become efficient in school (organized and complete my work without having to stay up and finish)
10) Run on my own in the weekends
People may not have read this post but it feels good to put out my feelings and everything and just know what I need to work on and what I already got down pat. Thanks for those who are reading.
For anyone who is interested, I posted a detailed "grocery list" of all the usual foods that I eat ... in my journal! (I get a lot of PMs requesting this information, so thought I would just write it all down in one place!)

hey gang,
I just wanted to check in: Breakfast: Toast (5g fiber) with almond butter and carrots (I was rushing out the door so I didn't have time for oatmeal this morning) Lunch: Whole Wheat Pasta with orgnaic Pasta sauce and 4% lean meat with a piece of the 5 gram of fiber toast with laughing cow cheese on it then I made a huge salad with 2 tablespoons of light thousand island, cucumbers, real bacon bits and cheese--all very satisfying for only 450 calories! I also had two small 100 calorie ice cream cups which I have never had but I was craving ice-cream so I told myself I had to buy the little cups so I couldn't go crazy because I knew I would! I'm not sure what I will do for dinner--I'm thinking about making a lean beef dip with cheese & tomatoes and just eating chips and dip ??? Not sure yet it's only 5pm here so I have lots of time--I was hoping to get another light meal in but I'm still stuffed from my lunch--I think I did over-eat but I just didn't want to stop! I have to learn how to stop when I'm full in 2008 & also in 2008 I just want to eat more frequent meals & I want to keep doing what I'm doing because I'm doing a good job! lol ! Just wanted to give a shout out to everyone and let you all know you are doing a great job!
So here's my day. My fat intake ended up being high because I mistakenly bought regular ground turkey instead of extra lean. I already had it so I decided I'd eat it anyway. 17g of fat in 4 oz?!?!
I went to Sonic today with the kids and actually got a Santa Fe grilled chicken salad. I got no dressing, no croutons and did not eat the onion ring they always put on their salads. I have no idea how that affects my logged cals because there was no option to have no onion ring or croutons. So I just ate an extra 100 cals figuring that would even it out. You have no idea how badly I wanted my chili cheese tots!! I had to fight my mouth to not blurt that out at the last minute while ordering. Then my daughter yells from the backseat...."Get the Cheesecake bites mom!!". UGH! Does she know what I love??? I hate TOM!!
I don't have much time to get on here and just chat and get to know everyone since I'm alone with 3 kids, I'm pretty outnumbered all day. Where are the Merry Maids when you need them??!!

My DH doesn't report in here yet so I'm get to tell on him. Today he was bad!! He called me this morning (nothing new) and let me know they were having Dunkin Donuts at work. I told him that he better not bring any home like he did last Saturday, and I ended up eating one. Despite my warning he came in and asked if the kids had been good and I knew he didn't listen to me. He brought 5 donuts and showed them to me to tempt me. He thought he was being nice and bringing in donuts could be worked into my diet somehow. I got really upset because of course I wanted one but I also wanted to continue losing weight. Weight loss won and between him the kids and my dad the donuts were gone within about 15 minutes. He has told on himself in another forum and I finally get to say my part first...lol. Men,,,,,can be very supportive,,,,,but can also be a pain in the butt!! I love him!!
