Jesssicasbc.... Hi. Congratulations on starting to lose. I also have 100 pounds to lose. I am 41 years old and have a 9 year old son. If you wanna talk, I'm here. Cause I could use someone to talk to also. It is a long road we are both on. i would like to add you to friends list? Melonie
OK, I admit it -- I am getting pretty adventurous with my eating these days. Anyway, I'd be reading up on how tasty and lean ostrich meat can be, and then I discovered that my local Whole Foods grocery store carries all-natural, free-range Ostrich burger patties (just 100 calories each)! So, I invested in a pair of them and plan to sizzle 'em up for dinner tonight. Because I want to ensure that I get enough veggies in, I am actually just going to make one DOUBLE ostrich burger -- which is why I posted a picture of TWO cute little ostriches!
Ostrich meat is exquisite. It is dark red in color with a mild and flavorful taste and texture similar to beef tenderloin but without the fatty residue. While ostrich meat is described as a red meat, and is said to have all of the texture and taste of beef, it has 40% less fat. Like red meat, it is rich in protein and iron, yet is lower in fat, calories, and cholesterol than either skinless chicken or turkey, which are traditonally presented as viable alternatives to red meat.
Anyway, the plan is to grill up the ostrich burger patties with some fresh, minced garlic, some onion powder, and a pile of fresh, sliced mushrooms.... before serving them on a toasted Thomas' light multigrain english muffin. I am pairing it up with a small cucumber-tomato-radish salad as well as some zucchini! YUM!
Two ostrich burger patties (200 calories)
Thomas' Light multigrain english muffin (100 calories)
8 ounces fresh, sliced mushrooms, sauteed (50 calories)
zucchini in tomato sauce (105 calories)
one medium cucumber, peeled/diced (24 calories)
one small tomato, diced (16 calories)
one cup of sliced radishes (19 calories)
Walden Farm's Zero-calorie Balsamic Vinaigrette (0 calories)

Hi all,
Well i've been doing not too badly. I have lost 2.3kg/5lbs since i last weighed in, which was on the 17th (a week and a half ago). Now that i've got scales again i will be weighing in weekly again. Last night was bad however because bf and i had been out all day and the kitchen was a mess and we couldnt be bothered cooking so we ordered pizza. i wasnt even particularly hungry and told myself i was going to have 2 slices of pizza (@300 cal/slice i was still within my calorie limit for the day). Do you think that happened? errrr no. 4 slices of pizza and some garlic pizza bread and some breaded chicken later... i wasn't feeling too flash, and had totally blown my calorie deficit for the day. silly silly silly girl. :(
This morning has also been bad with me devouring far too much cinnamon toast crunch, but im still going to log it and make sure i stick to my 1600 cals for the day. I'm still really annoyed about the pizza splurge though. I think on some level it was because i had lost the 2.3kg i subconsciously thought.. ooh a bit of a blow out wont hurt. grrrrrrrrrr.
Anyway, back on track as of NOW. At least i dont let one little incident completely blow my diet for weeks on end like i used to!
Right - im off to shower and do some essay work!

Sorry that I haven't posted lately. I have been extremely busy between doctors appointments and physical therapy. I have been able to do since Monday 60 minutes on the elliptical with very light resistance. I have been doing the manual program instead of the preset weight loss or fat burning programs. I will work my way up and do five minutes at a resistance of 1, 5 minutes at 2, 5 minutes at 3, 5 minutes at 2, 3 minutes at 1, 3 minutest at 2, 3 minutes at 3, 2 minutes at 4, 2 minutes at 5, 1 minute at 6, 2 minutes at 5, 2 minutes at 4, 3 minutes at 3, 9 minutes at 2, 10 minutes at 1. I have been able to do almost 3 miles per the hour that I workout. It is usually 2.96 or something around there. So that is a major improvement I just have to do my nebulzier before and after to make sure that my asthma stays in check.
Hope everyone is doing well I will try to catch up on posts later.
Welcome to all the new members!!!

I hope everyone else is doing great!
Krystie
Morning peoples. I had a terrible weekend on a trip to Oklahoma City, I ate almost 4000 calories on Saturday alone. Junk!! Arby's... gosh that stuff is terrible... $14.00 for two people, LOADED with calories (even the turkey), and just not all that great.... Taco Bueno which wasn't that bad, but not that great either calorie wise. Arby's was over 1000 calories all on it's own... not to mention the snacking on the road. Blah!!! I exercised all weekend at the hotel, but still didn't equal out what I took in. It's hard to eat cheap, and try to find something decent. But it's over and I'm trying not to stress over it too much and get back on track. I'm really glad to be back on my routine. Here's to a better week.
Congrats Krystie on your goals reached!! That's awesome.
BLfan... Way to go on all the exercise!!! I'm dead tired after 30 minutes and my knees just can't go any farther.
Hey everyone!! Been reaaaallly busy, sorry havent posted in a bit. Today was weigh in for my goal of 285 by Halloween.
Started 9/04/07 weight-310
Current 10/31/2007 weight- 285.2
I'll take it!!! yay :)
Rena
Congrats Rena, goal reached, very well done! I'm hoping to see the same number very soon.
I've had a bad couple of weeks up until last Friday eating almost 3000 cals on many days fortunately I had the energy to exercise every single day and still managed to lose 2 lbs during those two weeks.
But as of Friday I've been eating normally (no binges) and as of Monday this week I've been eating 1600 cals a day or a little less and no candy or sweets. I'm really really excited about the weigh in next week Wednesday. I've started a clean eating challenge for myself until next week Nov. 7 to see how much of a difference clean eating can make. I'm not exercising as much as I used to because the ball of my foot got inflamed but I'm hoping to be back to normal exercise levels next week.
Have a great day everyone.

- Starting Weight (& day group joined): 275 lbs, October29, 2007
- Highest EVER: 275
- Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight: 250 (by christmas)
- ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 130 lbs
- Plan: calorie-count.com food log and I new product that I got introduce by a good friend of mine, (she lost a lot of weight). Jenny craig meals plus a cleansing system. Trying to keep my Calorie intake to 1200 (which is hard, I can go over pretty easy) Thank God for this wedsite, I can keep track of everything even the cleasing products. What I do need is to start walking, will see. Which me luck
1200 cals is very low, if you do start walking I would highly recommend to increase your intake otherwise your body will probably go into plateau mode.
I see you are not exercising so I guess it's doable. I'd have a really really hard time sticking to 1200 cals, I'm on 1600 cals a day.
Good luck on your journey either way.
Just wanted to say hi and welcome to vplaverde since we're practically neighbors.
*waves from across the bay*
That's great that you're going to start walking, that's how I started with my exercise, luckily there are plenty of cool places to hike and walk in the bay area...too bad it's getting dark so early now.
Thank you for welcome me, well let's see what happens 125 lbs to loose is a lot, but I will stick to the cleasing I am doing right now and the calorie count and keep at it. I am in the program for Gastrobypass surgery as a last resource, but I really don't want to do the surgery, so I am putting my foot down and change my ways. I am too a 41 year old Mom of an almost 20 year old girl and an almost 5 year old boy. I need energy to keep up with him. the worse part is that I sit all day in front of a computer for 10 to 12 hours a day, did I mention I am a single parent. Well you can tell by my weight. I have done the conseling and got over the stress and depressign eating habits, so wish me luck.
I want to be ready to catch a new man by next year. ![]()
I had 120lbs to lose myself and I'm down to 95 lbs to lose.
Good luck and lots of strength!
1. Starting weight on joining : 247.6 on October 28, 2007
2. Highest weight: 258.2. It might've been higher, since there were several months where I ate a lot of fast food and did not weigh myself, and then lost some, so I was probably in the 260's.
3. Mini-Goals: first goal: 230
4. Mini-goal 2: 200
5. Mini-goal 3: 175
6. Ultimate goal: 149, basically the number CC gave me because it's as good as any.
7. Plan: Counting calories, exercising a little, drinking a lot of water, not drinking any pepsi
My name's Brandon, and I'm 19 years old and a freshman in college majoring in music performance for classical piano. I've been overweight all my life, but now it's just getting ridiculous and I want to be within the normal range for once. I want to feel healthy, and maybe even start dating. I don't want to be so self-conscious.
I think part of the reason I've been overweight is this: when I was four years old,I started to go blind in one eye. After getting an MRI,a brain tumor was found. When it was removed, I went totally blind, and the petuitary gland was damaged, and I don't know what else. BasicallyI had to start taking some replacement hormones, including thyroid, steroids, eventualy growth hormones, etc. I think that thyroid problem might be part of the reason I've battled with weight all my life.
Anyway, glad to be here. :)

How is everyone doing?
I've gone over my cals yesterday by 200 but also worked off just about the same amount with walking and pilates, so I'm happy.
I've been reaching a 1,000 cals deficit every single day since Monday so I hope the scale will show the weightloss accordingly next week at my weigh in on Thursday November 8.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone.
All the best on your weightloss journey.
I had no idea there were tools that would help blind people access the internet like you do, that's fantastic.
Have a great weekend and good luck with reaching your goals that you have set for yourself.
